Lady Gaga on ‘fat’ jibes: “I gained, like, 25 pounds… I really don’t feel bad about it”

I’ve heard some mutterings and some outright insults on other sites, and I really didn’t get what the big deal was. Apparently, lots of people have been calling Lady Gaga “fat” lately. Is it weird that I didn’t really see it? These are photos of Gaga from the past week – she’s been hiding her body a little bit more than usual when she goes out, but she still shows off a lot of skin during her stage shows, and there are photos of her looking slightly (SLIGHTLY) heavier. Like, she looks like she’s been carb-loading a bit and enjoying some ice cream and booze. But apparently it’s a thing and now Gaga has to discuss the weight gain and the body-snarking:

Lady Gaga’s revealing costumes during her Amsterdam tour this week have gotten some attention — but not for the clothes themselves. In a new interview with radio host Elvis Duran, the 26-year-old singer admits she’s recently gained some weight.

“I’m dieting right now, because I gained, like, 25 pounds,” Gaga told the radio show (via Huffington Post) before she headed on tour. “And you know I really don’t feel bad about it, not even for a second. I have to be on such a strict diet constantly. It’s hard because it’s a quite vigorous show, so I tend to bulk up, get muscular, and I really don’t like that. So I’m trying to find a new balance.”

Gaga blames her dad Joe Germanotta’s restaurant as the reason for her recent weight gain.

“I love eating pasta and pizza,” says Gaga. “I’m a New York Italian girl. That’s why I have been staying out of New York. My father opened a restaurant. It’s so amazing . . . it’s so freaking delicious, but I’m telling you I gain five pounds every time I go in there. So my dad wants me to eat at the restaurant, and I’m, like, I’ve got to go where I can drink green juice.”

But some may argue that Gaga doesn’t need to go on a diet.

Back in April, the “Born This Way” singer was criticized after she tweeted, “Just killed back to back spin classes. Eating a salad dreaming of a cheeseburger. Pop singers don’t eat. I was born this way.”

In June, Gaga’s good friend Elton John expressed concern over Gaga’s thin frame. She is frail, and she doesn’t eat when she should, and she’s a girl, and it’s tougher for a girl,” John told The Guardian. “She works really hard. She will be in Denmark one night and Saudi Arabia the next. I know how tiny she is and I do worry about her, yes.”

[From Us Weekly]

First of all, Gaga IS tiny. She’s a short girl with a petite, athletic frame and body type. While I see some weight gain, I think “25 pounds” is too high of a figure. Maybe 10 pounds? 15 pounds? But maybe she’s right, and much of it is muscle weight. In which case, I don’t think she should diet. She needs those muscles to perform during her stage shows, obviously. That’s what her body is telling her.

As for the body-snarking… yeah, I don’t really care for Gaga at this point, but I’m not going to bash her for gaining weight, and I don’t think anyone else should either. I take it as a good sign – maybe she’s not on an endless cocaine-and-vodka diet (“The Lohan Method”) anymore. Isn’t that a good thing?

  1. Chris says:

You should post photos from her show in Amsterdam. She looks really fat on these pics.

    • someone says:

i wouldn’t say she looks fat…she looks heavier than usual but that says a lot because she’s always been so tiny. honestly, god forbid you gain some weight at some point in your life. she clearly isn’t unhealthy based on all the dancing she’s doing, unless she’s been drinking too much or something? idk, i just really dislike it when people throw the word fat around, when the person basically looks average weight or maybe a few pounds more.

      • Chris says:

Stars are stars because they are not average. They are selling fantasy. When fantasy is gone they are done. I don’t want to average stars I want to fantasy.

      • flan says:

Glad that Gaga doesn’t listen to you, Chris.

The notion that stars can’t be a fantasy if they have normal body weight is unhealthy and damaging.

      • janie says:

Weight does fluctuate and I understand how that can be difficult when you’re always in the spotlight, but she did not have to wear those fishnet tights with just a thong, or a meat leotard. It looks uncomfortable and try-hard and she would look better if she covered up a little more.

        http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-2205629/Lady-Gaga-shows-new-fuller-figure-gaining-30lbs-favourite-carnivorous-creation.html

      • Minty says:

Wow, Chris. I suppose the obvious and ubiquitous use of Photoshop adds that extra special touch to your illusions, right?

      • mystified says:

Janie, Thanks for the link. Those photos (not so much the ones on this site) definitely show how her choice of clothes do her no favors.

People who wear horribly fitting thongs in public should be prepared to receive less than approving comments.

      • Missykitten says:

        Chris

The truth is all ‘stars’ are totally 100% average. Pretty much everyone is average. They have added marketing so that YOU believe ‘stars’ are not average & you buy what they are selling. You’re being manipulated by marketing, wake up.

As for fat, I don’t see it. She looks like a healthy woman. I wish she would stop with those stupid outfits though. JUST STOP!!!!!!

    • Beta says:

body wise she looks great imo, not fat at all

      • cmc says:

I don’t think she IS fat, but I’d agree that she looks fat in those pictures. Mostly because it looks like they didn’t size up her tour clothes for that show, which just made her look “big” vs. just “bigger”. It’s the same kind of effect that we get from Christina Aguilera, whom I also don’t think is actually fat but makes herself look bigger.

      • Chicagogurl17 says:

She looks great in my opinion. Girl has been on tour for like 30 of the last 36 months. When she first started out, she had a little moe meat, about 10 pounds less than here and I always thought she looked better that way, but how hard it must be to pack weight on and then dance for 3-4hrs a day? Everyone should cut her some slack. Also, she’s not 22 anymore, weight happens. Must mean she’s happy.

      • Lm says:

        @Chicagogurl17

If she can pack on the pounds while “dancing” for hours each day she sure must eat like a pig!

    • Honey Poo Poo formally known as beyonce's bump says:

I wouldn’t go as far as saying she is really fat but she does look more stumpy, it sucks gaining weight for us short gals, every morsel of pound gets overblown. I agree she probably gained 10 max

    • Anon73 says:

@Chris, agreed – she did get fatter

    • Me Too says:

Yes she gained weight but the reason those costumes looked as bad as they did is because they’re too tight on a good day. If she had costumes that weren’t as tight, the weight gain would not have been as noticeable and as others have said, she was too skinny before.

Your callous “she’s fat” comment is why there are so many “stars” and just plain regular people who think they have to weigh next to nothing to succeed.

Having said all this, I have to admit, I’m not a Gaga fan. I’d rather her sell her music and forego the drama but I guess that’s what’s made her a star.

    • Father Monster says:

Why do people kiss her fat ass so much? She said that she gained 25 pounds. Stop making excuses. She looks fat and deal with it. You have no problem with calling other female celebs fat. Double standards. Her fans are delusional.

  2. Jennika says:

Someone was saying it might be alcohol bloat. Oh lord, I could see he going to rehab for publicity later on. She probably doesn’t like the fact that she’s not #1 anymore

    • The Original Tiffany says:

I saw the pics on the DM and was surprised. Her pics from the back in fishnets half pulled down over her panties??? tell the tale.

The Meat corset does her no favors either. I was wondering why she was out and about in gowns, headdresses and clothes when she usually favors a pants less look.

Hey-I’m no fan, but we all fluctuate a bit. She’s really tiny though, about 5.1 or something. Looks like Lohan alcohol bloat maybe she picking up habits from her Cracken buddy. If so, happy double chin.

      • Onasan says:

I agree… the fishnets pulled halfway down her *ss are not a very glam look.
Ironically, she sort of looks like an SNL imitation of her in that getup…

    • bns says:

She has been smoking a lot of weed lately, so maybe she just had the munchies?

      • TheOriginalKitten says:

I smoke weed evey night-it doesn’t make me feel hungry at all. Maybe if you’re smoking shwag/skunk it’ll give you the munchers, but not the good stuff.

I will say that if my dad owned an Italian restaurant, I might be in some deep sh*t though 😉

      • The Original Tiffany says:

I smoke weed daily and it doesn’t make me fat. My meds used too, but not weed.

Alcohol will do it every time though. Count up all those calories.

Weed is the only way I can get any food down…

Girl just needs to stop with the awful stage costumes, but that’s her, I guess.

      • TheOriginalKitten says:

        Alcohol is killer.

I don’t drink during the week, only on weekends and I can tell a HUGE difference in my body by Monday-just the general bloat and grossness from boozing.

By Tuesday, I’m usually (almost) back to normal though.

      • Genevieve says:

Decent weed doesn’t give me the “munchies,” as much as is it makes me appreciate the flavor of good food even more than I usually do. Good, quality smoke shouldn’t do that if you’re weight conscious at all. It’s easy to redirect any tendency toward over-eating to say, watching a movie or completing tasks around the house. I’m generally a size 0-2. If I’ve ever started gaining weight, I sure can’t blame it on weed. Where I live, Mexican skunk weed abounds…I will go without rather than smoke that nastiness.

This is the weight I remember GaGa at when she very first hit the scene around 2007-08, right? Actually she was probably a good 10-15 lbs. heavier that she is now. I actually think her body type lends itself to a little weight gain. She looks better to me here than when she’s been at her scrawniest.

She seems so out of it in her interviews….can’t determine how much of that is “tryhard” or possible substance abuse…?

      • TheOriginalKitten says:

@Gen-major issue with my last batch-MOLD.
I was told to burp the jar daily, which I did, but it was prematurely sold to me. Clearly.

After much additional curing, it’s safe now. Still, the scent/taste is a bit *off*.

        Meh. Does the trick.

Agree with you about skunk. I would never go back to *Boston brown* any more than I would drink a 40 oz of old English. It was ok in college but now, not so much.

      • The Original Tiffany says:

Why are you making me miss my home state so damned much??? I a medical marijuana patient and yes, Boston’s weed sucked. Didn’t find anything good until the end. Thankfully, I had sent some with the car.

I’m almost out…eeek! DC has been proving tough. Ah, CA and 16 other states, you rock. Living is Amsterdam for three months was pretty awesome too. I was alone, with kids and hubs off to work. Free to wander alone or with friends. OK, I am driving myself nuts.

My mom’s Italian cooking makes me gain weight, so I feel her pain there. 😉 I also enjoy my height, way easier to hide 10 pounds than the petite girls out there. I used to dream of being short, now I’m good with tall, seeing Xtina, Gaga, J Simp put on 10 looks like a lot more.

      • Isa says:

I guess I never had the good stuff because it always made me hungry, I didn’t mind.
Even now that I haven’t smoked in years one of my favorite things to do is drink margaritas and eat. Sigh I’m such a fat girl waiting to happen.

      • TheOriginalKitten says:

It’s all about who you know. If you’re buying from some random in the city-yeah, you’re shit out of luck. LOTS of college kids in this town that don’t know their ass from their elbow and will pay for junk.

No serious pot-smoker in Boston gets weed from anywhere except Vermont and personally, I think VT weed trumps all.

My connect grows his own so he’s responsible for curing. I guess he was a bit impatient :/

Eh, it helps if you’re taller, yeah, but I don’t think it’s a height thing in their case. I think it’s the way they’re gaining weight-meaning what they’re gaining it FROM. I’m 5’4″ and the 15 lbs I gained isn’t obvious, mainly because I gained it while still eating healthy/working out. Not like I gained it from eating buttered pop tarts and drinking booze 😉

      • Genevieve says:

@ OKitt…MOLD on the green? Sacre BLEU!!! Yep, that would really burn my buzz. Sorry, babe 🙁

@ OTiff…we share a love of good Italian food. Uh-huh, I thank God every day for my 5’9″. Used to make me so self-conscious I could *die* when I was a teen, but have fully embraced it since my twenties. It does allow us kangaroos to carry a little more in the pouch, if we’re foodies. Know what I mean? 😉

      • Bodhi says:

Ohhhh good weed, I miss it so… I wish we could afford it more often. I know that a lot of my pudge is booze related & I’d so much more rather smoke than drink, but booze is so much cheaper & more easily accessible…

    • V4Real says:

I am not putting her down because of her weight but usually when artists go on tour they tend to lose weight due to the stress of being on tour and performing every night. It’s the opposite for her. She claims some of it is muscle gain but I don’t see it because muscle gain tends to make you look thick but still otherwise tone. In those pics on TMZ she just looked chunky. Take Serena Willimas for example, she is a thick girl but her body is very toned and tight. Gaga is starting to look like Christina Aguilera from behind when she was heavier.

  3. KellyinSeattle says:

Look out Courtney Stodden; mama’s got a new pair of shoes 🙂
I think she looks fine if she’d just pick out some decent outfits. Yes, hope it’s not alcohol bloat. I doubt she’s gained 25 lbs; maybe 10 or 15….

    • themummy says:

She said herself that she gained 25 lbs…it’s not people speculating that she gained 25 lbs. She’s not going to lie and say she gained 15 more lbs than she did. She gained 25 lbs. So what. I don’t know why people are disputing her own actual words. This is like the third post so far to do that. That said, I wish she didn’t address it. It feeds the body-snarking, body-shaming monster. Although…the back view of her in the panties and fishnets is pretty atrocious. But that’s as much a poor choice of outfit as anything else.

      • Kelbee says:

Afreakingmen to that. Does the body shaming have an extra hint of negativity this morning or am I imagining things?

Also, I don’t think fishnets have ever done anyone’s butt any favors.

  4. Tillie says:

I think Gaga looks great. It is ridiculous to call her fat. And is very insulting to A LOT of women.

  5. tripmom says:

She looks a little softer. She doesn’t look unhealthy, certainly.

  6. Ginger says:

I personally think she looks great. I don’t see the whole “fat” thing at all. So what if she’s gained weight? Obviously, she will lose it while she’s touring from the vigorous stage shows she puts on. But what’s with the hair and the shoes??? She is an odd bird when it comes to style.

  7. bea says:

I can’t help feel that she gained weight on purpose. In the pics from her show she’s really playing up the unflattering, ill-fitting costume thing. Seems performance-artish.

In any case – she looks good curvy.

  8. lem says:

Her weight gain is irrelevant. The biggest issue with the pictures that have come out is that her outfits are no longer flattering. Isn’t that something this site always differentiates– being fat/bigger/etc. versus dressing for your actual size? The recent concert photos are not flattering because her outfit(s) are not the proper size. If she’s dressed in clothing/costumes that actually fit her, she looks great. Stuff any size into something too small, and it’s not going to be flattering.

    • StephanieMarie2685 says:

I think you hit the nail on the head here. It’s a question of fit.
Some of those pics (like the ones with the weird tarzan panel down front and back but showing thigh) she looks great, then the ones where her undies are pulled down a bit with the tights, not so great.

    • hairball says:

Agree. Everyone can gain weight at some point in their lives. But don’t go out in a thong. There are lots of flattering outfits she could have worn instead and this would not be an issue at all.

  9. Jayna says:

She doesn’t have to feel bad about it. But wearing a skimpy thong on stage in a costume made for you thinner when you’ve gained 25 pounds is silly. If you are flabbier and heavier, why are you in a thong on stage with your ass hanging out? It only invites comments. And I want my popstars looking great in skimpy outfits, not Christina and Gaga wearing inappropriate outfits for their weight gain. Gaga still looks nice in other clothes. Get out of the thongs and wear some of your hot avant garde costumes, like you already wear on stage, and look great in, and this topic wouldn’t even be going on. No one reported on her weight gain until she hit the stage with rolls in a thong. No one was commenting before the thong incident, because she looks great in all her other outfits she’s wearing that fit her body style now.

    • lw says:

      Totally agree.

    • TheOriginalKitten says:

I agree about the bad outfits but I always wonder if maybe they look good to these celebs when they’re looking in the mirror? I’ve worn stuff that I thought looked good and then later saw pics and was like “WTF was I thinking?”

Then again, you would think that her stylist & team would take photos of the costumes to be sure…meh.

  10. L says:

Considering these same little monster fans were the ones who were yelling that she was to skinny and needed to eat something-they just need to sit down already.

I think she looks great. She’s back at the weight she was when she first came out with Just Dance 4 or 5 years back. Other than the plastic surgery and her outfit changes she’s had since then she looks like her younger self.

  11. some bitch says:

As much as I don’t like this girl, Gaga is tiny and her slight weight gain isn’t really that big a deal. She was curvy when she first came on the scene and then got skeletal in 2009- sooner or later that weight’s gonna come back.

However she does look incredibly budget these days.

    • themummy says:

Just playing the devil’s advocate (not that he needs one)…but when you’re 5’1″ 25 lbs is a MAJOR weight gain…nothing “slight” about it.

      • some bitch says:

I don’t buy that she gained 25 lb. That’s a lot of weight to gain on any frame, probably closer to 10 or 15 lb.

  12. heatheradair says:

I sort of want to scream at the entire internet sometimes.

Hey internets: ENOUGH with the body-shaming, it’s RIDICULOUS.

One of the many ways we allow ourselves to be undercut and objectified is to allow stories about women to inevitably circle back to the weight/plastic surgery/body-shaming, and to participate in it like sport…..

  13. jojo says:

Does she look like Molly Shannon’s character Mary Catherine Gallager to anyone else? Can I get a witness?

  14. bns says:

If you ignore the partially shaved head, she looks really beautiful in these candids.

  15. TheOriginalKitten says:

Yeah let’s all shame her for the weight gain so that she turns back to her coke-and-vodka diet. *eye roll*

I saw the DM pics-yeah she put on weight but they were taken at TERRIBLE angles, camera down low, pointing up, and she was half-naked, in a terrible, unflattering costume so I think it looked worse than it really is.

If you look at pics of her before she got famous, she was always a bit bigger than when she’s touring and super-skinny.

Anyway, I gained 15 lbs over the past year, I’d like to lose 5 but I know what she means by saying she’s fine with it. She probably knows her body and knows how to let loose with the diet and when to reel it in.

I am SO exhausted by the incessant criticism of women’s bodies. It’s just so wrong to put that kind of negativity out there.

This being said, I still hate her for wearing fur-just had to add that 🙂

    • Lizi says:

I hate her for wearing fur too! Previously she only bothered me for being so acknowledged by her bad, bad, bad, bad music. But hey,the world is filled with bad music, bad books, bad movies, bad people…*sigh* At least her singing skills don’t suck sometimes. But fur is unacceptable, f–k gaga!

  16. RobN says:

At 5’1″, 25 pounds is a lot of weight. She’s the one who said it was 25, so why are people trying to say it looks more like 10?

She looks quite overweight in the fishnet pictures, she’s made a big issue out of her looks and it’s a fairly sudden weight gain, so obviously people are going to comment on it.

  17. JB says:

She needs a larger size in costumes- she is NOT fat! She is a beautiful person.

  18. RN says:

Did her butcher have to let out her meat corset?

  19. RN says:

Did her butcher have to let out her meat dress?

  20. ramona says:

I don’t like Gaga, but I won’t call her “fat”. I will say that I think she looks noticably bigger and that she’s dressing in a way that’s not doing her any favours.

However, I don’t think anybody needs to wear a thong and fishnets, no matter how svelte and toned they are. Not a cute look. Pants are great, give’em a whirl.

  21. Kiki says:

    How tall is she?

  22. cd says:

is she meant to look fat in any of these pictures?

and good for her (and the very annoying adele) for not bowing to pressure about their weight.

  23. Marianne says:

I saw her live yesterday and she did NOT look like that! She looked great. Healthy, fit, slim and happy. and to call her fat because of those pics…yikes. I dont think those pics tell the truth thou. wierd angle and maybe she was bloated because of pms? I find it hard to belive she dropped that much fat weight in what, a week?

  24. MashMash says:

She doesnt have an athletic frame, she is pear shaped. Nothing wrong with either, just people keep mislabeling body types.

  25. shewolf says:

I think she looks great, not so gaunt!

  26. Blondie says:

She is a woman, a beautiful woman, and she looks great, no matter her size. Her size does not define her, nor does it define anyone of us.

  27. Bella says:

Shes fat, must be embarrassing to be a little monsturd right now, after all these years of calling Adele/Xtina/Britney fat, their own idol betrays them and bloats up like a whale on crack.

  28. Happy21 says:

    JHC!

I wish that the media and people would knock it off when stars gain a little weight. They are under constant scrutiny and cannot even let themselves be ‘off’ for one minute. I find it nauseating that she is being called FAT! She is not obese, she is a bit heavier. She will lose it as soon as she starts dancing and training again. Leave the poor girl alone!!

    • Zwella Ingrid says:

I’m not a fan but I do know if you are dancing 4 hours a day you have to eat a lot to maintain energy. You have to eat a lot if calories just to keep from losing weight. So if you get used to eating at a high level, when you continue to do do when you are not exercising then obviously you gain. She looks healthy as near as I can tell. She undoubtedly will lose as she performs regularly.

  29. Lm says:

Remind me again why she’s famous.

    • Bella says:

Because she is “an artist”. She sells music aka euro-dance-trash from the ’90 and wears avanguarde clothes aka halloween costumes.

    • Minty says:

She’s famous because she copies Madonna’s famewhore strategy: Appropriate the work and imagery of others while pretending to be original. Hire talented people to write your songs (this is more Madonna), choreograph your dance routines, and design your costumes/shows/videos, but take most of the credit. To stay in the spotlight, manufacture controversy. Focus on style (no matter how superficial) over substance. Pander to every demographic instead of just being yourself. Be shameless in your self-promotion.

That shit has worked well for Madonna and it’s working for Gaga. The only difference is Gaga doesn’t need auto-tune and can play the piano. I always laugh at Madonna’s amateur guitar playing and the silly myth she was the drummer in a band during her early days. Does she ever play drums at all to prove that claim?

      • Christina says:

I know right? And Gaga’s amateur guitar playing is even worse. She makes Madonna look like Jimmy Paige.

  30. Annie says:

I think she has gained *a bit*, however not as much as a lot of people think – the reason being that she always photoshops a load of weight off herself in all her videos. The reality is she has NEVER been as skinny as her videos suggest. I remember around the time of the Telephone video everyone was talking about how “worryingly skinny” Gaga was, yet here is a picture of her on stage from around that time –

    http://boston.barstoolsports.com/files/2010/10/lady-gaga-weight-00-480×720.jpg

Sure, I wouldn’t call this fat but I *do* think she’s a bit too fat for that outfit and she’s a far cry from “worryingly skinny”. I think she’s probably only about 15lb heavier than that now because she’s only around 5’0, right?

She’s actually been steadily gaining ever since she got famous – here she is in 2007 –

    http://t1.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcSA3VWZcOlBIzjIkcXUSCyaa-cCAlQ0Jt9RN2ZPOtGT0dHsy-kLTQ

She also seems to have been a bit on the heavy side in highschool, too.

    • Bella says:

Nice try. She is fat. Stop looking for excuses.

      • Annie says:

Odd comment since I actually think she was kind of chunky even when everyone else though she was underweight. I just do not think she’s gained *that* much between then and now and yes, she does look sorta fat in recent onstage pics and the tight pinchy costumes she insists on wearing probably make it look worse than it is. But this woman is so smoke and mirrors it makes it difficult to accurately judge.

      • flan says:

Why are you so insistent on calling her fat?

Did she insult Twilight or something?

    • Jayna says:

Gaga said she gained 25 pounds. That’s more than a bit on a five foot one person. I take her at her word that she gained 25 pounds.

    • Lm says:

Stop making excuses. She said she gained 25 pounds. You can’t sugar coat that in any way.

    • Annie says:

People are calling her fat because she insists on constantly revealing herself onstage. She doesn’t need to be a waif but I think you at least need a great body for that crap.

  31. Alexis says:

EH, she looks fine. She’s a fine weight to wear normal person clothes and look slim, maybe not crazy naked popstar garb, but who cares? She looks really content and normal — I don’t miss tryhardsuperskinny Gaga.

    • Annie says:

She was never superskinny, except in her imagination. Show me a pic of what you consider her at a “superskinny” weight.

      • TheOriginalKitten says:

We might have different definitions of skinny. This is skinny to me:

        http://www.inquisitr.com/wp-content/2012/02/Lady-Gaga-Skinny.jpg

Might be airbrushed on that one but there are a million candids out there of her looking skinny/tight to me:

        http://l.yimg.com/ck/image/A1120/1120052/300_1120052.jpg

      • Annie says:

Oh, ok, different definitions I guess. To me I’d call that very tight, fit, toned, lean etc but “skinny” doesn’t come to mind at all because she still looks solid with good muscle mass rather than delicate and waify. Superskinny to me would be like a runway model, or Miranda Kerr, or Alexa Chung or Kate Moss in her heyday (but certainly not now). On a more petite girl skinny to me would be like Vanessa Paradis or Audrey Hepburn or Yolandi Visser of Die Antwood.

I’m talking about the 2nd picture of gaga, the first is obviously a digital manip, she NEVER looked like that!

    • Lisa says:

She looked her best in the Telephone video.

  32. anya says:

She looks way better for putting on a bit of weight- more like she was in the days of Just Dance and Pokerface. But she really does need to stop stealing Lana’s look.

  33. danielle says:

good lord. Wish I was that “fat”. Think she looks great.

    • TrustMeOnThis says:

+1! Love the curvier legs on her, especially.
Really, it is ok for your thighs to touch. It is normal!
However the fishnet thing is >.<

  34. Eleonor says:

I don’t think she looks fat, at least she has Xtina problem: she doesn’t dress for her figure, she is more curvy, round, obviously she doesn’t look superfit, but hanging around in panties makes her look bigger than she is.

  35. Genevieve says:

    She’s nasty…fat or thin, she’s just nasty.

  36. Darth says:

She sure is copying Lana Del Rey’s image lately. Wonder who’ll be her next victim. She’s running through them so fast, at this rate there won’t be anyone left in another year and she’ll be forced to retire.

  37. Amy says:

I think all the weight gain is from alcohol/beer. Remember pictures of Gaga when she was still Stefani Germanotta? I feel like she was on the curvier side but she was healthy looking. Then she became Lady Gaga and was tiny and emaciated looking. Now she is fuller and bloated, but I wouldn’t call her fat. I think she should go back to being Stefani Germanotta. She looks a lot prettier and natural in her pre Gaga days. And if she dropped the Gaga persona, people might respect her more and her music.

    • Lisa says:

Don’t think it’s that easy. Once you run with an image, it’s hard to shake. Look at Madonna and Cyndi Lauper (whom Gaga has modeled herself after). When they wanted to be taken seriously, it was a really hard sell.

  38. Devon says:

Is she still dating that hot piece Taylor Kinney? If Uncle Mason doesn’t care, neither should we.

  39. Schnikes says:

She has the worst flapjack titties I’ve ever seen on a young-ish girl with no children.

Paired with that fug face she’s utterly foul!

  40. nicolle buchelli says:

FAT? WTF. SHE LOOKS GOOD. MAN LOVE CURVES , DOGS BONES

  41. TheOneAndOnlyOnly says:

Right on jojo and bella; and you’re forgetting the major corporate and label sponsors that have millions to spend on her unlike most artists – she epitomizes mediocre talent made grand by bad taste and massive corporate marketing, but she’ll be forgotten in 10-15 years.

  42. skuddles says:

Well she shouldn’t feel bad about it, and she was too thin before IMO. But she might want to reconsider some of her stage costumes. Those pics of her onstage in Amsterdam are extremely unflattering.

  43. Umi says:

She sure is looking meaty in that corset.

  44. Lisa says:

This is why I really want to lose 5 lbs. Short girls wear it worse.

  45. Snowpea says:

    I cannot stand Gaga.

She’s such a try hard and so eager to prove that she’s postmodern and edgy that she comes off looking like a total fraud.

I’m afraid the Emperor really WASN’T wearing any clothes.

  46. Shelly says:

My sister smokes that nasty skunk smelling stuff, She says it is really strong but it still freaking stinks.

She is bipolar/anxiety disorder/ocd, so that’s why she smokes it a lot. I personally think she would do better from a med adjustment.

I’m also bipolar/ocd/clinical depression but I don’t use it(I have smoked it though in the past), whats making me fat is my freaking mood stabilizer.

I’m not against pot at all and if I needed it I’d use it, but my sister has a horrible cough most times when she smokes it and I just don’t want that. I’d get the pot butter if I had to use it 😀

On a side note… my sister made pot cookies one time and my Dad got into them not knowing, he vacuumed the house(?)made this huge sandwich out of this big loaf of french bread ate it then went to sleep. Then woke up looking for more cookies, he said they were Reallly good.

We never had the heart to tell him what he did, he’d be horrified 😀

  47. Shy says:

I love those times that we are living in (not really). More and more it comes to time when we will not be allowed to say word “fat” publicly. We will throw words like bitch and shit and other on national television, but we will not be allowed to say word “fat”. Because immediately even slightly overweight people will jump at you and will call you bully. And they will scream and bully YOU in their comments 🙂

Did you notice that people are not even allowed to call someone fat now 🙂 Even celebrity. It’s like some bad and racist word now. You will say “Lady Gaga got fat” and 10 people will jump at you and will call you miserable and sad person that hates fat people 🙂

I understand that every third person in USA is at least little overweight. Because food is very cheap there. That is the only reason. And somehow they take personally every comment about fat. I don’t know why. But this is ridiculous. They are celebrities. We love them because of how they look. No one loves Robert Pattinson for his talent. He has none. They love him because of his look. There are many overweight girls who adore him. And they don’t put posters of Jonah Hill on their walls. They love skinny Edward.

They will bully other people for calling celebrity fat and will say that everyone is pretty and perfect. But if Pattinson will gain weight and will be as overweight as, for example, Jonah Hill – then those same girls will quickly forget about fat Edward and find another skinny pretty face to adore….

So please – celebrities are all about looks. If Gaga gained weight then she is fat. Problem is that she just looked ridiculous in that underwear she puts on on concerts. She doesn’t look fat when she has cloth on. But she has to wear those bras and underwear in concerts. That’s why everyone were so shocked.

You need to stop with all that bulling of people who say word “fat”. And glorifying and celebration of weight with the whole “everyone is beautiful the way they are. And you are bully”. Because it will end up like Wall-E. Did you saw those people in future? They all were so fat that they couldn’t walk. Generation after generation and they ended up on spending their whole life on bed from birth… Weight IS problem. You should not celebrate it.

P.S. Sorry for bad English. Not my first language.

    • flan says:

Your English is fine. You don’t have to worry about it on the internet anyway, with all the ‘Eye am L33t, epic bo$$’ natter from many native speakers.

The problem with calling Gaga fat is that she really isn’t. She looks like a normal woman, who is still quite slender. Calling that fat will hurt lots of healthy, normal women.

And even if she weighed three times as much as she did now… why state the obvious and call her fat?

Making comments about people cheating, lying, swearing, bullying and whatever other nasty things people do seems like a better plan to me than pouring hate on people’s looks, even if they’re celebrities.

      • Annie says:

“fat” and “slender” are subjective term though, it all depends on the people you are used to seeing and your own personal taste. I highly doubt the average American woman would consider Gaga fat, yet 40 years ago when the average person was much thinner more would have considered her so. I promise you she would be considered a real fatty boom batty in Japan, and the British Royal family undoubtedly will consider her fat, as will any culture which prizes thinness in general.

      • flan says:

Was the average person so much thinner in America before? No.

Marilyn Monroe was the sex symbol in the fifties and sixties and she would be considered fat by today’s standards.

If you want to compare it to Japan, we can also compare it to many other countries, where she would still be considered far to skinny to be attractive.

And even in Japan body types have been changing due to a change in diet.

      • Annie says:

That the average American is heaver than 40 years ago though isn’t subjective taste, it is statistical FACT. Marilyn was indeed considered “voluptous” in her day and lots of young girls felt inadequate because they didn’t have boobs like Marilyn or Jane Mansfield. My mom remembers feeling bad because she felt too skinny and not curvy like the movie stars.

