The Victoria’s Secret show was last night. And it was epic. I’m trying to figure out the theme, but… I can’t. The theme was “tall, leggy women in bizarre costumes that really aren’t all that sexy.” I’m sort of happy that they got Taylor Swift to perform – I think Justin Bieber was the musical act last year? And that was a disaster. Swifty kind of fits for Victoria’s Secret. The models seemed to like her a lot too – Swifty got a butt-pat from Karlie Kloss, seen here in her Gozer the Gozerian costume (right?!). I even liked Swifty’s costumes too – the silver dress was a little basic, but the deconstructed Union Jack dress was sort of cool (although it didn’t make much sense, but still… boobs).
I’m going to do another post of just models and costumes and such, but I wanted to include photos of one of Swifty’s big enemies these days, Cara Delevingne. Cara and Swifty have girl drama. After Harry Styles dumped Swifty, he started hanging out with Cara a lot. There are lots of rumors about Cara and Harry dating, although I think they’re probably more like “good friends who sometimes hook up.” Harry and Cara are tight. And you know that pisses off Swifty. CB was surprised that Cara was invited to walk the VS runway, but Cara is a big runway model these days, and she’s proof positive that “it’s all about the styling.” The makeup artists really did a decent job of toning down her Angry Baby vibe (but I still see it).
PS… Cara is wearing one of my favorite VS costumes, the “lingerie with the yellow, rubber hazardous material gloves” look.

At first when I heard that she’d be the one performing, I thought “yikes” cuz much as I love her, she doesn’t do sexy all that well on stage but she did the coy sexuality thing really well and look how tall she is! She could practically BE a VS model! She looked hawt and she owned it.

Does anyone else just see Cara’s Fuzzy Wuzzy eyebrows? Her appeal alludes me :-/ even in the sexy ‘dishwasher’ outfit. (Which is difficult because Latex gloves scream sex to me….)
I am actually an advocate of a heavier brow (I hate the overplucked thin line), but even I will agree that those eyebrows are too much. They completely overpower the rest of her face. Her eyebrows are absolutely ALL you see.
I am an advocate for thick brows too, unfortunately not everyone can pull it off. I, for example, look terrible with thick brows and even if I hate it, I must keep my brows very thin. i don’t know why, but thick brows totally change my traits for the worst. I really wish I could have heavy, shiny brows. Same goes for Cara Delevigne: the brows on her looks so bad, it’s almost a joke.
Plus, the eyebrows are way too dark for her hair, they don’t match at all, looks like Madonna in the ’80s, which is to say out of style. And her angry face doesn’t help much either.

Btw, Cara and Taylor are cool. I watched a Gif where they patted each others butt on the runway. There are also instagram photos of them hanging out together (laughing) backstage. So, there’s no boy drama between the two of them.
The bigger story is the photo of Taylor and Lorde having lunch together in NYC the other day.
Of course they were hanging out backstage. Taylor likes to hang out with all of Harry’s friends so that doesn’t surprise me.

I think Taylor can be pretty, but she is so awkward when she tries to be sexy. I need her to hide for a bit though, I’m over seeing her face everywhere. Team Cara.
I like that it was Taylor this year, too! It just feels so much less degrading/more empowering to women this way. They should always only have women performers at the VS show. In fact, they should also only have an all-female audience. As it is, I seriously dislike all-things VS, but I would definitely change my tune in this magical, girls-only world I just imagined!

Taylor looks fabulous! I love that she was the artist. I’ll be nursing a brand new baby when the show airs–I look forward to the show every year so I can’t wait! Is that weird for a woman to say? Cara looks so unfit for the show. I am not a fan of VS as a brand, still, it is undeniable that they go for a certain type of model: doll-like, smiley, soft, with a positive attitude and some curves (when not, they still manage to squeeze the breast up). Cara has nothing to do with this, she looks like a grumpy, malnourished adolescent with no appeal at all. I suspect they hired her just because she’s the IT girl of the year (which still appalls me, she’s ludicrous). The eyebrows must go!

God, that headliner picture on the home page for this story is just EVERYTHING 😀 I know that none of us can help the natural body types/height we were given, but when Swifty desperately attempts (so very, very hard) to do “sexy” (which is more often than not these days) it just reads as big awkward, lanky, featherless bird/praying mantis to me. And her facial expressions!! Ugh. It’s so uncomfortable to watch-ever see her do the jutting out hip thing??-that I can’t even sit through one of her live concert music videos on TCN. And I love Country music! Lol. Sorry girl…

I find VS to be overrated. The quality of their lingerie isn’t the best, the models are tall and leggy sure but they just don’t impress me that much. Just…meh.
As for Taylor Swift. She’s also overrated. I can’t understand how she got so many Grammys! Sure she has talent but more on a talent show level.

I agree Maria you’re not the only one that doubts Swifty”s actual “talent.” Jim Fusilli, the excellent music critic for the Wall Street Journal, said it best awhile ago when he remarked that pop “stars” like swifty are selling their celebrity, not their generic corporate music, the music is an afterthought – the Avett Brothers, the Alabama Shakes, Justin townes Earle can play rings around swifty but they’re not corporate marketable.
I tired of seeing this girl, the VS show is just marketing for her by other means, and her 8th grade music is beyond laughable.

Cara is kinda growing on me – not in an awe-inspiring ‘god I so want to be her’ way. She does have a few certain looks she pulls off well. That said I don’t think Victoria Secret is her bag. I remember being a teenager and aching to look like these glamourous amazons – don’t see that anymore.

I dislike Swift intensely, but looks-wise she fits right in here. BTW, why do the models get slammed for being too thin while Taylor, who is as thin as every model on the picture, gets positive comments for her appearance?
