Britney Spears on her first day at X-Factor: ‘I was having panic attack after panic attack’

The big premiere of X Factor starring Britney Spears, Demi Lovato, L.A. Reid and of course Simon Cowell as judges, is tonight. As part of the build up, Simon has strategically been releasing stories about Britney, because he knows that people are just waiting for her to stir up controversy and/or mess up somehow. Last week, Simon admitted to TMZ that the stories about Britney walking off the X Factor set on her first day were true. This is in contrast to denials made at the time. Simon told TMZ that they tried to smooth the story over with the press, but that it did happen and that Britney had a panic attack. Britney also told Elle Magazine, which she covers this October, that she suffered panic attacks on her first day on set. She said she was “extremely nervous. Like, I was having panic attack after panic attack.”

As part of the big build up to the X-Factor, The Daily Beast has a new profile of Britney’s fiance, Jason Trawick. It’s a well written piece that paints Trawick as a very decent, hardworking guy on one hand but also the architect of Britney’s comeback, and her guardian, on the other. Author Ramin Setoodeh dances around the subject of whether Britney is being manipulated by Trawick. Here are some relevant parts:

Trawick, 40, is often credited with performing a kind of Houdini act on Britney, 30. After her meltdown, which included losing custody of her kids, rehab, hitting paparazzi with her car, being institutionalized, and countless other crazy moments (like the disastrous performance of “Gimme More” at the 2007 MTV Video Music Awards), he—in tandem with her father, Jamie Spears—seemingly helped Britney reappear on planet Earth, at least looking normal. He accomplished this turnaround first as the agent who signed her to William Morris Endeavor Entertainment in 2008. In 2009, their relationship turned romantic. In 2011, Trawick quit his job to focus solely on Britney—and last December, they got engaged.

It’s hard to tell who benefits from this relationship more. Spears is one of the most successful acts in the history of pop music. She’s worth an estimated $200 million and her seven albums have sold more than 100 million copies. But in 2007, after the sad series of bizarre personal episodes, Britney’s career hit a wall. (Through her publicist, Spears declined to comment. Trawick offered to look at questions over email, but never responded.) She returned in her 2009 Circus comeback tour, during which Britney stood glassy-eyed in sold-out arenas, lip-syncing her old hits. Some people noticed the new Spears looked vacant, but it didn’t matter. The tour, an exercise in voyeurism, grossed more than $131 million.

Since 2008, Spears’s dad Jamie has been the sole conservator of her estate. In April a court appointed Trawick as the co-conservator, a situation that arises when a court decides a person “can’t adequately provide food, clothing, and shelter” for herself, says Meg Lodise, a partner at a Los Angeles law firm specializing in conservatorships. In other words, Britney has all the rights of a child.

Nevertheless, she’s poised to debut as a judge on The X Factor this week, and sources say that Trawick was key in convincing her to accept a $15 million, one-year contract to join the Simon Cowell singing Olympics. During audition rounds, gossip sites were salivating at reports that Spears frequently had to abandon her judge’s perch for a break—it became part of the hype of the show—and, according to one TV source, Trawick was always waiting in the wings. To prove that she’s normal, he’s booked her first magazine covers and talk-show appearances in a while.

The Britney press tour kicked off with a story in Elle magazine—Elle released images and interview snippets last week. Trawick appears in one of the photos; they cuddle as he holds a guitar. He also let it slip to the writer that Spears pursued him, not the other way around. “OK, that’s enough information, sweetie,” Spears said, interrupting the story. A few days later, a source told Radar Online that Trawick was lying and that he “had feelings for Britney for a very, very long time.”…

