Madonna offers weak non-apology to Marine Le Pen, gets booed by audience

Madonna didn’t actually say the words “French politician Marine Le Pen is a Nazi” but she did say it with her visuals during her MDNA tour. During Madonna’s show, she does a “video morph” thing of various international politicians and leaders, and when Marine Le Pen’s photo comes up, it morphs into a swastika. Incidentally, when I was looking up my previous story on this subject, I just typed in “Madonna Nazi” thinking it would bring me to the story – it didn’t. You know why? Because Madonna also defended King Edward VIII and Wallis Simpson, claiming that they weren’t Nazi sympathizers, when in truth, there is a lot of evidence that proves that they were. Basically, Madonna only uses Nazi imagery when it suits her purposes, and she will defend real, genuine Nazi sympathizers because they were “romantic”.

Anyway, these are photos from Madge’s Paris show last night. The last time she was in France, she pulled the Marine Le Pen-swastika trick, and Le Pen made a lot of noise about suing (although I don’t think she’s actually sued yet). So Madonna tried to apologize while on stage. Except she didn’t really. Just FYI, this Mail story cracked me up:

Madonna appeared to make a public apology to France’s far-right nationalist leader Marine Le Pen last night after depicting the politician with a swastika across her forehead. It comes as the leader of the National Front prepares to sue the pop queen for associating her with Adolf Hitler’s Nazis.

In an eccentric performance in front of 2,500 fans in Paris, Madonna said: ‘I know that I have made a certain Marine Le Pen very angry with me. It’s not my intention to make enemies.’

Madonna then went on to praise France for its tolerance and the welcome it had shown to black performers.

She said: ‘Before the civil rights movement in America, African American artists were not allowed to perform in America, but France opened its arms to Josephine Baker, Charlie Parker, to people of colour and people who were different. Minorities felt welcome in France. If we don’t learn from history we will just repeat it. So the next time you want to point the finger at somebody and blame them for the problems in your life take that finger and point it back at you.’

Despite her emotive words, there were boos when Madonna, who turns 54 in August, performed for just 45 minutes, after fans paid up to £200 to see her.

She also raised eyebrows when she said: ‘I have a special affinity with France, and I have for many years. It could go all the way to Napoleon because I think of myself as a revolutionary.’

The pop queen was attacked for only singing for around 30 minutes – and spending 15 minutes ‘wittering on about politics’. As she left the stage, the curtains closed behind her with a message reading ‘I love you’. But when she did not reappear for an encore, audience members began jeering, booing and pelting the stage with bottles. Ticket prices for the sold-out gig started at £60 rising to £200, but were exchanging hands on the black market for up to £1,000.

Concert-goer Guillaume Delaval said afterwards: ‘The show was OK but it only last 45 minutes, and she spent 15 minutes of that wittering on about politics and tolerance. We didn’t come to hear that. It was a concert, not the United Nations.’

Madonna’s staff were not available for comment today on why she ended the gig so abruptly.

The National Front has already lodged a formal legal complaint on Madonna for the Nazi stunt, which she pulled at another concert in Paris earlier this month. Florian Philippot, the FN’s vice-president, said the party could not accept ‘such an odious comparison’, adding: ‘This is just another provocation in Madonna’s world tour so that people will talk about her. Marine Le Pen will defend not only her own honour but her supporters and the millions of National Front voters.’

Ms Le Pen, 43, threatened prosecution when Madonna performed the same stunt in Israel, saying: ‘We understand how old singers who need to get people talking about them go to such extremes.’

Other sources in the National Front, which has frequently been linked with anti-Semitism and racism, said Madonna had offended all of its members.

‘We are not a Nazi party, and object to being depicted as such,’ said a source in the party, which won a fifth of the popular vote during the first round of presidential elections in April. ‘If you accuse the National Front of being anti-Semitic and racist then you accuse a fifth of the French people of being anti-Semitic and racist.’

Marine Le Pen pledged to reform the party after taking over the leadership from her notorious father, Jean-Marie Le Pen last year. He is a convicted racist and anti-Semite who has in the past denied that the Nazi Holocaust actually took place during World War II. Despite this, he came runner-up in the French presidential election in 2002, proving that he had widespread support. Ms Le Pen has toned down the party’s extremist views, but regularly pledges to limit Muslim immigration, and to clamp down on Islamic culture in France.

Ms Le Pen won just under 18 per cent of votes in the presidential election but failed in her bid to become an MP in France’s National Assembly.

