Megan Fox never eats carbs: ‘I don’t have cheat days. I don’t eat anything fun.’

Megan Fox

Megan Fox is still everywhere promoting Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. This photo shows Megan grasping some roses from a fan. It reminds me of that 2009 moment where Megan snubbed a little boy who was trying to hand her a rose as she rushed by. I don’t think that incident was her fault, but the photo evidence fit her image at the time.

I can’t wait for TNMT to come out. Not because I want to watch it but because I’m getting a little burnt out on Megan already. She disappeared for a few years, and now she’s everywhere (including playing Pictionary with Jimmy Fallon last night). At least she stopped telling haters to “f— off.” Here are some cribbed together interviews. Megan reveals her strict, no-carb diet. Maybe that’s why she’s so punchy. If I gave up bread, desserts, and everything fun to eat, I’d tell everyone to f— off too. Megan also talks about accepting responsibility for her media image. She realizes she nearly crashed her own career a few years ago:

Why she did this movie: “I wanted to be a superhero for my children. They can’t really see Transformers, because it’s too sexualized for them to deal with their mother. That’s their mother bent over the car. We don’t need to go there — maybe ever.”

Her surprise 2nd pregnancy: “I got pregnant 10 days into shooting. Total surprise. I had months left to film this movie. I was exhausted. I was nauseous. I was doing lots of running and I get thrown around. All the tough stuff was left to the other characters.”

Her strict, no-carbs diet: “I cut out all bread and those sort of carbohydrates. No crackers, no pretzels, no chips. Nothing unhealthy. The worst thing I put in my body is coffee, once a day.”

She knows you think she’s dumb: “It’s hard to upset me. In terms of being intelligent, I think that’s a stigma that comes with being an actress. Some of the responsibility I carry on my own back, for the types of movies that I do. For agreeing to pose for GQ with cherries in my mouth. I’m hoping that getting older will work in my favor. It’s easier for me to take responsibility for it than to blame outside forces.”

She loves doing bad movies? “Life is too short for me to not have fun at work. I’m not on a campaign for an Oscar. It’s not something I’m chasing down or would be validated by. I like doing movies like this because I have fun promoting them and I have fun watching them. I love this one and I’d like to keep doing stuff like this.”

She doesn’t care about celebrity: “I don’t have an emotional tie to my career or my image or a celebrity. It’s a job I do to look after my family. I like it. I’m lucky that I’ve somehow developed the connections I’ve had.”

[From USA Today & E!]

Megan also appeared on The View. She talked about her strict diet again by saying, “I don’t have cheat days. I don’t eat anything fun.” She works out twice a week for two hours, and she keeps her figure by not eating, basically. Megan also says that Brian Austin Green wants a daughter, but “he doesn’t do any of the work,” so she’s not ready yet. She laments her “bad girl reputation” because she’s been in the same relationship for 10 years. Megan encouraged those rumors herself by pretending to break up with BAG every time she promoted a movie. Oh, and she also possibly faked bisexuality for attention. Here’s a clip from The View.

Here are photos of Megan in Oscar de la Renta at last night’s TMNT premiere.

I liked this interview with her. She came across as likable and very self-aware. Good job, Megs.

    • Brin says:

I like her too. Don’t care for BAG but I think she is cool.

      • Truthtful says:

add me to the “I like her too”, she seems so unpretentious, she knows exactly what is her weight in her industry and is totally OK with it , she is the anti-jessica Biel!

Plus I really like that she admits freely that she makes incredible sacrifices to have her body , it’s a really nice change from other actresses of models who supposedly eat ice cream and burgers and are “naturally like this”

I like her she is quite humble and would have imagined that about her!

    • don't kill me i'm french says:

      +1

    • MaiGirl says:

This interview is actually a lot less obnoxious than ones she has given in the past. I can follow her logic, and agree with some of what she is saying, and she doesn’t sound whiney. Even though I wish Hollywood beauty standards would let her eat some cookies on occasion, I appreciate that she isn’t lying about the maintenance it requires for her to be that thin. No “I eat McDonald’s every day!” or “I don’t have time for exercise. I just chase my kids around!” pants-on-fire lameness at least!

