Cara Delevingne isn’t just an ‘It Girl’ model now, she’s also a lead film actress

Here are some photos of Cara Delevingne, out and about and on the runway over the past week. It’s London Fashion Week, so there are a million photos of Cara. Cara’s street style, Cara’s party style, Cara looking like Angry Baby on the runway. I haven’t seen an “It Girl” being pushed this hard since Agyness Deyn. And much like Agyness Deyn, Cara is being offered the world, including an acting career. Cara has already booked smaller roles in a few movies, but now she’s auditioning for lead roles. And she got one!

Cara Delevingne is in talks to co-star with Nat Wolff in the adaptation of John Green’s “Paper Towns” for Fox 2000. Jake Schreier will direct.

The story follows young neighbors who share the jarring experience of finding the body of a man who committed suicide. The two leads grow apart — until the night he finds her at his bedroom window, dressed like a ninja. She enlists him in a campaign to get revenge on the people who’ve hurt her. The next day, she vanishes and he is left to ponder the ramifications of the evening. Then he begins getting clues and follows them in an attempt to find her.

Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey are producing. Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber (who also adapted Green’s “The Fault in Our Stars”) are writing the script. After the success of “Stars,” which grossed $280 million worldwide, Fox is hopeful fans will have an appetite for another complex YA love story.

Fox 2000 seems to want to stay in business with the model-turned-actress, as she is also in talks to star in its Beach Boys inspired “All Summer Long.” She most recently wrapped production on the Warner Bros. film “Pan.”

[From Variety]

John Green (the author of Paper Towns) has a Twitter and he tweeted out “Cara Delevigne’s audition blew everyone away (including me!) and she understands Margo profoundly. I am so excited!” And he confirmed that she had gotten the role as well. So, we’re now living in a world where Angry Baby Delevingne is not just “the biggest English model since Kate Moss,” but a proper actress as well. How does that make you feel? Eh. I’m still having issues with seeing Cara as some major model, so imagine how I’ll feel about seeing her smirk-face in movies.

I’m sorry, I just do not ‘get’ this girl at all…I can’t see where she’s a great beauty or maybe that’s not what makes a great model?

    • Tanguerita says:

her face wouldn’t be that bad if not for the nose – it’s so piggy. She reminds me of Christina Ricci’s character in “Penelope”.

    • Poe says:

+1.5 million from me. I don’t get it either. Aside from her established family, nothing is interesting to me thus far. Maybe, I’ll understand if I see her in a lead.

    • Mel says:

You’re right, beauty is not what makes a great model. For a model, it is essential to have “striking” feaures, not necessarily beautiful.

Having said that, I still don’t get her. 😛

  2. krastins says:

she officially has more gigs than Lilo does hahahahahhahahahaha xD

  3. Luciana says:

    God help us all!

“Cara looking like Angry Baby on the runway”
OMG that’s it. I didn’t even read the rest of the post. Dying…..*dead*

  5. taxi says:

    Eyebrows. That’s all.

  6. don't kill me i'm french says:

To have some parents in fashion world helps in a model career! And to have your best friend as a Harvey Weinstein’s fav boy beard helps in an actress’career also!
To have the best drug helps also!

  7. dante says:

Funny this is I don’t even find her remotely attractive. Not even in the slightest. I don’t know if I’ve ever seen a top flight fashion model that’s done less for me than this girl.

Is this supposed to be passed off as great beauty nowadays?

  8. Mitch Buchanan Rocks! says:

She looks very much like the Hemmingway sisters.

  9. Dani says:

Nothing about John Green surprises me anymore after the failed casting of TFIOS, so this is unsurprising.

  10. GlimmerBunny says:

Margo in the book (which I loved) is described as dark-haired, curvy and jewish – so they cast a blonde, British, stick-thin supermodel to play her? Sometimes I don’t understand Hollywood casting directors, can’t they read??!!

That said, I like Cara as a model and maybe she’ll surprise me in the role. Which I doubt. And if she HAD to be in a John Green adaption, couldn’t she have been Alaska Young from “Looking for Alaska” (which is also being made into a movie) who’s character description resembles her much more?

    • Eli says:

I was about to say the same thing. When I first read this, I was like “oh yeah, I could see her in that part” but then I realized I was thinking about Alaska from Looking for Alaska and not Paper Towns.

