Earlier this week, I read a curious story at The Daily Mail. Sources alleged that Cressida Bonas had come back to London early – she had been attending her sister’s wedding in Italy – just so she could attend the closing ceremony for the Invictus Games. Cressida is famously close to her siblings, and I thought it was weird that she would leave a family celebration to attend an event closely associated with her ex-boyfriend, Prince Harry. While I don’t think Harry and Cressida’s break up was as bad as the “sources” would have had us believe, I do think that their split was a relatively clean break, that Harry was “over it” and Cressida was launching herself as a celebrity/actress/model with her own profile. But now it looks like Cressida and Harry are still on good terms. Good enough terms that they’re probably going out again:
Prince Harry may have rekindled his romance with Cressida Bonas, according to reports. The Royal was spotted taking the actress on a covert date to the cinema this week, it was claimed. Harry has reportedly been keen to reunite with the former dance student since she ended their two-year relationship in April.
Cressida, 25, was seen last Sunday looking relaxed and happy while attending the closing ceremony of the Invictus Games, which had been organised by the Prince. The Sun reported she then spent Harry’s 30th birthday with him at Kensington Palace before meeting him at the Odeon on High Street Kensington, west London, the following day.
The pair went to see the new Hollywood comedy Sex Tape, starring Cameron Diaz and Jason Segel and tried to “blend in”, a fellow cinema-goer allegedly claimed.
Harry was driven away by his bodyguards while Cressida took a taxi in the direction of Kensington Palace, onlookers said.
A source told The Sun Harry is keen to win back his ex-girlfriend who split up with him partly because of the strain of being in the public eye. She was also said to have become “frustrated and unfulfilled” at her inability to pursue a career on the stage while dating the Prince. But a source told The Sun: “He realises she’s the one for him.”
Other sources say that Harry’s birthday party was held at Clarence House, not Kensington Palace, and that Ellie Goulding performed. But was Cressy there or what? And what happened to poor Scottish Camilla Thurlow? Hm. While I think Harry + Cressida = fun from a gossip standpoint, I really don’t think that they can make it work long-term. She’s going to be an actress-type and that’s a no-go in the royal family. She’s into playing games and Harry wants to settle down. Ugh. Maybe it’s just sex?

I just can’t believe he would go back to Cressida. She seems like such a drag. Especially compared to Chelsy Davy. The only emotion I can muster up when I see a picture of this girl is disappointment.

My mom would wear the pants. She is a youthful 88 years old. My mom would not wear the top though. She hates turtle necks.

I will never go without atleast 1 pair of high waisted bellbottoms. I rarely wear them, but the minute I have no bellbottoms is when there’s a 70’s themed party.
I do hate the mid waist belly shirts. That’s a fad that can never return.
I don’t get her style either. It seems like she has a formula, she must pick out one piece that is worn, or seems hobochic. I don’t get that ‘trying to dress down’ while still wearing expensive pieces. Is it trying to be middle class? or the starving artist? or people with money think it makes them look ‘cool?’ I’m not buying it. Doesn’t look natural, but instead is copying a click of girls in her set.
That picture of her eating would do enough to convince me not to go back in to this poor thing. No one wants to be papped while eating, its impossible to look good mid bite!

Using his sons money and his mistress takes the cake for me.
Especially when taking her as mistress would any marriage between her and his son illegal according to medieval canon law.
His sons also rebelled against him, supported by their mother Eleanor of Acquitaine (who was a badass woman who went with her first husband, the King of France, on the 2. crusade. Got tired of him because he was, in her words, “more monk than man”. She got a divorce, travelled back to her duchy eluding several kidnap attempts and married the 19 year old king of England. The marriage went sour though, with his mistresses and refusal to share power. He locked her up for 26 years.
They both had favorite children, his favorite was John, hers Richard the Lionhearted. Both turned out to spectacularly bad kings. Richard only stayed in England for 6 months total during his reign and John lost almost all their French possessions, bankrupted the country and made enemies of his nobility. Not fun to live through, but great fun for posterity to read about. 🙂
I would have assumed mistresses were legal at that point. Also, would the brothers wives have divorced? would that not be cutting off their financial security? That whole family sounds like a nightmare.
Slightly off topic… Did you know there’s a home that is in perfect condition of an upper middleclass… Um… 1800? era? My brain is not firing today. Anyways this man left it in hiw will that his home be kept as is and not altered so people x number of years down the road could see how they lived.

Speaking of girls of Ireland…..Dominic West married an Irish blue-blood with oodles of character and a thriling background (Catherine Fitzgerald, daughter of the Knight of Glin!!). I’m sure there was a younger daughter too…..would that she were young enough for Harry, she’d be a great companion.
I don’t know anything about Dominic West’s wife but I heard him giving an account of his wedding. He really wanted a big weeding will all the trappings – he later called it the Dominic West show. It was rather adorable hearing him talking it about. Apparently, she was that keen on a big wedding but indulged him.

I wish an English person would tell me what being first cousins to the Queen 11 times removed means. i’m an American, and my ancestor had a coat of arms that said he descended from Rhys Goch in Wales. The Queen and I share a grandfather (Augustine Warner) thru her mother’s line. I’m proud of the Rhys Goch; the Queen thing doesn’t really impress me – but do I get an audience with her? Do I get to marry up? Just kidding! I’m sure that there is a great host of descendants. English person, please!

I totally think she and Harry are dealing again. That being said, their fundamental problem has not changed. She wants a career in the arts/movies/dance/performing and he needs a wife who will dedicate herself to royal duties. This is basically a disaster unless Cressy wants Harry more than she wants a career in the arts.
I kind of want to tell Cressy to run the hell away instead of going back towards this mess. Plus, I want to see Hot Harry happy and I doubt this will work out well.

Agree on the gorgeousity. Disagree on the career. These rich aristocratic girls rarely want long-term careers. I think it’s more what she DOESN’T want; which is the royal life. It’s a freaking ball & chain and she’s a bit of a free spirit. I think her and PHG are well suited and she is his type of woman. Chely Davy has a siimilar vibe. But like Chelsy, she’s not suited to a life of public service.
I predict they will marry. She is Harry’s type, and I think that she realizes that her childhood dreams are just that, and I’m sure her entire family is telling her to go for it. The chance for all that royal privilege, and a cute and darling husband…it will happen, mark my words.

That last sentence of yours makes me think of CP Masako of Japan. Her story is really sad – she married for love, gave up her career and was suffocated by the Imperial court to such a degree that she became seriously ill, though she seems to be getting better now. I’m keeping my fingers crossed for her.
