Lindsay Lohan going ‘crazy’ without Adderall, but she can’t leave Betty Ford

On Sunday, we discussed the hilarious news (“hilarious” might be offensive to some of you but I think it’s completely appropriate) that the Betty Ford Clinic had taken away Lindsay Lohan’s Adderall. LL has been on Adderall for years – she claims she has ADHD, although it’s pretty well documented that she just goes doctor-shopping for prescriptions and Adderall is just her base-line addiction, and she piles on gallons of vodka and endless lines of cocaine in addition to Adderall. Well, LL’s Betty Ford stay is looking to be a bit more hardcore this time around, and the Cracken is not pleased about these turn of events at all. The Cracken wants OUT! Because she doesn’t realize that a mandatory 90-day court-ordered rehab sentence is actually not about her particular brand of crack shenanigans.

Lindsay Lohan is determined to leave The Betty Ford Center for greener pastures … but TMZ has learned prosecutors are having none of it.

TMZ broke the story … Betty Ford doctors have cut Lindsay off from her Adderall, which she has always said was a deal breaker. Sources connected to Lindsay tell us she’s going “crazy” and is desperate to move to another facility.

We’re told Lindsay has researched other facilities and found one on the west coast which she believes is suitable to complete her 90 days. She wants to move ASAP.

Lindsay is saying she believes Betty Ford is “old school” and is not sensitive to the problems of young people.

But law enforcement sources tell us … prosecutors are “unbending” — they will NOT approve any move. As one source put it, “She had 45 days to find a suitable place. She didn’t listen to her people and just did what she wanted so it’s her problem now.” The source adds, “Not gonna happen.”

[From TMZ]

Haha. This is just the feel-good story of the week. I’m sure things will change in a few days – Shawn Holley will get on it and suddenly Lindsay will be moved to some shenanigan-friendly Hawaiian rehab or something. But for now, just enjoy the fact that Lindsay is actually being punished to some degree. It’s amazing.

A few days ago, Radar had a story about Lindsay “threatening to quit” Betty Ford too, and they said that if Lindsay tries to leave Betty Ford whatsoever, she will be “hauled” in front of the judge and she’ll be going to jail. And now LL is freaked out that she’s going to gain weight now that she’s off Adderall too.

  1. Erinn says:

She’ll make a run for it within a week, then serve about 72 hours in jail with Adderall.

I don’t know why she didn’t just pick jail in the first place.

  2. shaniqua nunyadambidness says:

But, but…she’s the Cracken. And her way is always got, right?

  3. Ellie66 says:

    Bahahahaha it’s about time!

  4. anneesezz says:

A rehab that makes you quit drugs?? What?

  5. Tania says:

    Muahahahaha.
I think this is Schadenfreude non?

  6. Elizabeth says:

I think this is Karmic retribution for the Cracken! Granted it will only last a few days until her lawyer pull some strings and gets her moved to a more drug friendly (and smoking allowed) rehab but until that happens I’m going to enjoy this.

  7. dorothy says:

After reading Angie Jolie’s story, you realize just how pathetic and trivial Lindsay Lohan is.

  8. Quinn Parker says:

I wish they were old school…we could hope for a lobatomy.

  9. smee says:

This could be a HUGE turning point for LL. She’s withdrawing and detoxing right now which is super unpleasant, but in three months she could have all the monkeys off her back and leave her chins behind her.

I wish her luck and a new story line bc this one has gotten old. Maybe she’ll EGOT!

    • lovegossip says:

LOL Good one. Cuz after 3 months, she will totally stay drug and alcohol free. 😀

  10. Mia 4S says:

Doesn’t understand young people? No dear it’s just that since you now look about 67 years old they are treating you accordingly.

  11. Dedrie says:

She wants to stay in luxury.. tweet her daily life for cash and publicity.. perhaps write a script and star in it.. heh.. I bet those daily life at Ford reports will grow strangely depressing, accusing and ranting-rage insane for a while..

