I have literally no idea what Taylor Swift’s Met Gala look was all about, or what she was trying to achieve or whatever. Swifty wore one of her favorite designers, J. Mendel. And as such, she looked like she always looks, because she always wears J.Mendel on red carpets. We’ve seen versions of this dress on her a million times before. I guess that’s why Swifty tried to mess it up a bit with her hair and makeup? Her hair – which is naturally curly – looks crimped. And her makeup doesn’t work, I don’t think. I just think this whole look is a FAIL. Also: did she get her bolt-ons taken out?!!?
Amber Heard in Emilio Pucci – God, I just hate everything about this. Amber is actually a pretty woman with a great figure, and she can pull off lots of different kinds of looks. She could have done “punk” really well. But she chose this fussy, lace dress that covers her figure and blends in perfectly with the carpet. It’s terrible. It ages her. It’s just an ugly dress. And her hair is bad too.
Emilia Clarke in Ralph Lauren. She looks beautiful, she looks like a bombshell. I wish she would show up to, like, the Golden Globes like this. Because I think it’s wasted on the Met Gala. She doesn’t look right for the event at all. But does she get some points for looking pretty in general?

I agree. That shade of red just looks cheap and pedestrian of the lowest order to me – reminds me of Fredrick’s of Hollywood scratchy polyester lace panties.
I’m surprised at how fresh Taylor looks here – she looks completely different and her face looks less alien with her hair back like this. Maybe she got her teeth fixed too? Either way, she wins hands down in this lineup.

I like it, too! It’s obviously not pure punk, but it’s sort of a punked-up version of her usual princess look and I think that’s legit (since the theme was from punk to couture). I think she looks good, too, which excuses a lot in my book.
Glad I’m not the only one. I usually find everything she wears so tired and repetitive but I like the way she looks here.

I love Taylor but I too feel like we’ve seen this kind of dress on her a hundred times. Like that we can see her forehead for the first time in like three years.
Amber’s look is really disappointing because she’s one of those girls who could pull off edgy/punk with little effort, she looks great, but not as great as she could look.
Just like her boyfriends, she just couldn’t get the commitment level she wanted from that shit hair.

Taylor: It wasn’t perfect but, I thought she looked great in that makeup. Her dress seemed more on the “Couture” end of the theme but, at least her dress had some punk references with the netting, etc.

That is a very good look for her, she is still a young girl trying to have fun. I just dislike the hair event thought I love her curly hair.

I like swifty’s makeup and her hair is ok, but the dress looks like something she’d wear at any other carpet event. Although that’s probably best, I hated her “edgy” look in the ‘I knew you were trouble’ video.

I think Taylor looks fantastic! Her makeup looked great, but I wish she crimped her hair a bit more and had more pink in it. Like big poufy crimped hair – it would have looked very glamorous punk then.

I actually really like Taylor’s outfit. This is genuinely high fashion with some (admittedly still girly) punk influences. I like it. I like the hair. I think her hair and make up could have been edgier and she is a little safe but she pulled it off, unlike a lot of other people!
