Thanks for posting photos of my man!
*looks nervously around to see if Ms KayDoo is in the vicinity*

Happy New Year Celebitchy’ writers and commenters!

I love his impersonations of Owen Wilson and Chris Evans: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J5pkbjMw5ZU
Hugging a fan who wrote him a letter: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NCSVia6jQcE

    • Miss Kiki says:

I thought I’d made it clear that when he’s in a waiscoat he’s mine?! That Owen Wilson one is one of my faves as well.

Yoohoo Mrs Kaydoo, are you not going to come fight for ‘your man’?

      • Miss M says:

Fine. You can have him when he’s wearing the waistcoat. But when he takes it off, he is mine, hahaha 🙂

    • j.eyre says:

      Nom nom nom

      • Miss M says:

        Happy 2013, j.eyre!

      • j.eyre says:

Happy 2013 Agent MOL (I have to rearrange your letters because Agent MOL sounds better and I like the agent and mole {planted spy, not the blind animal}connection)
Anyway, I look forward to many mornings of hot coffee and gossip with all you CBers – I began a list but just knew I would forget someone so just know I mean you all.
I am hopeful for 2013. I have not felt that way in a while.

Thanks to Celebitchy, Kaiser and Behead for taking up the mantle as our fearless leaders.

    • Ms Kay says:

That’s right b!tches, I’m right there, NO ONE touches him!

Anyway… He rubbed my feet this morning from a looking exhausting dinner so… Ta Ta!

      😀

      • Miss M says:

        *Ahem* elaborate, please…

Did you see the reaction of his crazy fan girls over Sian Clifford?

      • Ms Kay says:

        Ah elaborate hmm hmm… 😉

Ah yes his BFF, it was hilariously embarrassing! Tom and Sian go way back since RADA school and a friend of mine graduated the same year as her. She is a feminist, has her head on her shoulders properly and doesn’t take sh!t from anyone. Anyway long story short only delusional girls living in another world think he belongs to them or better yet isn’t allowed to approach any female within 50 feet or so… So much for the whole “ovaries exploding” theory…

      • Miss M says:

They probably fantasize he is celibate, hahaha. Don’t they realize he is a 30-year-old MAN. When Eve sent the link about their delusional shenanigans, I immediately saw online she was a RADA alumni. Even if she wasn’t, let the man has a life!

ps: But I did think they were dating, :). They look cute together…

      • Ms Kay says:

Well that’s the thing they’re not dating; not that BFF can’t fall for each other it can happen, but they’re not dating. People just project that possibility/assumption because he took her to some events lately. It doesn’t cross people mind that they’re friends and enjoy each other company and also he could help expand her network now that he’s in the spotlight by taking her to them events.

Whilst mostly fans (crazy fan girls) prefer him being single, I wonder sometimes how come a man with such qualities is single. So it kinda says one can’t have it all. But anyway he said he’s very driven right now and focuses on his career so let alone romance a girlfriend…

*back to CB fantasy* Until I came along of course and he married me 😀

Anyway boys and girls are allowed to be friends, unfortunately that is something that 95% of Tom Hiddleston fandom won’t understand 🙂

      • Miss M says:

Ms Kay, I always had many guy friends and other friends used to say that is not possible that one of us had a crush on the other. Never got that. I do think he is trying to help her career, nice!

      • j.eyre says:

I totally agree with you, Ms. Kay-Doo. Boys and girls can be friends. I love having male FRIENDS. We have so much in common WITH each other. The BENEFITS are endless.

I intend on becoming Tom’s very best friend ever (maniacal laugh)

      • Eve says:

        @ Miss M:

“They probably fantasize he is celibate, hahaha.”

Problem is…I don’t even think that’s a far fetched fantasy for them. I honestly believe they actually think he’s a celibate — and pining for them (otherwise they wouldn’t go beserk at the mere sight of him with a woman, ANY WOMAN). Seriously, Hiddleston has one of the creepiest fandoms I have ever seen.