[From The Mail]

So, long story short, she didn’t apologize, she yammered on and on about race and politics, and she barely “performed” for 30 minutes after charging everybody roughly $300-ish for the pleasure. CLASSIC MADGE.

PS… I’m including a slightly NSFW photo at the bottom. Because I LOVE YOU. Madge Biscuit Attack!!

      okay Vadge, pick a finger!

      • divax says:

@corny: yeah, really – the disgusting old exhibitionist hag that she is. I’ll bet she smells of expired mothballs, “Soir de Paris” and dried urine. I’m a couple of years older than her but I have a lot more dignity and self respect (and frankly am better looking, imho, from not having such a jacked-up face as hers). She should literally just “Hang it Up” at this point – pun very seriously intended. I could just see her in the Bette Davis role in “Whatever Happened to Baby Jane” in a year or two (or maybe next week). That should be her next vanity directorial project

That’s a fantastic response. A shot right at Madonna’s greatest fear and insecurity.

      That is awesome.

No this is not funny! If this has come from a NON no-nazi, yes! But hell to the NO. “Goebels is so funny, ha ha ha”! Indeed…People, you need to get the facts right….

Good for her… I was thinking the same thing. Vadge will do anything to try and remain relevant. It’s too late – even my gay guy friends are starting to complain.

I love my gossip but please before you write an article claiming madge is full of BS please research the issue; I might not like her current music and think shes an ego maniac but what shes getting at has value. This politician IS ANTISEMITIC!
You are writing articles for me, as well as a bunch of bored people who would rather read gossip then the newspaper. Thats ok, but when your feeding innocent minds realize your words have power!
LE PEN does not hide her opposition to the settlement policy or her support for recognition of Palestine at the United Nations. She does not hide her opinion that the Iranian nuclear plan is “defensive” and that she is opposed to attacking its nuclear facilities, an attack that she says would be “a flagrant violation of international law”.
so basically she supports nuclear terror and thinks jews and israelis dont have a right to their country.

        Perhaps it’s 1938, after all?

  4. nettie says:

Ack! That last photo is awful! Talk about tough love for all of us…also those guns are just so stupid. Not controversial, just stupid…it’s like she has a list in a notebook somewhere of every hot button topic she can think of and tries to work it in her act. Yawn.

Buuurrrnnnn! That was nicely handled by Le Pen. Really though, this is her regular concert and she only performs for 30 minutes?? Is that true?

  6. Hotpockets says:

AHHH! That isn’t a biscuit, it looks more like a vag brick, it’s so square like.

I hate Madonna, why people would ever pay 300 dollars to see this woman is beyond my understanding. I know commenters will say, but she puts on an amazing show, well..so do my cats and I don’t have to pay to watch them do silly things around the house.

    • chantal says:

Wow! Your cats can dance through a routine! Send me a DVD please!

      • Hotpockets says:

Yes, my cats can lip sync to ANY background noise/ song that you like and prance around simultaneously. I will only charge $5 for a DVD and it will still be better than watching a Madonna concert, well what wouldn’t be?

I am glad zen you share my pain, how this woman ever had ANY appeal or how she was ever considered controversial is a JOKE. Zero talent, she can barely sing and no amount of plastic surgery has enhanced her looks, what a waste, but every “popstar” is completely manufactured. Madonna never came up with Madonna, her record label did and their one trick pony needs to retire.

    • ZenB!tch says:

      +1

I’ve hated her since I was in Junior High back when she was faking virginity or something. Trashy then, trashy and pathetic now.

Im going to put my potty mouth in the closet whilst i write, but Madonna?

unlike a 82 Beaujolais, some things just don’t age well…

neither does ego above sympathy. you should have trashed your god damn guns after Colorado. No matter what, your ‘highness’ your ‘star’ quality in no way supercedes the endearing qualities of everyone who lost their life, and the people who lost them.

      get over yourself.

      signed,

a big fan, but not right now

      • asda says:

My big problem was her pointing the gun at the AUDIENCE during this thing. Probably very deliberately to reference the Colorado stuff. I’m guessing.

I had a lot of respect for her, even though she’s always been a massive bitch, up until the stupid shit she’s been doing lately. She’s veering waaaay into delusional territory.

  10. Sloane Wyatt says:

    Madonna “Meat Curtains” is OVAH!

  11. mike says:

I’m with Madonna 100% here. Ms. Le Pen is part of the distrubing trend that is destroying the old liberal European Dream and replacing it instead with racism, populism, and neo-Nazism.