    • MCraw says:

Agreed. She doesn’t sound stupid and oblivious. She sounds very self aware and matter of fact. Not as annoying as usual. For once!

I’m glad she admits that she doesn’t eat anything fun. It’s a sad fact that if I want that bangin body, I’d have to sacrifice all enjoyment of food. Healthy substitutes are just an awful tease. Ok… Time to eat my grapefruit 😫

    • Mixtape says:

Me too. I’m not a big fan or anything, but it seems like a lot of her problems in Hollywood have resulted from her being too honest for her own good (like saying Michael Bay is a jerk). But I’m glad she’s honest about the fact that there’s no secret or magic behind maintaining her figure other than good old fashioned sacrifice.

    • I Choose Me says:

      +4

    • Lady Macbeth (Hiddles F.) says:

Yes, that’s refreshing from her. She came across as quite pretentious in all the previous interviews, years ago… Good for her!

    • Kate2 says:

Agreed. I like how she doesn’t pretend to be chasing an Oscar when the talent isn’t there, a la Lohan. She just do what she do. I believe her when she says it’s hard to upset her. She seems the type to let stuff roll.

    • Heyheyyyy says:

I really like the fact that she doesn’t pretend to sit around the house eating pizza, chips, and candy! She’s truthful about how much dedication it takes her. Well done!

  2. paola says:

If I had to not eat anything ‘fun’ for my entire life I’d be the grumpiest and crankiest motherf-er out there. I wouldn’t be happy even with Megan’s body, bank account and possessions.
Some days I would kill someone if I didn’t have something chocolate based to eat.
I tried to stick to a no carb diet once and it delayed my period of 40 days. It scared me so much that I’ll never try it again.

    • LadyMTL says:

Seriously! If I was craving fried chicken (like I am now) and someone handed me a bunch of carrots instead, I think I’d push them into traffic, lol.

Life is too short to deprive yourself of every possible delicious thing. Way too short. I’m not overweight by any means but I don’t maintain my weight by foregoing everything I love.

      • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

Totally agree with both of you. Moderation works for me, forbidding an entire food group does not. Of course, I’m not as skinny as she is by any means, but then, nobody’s been pushed into traffic, either. Lol

      • Snazzy says:

Lol, I totally agree!! It’s good to stay and shape and all, and I’m not saying to eat a burger every day, but come on! We have this life to live and that’s it, might as well enjoy it!

PS I think I would push someone into traffic if they did that to me too 😀

      • Irishae says:

Yep, I’ve always said life is too short to cut out entire food groups.

      • Nicolette says:

@paola, @LadyMTL, agree whole heartedly with you both. It’s all about moderation. Don’t eat the whole bag of chips, have a few or a small bag. Don’t eat the whole package of cookies, eat a few and so on. Why deprive yourself of all the delicious things you love? Life is to be enjoyed and savored and that includes all the great things to eat, and drink, with it.

      • MsMercury says:

I agree. I love food the thing is I don’t snack and I eat regular meals. So when sit down to eat I just eat whatever I want (usually small portions) but still if I want fried chicken and mac I do that. And I don’t feel guilty at all to be honest.

    • littlestar says:

Me too sister!!! A big part of enjoying life in my opinion, is to eat good delicious food! As long as you eat in moderation, work out, and my trick is to stop eating after 6-7PM at night to combat bloat.

      • paranormalgirl says:

Yeah, I can’t imagine leaving out large groups of food. Food is fun. Food should be explored. Indulge every once in awhile and you never feel deprived. I eat a well balanced diet, heavier on the veggies than the meat, run pretty much every day, and have a more than decent figure. But I eat fun things.

    • mom2two says:

Same here! I could not eat like Megan. I could not do strict paleo or any of those other carb free diets. I tried it and was afraid I’d wind up on CNN for doing something not good.

    • Lady Macbeth (Hiddles F.) says:

      @Paola

Same here. I would kill someone who tried to deprive me of carbs. NEVER!