As for my imaginary husband…I’d better give him that damn baby so he won’t end up snatching someone else’s!!!

        http://cumberbatchcoffeeklatch.tumblr.com/post/39140029220/from-adam-ackland-introducing-my-new-son-jacob

      • Ms Kay says:

        Eve my dear!

        Long time eh? 🙂

Well anyway most of my friends are males, and I had a massive downfall with only one of them who happens to be a narcissistic. I have a handful of female close friends, say three. As for other gals, it’s just for girls night out have fun etc but the next day we go back to our lives eh.

Well yes Tom Hiddleston fandom is just the creepiest because part it is due to the fact that he eggs them on but we all know it eh; yet on the other hand his fans could be civilized but they choose not to and that’s not the man’s fault.

Haha yes Eve can’t wait to see your encounter with the 3rd type baby 😀

      • Eve says:

Yup, it’s been a long time. I actually saw some of your posts (on other, non-Hiddleston threads) but wasn’t feeling like posting anything — the end of the year makes me deeply depressed.

Anyway, you’re right about him egging his fans. That’s what turned off me a great deal about him — trust me, my dear, we won’t be imaginarily fighting over him any time soon (or ever).

      • Izzy says:

Hello Ladies of the Hiddlesdom! I was waiting for you all to weigh in on the Sian Clifford Tweets-from-Twits fiasco. I love me some Hiddles, but there are levels of crazy for fans, and some of his are completely deranged. And I don’t mean that in any good sense. Thank goodness none have shown up here. Could you imagine the greeting they’d get? 😀

        Happy New Year ladies!

      • Miss M says:

@Eve: I do think they think that, but I still hope they are not so pathetic because if they are…*major eye roll from 1920 with Fitzgerald back to 2013 with Loki at all of them* lol

@j.eyre: mol can also mean that unit called mole used in chemistry 🙂

@Ms KayDoo: I have to go now and get ready, so when I meet my man in 2013 I won’t be the one losing my voice when we meet next year… :).

@Izzy: Thank God, they are not here. Happy New Year to you too!

@J.eyre@Ms KayDoo: most of my friends here in US are males. It’s possible to have a great friendship and what an incredible friendship!

      • EscapedConvent says:

        @ MsKay, Hi Kay-Doo!

        @ Eve:
Eve, I cannot stop giggling at that baby’s expression: “How dare you wake me up to pose for this stupid picture! You just want all your Cumberbitches to get hysterical at the sight of you with another baby. Well, I’m not having it! (gives baby side-eye) You just wait till I can talk, you pale, curly-haired adorable bastard!”

      • T.Fanty says:

That baby is totally stretching his Cumber-bitch slapping hand for when Cumby throws himself through the patio window, and tries to make a daring escape with the child by using the trampoline to vault over the back garden fence. Cumby has a cab and a fake baby passport waiting. The infant senses it.

      • T.Fanty says:

And on the subject of Hiddles’ biscuit-killing (not in a good way) Twitter, I think he totally sees himself as some kind of self-awareness guru. I don’t know the man (boo), so can’t say if it’s naivety or ego, but I really get the impression that he’s trying to “improve” the people who follow him. Which is a) condescending, no matter what the intention, and b) a little insufferable when you realize that he has the taste of a desperately sincere twenty-year old Sarah Lawrence English major. One imagines that being (imaginary or otherwise) involved with Hiddles would be a draining experience. He would definitely weep and compose verse after sex. Cumby, on the other hand, would probably give notes.

      • EscapedConvent says:

T.Fanty, that is a @#*!-ing hilarious vignette & probably not that far-fetched. Cumby wants a baby, but is far too busy making 12 movies at once & popping up in random places all over the globe like a posh alien dweeb in a cardigan. It would be very efficient of him to simply grab a baby & run. Your trampoline-vault idea is most excellent. 🙂

      • Eve says:

        @ T. Fanty:

Absolutely brilliant analysis of Hiddleston’s Twitter. You said it better than I ever could. Don’t be scared but…I think I love you.

        @ EscapedConvent:

The baby looks intrigued by Cumberbatch’s unique appearance. But I agree with T. Fanty — it senses the danger, too.