Shy or not, Spears gravitated to Trawick’s outgoing personality, and she started to rely on him more and more. He’s not the typical Ari Gold agent, with the greasy handshake and temper tantrums. According to one close former colleague, Trawick is so easy going, he never even raises his voice. Trawick grew up on Long Island, with dreams of becoming a professional hockey player. When those didn’t pan out, he moved to Hollywood and worked his way up from the agency mailroom. He had a reputation for inserting himself into meetings, but because of his nonthreatening demeanor, nobody objected. Once he became a full-fledged agent, he started handling crossover talent, such as singers who were big enough to big actors and vice versa. His roster included Taylor Swift, Hilary Duff, Paris Hilton, and country star Dwight Yoakam…

Trawick’s former work colleagues liked him, too. But looking back, they noticed a drastic physical transformation once he started dating Spears. The Daily Mail reported he lost 50 pounds by cutting carbs from his diet. He traded his bulky plaid shirts for fitted suits. He always brought a heavy-duty hockey duffel with him to work, but he hit the gym more often and toned down. “If he was working out, he wanted her to join him,” says a source. In an effort to be healthier, he and Spears both vowed to quit smoking together. (He failed.). And nearly everyone I interviewed stressed how good a parental figure he’s been to her sons—Sean Preston, who turns 7 this week, and Jayden James, whose sixth birthday is Wednesday. On Halloween, he’d order their costumes online and he was constantly buying them toys, like Spider-Man and GI Joe action figures.

Let’s remember that Trawick is romantically involved with a woman who has the same legal rights as a child. It sounds like a potentially difficult situation.

We fans and viewers won’t get a glimpse of the real Spears until October. That’s when The X Factor transitions from taped auditions to a live competition, and we see what Spears looks and acts like without the powers of editing. If she self-destructs in front of the world again, X Factor ratings will go through the roof, but at the cost of her own well-being.

[From The Daily Beast]

So I guess we’ll have to see how Britney does on X-Factor, but at least part of that will be down to editing. Since producers acted like Britney was fine, they may just cut her walk-offs out of the show. It’s hard to tell now that Simon has owned up to it though. That was clever, and I know it will get me to tune in.

As for whether Jason is pulling the strings, maybe he is. Maybe that’s what Britney needs at this time. I don’t know. I just hope that if she feels like he’s controlling her she also feels like she doesn’t have to marry him.

Update: Here’s Britney doing the “Gangnam Style” dance on Ellen:

And here’s another video of Britney and Simon’s interview. She does seem nervous to me.

Here’s Britney at a hand and footprint ceremony at Grauman’s for The X-Factor. She looks happier and much more relaxed than we’ve seen her in some time.

Hate the blue dress, but she looks good (on the magazine)…but I hope she’s not being flippant about the term “panic attack”…I get them and they are horrific. I hate it when people say they’re “depressed” when they’re really not, or have some kind of ailment when they really don’t, when other people suffer from them. If she does have panic attacks and I think she mentioned them early on, I wish her health.

    • anon33 says:

I have a history of PTSD (currently in “remission”) and used to get horrific panic attacks too. I wish you the best.
I have to say though, the only celebrity I WOULDN’T doubt on that front is Britney. She seems to be one of the few who has actual credible mental issues. JMO. 🙂

    • Layale says:

I agree with anaon33. I’m guessing she probably did have real ones; because she does have a credible mental issue. I also agree with you that it should not be used a flippant term. I’ve had them since I was 4 years old. (I’m 41 now.) It’s horrific! I thought as I got older, they would lessen, but it’s in fact been the exact opposite.

    • tmbg says:

I’d think she probably did have real ones, given that she does have some mental health issues. Plus she seems nervous quite a bit, especially after her breakdown.

I’ve had a lifetime of anxiety, with it especially kicking in at 13, but my first panic attack was in ’02. It went into “remission” in 2005 under the care of a good psych, but they came back this past year. My psych got the panic part under control, but I get these less severe but still debilitating anxiety attacks, as in the minute I get in the car to go to an appointment, my heart starts palpitating and I’m clammy and shaking.

I was convinced my mitral valve prolapse had come back (it apparently can disappear and reappear and my last echo did not show it) or I had a heart problem, but my doctor said my heart was fine. Plus it’s no coincidence that it happens the minute I’m on my way to somewhere.