    • Bob Loblaw says:

Deprivation diets are a giant load of crap. Cutting out carbs will only make you crave them. Eat a well balanced diet, indulge cravings within reason, keep active and you’ll be fine. Eating a healthy diet doesn’t have to be a chore, it’s idiots like this lady, who know nothing, who perpetuate the fraud of deprivation leading to reward. You want the banging body, work your ass off and keep your diet clean, it’s not rocket science and it’s not fad diet BS.

    • MW says:

I read elsewhere that she is doing this no-carb, nothing fun thing right now, because she is having trouble than last time getting the last of her baby weight off. This baby weight was much harder for her. I don’t know what she eats normally, but I think this strict diet is not what she does continuously. Regardless, I like to hear from her. I really wish her and her family well.

  3. fairyvexed says:

No carbs? Yeah, only Hiddles would inspire that. Spaghetti for lunch today, then, I see.

Every time I read about some horrible starlet diet I go and bake bread or something.

I really think Americans would stop being the Pillsbury Doughboys of the world if we could integrate useful exercise into our lives……walking to work or to the store. Every time I had to do a job somewhere in Europe, especially France or Russia, I walked a lot more, ate lots of wonderful food…..and lost tons of weight! Is there like a weight forcefield in America or something?

    • Christy says:

OMG – Pillsbury Doughboys of the world is hilarious and I totally agree with this post.

    • lem says:

Most of our cities just are not designed for walking to and from places. I drive 35 miles one-way to get to work each morning. I try to walk to the drugstore, salon, etc. when I need to go, but most of my day-to-day excursions are far enough away that driving is required. I think that is true for most people in the US. Trust me, if I could walk to work, the grocery, etc. I would love to add the extra exercise into my day.

      • Irishae says:

I hear you. I also have to commute and live in a large suburban area where everything is soo spread out that I pretty much have to drive everywhere. Luckily I have a powerhouse little dog so I go on long walks every evening to feel slightly less gross about it.

      • Amanda says:

We have the same problem here in Canada. In fact, a couple of European tourists recently complained about this.

    • TheOriginalKitten says:

I walk 6-7 miles every day (I walk to/from work and I walk on my lunch break) on top of running 5-8 miles a day and trust me when I tell you that walking does very little for you if you do it all the time. Diet, however, can make a huge difference. And when I say “diet” I mean essentially starving yourself.

So while it might annoy to hear Fox talking about what she doesn’t eat, she’s keeping it real here and I respect that.

      • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

I agree that walking might not seem to be doing anything for you after you get used to it, but it could be helping you more than you know. I used to walk 5 miles to work every day because I lived in Philly without a car, and when I moved and took the train, I gained about 8 pounds. So I think it was helping more than I knew?

      • sienna says:

I agree Kitten. We just got back from visiting family in the UK and I ALWAYS gain weight there, despite my runs and the 13 plus miles we walk a day… because I live on curries, baguettes and full fat yogurt.

My girlfriend described it well.. What you weight is determined by what you eat, how you look at that weight is determined by how you exercise.

I like that she keeps it real too, just like Posh, they don’t gloss over the sacrifice.

      • Jenna says:

I semi-disagree. I walk 5-6 miles a day as part of my commute and run or go for long bike rides 3-4 times a week. It does help with maintaining a healthy weight and I definitely have more muscular legs than I did when I was only walking a mile to get to the office, and I dropped a couple of pounds with no real effort when I first started the longer walking commute. It’s not going to get me starlet skinny, but it does mean I can eat a moderate amount of bread, pasta, etc., and maintain a healthy weight and some basic muscle tone in my lower body.

Ultimately you are right that diet is probably going to be the biggest factor in controlling weight, “you can’t outexercise a bad diet” and all that. If your goal is to look like Megan Fox, you need very good genes or a very strict diet (or both). But for me, exercise allows me to simply be health-conscious about my eating rather than neurotic.

      • fairyvexed says:

I just fought through nearly a decade of severe PTSD, and when I was ABLE to go for walks and plan meals, I started losing weight like you wouldn’t believe. Walking on sidewalks or wherever is so much more strenuous than a treadmill, it seems to me. Less cushioning. I cut out junk food and stuff in boxes except for….when I feel like it. Drinking lots more water, much less soda.

One thing that’s kind of fascinating is that when you can measure how many steps a day you take you really get a clear idea of how much you are moving——or not.