      • T.Fanty says:

        @Eve:

Love from the esteemed ladies of Celebitchy is always welcome!

    • GoodCapon says:

Thank you for those links Miss M, you elicited a squeal out of me 😀

      Happy New Year!

  4. Cathy says:

Happy New Years to all. Have a safe one. And heres to another year of great gossip. Thanks to Kaiser, CB, and Agent Bedhead.

  5. lylaooo says:

i like tom hiddleston very much….but i would loovee to seee Gaspard Ulliel…. ♥

  6. Amelia says:

Happy New Year, Celebitches! May 2013 be bursting with enough crack shenanigans to keep us entertained all year round!
    Ooh, and Fassdong.
    And Hiddleston . . .
And Cumberbatch – oh! Sherlock series 3 is probably going to be cropping up somewhere, too. Now how *did* he survive that fall?…

    • j.eyre says:

I was just telling Mr. Rochester last night (albeit perhaps a bit too enthusiastically) I was champing at the bit for S3.

How did Moriarty survive the gunshot?

    • EscapedConvent says:

Happy New Year & Silly Waves to all CBees! It was a great year for Hiddles and Cumby posts, no question about it. This site is such great fun and has the cleverest and funniest commenters anywhere on the Webz.

@ Amelia: I am so looking forward to Sherlock 3! I expect there will be a Biblical flood of Cumby-ness in 2013, with both Sherlock & Star Trek. He really will have to move into the CumberFortress. How Sherlock survived the fall—I expect that, with Molly Hooper’s help, he switched bodies in mid-air. He is that brilliant 🙂

  7. Hoya_chick says:

Happy New Year everyone!!!!Wishing lots of happiness and fun for CB, Kaiser and Bedhead as well as all of the commeters who have made cb the best site to come and have a laugh!

  8. V4Real says:

Thank you for photos of my man Tom; what a way to end the year.

CB & Kaiser thanks for keeping us up on the gossip; I’m sure there’s plenty to come in the new year.

I wish all my CB family a very Happy and Safe New Year.

    • Miss M says:

      Exxxccccccccccccccuuuuuuuse me…your man?!

V4real: I will cut you some slack because 2013 is approaching, 🙂

  9. Ms Kay says:

    Awwww MAH husband 🙂

    • Miss M says:

What is that saying? Don’t leave the person you love for someone your desire because someone you desire will leave for someone he/she loves. Is that it?

Translation: don’t leave someone you love for Tom because he will leave you for me, hahahaha…

      • Ms Kay says:

*rolled eyes so hard they kissed my eyebrows*

        Translation: keep dreaming 😀

      • j.eyre says:

But you have to give Agent MOL credit for that one… come on.

Look, whoever has him, can you just write your name on his shirt label so I can return him to you when we are finished with his French lessons?

      • Ms Kay says:

Here is a hint at the label : Tom Hiddleston – NOT for Share!

        😀

      • Miss M says:

        Hahahaha
        * falls off her chair*
        *laughs until cries*

@j.eyre: I want him intact after the French classes…

      • j.eyre says:

yeah – I’m going to need more of a definition on “intact”

    • EscapedConvent says:

@ j.eyre- I looked everywhere for a new definition of “intact” in the case of Hiddles, & I found this:

Tall, sweet scrumptious English crumpet who is so exhausted after French lessons that he can’t speak any of his 4 languages. Can only be identified by shirt label until regains consciousness.

      Will that do?

      • Miss M says:

        *waving to EscapedConvent:Hello!*

@j.eyre: I am sooooooooo generous this year (because it’s almost over, hahaha). I am going to give him the free pass to do whatever he wants during his French classes with you. It’s just one free pass, use wisely. He will come back to me (willingly, of course).

      • EscapedConvent says:

        Hello, Miss M! 🙂

Poor Hiddles is going to have a very busy New Year—what with all the ladies he has to visit, & all those French lessons!

And then, when he finally gets home,Ms KayDoo will be waiting, tapping her foot, wanting to know where he’s been! Uh-oh…:-)

      • j.eyre says:

EsCon darling – I do believe you and I are reading from the same dictionary. This will do nicely. Happiest of New Years to you, my Errant Nun. What will we get ourselves into in 2013? I shiver in anticipation.

