Not to mention the fact a lot of her friends dispute the fact that they ever had a “more than friends” relationship anyway. It was interesting watching the hearing, and hearing about the shenanigans Anna and HKS pulled to avoid the paternity suit. I mean, she didn’t even try to start claiming Stern was the dad until after the baby was born….before that, (and after Birkhead told her to go off of drugs, which made her mad) she foisted it off on the South Carolina guy, who incidentally had a vasectomy and is the same guy that owns the disputed house. Seriously, Anna and HKS were both really messed up and I hope he walks away with nothing, especially considering he’s an unemployed leech that solely lived off of Anna’s money for the last 5 years.

I believe there is no more “common law” marriage laws in California. I’m a lifetime resident, and that’s what I’ve been told for the last several years.

What I find fascinating is that people are so quick to label Howard K. Stern (not that he isn’t creepy)the bad guy, or Larry or Virgie or Ford Shelley, when in fact they are ALL fucked up. You really think anyone who had their shit together would form a serious relationship with Anna Nicole Smith? Birds of a feather flock together. ANS came from a fucked up dysfunctional family and she never resolved the emotional issues that resulted from that. She was looking for love in all the wrong places. -

As far as I know in California there isnt really such thing as commom law marriage any more. There were too many cases where people were getting screwed because of this so a few years ago they changed the law about it. Again, I am not sure, but that is what I have heard before.

Everyone is calling Howard a leech for living off of Anna. But he couldn’t have done it if she hadn’t let him. I think they had a relationship that worked for both of them so who are we to judge. And as far as being an enabler, you can’t get someone off drugs without their help. They have to want to quit. And it’s not easy to walk away from someone you love just because they have a disease, especially after they just lost the most important person in their life.

This comment is for anna’s mom. You should try to get Anna’s fans to get a petitiion to move her and her son back to the states so we can pay our respect to her. Her fans are in the United States just like Marilyn Monroe why can’t Anna be here for all of us. She belongs here not there. if she is left there she will soon bwe forgotten. I pray for her baby to be with her real father soon and not that killer kook Howard k Stern. It is so ovious he killed her, he had his shit together but it is so plain to see. He knew the laws. He was just jealous of Anna and when she didn’t love him the way he wanted her to he killed her son then he killed her. I think he’s evil and belongs in jail. Anna deserves justice for her son and herself. and for that video against her mom you can tell Howard had her all upset before she went on film not to mention you can tell she’s high thanks to howard. I too am a nativeTexan and I hope some redneck catches Howard and gives him what he deserves. Anna We love you and hope you finally have peace. Good luck Virgie we will stand behind you just get that petition going and we will get the names you need from all her fans…..

ok, i’m no lawyer (don’t let my obsession with law & order fool ya), but i did live in so. cali for the first 21 years of my life, so i’m a tad familiar with the law. as far as i know (and forgive me if i’m wrong) it’s considered ‘common law marriage’ after a couple is living together for over 7 years. however, stern himself admits that he and ans were secretly dating for only 2 years, so although he’s lived with her for over 7 years, most of those years he was just her roommate, thus not part of a couple, thus not considered her common law husband.