      • TheOriginalKitten says:

No doubt that walking every day will help you maintain your existing weight more so than being sedentary every day.
My point was that if you’ve been walking every day for 18 years like I have, it doesn’t help you lose weight.

That being said, if you’re overweight and you never walk and then suddenly start walking every day, you WILL lose weight. It just depends on your weight and the exercise routine that your body is used to.

I’m an exercise-aholic so at this point, my body is simply used to being very active. The easiest and really, the only way for me to lose weight is through calorie-restriction.

      • Jaded says:

Walking does do a lot for you – it won’t give you the perfect body but what it does do is lower blood pressure, prevent certain types of diabetes, help keep arthritic joints active which lowers pain and keeps them mobile, and improve all-over heart health and mood. Not everybody exercises to attain a perfect physique, they do it to maintain health. My 92 year old mother walks almost every day and I think that, coupled with a healthy diet, has kept her going.

      • Lady Macbeth (Hiddles F.) says:

        @Jaded

Yes, it does. You’re totally right.

Surely, if you need to achieve a weight like Fox’s, probably starving is the only option.
However, if you eat healthy and exercise regularly, even just walking, you can achieve a nice ‘shape’ anyway and maintain a healthy lifestyle. I lost 26 pounds with a diet and just walking in one year and a half, without taking the carbs off my diet either. I never stepped into a gym in the last 15 years.

      • Welldun says:

“I cut out all bread and those sort of carbohydrates” She’s doing it right! People are learning!

    • littlestar says:

Yep! When I got my first job out of university, luckily it was close enough to my apartment that I could walk to and from work – 40 minutes minimum of walking every day. I was so nice and thin then :). Now that I have to drive to work, I make up for that by running in the evenings.

    • Ginger says:

I live in the desert where its too hot to walk and everything is spaced so far apart in Vegas you are forced to drive. It can be a real challenge but I find ways to fit in exercise. I have to hike from our parking garage everyday to my building, I take the stairs, I ride my recumbent bike at home and watch tv on my tablet. I have a dog so I take her for walks early in the morning before it gets too hot. Its not hard to find the time. I just have to fight my natural laziness.

      • Mrs. Darcy says:

There’s always the mall! I used to laugh at mallwalkers but that is totally what I’d do if I lived in a hot climate, as my Mom does in FL. It’s either that or the gym, walking in the heat is no fun!

  4. Bubulle says:

Her hair looks gorgeous, she looks like her old self, hopefully, she will stop messing with her face for good.

  5. Tiffany27 says:

I read that people who are on low carb diets have bad breath. Don’t know if it’s true or not though.

    • sienna says:

That is if you are in Ketosis… the burning of ketones can give you bad breath. But it is a controversial way to shed weight, although you lose 5+ lbs a week.

    • lana86 says:

i think it may be the case if u eat a lot of meat and no vegetables and fibre. So, basically, not a healthy diet. If u keep “good” carbs (vegetables, some fruits, whole grain stuff) and reduce “bad” carbs (bakery, sugar, etc) the results may be only for the better, in general…

    • Welldun says:

Pretty sure it goes away as your body adjusts to being in ketosis, not an expert tho.

  6. aims says:

A person’s diet is obviously a personal choice. I think it’s a dangerous thing to start talking about weight, diet. There’s two extremes; one where you don’t eat anything “fun”, or going to the other extreme where you have to much “fun.” I think there needs to be balance.

  7. retromancer says:

Life is way too short for minimal exercise + ridiculous diets. I can’t even imagine not eating carbs: they’re my life, man. Best goddamned food group.

    • Bob Loblaw says:

There is no sense in eliminating an entire food group. Carbohydrates are essential for basic human nutrition and can be extremely important in maintaining a healthy weight.

  8. AG-UK says:

And she’s not even 30 she will be miserable by the time she is 40… I LOVE bread but I don’t eat it during the week and little amounts of rice if any and not much pasta. I know my body I’d blow up puff out but warm bread and butter yuuuuuuuuuuummmmmmmmmmmmmmeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

    • Bob Loblaw says:

Please, do your body a favor, learn about nutrition, you do not want to avoid all carbs.