Agent MOL, I have left Hiddles untouched today, in the spirit of generosity (and inhuman levels of restraint, I might add.) I placed a few diagrams in his left breast pocket for some ideas you might want to try out – bissous!

As for Kay-Doo and Eve, may this be the year they are fortunate enough to conceive their beloveds children… because pregnant ladies can’t run as fast and we can totally smoke ’em.

Happy New Year, y’all. I am off to pop Mr. Rochester’s cork – peace out!

      • Miss M says:

@J.eyre: “because pregnant ladies can’t run as fast and we can totally smoke ‘em.” Hahahahahaha…

I am here waiting to welcome 2013.

      • EscapedConvent says:

        My dear j.eyre:

Here is what I’m planning for 2013–lots of Cumber-nanigans, some skullduggery, & unrelenting TOM-foolery.

        Are you in? 😉

      • Miss Jupitero says:

Rofl! What a wonderful description of Hiddles! He is as cute as can be, but I suspect his One True Love is none other than Wendy. 😉

I like my British pretty boys, but this one spends a curious amount of time playing with his mustache and cultivating his image. (And the cringeworthy twitter feed– I’m a poet and publisher for real, and that man needs to put away his Robert Bly anthologies and Daily Affirmations books. He is sounding like a bumpersticker.

      • j.eyre says:

        @EsCon – unapologetic-ally in, m’dear.

@Miss Jupitero, Eve, Kay-Doo, T. Fanty et al – I generally do not head advice but just reading your comments here makes me so very glad I abandoned both his Twitter feed and Tumblr at your suggestions log ago. Between the Sarah Lawrence and Robert Bly references, I may need to re-examine my allegiances. But since I have no jump off lined up I shall continue to look and not listen.

    Awww Hiddleston…nom..nom..nom…

  15. Lauli says:

    Happy New Year, everyone.
    Hiddleston is deliciously delicious.

  16. lucy2 says:

That dad video is so cute!
Gone Girl was really good but messed up – read her other book too – also good.

Happy New Year everyone! Have fun and be safe, and let’s hope for a good 2013 for everyone!

    • j.eyre says:

I am on the fence with Gone Girl. I have been avoiding it because it sounds like it would stay with me in an ugly way – thoughts? I liked Lovely Bones when I finally gave in to read that. I did not like The Room when I was talked into that. How much does Girl Gone mess you up?

I just finished The Paris Wife and I really enjoyed that. Starting The Black Count next.

Oh! I would love the occasional book post on CB for us to share thoughts.

      • keats says:

        Omg cb book club.

      • Liane says:

Ooo! Yes! A CB book club.

I really … enjoyed? … Gone Girl. I don’t think it’ll mess you up too much. It’s a pretty fascinating look at people. I finished it a few weeks ago and still think about it, but not with angst.

I just finished reading “Dark Places” by the same author. That one will mess with you for sure.

      • j.eyre says:

I support the CB Book Club idea (and the acronym is reminiscent of ABBA – CBBC)

OK I am going to read Gone Girl and if I don’t make it back – tell M. Dumas I loved him.

I enjoyed Jeffrey Eugenides The Marriage Plot this year. I was surprised by it. Also – Rules of Civility and State of Wonder.

      • Mouse says:

FWIW, (and I know you don’t know me) I…hated Gone Girl. It didn’t mess me up, but I honestly couldn’t find a single character in the book to relate to, let alone root for. They were all grasping, selfish, and ugly. And the ending left me going WTF? SERIOUSLY?

But hey, just my two cents. :o)

      • Apsutter says:

A cb book club would be amazeballs!!! I love to read and I’m always bummed out that I don’t ever have anyone to discuss books with. It makes me miss my AP English classes from high school because I absolutely LOVED in depth discussions on Hamlet, and Grapes of Wrath, Gatsby and all the great literature. It seems like I’m surrounded by people who only read trashy fiction(don’t get me wrong, I love a good YA book but I need some highbrow stuff too!) I’ve actually contemplated trying to find a book club to join because I miss the earnest discussions.