She shouldn’t have to apologize for stating the fact, no more than Jesse Jackson have to apologize to David Duke for calling him racist.

    • Naomi says:

All of this. Le Pen is far more disgusting than a peak at Madonna’s over ripe biscuit shot

    • OrangeBlohan says:

The whole point is people bought really expensive tickets to hear her sing (lip sync.) They didn’t pay to hear her politicis. She should have to repay the concert goers for the tickets.

    • MerryHappy says:

But you can see she’s a total hypocrite, right? Making a movie about Edward and Wallis who WERE close with Nazis, and were outright racists? Wallis Simpson wrote in a letter that the native people and blacks in the Bahamas were ‘lazy, thriving n*ggers.’
Madonna overlooked that easily. Yeah, ms le pen’s politics suck and are a depressing trend, but they HARDLY make her a Nazi. Is she sending gays to the showers? No. Did Edward basically say France fell to Germany because they deserved it? Yes.
She’s a freaking hypocrite, and i despise her for putting blinders when it conveniences her.

      • mike says:

        Ms Pen’s politics make her a neo-Nazi.

FYI, neither did the Nazis say let’s send peeps to gas chamber. Circumlocution is entirely in the Nazi tradition. And it’s something needed evermore by the neoNazis like Le Pen, because major European countries nowadays have laws against antisemitic expressions. (Remember the French designer who got in legal hot water for his antisemitic remarks?)

In short, even neonazis must be careful with what they say, at least if they want to avoid jail time and want a political career.

As for W, well, check out my other post. BTW, the British conservatives during that time were quite racist, as evinced by Churchill’s racist dismissal of Gandhi as a “dirty kaffir.”

Pretty much par for the course as regards to the royal couple, I’d say.

      • MerryHappy says:

Then, unfortunately, we have a great deal of neo-nazi politicians everywhere. I stand by my statement. She is a hypocrite. I don’t care if it was ‘socially acceptable’ at the time. They hardly deserve to be romanticized, especially by someone claiming to be against fascism and racism.

      • Jo 'Mama' Besser says:

I guess that if one finds himself in this kind of position, maybe all that can be said is that old phrase about a stopped clock being right twice a day. Hopefully it’s s twelve-hour clock.

      • Aud says:

        I agree.
Madonna is nothing but a bore. The only thing that she has on her mind is money and how to make it. There is no intellect to speak of, which has been confirmed countless times in every interview she has given.

        What next?
A sequel to her Sex book titled SEX: Geriatric Edition?

    • mike says:

      @merryhappy,

Europe is chockfull of Neonazis. Too many in fact. Between anti-Israel antisemitism and the crisis in EU, neonazis like Le Pen and Golden Dawn are having a field day.

Moreover, if Bush can praise Churchill as the greatest man who ever lived while ignoring his racism and imperialism (but also hiring Condi Rice at the same time), then I can give Madonna a pass here even if you can’t.

      • Jo 'Mama' Besser says:

Technically one’s too many, but I’m just funning you. Really good comments, I couldn’t agree more with your assessments. Cool beans.

      • MerryHappy says:

I understand where you’re coming from, i would have to be obtuse not to. I’m just so exhausted with her whole pompous schtick. Also, i think or disagreement on what ‘Nazi’ means is a matter of connotation vs denotation. You’re using the strict definition, while i went with the immediate emotive response of what ‘Nazi’ means to the world.

    • sunmoonstars says:

Why is it disgusting and racist for the native people of any country to want to preserve their culture, customs and way of life? Maybe some countries like the status quo and who are you, or anyone, to tell them otherwise?

      • Shannon says:

Because if they’re brown people, their culture is inferior to white European culture. That’s the implied message. It exists in the U.S. too, Michelle Bachmann has (in)famously stated that “not all cultures are equal.” It’s the new dogwhistle for the racist fringe. Being publicly against “multiculturalism” is a stand-in for being against foreigners, nonwhite people, non-western religions, diversity in general, etc. etc. All in the name of “preserving” the white cultures that must of course remain unadulterated by the less worthy culture of the “other.” As if culture is some kid of static, unchanging institution or something. If preserving cultural traditions was really all this was about, it wouldn’t be such a hot button issue. I myself am proud of my Irish heritage and I make sure people know it – but that doesn’t mean I’m against the African immigrants in my community. I’m very happy that they’re here and they add another flavor to the overall mix here. Their arrival hasn’t threatened my own cultural traditions in any way. If people are threatened by people who come from a culture different from their own, that’s THEIR problem – don’t put it on the immigrants. They didn’t choose to leave their homes, or to suffer horrible losses and genocides, or to be displaced in refugee camps with nothing but the clothes on their backs. They just want what everyone wants – a safe place to live and income to support their families. Causing MORE problems for them once they arrive out of xenophobic and anti-scientific notions about racial and cultural superiority IS disgusting. This has happened with EVERY immigrant group in America, including my own family. Irish people were on the same level as black people. Maybe everyone else has managed to forget this, but some of us realize that every time new people show up, the current populace freaks out over the new immigrants and one or two generations later everyone sees how silly it all was. Over and over again. And over and over again, far right politicians play on the racist, ignorant fears of white people that their culture and country are being taken over by the new threat, and make life miserable for the immigrants who are just screwed by nature of having an accent and slightly different cultural customs.