It is wrecking my life because I can’t seem to kick it. The medications are only working sometimes and deep breathing doesn’t help much. And I’m too agitated to sit still for meditation.

So I feel for you. I wish no one had anxiety, yet it comforts me to know I’m not alone either. :\

  2. Sisi says:

too bad she’s wearing extensions, her own hair seems so have a great length atm. If the hair had been at shoulder length, it would’ve looked awesome

    • cmc says:

I dunno- usually I’d agree with you but these extensions look clean, brushed and shiny. Her hair looks fantastic like this.

    • zinjojo says:

@Sisi, agree, if her hair were cut at about shoulder length, it would look so much better! I am so over the long fake extensions.

  3. RocketMerry says:

She looks really good in the blue dress! Cute.

As for Travick… well, my guess is Britney will always need a guardian, on some level. If that person happens to also be her husband and care very deeply for her, I guess it would be fine, but maybe she should wait before getting married and see if she can get back into better mental shape, first?
Anywoo, Simon Cowell needs to stop whispering stuff in her ear just for “drama and meltdown” sake. He’s like an older and more aware Valderrama. Sick old b*stard.

  4. RN says:

It does seem as though there’s some life in her eyes again.

    • Gabriella says:

Yes, right? I noticed that too! For a really long time she didn’t do anything live, like shows and interviews, and when she did, she was very awkward.
I really like her in this Elle interview. Though she still seems a little nervous, she is less stiff and so much more lively and comfortable!

    • Magsy says:

Plus a little nip, tuck or surgery helps. Her face looks different around the eyes and nose, forehead. 🙁 She’s still under 30.

  5. brin says:

I hope she does really well on the XFactor, I think she looks great.
Her relationship with Jason is complicated but so far he seems to be a good influence.

  6. Bite me aka aniston says:

Her eyes looook so dead…poor Brit Brit

    • Lauren says:

Meds give you dead eyes. Her family has a history of mental illness. I am not going disparage Brit..she has been to hell and back..and she supports her whole family! Do not forget that awful K-Fed creature..she supports him too.

  7. Starsky says:

She looked/acted normal on Ellen with the Gangnam style guy (the video is on TooFab)

  8. BreeinSEA says:

I love her, always will. Sad to think of her life as one big puppet show. Hopefully that’s not (completely) the case anymore. She just needs to be the goof ball she is and try to enjoy it all. (Easier said than done I’m sure). I’m all about seeing her with anyone besides KFed.

  9. Jayna says:

I saw her on two entertainment shows this week promoting the show. She was adorable and funny. She looks fantastic in that dress.

Re the first day panic attacks, most singers admit to suffering severe stage fright right before a show, throwing up, diarrhea, etc. Maybe it was first day jitters for her in something foreign. I’m rooting for her.

    • ol cranky says:

I saw her too and she seems more with it than expected and seemed to act more like the women I know her age in her reactions to things SImon was saying and the comments she made. The weird thing is that she said NOTHING about panic attacks. When the rumors of her walking off set came up, both she and SImon indicated it was much ado about nothing and that they just all need to break frequently (every 20 minutes) during auditions in front of live audiences.

  10. LucyOriginal says:

She looks great and I think she finally fixed her eyebrows. Go Britney!

  11. phlyfiremama says:

“Let’s remember that Trawick is romantically involved with a woman who has the same legal rights as a child. It sounds like a potentially difficult situation.” That statement says all you need to know about this whole situation. Does anyone else remember “The Story of Frances Farmer”, starring Jessica Lange? Nightmares~

    • dlc says:

I find it very creepy. What happens if she cheats on him? As her co-conservator, how vindictive could he get. Or what if she wants to divorce him? Is she even allowed without his permission? I’m not saying he’s a bad guy, I have no idea, I’m just saying him being her husband/legal controller is a HORRIBLE idea. Although, I wonder if they will really get married – if she can’t control her finances how can she legally make the decision to marry?