    • Size Does Matter says:

Physically Cara looks more like the description of Alaska, but I could see her having the attitude (minus the intellect) of Margo.

    • Bee says:

I didn’t know that blonde models couldn’t be Jewish. I guess Bar Refaeli, Erin Heatherton, and Esti Ginzburg don’t count then. And it annoys me that people never point out when attractive Jews (Logan Lerman, Natalie Portman, Mila Kunis, etc.) play non-Jews.

      • GlimmerBunny says:

I din’t mean it in that way at all, Bee! I’m well aware that some of the most beautiful current models/actresses (Natalie Portman, Mila Kunis, Scarlett Johansson, Dianna Agron, Melanie Laurent and many, many more) working today are Jewish, but Cara is not. If they had for example cast Dianna (preferably with dark hair) as Margo I wouldn’t have complained at all. Or even a non-jewish ACTRESS, not a model 😛

  11. AG-UK says:

Next it will be Sookie I mean Suki… all these rich or well off kids give me a break. I don’t think I am forking out my £10-13 for any of that.

    • Charlie says:

I was just thinkign about all these young celebrities hitting it big at the moment, and almost all of them come from very well off families. I can’t think of one who comes from a poor background.

      • Poe says:

I was literally just thinking about them, and pretty much none of them have talent…from what I have seen.

  12. Nicole says:

She’s good looking with model proportions and she’s got a more distinct look than a lot of models. I get the feeling that she has a cool in person vibe too. People seem to be drawn to her. She shouldn’t stand next to Kate Moss though. That’s not working out for her.

  13. bns says:

She has grown on me a lot lately.

  14. Happy21 says:

Like bns above, she has grown on me a lot lately too. At first I didn’t find her remotely attractive, now I do.

She looks like the Hemingway sisters and I also see Susan Dey in her (mostly from the nose down).

  15. mar says:

none of the supermodels are that beautiful to me. They are just unique and chameleons.

  16. Talie says:

She supposedly does have legit acting talent. It’s been said she even came close to scoring the lead in Alice in Wonderland back in the day. This is a HUGE deal for her though — it’s a guaranteed #1 movie.

    • Pluto says:

I second that. Cara is getting good reviews at TIFF. She is supposedly carefree and charming in person. I’d watch out for her.

    • Charlie says:

But in that Amanda Knx movie she plays a carefree party girl. She is a carefree party girl. She’s basically playing herself.

      • Kate says:

She was good in Anna Karenina too. Didn’t have much to do in it, but she definitely has that magnetic quality. When she was on screen you weren’t looking at anyone else.

  17. R says:

I think she’s gorgeous. You guys are so critical #celebitches

    • Ash says:

Everyone has different taste. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

There are plenty of celebrities that I don’t find remotely attractive. I don’t have an opinion either way, when it comes to looks, for Cara. Her eyebrows distract me too much.

      • Tessy says:

I find her wonky eyes more of a distraction than her brows. She always looks higher than a kite to me. I always wonder how people like her and LILO function day to day.

      • Ash says:

I agree on the wonky eyes. Wasn’t it rumored that she was pretty heavy into come or something at one time, my e, I’m thinking of someone else.

      • Ash says:

        *coke not come.

  18. kri says:

I will try not to be “so critical”. I can’t stand anything about her. There.

  19. rudy says:

I like Cara. Think she’s hot and refreshingly candid. Love her clothing choices particularly the shoes. She’s out about her preferences. Have not seen her act at all but totally can see her being excellent. We know the camera loves her. Go Cara!!

  20. Isadora says:

I’m not commenting on her looks as this is – obviously – a matter of taste, but she’s doing the right thing with her career. She’s still so young but these days the newest “it girl” is incredibly hyped and then fades into oblivion. The fashion business is hardly sustainable so she’d better rake in the cash while she can. And trying to get into acting (if possible) is always first choice for models, isn’t it?

Speaking of faded model hypes – what did became of Agyness Deyn?

    • Hally says:

I actually like Cara and could never stand Agyness (and her ridiculous name). I’m so glad she faded away, but unfortunately I think she married into scientology.

    • Parker says:

She’s from a well-to-do family, she really doesn’t have to worry about it. I won’t lie if I were in the same position, I would take full advantage. I would love the ability to see so many different countries.