There is no “cultural” defense for racism and xenophobia. And as I have demonstrated, pride in one’s own cultural heritage does not in any way need to extend to treating other people like they’re shit.

@Shannon: A BRILLIANT comment from an enlightened, progressive and secure mind.

        Nuff said…

Ahh, white racism! How did I know that would be your tl;dr answer? *rolls eyes*

    • tmbg says:

I have to say I don’t know much about Le Pen, but after Googling her, her comment about Madonna being old seemed like the pot calling the kettle black. She’s only 43 but looks as old or even older than Madge (and oddly enough, looks a lot like an older Blake Lively).

As for Madonna, would she just quit it with her toy guns? It’s tasteless.

  12. Darlene says:

    sad. tired. attention wh-re. over.

    • MerryHappy says:

      That failed to be witty.
Reality is basically the group consensus and finding common agreement on what is ‘real’ from our group prospective. It tends to differ between cultures, groups, etc. these analyzes stop being projecting/conjecture/opinion and become reality when the mass majority agrees. Look at 89% of the comments that relate to Madonna– we all seem to agree. Sad, tired, hypocritical, and oh so boring.

  13. mewmow says:

Her kids must be so proud. 🙁

  14. Chris says:

If only I could look at the lives and marriages of the losers that post on here. Lol. Bravo Madonna! The only American left with any balls, spunk or integrity. The ageism is beyond hilarious, especially when I see how oldish and ugly the younger generation already look. Lol. Stop putting ugly people in front of me to make yourselves feel better. I love beauty! No more pigs!

    • paola says:

When you say ‘losers that post on here’ do you refer to yourself as well? because after your comment you’re the first of the list.
Madonna as the only american with integrity? are you high or something?!

    • Minty says:

Integrity? HAH, you are unintentionally funny. Madonna was never a beauty. It’s called makeup and soft focus lenses. Her eyes have always been cold. You’ve been drinking way too much of that Kool Aid.

Madonna is the stupid hypocrite who publicly criticized American materialism during her American Life album, while owning multiple homes, wearing fur, and employing an army of security guards, personal assistants, trainers, lawyers, nannies, etc.

She’s the dilettante who claims spirituality in Kabbalah while insulting/disrespecting other religions, particularly the Catholic Church. And she has the nerve to still wear crosses/crucifixes like it’s token jewelry, along with her red string bracelet.

As a former fan, I’ve read many times in interviews in the ’90s where she said inner beauty is more important than outer beauty, character is more important than superficial looks. All that plastic surgery contradicts her pretty words. She certainly doesn’t practice what she preaches.

She made racist statements about black men in Spin magazine: “I went into the jungle, I fucked all those black men and I used black culture in my videos but I’m here to testify that they really are primitive, that they really are the most sexist people on the planet. I used to kind of like black people but I’m not sure I do any more.”

Why is it not surprising that she appropriates black culture (as well as gay culture & youth culture) in her work, yet shows little regard for the originators she copies from? Oh yeah, because it’s purely calculated – steal ideas from multiple sources and pander to every demographic to rake in the cash.

She’s been hours late in starting her concerts on several occasions, causing her fans to miss the last public transportation home because her shows ended much later than scheduled. She’s so considerate.

She often refuses the requests of fans to perform her earlier hits in favor of her current crap. It seems she won’t acknowledge she’s really a nostalgia act now.

Chris, I’m surprised you’re not calling everyone who disagrees with you “haters”. Guess that word is overused now. Newsflash: many of us aren’t fooled by her phoniness. Her succession of personas can’t mask her greed. Her desperation to always be in the spotlight is pitiful. Many of us won’t waste $300 to hear her crappy singing smoothed over by her backup singers. Who needs to see her outdanced by her backup dancers? What suckers to shell out so much money for mediocrity. And now she’ll only give you 30 minutes. LMAO!

