She is great. Amazing actress, but also cool enough to hang out with– which is a lot of celebrities’ game, but it seems real enough with her.

Also boxing is the best. I can’t get through a yoga class (my mind melts– I’m not mature enough to meditate) but I adore kickboxing and martial arts.

    • mike says:

Swimming is the best form of exercise, bar none.

For exercising and learning to fight, “MMA” is probably the best, though you need to be careful to pick the right gym. MMA gyms tend to attract many overly aggressive creeps and if you aren’t careful, you can get yourself groped on the mat.

(This is less of a problem in judo gyms, which have good history of accomodating women. MMA, however, is the bright shiny new thing and there are lots of shady gyms and instructors.)

  2. RHONYC says:

that reminds me (it’s always comes back to memememe, lol)
i still want to take Krav Maga. i wanna learn to kick a*s close range.
hmm, but good for her. 😉

    • paranormalgirl says:

I do Krav Maga. Kicks my ass, but it’s so worth it.

      • Amelia says:

When my cast finally came off a while ago I took it up – best decision *ever*. I defy any creep to try and grope me in a club now.
On a side note – Naomi looks rough. Yet another reason not to get extensions. It’s like one giant mullet.

    • mike says:

      Don’t.

Krav Maga is overhyped, outdated, and in most cases, just plain crappy as self-defense.

For really effective self-defense, MMA is the way to go. Actually, for women, BJJ (Brazillian jiujutsu) is even better. BJJ is all about overcoming size and strength through grappling, which is just what most women need. Best of all, these days many BJJ gyms now teach striking techniques too.

      • Amelia says:

I’ve heard good things about BJJ, might investigate that but I always thought I was a little too weedy for MMA.

      • paranormalgirl says:

I don’t use Krav Maga for self defense purposes. I use it for the workout.

      • RHONYC says:

thanx for the tip…i’ll check BJJ out. anyway i can effectively rip someone’s face off in a jam is swell to me. *curtsies* 😉

  3. Lucy2 says:

Probably training for her role, i wouldn’t think yoga would be good for that!
Harry Potter and the Fresh Prince of Bel Air – the lost installment of the series, where Harry learns to do the Carlton dance.
I’m iffy on celebs in politics but I really have grown to love Elizabeth Banks. She aleays has a great way of getting her point across without being annoying.

    • Tiffany says:

I agree, Lucy. They start filming the 2nd Hunger Games in September…so this is probably training for that.

I am a big fan of Jen, no matter how she choses to work out.

  4. sanna says:

Yoga can be just as good of a workout as boxing/kickboxing, all depending on your body and technique.

  5. danielle says:

That’s awesome that she boxes. Also, Joss Whedon is the bomb!

  6. Ainsley says:

Jennifer Lawrence has a great shape! Thin but still womanly. There are people who act like the only exercise they get is from yoga or pilates but those things will only tone you up if you’re already thin. They don’t really burn calories. When I work out, I want to REALLY work out. I don’t want to waste time.

    • OriginalTiffany says:

Yoga is So NOT a waste of time. I now have muscles everywhere on my body and van bend in amazing way because of it. My muscle spasms have left after 20 years and it’s a great workout that will leave you dripping. It is totally not all OM…

I like mixing things up too, but find yoga to be a total body workout that doesn’t hurt me, it makes me feel strong and feel better. Ballet barre is amazing as well. I was so loving the sportsclub LA/Boston. Great gym, boxing, pilates, yoga, spin, ball, you name it. Heaven.

She looks great, makes me like my thighs a bit better because they are curvy like hers. I usually hate on my outer thighs.

      • Liberty says:

Totally agree! And like you this picture made me so happy, this is exactly my shape! My husband just saw it and said this is your twin. Now I am happier with my thighs too after all this work! Yay. It is soooooo hard to work long days and try to maintain a toned body.

    • ZenB!tch says:

Yoga and Pilates strengthen muscles. I do them for PT vs working out. My back and right leg are a mess but they are a lot better than they were 3 years ago. I can run on the elliptical now – and almost on the threadmill. I basically busted my knee the one time it snowed in North LA in 2009. Yoga and Pilates are basically for mending – either your body or your head or your heart or spirit. For me its a way to get in to working out again. I’ll likely go to barre and kickboxing next. I tried bootcamp and it wasn’t me. I stopped my yoga/pilates because I couldn’t afford it… I’m going back next week Woot but there are still muscles under this darned fat and my back doesnt randomly freeze up any more.

  7. Mia 4S says:

I highly recommend a mix of martial arts classes and yoga classes, the best of both worlds. Go Jennifer!

I’m thrilled Whedon is coming back for Avengers 2…I’m kind of “meh” on the rest of it. He was always a guy who created his own stuff (I’m a HUGE Firefly fan) and this sounds like he is comic book guy for the next few years. Maybe he’ll still be able to do lots of writing for other directors, and that’s good. He’s an amazing writer but a pretty average director.

Marvel needs to watch for overkill, 25 years ago Star Wars fans would have killed for more films and more expanded universe…be careful what you wish for.

    • ZenB!tch says:

I know it’s blasphemy but if it weren’t for those cute boys I would not have liked Avengers. The beginning was a tad slow yeah I get you need to introduce the characters but… The big action scene in the city was way too Michael Bay – except Michael Bay does Michael Bay better. Hawkeye was underused and Iron Man is starting to look dated to me. I’m hoping we see more action and more hot boys and (blasphemy again) less Sam Jackson in the new one.