  12. Diva says:

You can tell she still doesn’t have that spark in her like she use too. Makes me sad. She still has that sad dead behind the eyes look. I feel like people are really taking advantage of her. I got a soft spot for Brit and I wish her the best.

    • Palefire says:

Me too. I was never by any means a fan of her or her music when she came out. It’s just not even close to my taste. But I so root for her now. I just want to hug her. She’s so sad and dead in the eyes that it literally makes me want to cry and I don’t even know her. I can’t imagine what happened to her to make her feel that way. I hope she snaps back one day. She really does seem like a sweet funny girl. Maybe all that fame and notoriety was too much for her?

      • RuddyZooKeeper says:

Bipolar happened. It’s a mental illness, a disorder. You don’t snap out of it, and hugs don’t make it go away. It is not a respecter of age, gender, race, or socio-economic status.

  13. Meg says:

I can not believe how old she looks. I’d say late 30 early 40. Come on it’s Hollywood I think you can find there some skin care and anti-aging specialists.

    • RobN says:

Your priorities are kind of sad.

      • Meg says:

It’s showbiz. So what do you expect? I must be shallow and superficial because we all know that Brit is not second Nietzsche or Kant. There is no depht or substance in her. She is just a shell. At least it should be a pretty shell.

    • RN says:

The meds that she takes will adversely affect anyone’s skin, no matter what access they have to pricey treatments. It’s the nature of the beast. No one taking those kinds of meds has glowing skin – trust me. Yes, her tanning, smoking and poor diet contributed also, but psych meds are no small beans.

    • Kim says:

Well better to be pretty than healthy, right?

    • jaye says:

To say that she’s just a ‘shell’ is horrible. Celebrity or not, she’s human and susceptible to the same illnesses and issues as anyone else. She just has more money than most and has the bad fortune of having to go through her issues in front of an unforgiving media and, apparently, folks such as yourself.

  14. Sirsnarksalot says:

This relationship has potential to be a little creepy and controlling due to her mental and legal status. I’m guessing that that is why the dad stays on as co conservator. That way there’s a little control over his power. It’s sad tho that she is this “ill” even on meds. I don’t think she should be forced to perform and earn money unless she really still wants to.

    • Starsky says:

you know, i kind of think the business/financial side of the conservativeship is going on as long as it is to prevent current and future lawsuits more than to prevent umbrella wielding bald spears to return. If you see the interview above, she can have a rational discussion and seems pretty mellow.

  15. MJ says:

Gotta be rooting for Brit. Hollywood chewed her up and spit her out. and media was ruthless kicking her while she was down.

I hope and pray she is able to return to a mentally and emotionally healthy woman. And that she figures out who she is and owns that personal power.

    Blessings Brit!

  16. Eleonor says:

I hope she will do well, she seems nervous but I think it’s ok, she has to find her inner confidence again: I bet it must be tough working with all the world waiting for another breakdown.

    • Tiffany says:

On the radio promos for X-Factor, they talk about how they will “bring the crazy”…I think Simon is setting her up for a meltdown for ratings. I hope he doesn’t pull the rug out from under her.

  17. Abigail says:

I saw her on Ellen, and she seemed very, very nervous but genuinely pulled together. She looked great and seemed clear-headed. In moments when she appeared to “forget” she was on-camera — when she was laughing with Simon — she actually sort of came alive. I think this must be very hard for her, but she finally looks to be OK.

    • LucyOriginal says:

      This!

I was never a fan, but my friends liked her and we watched her interviews. She always seemed nervous on interviews. Let’s remember Britney was (and is) a shy person. This was before her health issues.

She seemed articulate, giving her own opinion. Good for her! 🙂

  18. lucy2 says:

I hope this guy is sincere and not just taking advantage. Not a fan of her music or anything, but have wished her well since it became obvious how serious her issues were. Good luck to her on the new show.