  12. grabbyhands says:

We should enjoy it while it lasts-I’m pretty sure she’ll be out doing whatever she wants by the end of the week, like usual. The prosecutors must be relishing this brief period of pretending to look tough on the issue.

  13. kc says:

She’s 26 not 12, she is beyond using the excuse “not sensitive to young people”.

  14. brin says:

Bwahahaha…we had to have a Crackie story to balance out the Angelina/Denise stories.
Maybe Crackie can do a PSA on addiction if she ever gets out of rehab.

  15. teehee says:

I’d like to believe anything about her in rehab, but, WHO would be giving the info. If they are anything like a normal rehab, patient privacy and confidentiality is required. Therefore…. no leaked info. But its also no stretch of the imagination that she’ll go thru the same chaos as anyone withdrawing from amphetamines.

    • j.eyre says:

      This was my take-away too.

    • jwoolman says:

She’s giving out the info herself. She’s allowed to use a phone and the Internet briefly each day. Her parents certainly will sell anything she says to tabloids.

    • bluhare says:

She’s probably so deluded she thinks people will feel sorry for her.

And if Shawn Holley gives a rat’s patootie about Lindsay she’ll do absolutely nothing.

      • Andrea says:

Was holley the one who asked for th rehab instead first? Then lohan fired her? Then she got rehab anyways with the other lawyer at the very last minute. Or am I remembering wrong?

      • bluhare says:

Andrea: No, I think you’ve got it right. Lindsay didn’t want rehab because she wasn’t guilty so she hired that other guy who was awful, so then she begged Shawn Holley to take her back.

  16. DanaG says:

I don’t see the prosecution just folding and letting her get away with another move. If she is abusing Adderall what place would allow her to take it when it’s been proven she is addicted to it and takes it to keep the weight off? The Prosecution just has to get the drs on the stand and show it is part of the problem. Shawn is good but the judge isn’t that stupid. If she does run and goes to jail would they give her something that the Dr’s at one of the worlds best rehab facilities have said she shouldn’t have? I will be surprised if she makes it another 48 hours she must be starting to really come down and since she can’t cope with anything she will probably plan the great escape straight to the first night club and dealer she can find.

    • Nudgie says:

The good thing DanaG is that once she crashes, she will be trading the firecrotch for Twinkies and Ho Hos (pun intended).

It would be the best thing for her but she’ll never understand or see it. She is the Cracken, and she will expire as such.

  17. Elizabeth says:

I’m sorry I know I’m wrong but I have NO sympathy for this girl. I know she had a bad family life & childhood but at some point you have to grow up & learn the difference between right & wrong. She’s had many trips to rehab, many people who have offered to help her turn her life around & she had shunned it all. At this point, she gets what she deserves. If this were any normal person off the street we’d have been in prison LONG ago. It’s only her fame, name & money that has gotten her this far.

    • Izzy says:

Elizabeth, you are not wrong at all. Most of us feel exactly the same way about The Cracken, and IMO, the sentiment (or lack thereof) is richly deserved.

      • MaxTremors says:

Personally, I am not a fan (by any definition) of Lindsey’s, but I don’t understand what she has done that is so wrong. She’s a flaky ‘actress’ with addiction issues, she’s not some violent criminal. Rehabs very rarely work, especially when they are forced. I’m not qualified to say whether or not she has ADHD, or needs medication to treat it, but the idea that people with addiction issues should forego medication and leave an illness untreated because the medication is psychoactive or can be potentially abused (which more often than not is the most effective medication for the issue) is ridiculous. I just don’t understand why people like to wallow in the misery of others (celebrity or not). I feel sorry for her, she clearly has some issues to work out, but forced rehab (that subscribes to an archaic treatment model that isn’t evidence based and has an abysmal success rate), or prison won’t help her. Drugs and addiction are social problems, and need to be decriminalized, Lindsey Lohan is a prime example of how the current drug policy isn’t working.