      • lower-case deb says:

ooo.. i love the idea of a book club.
maybe CB can open an open book post where members can share their titles of the week. 🙂 i love to read, but sometimes going to a huge shelf of books just stump me dead.

@j.eyre: btw, CBBC sounds like my kid’s second favorite channel, home of Blue Peter and Horrible Histories. a good thing, in my book.

Happy new year everyone! Many happy returns!

      • j.eyre says:

Well this holds world of possibilities. I am sure the Triumvirate of Gossip has read our requests and we shall see what they decide in the New Year. I love it though. Especially if everyone gets a voice and no work is too small for discussion.
@Apsputter – Gatsby and Grapes are two of my Top 5 books so if nothing else, you and I should sideline on suggestions. And I am currently satirizing Hamlet for a column I do on another site.
@Mouse – no, this is really helpful. That is how I felt about Room (and Dragon Tattoo, if I am to be totally honest) so I appreciate your thoughts.
@l-c deb – what ages are your kids? That sounds like something mine would love. We need an artist for the CBBC logo!
@Bohdi – I have no idea what that is but I am heading over to find out now. I checked out the Pop Sugar link but it looks like the columnist and I don’t have very similar tastes so I only pulled about 5 titles.

      • EscapedConvent says:

I always suspected there were lots of bookworms here! Could use some new book suggestions. Also, I think Mouse mentioned the ending of “Gone Girl.” I was reading some reviews & people were very upset about the ending—so upset that it’s made me very curious to read it.

        @ j.eyre:

What! What’s all this about a Hamlet satire? And who should be Hamlet next—Cumby, Hiddles, or the other Tom? 🙂

      • apsutter says:

If any of you are on goodreads.com they have a list of the best rated books of 2012. Great place for suggestions. I just read “Talking to Girls About Duran Duran” by Rob Sheffield. It was great because I got my fill of 80’s pop(LOVE) and pop culture talk. I also found this list of most anticipated books of 2013 and put a bunch in my amazon wish list. http://www.flavorwire.com/358766/flavorpills-30-most-anticipated-books-of-2013/30

      • Miss M says:

CB book club is a great idea!

      • j.eyre says:

@apsutter – I am on Goodreads, Perhaps we can compare lists? I really like that anticipated link – thanks. I am adding titles as well.

@EsCon – I think I am going to go with Macbeth instead. A fellow contributor requested Hamlet but the fact is, I prefer Macbeth. Maybe R&J – I know that one inside and out. As far as casting – Cumby = Claudius, Other Tom (Hardy?) = Hamlet and Hiddles = Ophelia. And, of course, Oldman and Roth = Rosencrantz and Guilenstein.

    • Bodhi says:

Gone Girl is really good, but I think her first one, Sharp Objects, is better. And WAY more fked up. I read the whole thing in one day & woke up in the middle of the night from a freak out nightmare.

I LOVE the idea of a CB book club!

Have any of y’all done Pajiba’s cannonball read? I’m going to do at least the 1/2 one this year

  17. Jess says:

He’s not someone that I would call hot or sexy but more cute and on the adorable side, not to mention a damn good actor. I hope he gets more roles and eventually wins an Oscar one day. Oh, and Happy New Years to everyone!

  27. Hautie says:

I went over to look at the Canadian Couple @ Lainey’s… and saw the blind item on the front page. Dang it.

The one title: Exes & Wives

~I have guesses… and I want to know what everyone is guessing!

    Comeback kid: Affleck

    Golden: Goopster/Gwyneth

Stripper: weren’t there lots of them?

    Pigtails: Britney!

    Curvier Ex: Lopez

    The wife: Jennifer Garner

    Again.. these are my guesses!

And I want to think that Jennifer Garner is sh*t talking about Gwyneth.

That would actually please me to know… that Jennifer Garner is that girl. The one who is all dimples and smiles…. while she sh*t talks about her husbands obnoxious ex.