  19. RobN says:

It does seem that she’s always going to need somebody watching over her, which is sad, but doesn’t need to be horrible. Her father did a hell of a job stepping in and separating her from a lot of the users in her life; if Trawick had anything less than her best interests at heart, I think Dad would be all over it.

  20. Lauren says:

    Hey ladies,

This may be a strange question here, but does anyone have some good tips on panic attacks??
I’ve been having them ever since ’07 and when I get one I cry for 5/6 hours str8.
I’m gonna try Reiki today for the first time. Hope it helps.

    Anybody some tips?

    • LucyOriginal says:

Lauren, I am sorry to hear that.

I don’t know much about it. I just know that it depends on the symptoms you have. So, treatment can go from breathing exercises to psychological therapy to medications. I hope someone else can give you more details/tips.

    • satty says:

xanax / breathing into a bag (that’s what my doc said)

      • Lauren says:

Hey ladies thanx for the tips!
I don’t have problems breathing thank god, I just cry a looooot. It’s now 7pm(I live in the netherlands) and I already cried 14 times today:/. I tried therapy and now reiki. But I will definitly try your tips!

    • E says:

Hope reiki helps. Personaly I would recommend NLP (=neurolinguistic progamming). Easier to understand if it actually worked and less new-age-y. Search for “NLP coaches” in your area. Take care.

    • Erin says:

I used to suffer from panic attacks often. My doctor put me on a beta-blocker called Atenolol, and ever since then, I RARELY get them. Another bonus aside from keeping my blood pressure in line.

      • dlc says:

Interesting. My bf was getting panic attacks, and went to the doctor for them. They diagnosed him with high blood pressure during the visit, and wanted him to start meds before trying anything else. He hasn’t had a panic attack since.

    • buell says:

I’ve had a severe panic disorder with bouts of agoraphobia for almost 30 years now. I take a 1/2 a .25gm xanax when I have a major episode, carry a small paper lunch bag with me to help when I hyperventilate, I try do a relaxation CD once a day and some sort of exercise… and therapy, lots and lots of therapy.

    • Chell says:

      I have suffered w/panic attacks since ’09.
I have tried medications but didn’t like the side affects. Accupuncture helped a bit to relieve the stress. But what has helped the most has been exercise & just learning how to “talk myself down” when I feel one coming on. And I ALWAYS carry xanax on me just in case all else fails!!! Good Luck!!!

    • bc says:

I suffer from them as well. Regular yoga has helped tremendously. It has also all but cured my lifelong insomnia.

      • Katie Too says:

Yoga is great for panic attacks, I do Bikram, but any method that helps you focus and breathe would be great. Went a few times to a psych and he immediately noticed my shallow breathing, but never realized if the breathing caused the attacks or were a result. Xanax is great for emergency situations, but benzos are scary as hell and should only be used short term. If used too much they can cause rebound attacks. Tolerance with increasing need to up the dosage. Even if you’re a complete non-addictive personality and say it’d never be something you’d do, you might be surprised.

    • moxylady007 says:

      Where did my comment go?

      • moxylady007 says:

UGH! is it because I included a link? dang it. let me try again.

i have had panic attacks since i was 5- i am 30 now. i fought going on an every day medicaiton for years but now I am so happy that I did. Best thing for me. I use lexapro. Also yoga, and meditation. Clonazepam as needed. Running. and go to the shaklee website, i use the stress relief complex under the nutritional health. its been really great for me. it might help you.

    • Ming Lee says:

acupuncture is amazing for getting in touch with your body and its responses to stess/anxiety/panic attacks. it helps the body, mind, and emotions tune into each other and allows you to better manage your body’s reponses to panic attacks etc. like training your body to be stronger against that feeling of panic.
this has worked miracles for me, as someone who would rather avoid taking a pill.

  21. flan says:

I’m really getting an aversion to photoshopped magazine covers. Stopped buying them a while ago.

  22. Will says:

She looks better than she has in years – she deserves to be successful. I’m rooting for Britney.