      • cupidityrox! says:

        @ Minty
        *applause*,
You have summed up Madonna eloquently. She really is a contradiction & the epitome of do as I say not as I do. I have never been into her or her music & frankly never got the hype.

      • Jaded says:

@ Minty – great post! Madonna is nothing more than a chameleon who will do or say anything that she thinks will garner more publicity for her. She sees everything, and everyone, as nothing more than a means to her end. She views her body as nothing to do with sex and everything to do with self-marketing. She is as fake as a three-dollar bill but boy has she duped alot of people.

Even her charitable work is fake. Her Raising Malawi organization is in shambles, $8 million in funds have disappeared and her whole board was fired. It’s basically only an arm of the Kabbalah organization called Spirituality for Kids. Plans for the school she intended to build in Malawi have been scrapped at a cost of millions. Her efforts at philanthropy have failed miserably but she won’t take advice from experts on how best to utilize money raised to help the country she outwardly champions.

She should put her money where her mouth is because what comes out of her mouth is at best uneducated and at worst said only to titillate.

      • Minty says:

Hi cupidityrox! Thank you for the kind words.

You were lucky not to be fooled by her. You sure saved some money. Perhaps you were just astute at an early age?

I was a fan of hers when I was a teen. Sadly, I bought into her fake rebel persona. I liked her music written by other people. But I was young. Young people favor celebrities who get their parents’ disapproval. At 16, I didn’t see yet how her actions didn’t match her words. I was still distracted by the sexual imagery and the manufactured controversy.

      • Minty says:

Thanks Jaded! Love your post, particularly the description of Madonna’s fake charity. No wonder she never talks about Raising Malawi these days. IIRC, her brother said she started it (and adopted orphans from other countries) to compete with Angelina for favorable public opinion.

I read somewhere that the offshoot Kabbalah Centre she’s part of functions similarly to Tom Cruise and Scientology. Both groups are pyramid scheme moneymaking scams. Both she and Cruise are the PR faces of their respective “religions”. Like David Miscavige with Tom, Madonna is sucked up to by Philip and Karen Berg. Essentially, they tell her she’s in her position of fame and fortune because she is so special and favored by God. Ugh. More delusion to feed her ever-hungry ego.

    • ZenB!tch says:

I agree with everything Minty said above but I want to add one thing.

How can you call us ageist when a lot of us have said we have never liked her. I’ve disliked her since I was 14 and was 26. How is that ageist? Because she is older than I am. She makes her age an issue by doing whatever it is she does to her face and sinew. She’s looked ridiculous for years by her own choosing and very prematurely.

Lastly, why do her fans throw out the term “ageist” when they don’t like us telling the truth – she looks ridiculous. When we said it about Mick Jagger, there was not a peep. That could be construed as sexist.

She like Mick puts herself out there for those comments.

    • Jennifer says:

She obviously does NOT have balls.

More like Jumbo stale unedible thrown-out KFC rejects… Do you realize how much I’m going to have to drink tonight to erase that from my eyeballs??

  16. @Kaiser says:

    Re: W,

To be fair, great many British conservatives during the inter-war years were Fascist or Nazi sympathizers. Churchill for example was a fan of Mussolini until 1937 or so.

It’s rather hard to single them out when so many others too were Far Right sympathizers. Besides, the worst evils of Nazism were yet in the future. When the two were being pro-Nazi, neither Shoah nor the Hunger Plan in the East was yet in existence.

Moreover, it wasn’t as if the British had any moral leg to stand on. When they weren’t busy executing Iraqi civilians, they were sure busy massacring unarmed Indian civilians.

  17. Chatcat says:

In picture #2, she looks like Nora Desmond from Sunset Blvd fame (has-been actress who lives in fantasy world of her long gone glory days). In the last picture, Lordy, Madge, I do not want to see pictures of your semi-exposed crotch and wonder how much waxing you do! Gross! She and I are close in age but now looking at her pictures is like looking at my mother. Aging gracefully dear? NOT.

    • Sloane Wyatt says:

“It’s the cassette players that got small!”

M hasn’t changed up her ‘shock’ schtick of nudity sells, but she should really consider it. The current crop of vocally challenged PopTarts should put it away too.

  20. bagladey says:

What is wrong with that old woman? What do her children think of her exposing herself publicly like that?

  21. Random Devotchka says:

Madge is a performer, she needs to shut up and perform.