  9. Mingy says:

I guess if you don’t really care for the pleasures of food, then kudos, but for a foodie like me, hell-fawking-no with that low-carb bs..pass the fries.

    • Bob Loblaw says:

It’s not only basic love of food, basic nutrition dictates the importance of complex carbohydrates.

  10. jenny12 says:

It’s scary that she’s coming across more likeable than Kristen Stewart.

  11. Bubulle says:

Sounds like your typical hollywood diet. You probably get used to it after a couple of years ask Victoria Beckham. It’s obviously not for us peasant.

  12. Eleonor says:

At least she is not lying with the “oooh I can eat all I want” and “fast metabolism” crap.

  13. Renee28 says:

So many people live in extremes. They’re either starving themselves or binging. People need to learn to eat a little bit of everything and not a lot of anything. It’s the easiest “diet.”

    • Bob Loblaw says:

I agree, and I’ve never had a weight problem. I don’t diet, I eat what I want and I don’t own a scale. I never do diets, I try to stay active and take the stairs over the elevator and I’m 47 now. I don’t have a weight problem, I’ve been the same size for about 30 years. I eat a little of everything and not to much of any one thing, except fresh fruit and veg, which I eat as much as I like of. Diets don’t work, weight obsession doesn’t work, but being relaxed seems to work for me. I don’t over eat. I stop when I’m full and I stop when I’ve finished my serving. If I’m hungry in half an hour, I eat again but I always give my tummy and my brain a chance to catch up before eating more. I also take home leftovers from eating out all the time because servings are too big, don’t eat it just because it’s on the plate.

  14. Observer says:

I heard that you can get a visible vein in the middle of your forhead if you don’t eat enough carbs, is it really true?

    • don't kill me i'm french says:

      It’s because of botox

    • Bob Loblaw says:

No Botox and plenty of carbs and I have a huge blue vein, very visible in my freakishly white forehead skin, it’s genetics not diet.

  15. sonalaceae (Nighty) says:

Such a sad life… always thinking about diet, diet, diet… One can still eat healthy and eat an ice-cream or a cookie from time to time, but never, ever, ever?? Sad existence

*shakes head and leaves, thinking to myself .. going to attack the tiramisu ice cream … *

  16. Reece says:

Life is too short to live without cake. IMHO
    But whatever works for her.

  17. Flounder says:

She seems so fake to me :/

  18. B says:

She looks gorgeous. I’m surprised she doesn’t look like that much of an alien anymore.

  19. Lydia says:

Like an Oscar was ever a possibility for her. She knows that it never was, so she’s taking the “I want to have fun” route. All other actresses are trying to improve and work toward a nomination at least. Megan just wants the paycheck. Not that I blame her, because she’s married to another non-talent. Clearly she is the breadwinner.

    • Eleonor says:

I’d rather get this attitude than the usual complain “oooh they labeled me as the hot chick ” à la Jessica Alba.
At least she knows what she can do: she knows she is not Meryl Streep, but if she improves and works enough maybe one day she could skip to other kind of movies rom-com, or supporting actress roles.

  20. marta says:

I think people doesn’t understand that there is a difference between unhealthy foods and what is dietetic .I wouldn’t consider pasta unhealthy at all you just have to know when and how to eat it.People that lives on a permanent protein diet are angry and bitter most of the times and doesn’t have a good breath honestly…and please life is one.Well…that said , she does look gorgeous but everytime I see her my sight goes to her thumbs :they are horrible!just to find a flaw you know…(jealousya)

  21. Jayna says:

She is so striking, and I always love her in live interviews. She’s comes off better than in print interviews.

  22. Val says:

She’s so stunning! I’m pleasantly surprised by how okay she seems. You did misquote her though . she says “He doesn’t have to do any of the work” – referring to being pregnant, not housework.

  23. eliza says:

Girlfriend needs to have a seat next to Jerry Hall and let Jerry tell her how to enjoy life without so many darn restrictions.

I am not against healthy eating but come on, a treat never hurts anyone.

I still like Fox though. Her interview was nice.