      • LAK says:

MaxTremors – This isn’t the first time DRs have said that she doesn’t have ADHD and therefore doesn’t need Adderall.

I remember when she was on court ordered lockdown for about 3weeks at Cedars Sinai, she was evaluated thoroughly and they said the same thing. She was just a garden variety addict.

As for patience or LL being treated in a sympathetic way…..How much time have you got to read a list that covers several years worth of softly, softly and sympathetic actions that have been taken to help LL.

At this point, we are beyond exhausted and just want the book thrown at her. It’s clearly the only thing that will make her take or receive the help she clearly needs.

      • bridget says:

She routinely drives drunk, putting others in danger. She steals, treats people like crap, and destroys other people’s property. She is a blight on society. And by the way, we’re not talking about a drug that might be abused, we’re talking about someone who has a well documented history of abusing said drug.

      • VioletCrumble says:

I agree, MaxTremors. Forcing an addict into rehab and expecting them to be clean on discharge is a pipe dream. Addiction is a social and medical problem and should be treated as such. Taking this hard line has not worked anywhere. It’s about time we looked at alternative ways of dealing with addictions, one being to have more available places in rehab centres, so that when the person feels he/she is ready to get clean, they can be swiftly accommodated. I know that in my state of Australia, addicts very often want to be admitted for treatment, but there are simply no vacancies, so the person may have to wait another 3-6 months before a place is available, by which time, they’ve lost the motivation, positivity and inclination to admit themselves. Jail is no alternative to drug rehabilitation, either. If US facilities are anything like ours, they are rife with drugs of every description. I do get the point of her drunk/drugged driving, though. This issue should be handled in the usual manner, separate from the addiction issue. Apart from this, she really is principally a danger and embarrassment to herself.

  18. Cool Phosphorescent Shimmer says:

Here’s what I hope: when she goes over the wall and they haul her back into court, the judge asks the doctors at Betty Ford to testify as to her medical need for Adderall. When the docs say she doesn’t need it and it has proven to have been abused by her, I want the judge to sentence her without Adderall (however you spell it) for the duration. I also hope that Adderall becomes one of the drugs she is forbidden from having in her system as part of her probation, as she has been shown to not require its use for medical purposes AND has been named as an abuser of unnecessary prescription medication.

That is my wish. I am as delusional as she is, I know. But there it is.

    • Erinn says:

      This would be amazing.

I know it’s probably never going to ever happen, but we can dream, right?

    • Inconceivable! says:

Yes!! How great would it be if she was drug tested for Addrerral through the duration of probation or whatever other court ordered punishments!!

  19. Katie Too says:

I thought stopping Adderall cold-turkey was dangerous. Don’t think she should get to stay on it, but can’t they wean her from it?

    • Petee says:

Yes they have different medication’s for different kind’s of substance abuse and no aderall is not dangerous to come off of.Unpleasent but not life threatening.

    • Apples says:

I’m confused. I thought Adderall wasn’t that big a deal? A friend of mine would take it before our exams or sitting down to write long papers. But her issue was remembering she was more productive with it and to take it. She had no withdrawal complaints and would go days without popping one at lunch.

      • bluhare says:

I’m not a pharmacist or doctor but I imagine there’s a huge difference between occasional and daily use.

      • Cool Phosphorescent Shimmer says:

Yeah, plus taking one pill by mouth is not the same as snorting up a bunch of crushed pills, which is how I imagine ol’ Lindz likes to approach the whole “taking of the meds” situation.

  20. Deirdre says:

    Dear god, this trainwreck.

Why is she so hell-bent against jail when she knows she’ll only be in there for a brief nano-second?

Is it fear or is it something to do with her passport and her ability to travel to other countries? I mean, would she have an ACTUAL criminal record? Or maybe she has one already? I dunno *shrugs*

  21. SamiHami says:

It’s so easy to bash her; God knows she’s totally earned it. But in the end I hope she is able to get herself straightened out and sober and have a private, quiet life out of the spotlight.