I was never a Buffy person. Can you tell?

  8. Happy21 says:

    Love Jennifer Lawrence!

Wow, does Brittany Snow ever look different. I’ve always hoped she’d make it big, ever since American Dreams.

Julianne Hough needs to go AWAY! I can’t stand her and don’t think she will ever ‘happen’. She’s going to continue to hover just like she is.

And seriously Jessica Simpson – “What you put in your body mirrors your self worth” That is the biggest load of BS I’ve ever heard. Sometimes I just feel like a burger. Does that mean that I am greasy and hate myself? No, it means I like cheeseburgers on occasion. So if I chose salad, I love myself? I really like Jessica but wish she’d just shut her yap now!

  9. Leaf says:

Massive amount of respect for Elizabeth Banks.

  10. Sara says:

Just saw Hunger Games last week and I didn’t know anything about the movie or books. I am in my mid 30’s so I guess it was more of a thing for the younger people. But boy was I shocked at the concept of the whole thing. I found it disturbing that kids watched something like this and that someone actually wrote a book like this. JMO

    • Elizabeth says:

No more shocking than the kids we have fighting the govt’s wars right here in real life.

    • Tiffany says:

I think the concept of the “games” is supposed to be horrific and disturbing.

    • ZenB!tch says:

I LOVED LOVED LOVED the movie but GAWD I hated the book. I plodded through book 1 which was given to me by a 10 year old (lol) and could just not get through #2. I’ve never been the Dystopian type.

  11. dahlianoir says:

Jennifer has the healthiest body right now. Not sickly thin, just athletic and in a very good shape. The Olympics made me enroll into swimming classes in September. A bit of ass fat to lose ^^

    • MorticiansDoItDeader says:

I was state champion in the 100m butterfly when I was a high school sophomore. It really is the best, most comprehensive form of exercise you can do. If you want to work your arms, put a buoy between your knees and swim with arms only. For legs use only a kick board and no arms. If you can work in some light weight training you’ll be set!

      • OriginalTiffany says:

I love swimming too-our new place has a lap pool and a deep pool. That excites me to no end.
Kickboarding for an hour in the sun, plus 15 min of backstroke with no legs for arms is a great way to spend some time.
You also get equally tan on both sides. You have to keep that in mind:)

Like yoga, it lets you and your brain get reacquainted, nothing to listen to except you.

      • dahlianoir says:

I will! Thanks for the tips! i’ve ordered an expensive swimming suit to motivate me to go often.

  12. venny says:

Boxing is amazing. I used to box competitively – was in the best shape of my life.

    • Incredulous says:

No such thing as an unfit boxer. It whips you into shape and there are worse things in life than learning how to throw a punch or two along the way.

Aside: most fights start off at conversation distance, aka boxing distance. It is a very, very useful thing.

  13. tripmom says:

Screw exercise. I want another one of those bacon chocolate bars. I haven’t had one in ages and they are AMAZING.

  14. iloveretro says:

Anyone know what kind of sunglasses Jennifer is wearing? They’re badass. Much like the rest of her. 🙂

  15. LittleDeadGirl says:

Wow, I’m jealous of her body. It’s perfect. In shape but with curves. Speaking of boxing they have kickboxing classes near me and I was looking into it and it looks fun. Alot of women too.

    • ZenB!tch says:

I thought kickboxing was for women. I rarely see men in any of the little studios I Groupon my way into. I will Groupon my way into any kind of little studio class. I hate the gym.

  16. the original bellaluna says:

I am SO ordering that bacon candy bar!! 😀 (PMS, here I am!)

Damn Ryan to the hottest circles of Hell (his face & hair will melt) for unleashing all these annoying creatures upon us!!

    • Chatcat says:

Bella … my PMS was last week, totally cured with frozen Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups. I can’t do bacon with anything but my eggs 🙁

    • OriginalTiffany says:

The bacon chocolate from Whole Foods is crazy good. Mmmmmm. bacon chocolate…

  17. Rux says:

I take boxing classes twice a week at LA Boxing and I swear by it. It’s cardio, strength training and fat burning mixed into one. It kicks my a$$ every time but it is so worth it. You sweat your tooshie off and it’s fun. Good for her. I am so impressed with her by doing this. It’s also great for taking aggression out.

  18. Lisa says:

Doutzen’s bod is so hot. I love her abs!

  19. Mean Hannah says:

Jennifer looks great but I love that she’s got one of those store rewards tag on her key chain.

  20. ZenB!tch says:

Her hair looks horrible! I LOVE THAT! She didn’t bother to fix it afterward. There is nothing I can’t stand more than women who look fabulous at the gym. She may just become my new favorite actress because of that.

  21. jc126 says:

Stupid question – do you really get punched in the face a lot if you box as a workout? I’m hesitant to get punched in the face, and I have no urge to punch others, but sometimes I think I should do boxing, partly because I may need to back up my coworkers sometime (working in a psych hospital).

  22. ILLNana says:

LOL at Naomi Campbell’s hair! Damn, maybe that’s why she’s such a biotch! I’d be mad if i had bald sides under my weave too. Maybe she should just mohawk it!

  23. Ailine says:

Modeling is not kind to black women’s hair. Straightening and dyeing dries the hair out fast. Then you have the weaves that give you traction alopecia. It’s not surprising. She still looks amazing and really amazing for her age. She also is probably still a total b*tch. Lol
