Depressing…interesting. I saw this this morning on GMA, I am a 41 year old widow. Depressing stuff happens every day, and I can still manage to make myself and other laugh. Widow humor rocks, I’ll read it…

    • Virgilia Coriolanus says:

God, I’m sorry Maureen. I can’t even imagine going through something like that. I’m lucky, as no one that I have ever really been close to has died yet. I know I’ll fall apart then.

      Sorry for your loss.

    • Green Girl says:

I am sorry for your loss, too, Maureen.

    • Vesta says:

Maureen, I also am sorry for your loss.

I haven’t been waiting for the new Bridget Jones so I hadn’t any expectations, but I am still surprised to hear about this kind of dramatic turn in the story.

Nevertheless it’s nice to see Mr. Firth, the only real eye candy man today…

  2. tifzlan says:

I feel like i’m the only one who truly liked the end of LOST. It was very problematic and i would’ve liked for more questions to be answered but i still thought it was fitting. Anyone with me? No? No? Okay.

    • AmyR says:

You’re not alone! I liked it too. Parts of the last season really pissed me off, but I thought the finale was good and provided some sort of closure, even without explanations.

    • Marty says:

I loved the final episode. It made me cry like a baby. I think the point was, we weren’t suppose to get all the answers and it truly didn’t bother me because the send off was so beautiful.

    • lucy2 says:

I liked it too – it wasn’t at all what I expected, but it didn’t bother me the way it did some. I’ve seen much better and much worse finales, but as a whole I loved the series, the characters, and the mysteries.

    • A Mascarada says:

You are not alone, tifzlan. I loved it. And to be honest, Breaking Bad’s final scene reminded me A LOT of it and made me cry again 😉

    • tifzlan says:

AmyR, Marty, lucy2 and A Mascarada – i am SO glad to know that i’m not the only Celebitch to like the LOST finale! I still have a lot of issues with the series, but LOST was the first tv show that i truly followed from start to finish and it will always have a special place in my heart because of that. I mean, the whole reason i’m a tv junkie now is because of LOST! And yes, the final scene of BrBa reminded me of Jack’s passing and i teared up too. RIP Jack Shephard ♥

    • Jade says:

I loved the finale of Lost — I bought the whole season, just so I could watch it again. I just watched it on vacation again over the summer. Still makes me cry.

  3. Christin says:

Well, that doesn’t give me any confidence that the latest installment wi be any good. Mark was my favorite character of that triangle.

    • Liv says:

Nooo, so disappointed! And I really hope the third film will be good, I doubt it though. The last one was okay, but I couldn’t stand this Rebecca-thing, so stupid. Plus Mark Darcy never dies. Never!

      • J.Mo says:

please tell me what the Rebecca thing is? I saw the movies but didn’t read any of the books.I think he was the best thing about the movie but not my kind of book anyway.

  4. BeckyR says:

Nothing can ever equal the first Bridget movie. It is still charming!

  5. Jaded says:

Well if this is true then Helen Fielding has reached an all-time low for trying to flog a dead horse. The first BJD book was funny, unique and a good beach read, and the movie was cute. The second book was pretty bad and the movie was atrocious. This latest, and I hope last, installment can only be the pinnacle of awfulness.

  6. blue marie says:

I don’t know if I’ll read it or not, I loved Mark Darcy and I definitely won’t see the movie. Colin Firth was one of the only reasons I sat through the second one.

  7. Claudia says:

Wont go near that book or the potential movie if it follows that storyline. The first two movies were all about them eventually getting together or breaking up and finally getting back together… it would have been nice to get a movie where they’re just… together.

I love Mark Darcy. I have no interest in a storyline about toy-boys.

    • Vesta says:

So there will be toy boys? Well that doesn’t sound good. It feels just meh if the story is filled with some cougar theme antics.

  8. jaye says:

I think that the Demi Lovato story is much ado about nothing. She congratulated him on his award and he responded to the compliment.

  9. lucy2 says:

Bridget Jones should have been a 1 hit wonder.

  10. MissMary says:

Ugh why do I have the feeling it’s a loophole for her to get Bridget w/Daniel and not have a guilty main character having an affair or whatever?

That said… sad panda. I loved Mark Darcy in the books (even the crappy second one).

  11. Tulip says:

That b*tch. If I wanted depressing, I would’ve just lived life. I don’t need this from a book.

Say goodbye to your profit Helen Fielding.

  12. Bird says:

Just…..no. You can’t kill Mark Darcy. He lives forever.

  13. Rhiley says:

Ugh, Mila Kunis is morphing into Demi Moore.

  14. Madison says:

I remember the first bridget jones book was based on her life in london so in this book she probably kills off mark darcy because her own marriage ended in divorce and she’s now a 50+ year old single mother. I now have no interest in reading this book.

  15. holly hobby says:

I hope the third movie never gets made. No Colin Firth, no ticket sales. Renee, don’t sign up for this movie. It’s not worth putting on weight for that horrible plot line.

  16. EscapedConvent says:

What a terrible, awful, foolish idea. Kill Mark Darcy? He’s the reason I watched the movies.

It would surprise me if anyone bothered to read this or see a movie.

  17. paola says:

I’ll tell you what Mrs. Helen Fielding: Mr Darcy CANNOT die. Now go and fix the book you bitch.

  18. lori says:

Not one of the topics here today….but does anyone know the answer to Lainey’s blind riddle today? Seth MacFarlan? James Franco?

  19. Lizzie says:

    http://www.today.com/books/darcys-fate-bridget-jones-sequel-devastates-fans-8C11294532

Helen saying how she told Colin that Darcy was going to die (on video clip and also in text)

Am watching the first BJD on UK Tv at the moment

(lori which blind riddledo you mean?)

  20. Dommy Dearest says:

Where did the Gwen S. story go? o_O

  21. Lucy Goosey says:

I can’t help but notice how every woman dating, living with, or married to Ashton Kutcher ends up looking horribly depressed.

  22. Lia says:

I’ve just been saved the $13 it would have cost to see the movie. I have no interest in seeing it now that Mark Darcy will be dying in it. Bridget Jones was interesting because of the way she was interesting to Darcy.

  23. lower-case deb says:

will only read it if it’s going to be some p.s.i love you stuff from darcy to bridget

  24. Nina W says:

    Jane Austen would not approve.

  25. jenny says:

Initially I just wanted to say my heart goes ot to Maureen-I lost my fiancee of 15 years, & truly laughter is the best medicine to get one through the tough times. It is not a very prevelant subject in popular culture. I will read the book bregrudingly-but choose to skip the film-no colin firth-no film for me.
