Wow, my celebrity-pregnancy betting pool is WAY off. I had Reese Witherspoon and Drew Barrymore before Sarah Michelle Gellar. Megan Fox is still a ways off, though. Anyway, Sarah Michelle gave birth to a healthy baby boy… “recently”. This seems to be the newest trend in celebrity births and birth announcements – announcing the birth days, sometimes weeks, after the birth and only confirming that it happened “recently”. I need specifics! Us Weekly doesn’t even confirm the name!
Sarah and Freddie’s little Prinze is here! Sarah Michelle Gellar recently gave birth to a baby boy in Los Angeles, her rep confirms exclusively to Us Weekly.
“Sarah Michelle and Freddie Prinze, Jr. are thrilled to announce that they welcomed a baby son into the world this past week,” the rep tells Us.
The little boy is the second child for the Ringer actress, 35, and husband Freddie Prinze Jr., 36, whose daughter Charlotte Grace turned three earlier this month.
“Mother and baby are doing great,” the rep adds. “And Charlotte is VERY excited to be a big sister.”
Us Weekly exclusively broke news of Gellar’s second pregnancy back in April.
“She and Freddie are thrilled,” a friend of the pair told Us of the couple, who celebrated their tenth wedding anniversary on Sept. 1. “They’re amazing parents.”
The duo first met while making the 1997 horror flick I Know What You Did Last Summer — and these days, family comes first for the former kid stars.
“They still have date nights all the time and have a normal life,” an insider told Us. “They both came of age in Hollywood and love working, but their home life is more important to them.”
I think Sarah Michelle and Freddie are probably very normal and down-to-earth people who enjoy flying under the radar for the most part. Sarah Michelle did begin to get pap’d with more frequency ever since she announced her pregnancy back in April, but some of that is just the nature of LA and the celebrity culture – everybody loves photos of babies and of pregnant women. I got in trouble with the SMG-stans earlier this year for talking about some tabloid reports that there was trouble in Sarah Michelle and Freddie’s marriage. Is it possible this is a band-aid baby? Sure, it’s possible. But it’s more likely that they’re just a low-key couple and they didn’t feel the need to rush and tell People Magazine every single detail about SMG’s pregnancy and childbirth.
I wonder what they’ll name the little boy? Probably something normal. I wouldn’t be surprised if they went with Freddie Prinze III either.

Charlotte is such a cute little girl. I appreciate that they didn’t need to live the pregnancy in the papers. I really like them as a couple, and it’s probably because they are so low key. Anyway, congrats for them..

I’m a huge fan of the not announcing the birth immediately. It has always weirded me out that celebrities are in the hospital with this shiny new little baby and are filled with the wonder and the miracle of life and blah blah blah…
And then they issue a statement to the press. It just feels a bit wrong to me.

Love Sarah Michelle Gellar ever since Buffy, she’s a real old hand at this. She doesn’t seek out crazy attention. I’m glad she didnt go into specifics, some things should be kept a little private and I appreciate a celeb who doesn’t rush to tell mags the height, weight and sex of the baby as it’s still being cleaned off.
Now…I can’t wait to see the cute little boy whenever she shows him off.

Speaking as someone who went to high school with a IV and a V, this is categorically not true. There’s nothing that says all the generations have to be alive for the name-it’s kind of the point of adding the numbers at the end.

Ahhh so happy for them. They seem like a great couple. Their little girl is so cute! I wish her show hadn’t been canceled because I actually enjoyed it. Hopefully we’ll be seeing her again on TV.