I know it’s far more likely that she’ll be found in an alley dead in a pool of her own vomit, but I hope that doesn’t happen. Something went very, very, very wrong in her life (Dina and Michael)and she clearly needs a LOT of help. I hope she gets it and can accept it.

    • Shelley says:

She doesn’t want a private, quiet life, and it’s years past holding anyone but herself responsible. So many people with far worse childhoods have done far better than she has – as just one example upon millions, please read “A Child Called It.” She’s far more likely to kill you or a loved one through her arrogant insistence on driving while drunk and drugging than she is to kill herself, deliberately or inadvertently.

    • VioletCrumble says:

SamiHami, thank you. Finally, a rational, compassionate human.

  22. Baskingshark says:

“Lindsay is saying she believes Betty Ford is “old school” and is not sensitive to the problems of young people.”__________Translation: BF will not enable Lohan to continue abusing drugs she does not actually need. I’m sure they are very sensitive to her problem, namely “being a crackwhore” – the issue is that they’re trying to solve it!

  23. mel says:

It really doesn’t sound like 90 days will be long enough…she probably should be in for like 6 to 9 months to truly get her clean…not that it will happen.

    • LAK says:

      You are so right.

Isn’t that roughly how long + 3mths RDJ needed to truly come off the addiction. mind you, he also had the reality of jail to deal with.

LL needs to be put away for that long.

  24. QueenFreddie says:

She’s probably worried if she gains weight her gentlemen friends won’t call her. I’m surprised shes made it this far. So many people rolled over and gave her what she wanted.

    • bluhare says:

Someone needs to tell Lindsay that weight gain is why God invented dieting and exercise.

  25. Sapphire says:

Welcome to withdrawal, crackie. Yes, there are different types of withdrawals that can be medically managed because they can have life threatening consequences-like the use of sub-oxone for opiate withdrawal. But anphetamine withdrawal, while not a picnic, doesn’t require sedation, tranqs or anything but gutting it out.

  26. EscapedConvent says:

Well, son of a %^&! This may be the first time in LL’s life that she has heard the word “NO.”

  27. Sam says:

The really hysterical part is that Betty Ford is permitting her to stay on ADHD meds. They just want to switch out the Adderall (which is more addictive) with a less habit-forming alternative. If she really has ADHD, wouldn’t she be thrilled to get access to to something that can treat her with less side effects? Just goes to prove that she’s not using it for medical purposes. But does anybody truly think that LL is capable of using any substance in a moderate and responsible way?

    • MaxTremors says:

You have no idea what you’re talking about. There is ONE medication approved for ADHD that is not an aMphetamine (Intuniv), and it is less than half as effective as the stimulant based medications with more side effects. It is used primarily when stimulants aren’t tolerated by the patient (side effects, allergies, etc). ADHD is not even what the medication was approved for, using it for ADHD is off label. If she has been abusing Adderal (which I have seen no proof of), there are stimulant medications that can’t be abused (such as Vyvanse, which is a pro-drug, and is only made active when swallowed). The point is, none of us are qualified to say whether or not she needs ADHD medication. The idea that people with addiction issues, or a history of addiction, shouldn’t receive adequate treatment for ailments they are diagnosed as having, is bullsh!t, especially considering that there are now medications that make abuse impossible. Not treating the issue can be far more detrimental to a person’s life than the side effects and abuse potential of drugs used to treat the issue.

  28. Celeste says:

I wonder if there’s any hope left for her. She’s determined to live the life she does; she sees nothing wrong with what she does or what she wants.
    Delusional.

  29. JL says:

The saddest part of that story to me is..

BF is not sensitive to YOUNG people.

Lindsey is not young, she in her late 20’s – she’s far from the teenager she thinks she is and god knows she looks like she’s 50!