  23. Brown says:

As a child of the 90s, I will ALWAYS be rooting for Brit. I think I still have the glow-stick from her concert I went to in 1997. Good times.

  24. G says:

Hmmm she’s seems awefully tense to me(the hand wringing). Like it hurts to smile. She’s seems to be on some serious meds to maintain. Still she “looks” better.

  25. Kayla says:

I can’t wait to watch this tonight. She looks good but I still think she should darken her eyebrows a little bit. She’d even better.

  26. mar says:

I think this job was good for her, I really really mean this!

  27. Aileen says:

She looks good to me. For health reasons, they are keeping her under conservatorship, but she is still an adult woman who wants and needs love. I hope Jason is really a good guy for her…he seems nice.

Of course she’s nervous. Can you imagine having a very very public mental breakdown where you were on every gossip blog for weeks at a time? Could you imagine coming back from that? All those pictures are still floating around somewhere on the Internet for her kids to see when they are older. It must be tough to face people after a situation like that. I would probably cry and hide under a rock for fifteen years.

  28. serena says:

I really likes a lot the Elle photos!

  29. QQ says:

Why does she have to be in front of a camera? Why not front a few items a la Cindy Crawford/J.Simpson/ Martha Stewart.. Something like that? I’ve never understood why is it so important to keep putting her out there erforming for?

  30. ShugAveryPee says:

I LOVE LOVE LOVE BRITNEY … I ALWAYS HAVE… but she is a mere shell of her former self… After her and Kevin she just has not been right… It is sad to see karma play this way… I say that because Kevin was very invloved with Shar Jackson and was preggers with their second child when Britney paid for him to come on tour with her as her boy toy … And I wonder was it worth it… I am sure the boys are amazing but look at her mental state… Making all that money and can not even enjoy it because people tell you how to spend… and she for sure DOES NOT need to get married until she is mentally ready to handle her own life… Cause this new husband is husband number 3… she has a history of being with men that take advantage of her… so this would not be good.. She looks ok .. makeup is not so great …

  31. Brit says:

Britney, has always been on some type of medication for depression or bipolar. I remember a documentary of her concert in south America where her mom and her talked about whether today was a good day or a bad day and if she was taking her meds. Im not sure if this was right after the justin/britney break up because she did seem very sad and lonely in this documentary. I also noticed that In a way, felicia, her old assistant, was like a guardian for her during her younger years in the industry and she’s always had someone taking care of her.
I love Britney to death and I want her to succeed. I hope she does well on xfactor and in these photos at graumanns she looks amaizing! I understand she is nervous because the media is so happy to tear her down at any opportunity… Both Matt Lauer and Dianne sawyer treated her terribly in interviews in the past,

    • Diva says:

Do you remember what documentary that was? I think Felicia was the best assistant she had. They should have never gotten rid of her. She seemed to really care about Britney.

  32. Phil says:

Can I just say that Britney doing the x factor has actually made me like her? She just seems, well more grown up now. And I like how they are handling her walking off the set. Simon said they denied it at first because who would want to ever tell the world that their star judge is having problems on the first day? And he knew the media would tear her up.
Good for her! She just seems happy, healthy and using her talent. And yes, I believe she has talent. She knows everything about the music industry and being a star, and I think she is perfect for this judging. Also, I listened to ‘Hold it against me’ before it was autotuned, and she has some damn good pipes.

  33. K-MAC says:

r u kidding me? happy and relaxed? She looks completely crazy and like she is going to pop! Something is so wrong with this girl and I wish people would give her a break. She needs to go away and get out of the spotlight and the world. This poor woman needs a break 🙁

  34. dahlianoir says:

She looks great in that red dress, me want !

  35. Jillian says:

Her eyebrows need some serious help. She must not allow makeup artists to touch them.