  22. Jo 'Mama' Besser says:

So the Le Pens aren’t a gaggle of backwards racists, now? I’m not really *into* Madonna, but her own inconsistencies aside I don’t have a problem with people ridiculing glorified neo-Nazis. This is a movement on the other side of WWII that looks back at that time with admiration (if they acknowledge it). I’m sure they love getting ammo for their Persecuted Persecutors Fanny Pack, but this isn’t the instance in which the world will say, ‘I GET it, now. This attack coming from Buckingham Salt ‘N’ Pepper Ex-Pat Snatch has turned my whole world view around. Pop music has gone too far, let’s go burn down Abbey Road–for PEACE!’ Oh Marine, you’re so witty and trenchant, let’s all register with the National Front right now–for PEACE!! I just don’t imagine that impressionable kids are going to start going to Fascist rallies to spite Madonna. That last photo was full-on health class meets grindhouse traumatic, but it can’t be any worse than up Brigitte ‘And God Created Vichy Government’ Bardot’s arse.

  23. Merritt says:

Marine Le Pen, and her father are bigots. End of story. Neither of them are worth an apology.

  24. Ailine says:

Why doesn’t Madonna just do playboy or some more nude shoots already? She’s obviously desperate for everyone to know that her body’s hot. Yes, Madonna, you have a hot bod. Even at fifty-whatever. How about a halfway decent album?

    • TexTRex says:

Please no! Did you not see the “Sex” book? In a sling with 2 chicks? lying in a 69 position naked with a dog? grinding on Naomi c and big daddy Kane? That was decades ago!

This family’s politics are disgusting. They’re Holocaust deniers, entirely xenophobic and share a long personal friendship with the deeply, deeply anti-Muslim Bardot who has little else to say these days about anything that isn’t in support of their troublingly far-right ideals. They’re neo-Nazis under a different name, what’s to defend? Hell’s horses…

  27. M3l says:

Cheers! I’m trying to stay awake to watch the opening ceremony and the last pic helps a lot.

  28. Krock says:

That last pic is now burned in my retinas. Thanks! :/

  29. the original bellaluna says:

She’s just trying to remain “edgy” and “avant guarde” at this point.

Someone needs to tell her that she’s coming off as simply desperate and pathetic.

    • skuddles says:

I tell her all the time bella but the silly beyotch never listens! 😀

      • the original bellaluna says:

skuddles – Add my 2 cents worth: Knock it off, Madge! Have a little dignity to go with your fake-British-really-from Michigan-self! 😀

  30. Katija says:

You can go on and on about the Le Pens’ and France’s tumultuous political state for days.

You could find the Le Pens’ desire to stop the Islamic influx in their culture as decidedly racist, or as a push to preserve their own rich culture.

You could argue that Marine does not automatically hold her father’s “Holohoax” (sickening term) beliefs, or you could claim that the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.

You could make all these claims… OR YOU COULD SHUT UP AND SING LIKE A VIRGIN YOU AGING PROSTITUTE.

(Also… someone want to tell Aunty Esther, as the DJs in Israel used to call her, that the Israeli parliament supports efforts to quell Islamisation in the West, and that she can’t pick and choose what she believes in per country? What. A. PANDERER. Will you Catholics please take her back now? Us Jews are REALLY sick of her.)

    • Jo 'Mama' Besser says:

It’s the old ‘source vs. message’ dilemma. To my mind, even if it’s coming from a place you find unsympathetic, someone might manage to say something that resonates so deeply you almost forget the rest for a few seconds. Yes, there’s a machine powering her antics and she’s got an odd relationship to the subject so I understand why this isn’t cutting any ice with a lot a of people. She’s sometimes irritating and silly in her stridency, but she’s no threat and she’s not a Le Pen. That’s the bottom line for me. I don’t particularly care for her so frequently flashing us, but she’s always been in the background for me, and I hate what the Le Pens stand for more than I feel anything for her, positive or negative.

      • crazycatlady says:

I have to agree with Katija. She’s a musical performer, not a f*g politician. Yes, everyone has the right to voice their views, but I don’t think her audience pays piles of of their hard-earned dollars to go hear her talk politics. And I don’t think it provides any added entertainment. If she feels compelled to talk Nazis, she should do it elsewhere.

  31. k says:

I’m starting to think Madonna’s hats are laced with heavy metals.

  32. paola says:

45 minutes to perform and she wastes 15 minutes talking about a french politician that might even be a nazi, but why doesn’t she go and $hit on american politicians first? If i was at the concert i would have asked my money back too, she is a performer so she should at least perform for the due time and then talk.