Excellent analysis and I agree on your guesses!! I can totes see Garner talking shit on Gwyneth! If I were her I would definitely be hating on Golden over Curvy any day! It’s not like Ben would ever go back to Bennifer..he ran as fast and far away from that as he could. But Gwyneth was a major love for him and she’s the polar opposite of sweet unassuming mom Garner.

He should have gotten some love from SAG or other performance nominating bodies for his Loki. He was such a great and interesting villain. I hope he gets a part in Avengers 2!

  29. Victoria says:

So, you saw him as Rachel Weisz’s lover in The Deep Blue Sea?

  30. Mouse says:

I’m pretty sure he couldn’t look bad/ugly if he tried. ~sigh~

Perfect note to end 2012 on, here’s to a whole lot more of him in 2013! 😀

    • Ms Kay says:

Crazy isn’t it? Also to me one of the most striking is Samuel L. Jackson, when I found out he was 64 I was like O_O what in the ..??? He looks like he’s 50.

    What about Brangelina?

    Why did they disappear?
They used to be all over the news and Angelina was so involved with humanitarian affairs.

Can we please replace Kim Kardashian (what does she do for a living anyways?) and her pregnancy with Brangelina?

    Happy New Year fellow Celebitchies!!

PS – haven’t seen the appeal of Benedict Cumberbatch until I saw the ads for Parade’s End..soon to be shown here in Australia…am beginning to get it.

PPS – OMG Richard Armitage. He’s from Spooks! Yes, pls feature him!!

    • chalkdustgirl says:

@ Carolyn not sure where you’re from, but have you been able to catch RA on BBC America’s Robin Hood? The show has since been cancelled but he’s absolutely hot in the series.

  41. Miss Jupitero says:

    @j.eyre

I’m about to abandon the Twitter feed.

I like him so much, and I think as an actor he is smart and wonderful, but… wow, the relentless positivity, peppy quotes, and “inspirational” homily poems makes me feel like he is simply maintaining a presence for his fans while avoiding revealing any real emotion or introspection. Or aying anything. What would happen if he said something that someone might actually disagree with? There is just too much “trying to please everybody” energy.

Come on Tom, say something with some edge! Put yourself out there! Stop playing it so damned “safe”!

    • Ms Kay says:

      Hello Miss Jupitero,

Introducing myself, Ms Kay formerly known as Dooliloo and now Ms Kay-Doo for those who are familiar. Most importantly, I am Mrs Hiddleston on the CB board (and I have met him in real life), never mind the vultures around… 😉

So here Eve and I have a nickname for him for months now : Parker Hiddleston. Why Parker? Remember the Friends episode The One in Massapequa with Alec Baldwin? Yup there it is 😀

I shall answer at once to everything I read on various Tom Hiddleston threads on CB, so apologies in advance for the long post.

I get what you mean. Still I don’t think his act is a put on. I think he is genuine and sincere in sharing pieces of himself with others. I think once we partake in something that we are passionate and enthusiastic about and we experience the success and ups of it, it comes natural to share the good parts of ourselves with other people. Maybe then as time goes by, negative experiences can make us jaded and then we don’t want to take the risk of showing our good nature lest we get trampled on. Probably his experience in HW and as a public figure so far hasn’t been jaded because his star is still on the rise. Or he has a lot of character to not allow himself to be jaded by negative experiences he has had so far because he knows he’s doing what he loves. Also note that his background and upbringing could have taught him a thing or two about exercising dignity, humility, class and tact on a public platform. Those skills may be helping him to be shrewd in cultivating a persona that protects his vulnerable self from unwanted attention or vicious attacks in the press. Nothing wrong with being safe on that matter, even though it won’t prevent from all danger, it’s still better.

Indeed one can never know what someone is really like just from public appearances and interviews, because, of course, they will be wearing their best face, but I just think Tom Hiddleston is a really nice guy, he seems genuinely appreciative of his fans to the point he feels he owes them that time for their support (and yes opened the Pandora box aka batsh*t crazies). I’m sure he has bad days but he seems very mindful not to project that onto others. I’ve seen interviews where the people who interview him are rude and he looks annoyed, but remains polite. I think that’s just how he is. He just chooses to be the better person.