  36. d says:

Note to the team styling Britney: stop with the racoon eye makeup business. It is not a good look. That blue dress is AWFUL for her body type. Covering her up is good, but that dress does her no favours. Stop it with the flat-ironing. Like the eye makeup disaster, it’s too harsh. I assume these people get paid enough…they should be smart enough to find better clothing and better makeup artists. The red dress and hair for the Ellen show were better choices. Although i HATE those nude shoes that everyone’s wearing.

Britney’s body language fairly screams anxiety and nervousness. I hpe people are treating her right and letting her know it’s OKAY and are not stressing her out to be perfect all the time. Geez. I still don’t know that she’s surriounded by decent people.
I have mixed feelings about whether she wouldn’t just prefer to retire out of the spotlight and just run a little dance/fitness studio in Louisiana, or whether she does allt his showbiz stuff now as a way of continuing to make money because she likes the high life AND/or because she’s got to feed this machine propping up her brand. maybe it’s both.

But I always get het impression that while she loves to dance and perform, she really really HATES the amount of attention and scrutiny and the pressures she faces from being in showbiz. I really really hope she’s getting proper care for whatever is going on with her.

I think she knows it’s all a fraud (e.g., i don’t think she’s blind to the way she looks in real life vs. the images that get printed in magazines,e tc.), she knows her limitations, but does all this crap, knows it’s all BS, doesn’t give a hoot, primarily becasuse showbiz has chewed her up and spit her out, and so just makes her money and goes home.

It’s all so wierd. I just wish the best for her as a human being.

  37. Angie says:

Seems with it, albeit a bit nervous. Simon seems very protective of her and she looks to him a lot for encouragement. I find it rather sweet. I hope he takes a real role as a mentor for her and doesnt exploit her (too much, or rather, more than this business simply demands, which she well knows, by now.)I dont think she is medicated, honestly, at least not to the extent people would like to think. She’s just very isolated, she gets nervous and conducts herself in a way that would be more befitting of a small, close group, rather than a large audience, because she’s used to interacting that way when not performing, I think. That and the nervousness (which is obviously rooted in an anxiety disorder, just as simple as that, that is probably the reason of ALL of her ‘behaviour’)seem to be enough for people to determine she’s batshit crazy. Nervous breakdowns happen to perfectly normal people. She had a shit ton going on, and it wasn’t mundane stuff, at that. Anyway, as ever, I hate the concern trolling for her. She seems just fine.

I was never a fan of Spears (I think I was already well into adulthood when she hit the scene). However, I never wish anyone ill. I was so sad for her when she had her breakdown. I was really disappointed in the way the press salivated over it all. The look on her face when they carried her out was pure heartbreak.

If you’ve ever suffered a breakdown or severe depression you know how hard it is to claw your way out of the dark sh*t. It does something to your confidence that is hard to get back. It definitely shatters your youthful confidence (that part that hasn’t had the sh!t kick out of it yet). I totally believe her panic attacks. I get them, especially under new stresses. Thank you xanax because without it I’m ready to burst out of my skin to get away from whatever the heck sets it off. Fight or flight is a biotch to control. You know you’re being irrational but you can’t stop the panic. It is embarrassing when it happens. I never had them in my youth but they are a lingering result from a long battle with depression (the soul crushing dark abyss that scares the cr@p out of you b/c you don’t even know how you got there). I’m rooting for her as a fellow human and I hope she is a success even though I’ll never watch that show.

Simon Cowell and his stupid haircut (seriously, you make a gazillion dollars a year and your hair looks like that??!!) will do ANYTHING for ratings.

I never thought I’d say these words, but I kind of feel bad for this girl.

I’ve seen a few interviews with Britney and she does seem more involved, coherent. It’s funny but I believed the reports of Britney having problems when they first came out. Now I’m wondering if they are saying it did happen just for the publicity.

I have panic attacks (social anxiety disorder), I’m on paxil. I’ve been on it for over 10 years & while I don’t have the panic attacks like I use to, who knows what paxil is doing to me in the long term.
I’m sure with Spear’s history, she probably really does have panic attacks of some sort.