    • Lauren Carter says:

In what world (besides Hollywood) is being in your late 20’s old? No, it’s not a young child but it ain’t old either. I think Lindsay’s problem is more that she looks old for her age–not that her age is old.

  30. Rux says:

Is it just me or at the end of the day/LL’s life, will her story make the best movie EVER! Gawd, this woman can hustle.

    • duncecap says:

lord knows her insanity can be amusing to read (from the safety of one’s own home). Not so amusing to the people she crashes into, throws drinks on, slaps, and manipulates.

But yeah, I won’t lie and say I wouldn’t pay admission to see that on screen.

  31. moon says:

Here’s the thing – why don’t we let her be a train wreck as she so desires? Why is the state paying for her rehabilitation? There are lots of other messed up youths out there who could do with the help, and she clearly doesn’t want help any way.

    • Apples says:

Yes, I wish jail time and court ordered rehab were charged to the criminal rather than paid for by us via our taxes. Maybe they could deduct on a earnings scale much like how they figure the amount of taxes you owe. I bet crime rates would nosedive.

      • Veruca says:

THey should do that will all criminals. It’s brilliant — which, of course, means it will never happen.

It’s far too logical to be implemented.

    • gg says:

Everybody who drives in New York and California would prefer this trainwreck to not be driving while drunk/high and she can’t do that. So just allowing her to implode is a public danger.

    • Kristin says:

Maybe I’m mistaken, but I was under the impression that she was liable for the cost of the rehab facility, not the state.

  32. the real queen says:

    Dumb junkie

  33. janie says:

Why is everyone trying to be ‘old school ‘ & holding her accountable for her actions? BooHoo Lindsay!!

  34. Elizabeth says:

I’m sure at some point she will just walk out. She already knows from past experience that if she goes to jail they won’t keep her for long. Due to overcrowding & the fact that she has to be kept isolated from the other prisoners they won’t have her in there more than 3-5 days. Then she’ll be released on “home confinement” once again & she can go back to her cracktastic ways………..

  35. Madriani's Girl says:

I hope she gains 50 pounds.

  36. Joanna says:

i would love to see how she looks off all drugs! she is gonna gain weight like a mofo. and i will lmao! sorry but the crackhead deserves what she gets. she doesn’t get that she’s her own biggest problem. instead she wants to blame everything on everybody else. so i will lmao if she packs on the weight!

  37. Mitch says:

It’s called “WITHDRAWL!!!!!” dumb caca brain

  38. raincoaster says:

OT: I understand that fillers make your lips thicker, but why is her mouth getting WIDER? Has she really had a facelift already?

  39. Sugar says:

“move that old school rehab I AM Lindsay Lohan!!!”

  40. ronnie says:

i really hope the crecken gets fat like mischa! I love when mean girls get fat its the ultimate!!!

  41. KatC says:

As someone who used adderall in the past (prescription) and then switched to another drug (strattera [sp?])for over a year, and is now back on the adderall–I think I can say with some authority that the withdraw symptoms are almost non-existent. Adderall is not chemically addictive. When people become addicted they are addicted to how it makes them feel. So while coming down from some drugs will result in chills, sweating, vomiting, dizziness etc., adderall is not one of them.

The biggest side effect to stopping the medication is drowsiness and a feeling of listlessness. When taken correctly the drug gives you a lift in mood and some increased energy, as well as the greater ability to focus for which it is prescribed. While it does keep you from feeling cravings for food, this gets weaker the longer you’re on it, hence people needing more of it, or higher doses.

Personally I don’t buy that she uses the drug for weight loss, at least not all the time. This might sound awful, but she’s not skinny enough for that. That’s not a dig at her weight, or that of anyone else, I just mean that this drug allows you to eat as little as you want. Given her current weight (below average but mostly healthy) and her weight in the past (slightly heavier) and that both are outside of the norm for a hollywood starlet, I think she’s probably just addicted to the feeling of control and confidence it gives you.

Hers is not a life that shows well to introspection.