  33. lisa2 says:

I know people rag on her.

but DAMN she is Madonna.. It’s just sad that she forgot that. She never needed to be what the younger ones were. Most of them were trying to be her.

She fogot.. and that is all kinds of SAD SAD SAD

    • ZenB!tch says:

I’ve never been a fan. However, she did not forget. She is so obsessed with youth that for her that doesn’t matter. She started this silliness a long time ago. She may be 55 now but she was overdoing the botox and the workouts at 40 when there was no need. She thinks being “Madonna” is not good enough. She thinks being 30 is what makes her valuable. She is pathetically trying to keep up with Gaga and Katy when she could and should be showing them what to do next. You’re right, it is sad. I hope she can take the hate because she brought it upon herself.

  34. phoenix says:

I watched the show. It was live streamed and about 80,000 people were watching with a total of 300,000 page hits. It was a club show so I know people probably knew it was going to be short. She has done similar small club shows to promote her albums. She thanked people for waiting outside all night to get in, so this was a special event. Most of these things are free, so I think if people paid it was all on the black market, but if not, these were hardcore fans.

That being said. The performance was horrible and made me averse to seeing her full show when it comes to the States. She really can’t sing very well live and she looked tired. The oversexualized nature of the show truly is embarassing for her in my humble opinion and I have never felt that way in the past. She looks older than she ever has and her choice of choreography does not have to be so incredibly sexed up. She also could sing some of her monster hits from the 80s instead of retreads of nonhits like “Justify my Love” and “Candy Shop”. I don’t understand what her career aims are at this point, but I know Andrew Lloyd Webber wanted her for a film version of “Sunset Boulevard”, which of course she would never take, but I think that would’ve been great.

On a positive note, I liked her performance of “Masterpiece”. Her speech was nice although compared to Gaga at this point, she sounds kind of mousey when making declarations and it would be nice if she didn’t take herself so seriously since she’s so eccentric.

  35. lucy2 says:

She’s certainly entitled to her opinion about politicians, but the people who paid $300 are entitled to a concert performance, and it sounds like she barely gave them one.

  36. Jaded says:

How the f*ck dare she lecture adults on politics – who does she think she is, a Rhodes Scholar?? This woman, who revised history in her movie to show Edward VIII and Wallis as a lovely, non-Nazi sympathetic couple who just fell in love and were treated horribly by the royal family, is actually pontificating to her audience? What a f*cking idiot.

  37. Katija says:

    Setlist Here:

    http://www.setlist.fm/setlist/madonna/2012/lolympia-bruno-coquatrix-paris-france-4bdc8322.html

Did she put all of her songs into a hat and pick at random? So bizarre.

  38. madpoe says:

ok great, now I’ve got cooties in my eyes from looking at her biscuit!

  39. skuddles says:

I’m deeply confused by that last pic of her with her legs spread. What in the name of WHAT am I looking at?? I see thong material covering the coochie and then… this huge expanse of flesh on either side… dear gawd, is it that big??? I’d usually never comment on another gal’s muffster but this one freaks me out!

    • mary jane says:

      Oh my God you’re RIGHT!

I was just reading everyone’s thoughts, never looked at the pics and said oh gotta go see what that’s about….

Could it really be that big?

    • The Original Denise says:

      LOL! Terrifying, just terrifying!!

  40. Kris says:

Ugh, Madonna really pisses me off. She is ridiculously weathly yet still charges insane fees for her increasingly crappy performances. I’ve been to close to 80 concerts in my life and I’ve seen some amazing performers but hands down the best concert I ever went to was Garth Brooks, and that ticket only cost $17.50. And that was at the HEIGHT of his fame. He always refused to jack up his ticket prices because he wanted everyone to be able to enjoy his shows. Madonna could learn a lesson from him.

AND FOR THE LOVE OF GOD WILL SHE KNOCK IT OFF WITH THE DAMN FISHNETS??!!?

  41. nordicgoddess says:

    holy meat curtains!

  42. shannon says:

Hey!!! What the wha … ?? NSFW?!? Try not safe for ANYONE, ANYWHERE, AT ANY TIME. I feel like firing myself after seeing that last pic, and I’m at HOME. PLEASE don’t do that again, I can never un-see that!