Anyway, it’s wonderful seeing someone who so genuinely loves what he does and is all verbose about it. I do hope he continues to stay the way he is and not give in to what people think he should do, be etc.

It’s like people are so used to see flawed celebs that this one, one also want him to fail at something… He has flaws no doubt. But again, he chooses to be the better person.

As Bill Cosby said the key to failure is trying to please everybody. Hopefully Tom Hiddleston is certainly smart enough to know where he stands. Twitter is just a mere part of what we know about him, and people interpret it whichever suits them best but it can never be an unanimous opinion. But I find it interesting, as different parties can share and discuss their opinion.

The world is already a sh!tty place; if a person like him happened to be in my circle of people, hell I’d take his overenthusiastic vibe anytime, and if I want to go morose again, well I just go back to my bills, two-faced friends and turn on the TV to watch even more depressing news about more wars, more economic crisis and unemployment on the raise etc. Fair balance eh…

      • Miss M says:

        Co-sign Ms KayDoo! Well said!

I agree with everything you said, especially these two statements below:

“I think he is genuine and sincere in sharing pieces of himself with others.”

“I do hope he continues to stay the way he is and not give in to what people think he should do, be etc.”

  42. Miss Jupitero says:

Ms Kay, I sincerely hope I was not sounding petty in sounding off on his Twitter feed! I have no doubt that Tom is a wonderful person, and I appreciate his gracious manners in interviews, etc., and I would love to see more of it in this world. I am also an advocate of keeping things real– which doesn’t have to mean being coarse or rude to others. There are times when all of this seems less than real to me– but of course it is his twitter feed, and this maybe his genuine face that he is showing to the world. Also judging by the crazies that seem to gravitate toward him, who can blame him? I appreciate what you are saying.

You met him? Wheee! Where? Do share!

Happy new year to you, and thank you for sharing this.

    • Ms Kay says:

Happy New Year to you too 🙂

Well I was answering to all, not specifically to you, didn’t think it was petty. I understand that one is just not used to people being so polite, well-spoken and happy all the time. That does not mean that one thinks Tom Hiddleston is not being genuine but it is just a very strange thing to see someone like him, because there are not many people out there say in your entourage or mine who are like this. And I think that a lot of people have the same problem. Again, it is totally understandable!

And then there are those who see him as a combination of Disney Prince speaking in Bard and they just can’t get enough and go wayyyy overboard…

Either way, he’s just who he is. At least from what he chooses to show us.

I met him twice, more like bumped into him at 2 London film awards, the BFI one but never got to approach him close let alone say hello. The second one was the BIFA awards and well we bumped into each other by accident, followed by the smile and “oops sorry!” words and before I processed it in my mind he disappeared.. Aaaarghhh 😀

  43. Miss Jupitero says:

@Ms Kay, Thank you again for your comments. I have to say though that I fundamentally disagree that sweet, gracious, and cheerful people are such a rarity and that encountering someone with Tom’s affect is strange to a world accustomed to cynicism. I know many who are extraordinarily kind and put the “mmmm” into mensch daily.

But then, I am Turkish. I come from a socially warm and gracious culture where complete strangers will open their doors and share their last piece of bread with you. Compassion is the norm here, not the exception. You should visit sometime!

What we don’t do is smile constantly. We tend to think this is a sign of superficiality, the “Miss America” smile. It’s the smile of the person who want your approval… but won’t be there when it really matters.

I am not saying that the Hiddles is like this btw; I’m just making an abstract point. Compassion involves having a true understanding of what it means to suffer, and it involves being real. Hiddleston probably is exactly what he appears to be, and if he is making careful decisions about what parts of himself he wants to share with the public nd protecting his vulnerable core, hey, I understand that, especially given how nuts some of his fandom is. It’s what I would do.

Anyway, just some thoughts, and thank you for yours.

Thank you all for being such a refreshing change from Tumblr (or ‘Tomblr). I go to the Tom Hiddleston tag at tumblr, but I feel uncomfortable there. So much so, I wonder if I acted as silly and overwrought as the fans over there do when I was in my late teens/early 20’s.