I agree some Nigerians would also consider Gaga too skinny for their ideal, and so will guys who are into the bbw look. The point is every woman will always be considered too fat or too skinny according some people’s standards. But I agree with Shy’s comment – why do we get our panties in a twist over the word “fat”? I’ve seen blogs like these almost unanimously agree a woman is “too skinny” and “needs” to gain weight but you never hear anyone say “calling that too skinny will hurt lots of normal healthy women who just happen to be skinny”. If it is socially acceptable to call someone too skinny then it should also be acceptable to say you think someone is fat and should lose a few ibs.

Personally I find Gaga too chubby for my personal taste and I’ve felt that way about her for a couple of years (loved her just dance body though). I don’t only like superskinny, but I am a huge fan of the toned athletic look and if I had grabbable flab, saddlebags, a flat saggy butt and love handles like her I would not wear those revealing outfits like her because I think it’s fugly. But I doubt my opinion matters to her and it shouldn’t matter to you.

  48. dcypher1 says:

I know what its like to be an italian girl too. Its the best food but the most fattening. It sucks ass. Too much carbs.

    • flan says:

Agree. Not Italian but cutting out most carbs from my diet made it a lot easier to stay in shape.

Sometimes I miss it though 🙁

  49. HeartStation says:

Love how all the people on here making excuses for Gaga (a self confessed coke head) are usually the ones who enjoy calling Christina Aguilera fat…

    • flan says:

Are you sure they are the same people?

You refer to *all* the people on here, but I’ve never called Aguilera fat, let alone *enjoyed* calling her fat. I suspect you just made that comment so you can feel better about enjoying calling Gaga fat.

Maybe this is news to you, but not every woman enjoys making nasty comments about the way other women look.

  50. MyLeNe says:

I think she say the truth .. she don’t care about 25 pounds … She is just happy to present a body “so bad” … She like to promote the bad side .. the side that everybody judge like SO UGLY ! MY God i’m so upset and fedup with the bag perception of the body .. make me very very sad

  51. Luls says:

For the very first time ever, I find her to be feminine-looking and attractive.
The combination of darker hair, more weight on her bones, more modest clothing and softer make-up helps in SPADES..
I used to find her very asexual before.

Now if only she’d ditch the fug headgear and ridiculous shoes…

  52. Jill says:

Her craziness is getting old. She just looks more and more like a basketcase instead of someone fashionable. Nikki Minaj is next. The constant clown getups gets really old.

  53. Berryvox says:

She looks more tired than overweight in these photos.

  54. KillBilly says:

    She’s a cow!

  55. KillBilly says:

    She’s huge!

    • flan says:

If you find her huge, I wonder where you’re from.

If you’re American it would really be hilarious if you called someone looking like Gaga huge. You must never go out then.

  56. Hakura says:

The only thing I really notice from those concert pics is her double-chin (which I don’t think is the least bit attractive on anyone). I do agree that her popularity has been winding down.

I think she got a bit full of herself, & will need to get back to where she started out if she’s going to recover her ongoing career.

Don’t like the hair style/color, either.

  57. Mari says:

First off, she gained back the weight she lost when she hit it big, so I don’t think that’s abnormal for her.
Of course that may also mean she’s ingesting much more booze (loads of alcohol ingestion make you puffy).

She desperately needs to quit those crapy “artsy” songs & outfits and go back to the way she was when her first album came out

  58. Steph says:

I’m not a fan of her music but one thing I dislike even more is fat shaming. If she’s fine with her body, what business is it of anyone else? Who cares? And when was the last time there was a controversy like this over a male pop singer?

  59. A. says:

Poor chick! I gained weight like that once, and I was really fine with it because I was far from what you can call fat, or even, chunky. But the thing that hurt the most are the COMMENTS! I had this friend that I knew for years and years, she used to be really chunky and then she lost weight and after she did she’d play pretend like she was aaalways skinny. But I remember her bitchy comment once we were standing infront of the mirror getting ready to go out. She goes, infront of like 15 people: ”OMG can you please tell me how you gained all that weight, cus I’d like to try it too?” (we’re talking about 10-12lbs here) Aaaaah! Well, I’m not going to write what I answered but we’re not friends anymore and I’m back to skinny again 😉

  60. maria says:

i am shocked for the lack of outrage over this. She was very thin and now she looks healthy. Many woman including me complain about the impossible standards of beauty or body type in ‘hollywood’ as they are very unhealthy. I think it is great when any of these ladies eat a meal and not strive to be a size 2 or less. The tabloids always say ‘too fat’ or ‘too thin’ and she looks healthy so perhaps those who think she looks fat should think a minute before publicly saying so and adding to the myth of body and beauty as those comments make girls starve themselves

  61. Denise says:

Everyone is allowed to gain weight, it happens, but I don’t understand not modifying the stage costumes to flatter the new shape rather than making the new bulges so obvious. Britney, Christina, Mariah and now her. I just don’t get it.