  43. TheOneAndOnly says:

Thank you minty and jaded pretty much sums up madonna – she really is pointless and kris remember in the 70s tickets were often no more than 15 – 20 dollars for major stadium rock bands –
its been said before but her political jabbering is just a cover for what a boring empty human being she is and how boring and empty her music has become; hell, willie nelson, tina turner carlos santana are still cranking it out and they enjoy it; not this empty vessel.

  44. laura says:

ugh Kaiser that last picture was shocking, JESUS, but I have to admit you made me laugh with that, this woman why she is like she is huh? I will never understand, she is like a grotesque Vanessa Paradis, the french are lucky and they have Vanessa and other sexy-but-classy singers here we have Madonnas Rihannas Gagas Nikis showing their crotch, so gross, but at least gaga rihanna and niki are 20 something Madonna is 53!! I feel sorry for her children

  45. Aussie girl says:

Omg! Even her biscuit has muscles. Her poor teenage daughter, I would just die if that was my mum!

  46. Aud says:

The difference between European singers and American singers is that the latter appear to think that the audience is some type of collective gynaecologist.

I look at that final picture and think that she has put on her g string the wrong way around. Ouch!

  47. Eleonor says:

    Isn’t that baby Brahim??

  48. julie says:

what we might have found somewhat interesting about her back in the day when she tried to shock us, now just seems like desperate attempts to regain attention. I don’t know what this exposing herself is all about but she seems to think she is a sexpot of some kind which she clearly is not. There is nothing sexy or interesting about Madonna today. She is a completely narcissistic fool who lives in lala land where she thinks the world revolves around her. The only word that comes to mind when I have to think about her is UGH.

  49. lulu says:

You guys are hilarious with your “biscuits”, “bricks”, “muffster”
etc – I don’t want it to end. I agree that Minty and Jaded summed it up well. She has never been much chop (aussie saying) – she has a weak voice, never sings live and, if left to her own devices, has the most shocking taste in clothes (even her brother admitted that). The titles of her songs are peurile and retarded i e “Holiday” ??, “Like A Virgin”???? “Papa Don’t Care” or whatever it was and then turns round and tries to get political, PLLLEASE. I don’t think she saw doing that movie as political _ she’s not that deep – I think she thought it would impress upon people her high regard for history and to keep in favour with the English or the royals. I don’t really want to comment on catholicism but there is sooooo much to say. I have been bewildered by her popularity and put it down to simple tunes for kids. Thanks for the best laugh in a while – more, more………

    • skuddles says:

No worries lulu, it won’t end – after seeing that spread eagle pic I can’t stop fixating on the massive Madge vag. Perhaps she could just scrap the whole singing, dancing, boobie/buscuit baring, politico yarning routine and just sell tickets for a tour of the Grand Vag instead? At least people would get their money’s worth right?? 😀

  50. lulu says:

Julie, I agree completely. Also, the pretentiousness of her naming her daughter Lourdes so she could call her Lola which she didn’t have the guts to do outright (being a sexy/siren sort of name, she felt guilty being catholic. Kate Moss later called her daughter Lila which is gorgeous and a kick in the pants to Madonna (in my opinion). Lourdes means holy water or healing (catholic) waters – it”s enough to make me wretch. Give me a singer with a great voice and great music. Madonna’s songs are like teenage nursery rhymes and that is stretching it a bit. Lock that ripe ol’ poon up – here’s a padlock /_o_/oooooo (abstract version – best I could do) and THROW AWAY THE KEY!

  51. Sue says:

This is so pathetically desperate, it is sad…..

  52. eric says:

Someone should tell her to hang up these costumes, although a woman can be sexy at any age, what I see here is far from sexy, her face looks like it’s suspended by a strings like in that movie “Brazil”.

You know who supports Le Pen, French actor Alain Delon

  53. Str8Shooter says:

She is, and always has been, a desperate piece of TRASH who will stop at nothing for attention and (unsuccessfully) attempting to stay relevant.

  54. Carolyn says:

Oh my eyes, my eyes! Can’t unsee that! I’m with the majority who wishes Madge would give it up, stop touring/making records and um..do whatever else she wants to do. Her music sucks after “Ray of Light”. And that was a while ago now.

  55. DANDILION says:

Guess what Madge.. you are not always Superior …analytical ..able to foresee the consequences of options and events as they include probability and problem solving in their theory., and able to change reasoning of other things that harm and hurt and bring about sadness.. when people who live with their feelings and are dead set against your divine attitude lies, freaky experimental experiences and blatant peekaboo shock exposure, mostly the artistic..uh, need to make money.. Bwahahaha!

  56. crazycatlady says:

Honestly, what IS that between her legs?