  24. Isabelle says:

Think she is more honest about her diet. Think a lot of women in Hollywood lie about how much they eat & what they eat. They say they eat some carbs and have cheat days but doubt they do.

  25. Lady says:

That’s the kind of dedication it takes to having a body like hers. I’m 125lbs at 5’6 and that’s because I eat my carbs and have cheat days. I couldnt imagine cutting that out for good but maybe if I had her salary and her gorgeous face. Haha.

  26. gracielove says:

Meagan is in an abusive relationship. And didn’t you guys catch this line: “Megan also says that Brian Austin Green wants a daughter, but “he doesn’t do any of the work,” so she’s not ready yet.”

  27. Lindy says:

I have to give it to her here–she seems much more down to earth than ever before. And yeah, I will add to the chorus of those who are glad she’s being honest about what it takes to look that good.

  28. Abbott says:

“The worst thing I put in my body is coffee, once a day.”
I’d… Ummm… Disagree. Still like her though. She knows her place in the industry.

  29. Rachel says:

I’ve never liked her even the tiniest bit until now, but this is a surprisingly good interview – not just by her standards, but in general. I think that what she said about doing movies for fun is smart and honest. Not everything has to be serious and, honestly, movies are about entertaining the masses; they aren’t about actors torturing themselves to the extreme for a role. I mean, we may commend the effort, but it usually doesn’t add that much to the movie. I definitely don’t stay up at night and marvel at how Anne Hathaway starved herself thin and then got a haircut on camera. Even watching the movie, it barely registered on my radar as being remarkable. Anyway, I also like that Megan Fox is honest about her diet. She’s not trying to force everyone to believe that she can be that thin AND eat a million cupcakes. So, bravo. If her acting is actually decent in TMNT, I may actually begin liking her. That’ll be strange.

  30. Mitch Buchanan Rocks! says:

No booze can help keep weight off but not many wanting to give up this habit.

  31. HoustonGrl says:

No carbs, 2 days of exercise annnnnnd a sh*tload of Botox.

  32. Mrs. Darcy says:

While it’s refreshing for an actress to be honest about the deprivation they submit themselves to, it is also a bit sad. As a new Mom she should be more worried about presenting a healthy role model for her kids. I had/have food issues in large part because of my Mom’s relationship to food and these kids growing up with a Mommy who only eats salad will quickly pick up on issues of self image and so on. Not saying she should let herself go, but she probably has little energy for exercise if she’s permanently low carb (I did low carb for six months, I know you can function just fine, but from the look of her body she’s probably consuming very few calories for energy).

  33. Josefa says:

Thinking that I’d have to live on celery to have a body like that is the reason I most love my body. I’m not as hot as Megan but I’m fit and I’ve got a fantastic ass, all while eating carbs daily and enjoying some ice cream and chocolate every once in a while.

I love that she knows her place in the industry. Megan’s been very likeable (for the most part) lately. Motherhood made her grow a lot. What I most like is she’s never been pretentious about her mothering skills, claiming she’s a super mom and sh*t. I HATE when celebs act like that.

  34. Nikki L. says:

News flash: you need carbs, fat and cholesterol to live. Carbs help you metabolize protein. What matters isn’t these individual things themselves, but in what form you eat them. The US has a weight problem not because of any one element, but because of the pre-packaged society we live in.

Eat real butter, cheese, whole grain breads, fruits, whole milk, and stuff made with pronouncable ingredients. Cut manufactured food mostly out of your diet and you’ll see results. Filtered milk and filtered “fat free” foods aren’t good for you. Fat and carbs aren’t the enemy.

I’m really tired of this pseudo-science diet crap. Just eat like a normal person.

  35. Boxy Lady says:

I cannot help thinking that her many years studying ballet may be what has influenced her diet now. She still has the ramrod straight posture of a ballerina.

  36. Kimberly says:

    I liked her interview.
And I appreciate the face that she’s honest about her diet…… compared to some of those silly models and even actresses like cough* Biel *cough, who think people are stupid enough to believe that they eat lots of ice cream, a box of donuts and 6 slices of pizza.

  37. Ritu says:

    Nowadays she seems nice.
She doesn’t have the Marilyn tattoo anymore, great!

  38. Annie says:
