Angelina Jolie in grey Atelier Versace for ‘Unbroken’ photocall: stunning?

FFN_SNAPPER_Jolie_UnbrokenPC_111714_51588051

Following Monday night’s wildly successful and emotional Sydney premiere of Unbroken, Angelina Jolie and her cast stepped out today for a photocall and press conference to support the film. Angelina’s look here is Versace. It was custom-made just for her, because let’s face it… Donatella Versace worships Angelina. And while there are a few notable exceptions, Angelina is one of the few women who can really work a Versace dress properly. Her shoes are Louboutins – she’s been doing the nude shoes for a while now and I wish she would stop.

There was a lot of conversation on yesterday’s post about Angelina’s “thinness.” It pisses me off. She’s a slender woman. She always has been. I remember in her early 20s when people talked about her super-thin arms. Again, she’s ALWAYS been this thin naturally and it’s a struggle for her to put on weight and keep it on. She lost weight – and talked about it openly – after her mom died in 2007, and then she put on weight (obviously) when through her pregnancy in 2008. And she went through a double mastectomy last year, plus major reconstructive surgery. I don’t know, you guys? Maybe lay off her weight? She looks the same to me… I would even argue that she looks better/healthier these days than she did last year. *polishes Brangeloonie Badge*

During today’s press conference, Angelina joked about the Australian crew and the Aussie accent – go here to see. And here’s Angelina talking about how much she loves Brad Pitt. Aw.

    I need that dress.

    • Mean Hannah says:

Me, too! I love grey and the draping, the cut, the fit, everything is perfect!

      • Hello Kitty says:

It’s such a classy dress which is strange because classy is not the first word I would use to describe Ver-sace (ever since Showgirls I deliberately pronounce it Ver-sace). But Atelier Versace is a different feel from the rest of the Versace collection.

      • PunkyMomma says:

It’s classy, gorgeous, flattering and needs to be in my closet, pronto. If anyone knows where to find the knock-off, please enlighten me – I’d appreciate it.

    • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

      Gorgeous.

    • Ag says:

that dress IS fantastic – i feel like it would be flattering on many different body types. like her shoes too.

      • TrixC says:

I remember Liz Hurley saying that she always wore Versace because they made dresses for “boys with boobs”. Actually Angelina has a similar figure.

    • AntiSocialButterfly says:

It is really pretty perfect on her, but the boob draping kind of gives a 1950s bullet bra shape to the tatas (most notable in pic w/ Miyavi)- if the draping could be softened, it would be perfectly perfect. I would feel weird in that kind of sharp construction.

That said, she looks incredibly happy in the pics, and what she said of the men in her family was such a loving and introspective gift to them . They will remember that always, I would wager.

Grey is a wonderful color on her, so much nicer for her fair-ish coloring than black.

    • DenisePayne says:

Gah she’s gorgeous…most of the time she doesn’t even try that hard…i think she downplays it as much as she can…but when she wants to, she just slays. No one gives better face.

Side note: anyone watch The Voice last night – I think Gwen Stefani is trying to morph into Angelina. Her makeup/eyes were done exactly like hers and she really kinda sorta looked like her (a compliment of course but look like yourself dude, lol)..even her hair was worn straight and sleek (no 40s styling) NO Red lip..But Nude and her mouth looked puffier like she had a lip job. It was freaky.

      • Ms. Thang says:

I saw a similar comment on another site. Kudos to Kaiser for recognizing true beauty. Married life agrees with both Angie and Brad because the both of them are just absolutely glowing. She looks freaking amazing.

    • j.eyre says:

      Heavens, so do I.

    • Reece says:

      Yes! Me too.

    • Tristan says:

She is so beautiful & the dress suits her to a T

    • BooBooLaRue says:

Me too, sadly I need to have serious foundations to be able to pull that stunner off.

    • littlestar says:

SAME! AJ is on a roll right now with her fashion game, I’m wondering if she’s hired a stylist? As for the nude shoes, I personally love nude shoes but I do agree that they do not go with this colour of dress. A black or jeweled toned shoe would have been much nicer, like a rich purple. Purple and grey together is a nice combination.

    • BoredAndExtremelyDangerous says:

I was there!!! I skived off work and met up with some friends for a late lunch on the harbour, not realising they’d all be there. She really gave our stunning Sydney Harbour a run for its money! She looked stunning, natural, comfortable and relaxed. There was a lot of laughter from Angelina and her cast, and the journalists, reporters and camera people were having a ball with her. I realise it’s part of the job to be friendly and professional when promoting your film, but there was just something really enchanting about her yesterday. I think her happiness shone through, and it seemed to rub off on anyone and everyone who was around her. I’m not even a celebrity fan, have never seen a movie of hers and know bugger-all about haute couture, or fashion, for that matter. She impressed me, and that’s saying something.

    • Katie says:

      Me too. I love it!

  2. Loopy says:

These types of dresses work well for her, gives her a wonderful shape.

  3. BendyWindy says:

I wouldn’t say she was always this thin. Around her Tomb Raider days she was a very athletic, healthy weight. She looked amazing, and she looks amazing now. Meh.

As for the dress, it’s really pretty, very flattering. I don’t always hate nude shoes, but IMO, nude shoes should only be worn when the dress is bold and needs to shine. She should have gone with a bolder shoe for this conservative dress. She looks good, but she could have looked ah-mazing with different shoes.

    • Ennie says:

Again, for Tomb Rider she had to get on special diets and do a lot of exercise just to get the shape, and then use extra padding. She said that as soon as she stopped with all that, the weight went down, it took too much of her time to even maintain it.

      • Betty says:

Well, outside of “Tomb Raider,” she also wasn’t this thin in “Gia,” “Foxfire” or “Hackers.” Has she always been thin? Yes. But certainly not as thin as she’s been for the past decade.

      • Luciana says:

+ Betty. Between her Gia days and now she has lost a lot of weight .

    • What? says:

Not 100% but, I think I read that she bulked up her muscles for that role as it was an action star video game role.
Also, personally, it was easier for me to have that extra fullness in my 20’s. But, with my (our) body type- once I cut out sugar and junk food combined with going for walks… Forget it, I can’t put weight on.

      • It’s an extra bonus feature on the dvd. She worked out for hours a day–she said she hadn’t been in shape AT ALL from before that movie. They had her on a special diet, and she was doing weight training, as well as learning how to fight (which is a whole ‘nother exercise in it of itself), and then she had weapons training. She also did yoga, and they had her on a special diet (I think high protein).

      • FLORC says:

        VC
Those diets actors tend to go on to put on muscle is intense. Lots of protein. Minimal carbs. And you can’t go more than a few hours without a protein shake or snack.

I don’t get this discussion either. She’s always been so thin and people always think she’s bigger than she was. People swore she was a c or d cup when she was a b. They swore she was much taller than she is.
She’s always been small and lately she’s faced some very traumatic issues that have impacted her physical health.

    • Santolina says:

Agree. The understated dress calls for some knockout shoes.

    • Lauren says:

Well, yeah, she might be this skinny ‘naturally’, but if you forget to eat you’re not being natural either. Fat people should restrain tehmselves from eating and very underweight people should force themselves to eat nutritious foods.
I think she’s too skinny and would be prettier and healthier looking with an extra 10 pounds, and this is coming from a very naturally slim woman.

About that interview: she speaks incoherently when asked questions she didn’t prepare the answer to.

      • catbe says:

that is interesting Lauren because I found her response odd maybe because of what you say. The answer could have just been *no* but she didnt want to say that so she went into this round about answer. The thing about the letters – she obviously likes that as a story to insert. Nothing wrong with that just an observation.

I do like the dress, not sure about the weight in relation to her…

      • DenisePayne says:

You’re speaking ‘incoherently,’ IMO right now..how on earth would you know she doesn’t eat nutritiously? This is a woman who was so concerned with her own health/longevity/mortality and being around for her children that she’s been researching and genetic testing and finding out her best options for staying here healthy and for her children as long as she can – and here you are a stranger making proclamations about how much nutrition she gets? So you think she’d go through all that she has and then eat head lettuce and coffee? You sound over the top with the assumptions and they’re tinged with bitter.

Also Jolie has been ranked as one of the best communicators and influential humanitarians in her field so I think she’s doing just fine on that front and won’t be returning her jean herscholt oscar (youngest winner) or dame commandership from the Queen (youngest ever and only american) anytime soon.

      • Azurea says:

Wow @ DenisePayne, did ya get up on the wrong side of the bed this morning?

      • FLORC says:

        azurea
Regardless of what side of the bed they got up on it shouldn’t be what you go to when responding to their comment.
Don’t attack the poster without touching anything in the post.

Denise if correct. Jolie has spoken very openly on a few occasions of how she eats and that staying around for her family is a high priority.
Also, when at dinners or eating at award shows it’s been supported she eats. As opposed to pushing food around her plate.

      • DenisePayne says:

Azurea, why would u say that? I’m not the one spitting at slender beautiful move stars I don’t know for not eating ‘nutritiously.’ Beautiful movie stars who take charge of their health in a major inspirational way I might add.

That criticism sounded bonkers to me and I very tactfully said so. Excuse me for wanting ish to make sense.

As someone else points out (thanks FLORC) why not address what I wrote – the topic, and not me personally, my bed and it’s two sides?

How can someone discuss ‘incoherency’ while pretending/fantasizing they’re in the Jolie Pitt kitchen watching Jolie eat 2 cheetos?

Like, I don’t know what George Clooney had for breakfast with his tequila this morning, so yah…I’m not gonna weigh in.

Yet you jump on MY head and say, ‘wow’ just for pointing out the obvious cray in someone else’s post? Yeah, ok hon.

      • lemon says:

I have a similar build as her. If I put ten pounds on it goes to my waist and I look pregnant. My arms and legs remain stick thin. It’s visceral fat which is the kind that is bad for your heart. I wonder if it is the same for her?

I’ve been told to gain weight, eat a sandwich, etc from busy bodies all of my life and I tell them they’re f’ing rude. Not everyone gets a nice butt and full hips if they gain weight.

      • FLORC says:

        Denise
We all have off days or say things we shouldn’t have. No need to continue the cycle by also attacking a poster. Even if they did it 1st. That doesn’t justify the same poor behavior in turn.

      • Lauren says:

        Denise,
I remember reading several interviews with Jolie where she claims she often ‘just forgets to eat’, so that’s where my comment came from.
I am not bitter at all, I actually like AJ very much as a public person, and I support her humanitary work. I think she is one of the few celebrities that does good with their fame.
However, it’s not because I like someone as a celeb, I cannot criticize them when there’s something I make notice of. Not everything is black and white.

    • doofus says:

the dress is flattering, but the color is too “meh” for me. and I HATE the nude shoes. not just on her, on anyone.

I do like her hair here…I think she looks much better with it down.

    • bns says:

She gained weight for her role in Tomb Raider, but she has definitely been on the super thin side for a few years now. It ages her a lot.

      • DenisePayne says:

If this is ‘age’ I’ll take it. Also since many women in her family didn’t get to see 60, I don’t think disses that some bitter betties throw at her about age bother her (afterall she knows she’s not yet 40) – I think she likes it. Most women think that’s the worst diss ever and they wait for an opportunity to call their imagined rivals old, ugly or both. Many females are just the worst and they have no idea with every arrow slung they’re scoring another point for the ugly faction in society that wishes to make all women obsolete by age 30. Give yourself a break. Yes I mean *yourself.*

      • Emma - the JP Lover says:

@BNS, who wrote: “She gained weight for her role in Tomb Raider, but she has definitely been on the super thin side for a few years now. It ages her a lot.”

The thing is that Angelina Jolie was on the “super thin side” before her role in Tomb Raider.

This is a photo of Angelina ‘the model’ when she was a teenager. There is absolutely no difference in her arms, hands, legs, and–because so many of you are fixated on them–her bosom then and how she looks today:

        http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-K2jK069CCsA/UYAy_XR00SI/AAAAAAABNw4/uwxVaoqlOxU/s1600/rs_634x1024-130430113425-634.JolieTeen9.mh.043013.jpg

      • claire says:

Yeah, but go look at pics of her in Girl Interrupted. Same thin gangly arms.

      • DenisePayne says:

Great point emma…here she is at 16 in an ‘interview’ as this youtuber bills it ( really it’s just a convo that the then photogs decided to make bank on years later..lol ) she looks exactly the same – her arms are just long and skinny: http://youtu.be/5Xbs60BMeRU

    • AntiSocialButterfly says:

And some fab, more showy earrings.

    • Louise177 says:

I always want to shake the person who says that Angelina was much heavier during Tomb Raider. Consider she’s been in movies for 20 years, you would think that people could come up with another example to prove she’s been much heavier until recently. The fact that people can only name one movie actually proves that Angelina has always been thin. Not to mention that it’s a known fact that she worked out to gain weight.

      • Alice says:

She was actually also heavier in MAMS and it suited her. The whole “naturally skinny” thing I get, but she’s also demonstrated that if she makes an effort to do so, she’s capable of adding a few pounds and muscle tone. Which is something she clearly chooses not to do.

I like the dress, but I don’t like it on her. Too much boob draping over her chest which is already a bit disproportionate to her size. It doesn’t balance out well with her legs. Same dress a bit longer with a side slit might have been more flattering. And different shoes….maybe silver patent?

      • Natasha says:

Alice I heard she wore padding during MAMS. Not sure if its true. I know she had to work hard to bulk up for Tomb Raider. Yeah, she could make an effort to add on weight, but it sounds like she’d have to sustain a lot of bulking up and training and she’d have to keep it up, it would probably be exhausting, and she probably doesn’t have to time to do all of that just to make some people happy.

I know one person who is skinny as a rake, in fact tinier than Angie. She is a vegetarian, maybe that has something to do with it. She doesn’t starve herself, and she eats regularly, but she is EXTREMELY thin. Some people just are.

      • Alice says:

I don’t know if she had padding or not, I do remember reading that the movie poster was actually a body double. But she definitely had a bit more meat and curves on her legs then than she does now.

My point about working out and putting on a few pounds wasn’t so much that she should do it to make other people happy. It was just pointing out that despite being naturally thin, she actually does have a choice in that. I also think that bulking up is hard, but maintaining it once you have probably isn’t the same amount of energy. Skarsgard is a good example of that, he probably worked his butt off to bulk up (he’s also naturally thin and very lanky), but once he got there, it was probably an hour a day in the gym to stay that way. And a lot of steak…

She’s also now edging towards the age where someone famously once said that you have to choose between your *ss and your face. Sure, fillers can take care of some of that, but it would be a shame if she started down that road earlier than she has to.

  4. elisabeth says:

she has such a tremendously beautiful face but her body is so skeletal.

    • Loopy says:

But the dress gives her a bit more curves. I used to have a friend who was a similar shape and she used to say she forgets to eat, I thought she was full of it but some people really do.

      • doofus says:

whenever I hear that “forget to eat” I roll my eyes and then I think, with THIS woman, I could totally believe it. (that is to say, I think some women who DO have eating disorders say that as an excuse, but not Jolie).

I mean, she’s constantly working…if not on a film, then on some humanitarian cause or…you know…with her SIX kids. so, if anyone “forgot” to eat, or didn’t have time to sit down for a full meal, it’d be her.

      • @doofus
My mom had to start making a conscious decision to start eating more. It was back when she was working the night shift at a nursing home–she would only eat one meal a day, and then go straight to sleep. She had to force herself to start eating breakfast especially, and lunch–instead of waiting to eat until she was starving.

      • Erinn says:

I have a friend who’s about 24. She has that long limbed, very thin look. She looks a bit healthier, because she’s younger. She’s very healthy, and eats completely normal amounts of food. Some people are legitimately just thin.

      • littlestar says:

Virgilia – how is your mom doing???

      • supposedtobeworking says:

@doofus – you can roll your eyes all you want, some people really just have no appetite. I am one of those. I am not super skinny, I fluctuate between a size 8 and 10 US (30-32). I very rarely feel hungry, and really only enjoy eating food that I really like. I would eat a good steak dinner or a full plate of gnocchi, but could also just grab a few carrots for supper and be satisfied. It ties into an autoimmune disorder that I have, and I don’t get the same hunger/satiation signals that my gets, so I ‘forget’, or have no compulsion to eat. Just because you don’t relate to it doesn’t mean you need to condescend it.

      • doofus says:

wow. did you read my whole comment? because your post would indicate differently.

I was referring SPECIFICALLY to women who have eating disorders and use that as an excuse. I then go on to say that for Jolie, and YES, for some other women, I believe it. I GET IT.

And I relate to it because I am also speaking from experience. I have a couple of friends who’s “natural” body type is curvy. not fat, but curvy. and when they got REALLY (unnaturally) skinny, they used the “oh, I forgot to eat” excuse to HIDE the eating disorder. they got to the point that their clothes were hanging off of them as if they were a child in dad’s undershirt. they stopped menstruating. Their hair lacked any luster. and all the while, it was “oh, I forgot to eat lunch”…and then they’d run 10 miles and “forget” to eat dinner.

I’m sorry you are suffering from a disorder, but I was not referring to people like you.

      • @littlestar
She’s good–she finished her chemo in late August, and now she’s back in Chicago for her radiation treatments. That’s the hardest part–she’s been gone since September. She spent two weeks home, and she cooked the entire time (because my dad was buying crap from the deli section). But she’s good. She’s mourning the loss of her eyebrows, and her nails are black and falling off. My aunt’s going to stay with her, and we’re going to go see her next week for Thanksgiving.

      • DiamondGirl says:

How do you forget to eat when you have six children? Wouldn’t you have mealtime with them and notice that it’s, you know, time to eat?

      • @DiamondGirl
IF Angelina does skip meals, I’d say it’s because she’s busy. Not because she forgot. And her kids are old enough so that they don’t need to come to her, or any other adult for a meal or a snack, during the day. My mom wasn’t half as busy as Angelina (and she had five kids; four still living in the house), and she still routinely only ate one meal (generally dinner since she cooks it), when she couldn’t ignore that she was starving. It’s very easy to get caught up in something, and not stop to eat. I do it all the time.

    • DenisePayne says:

I don’t think she looks skeletal at all. Having seen her in person at tor film fest, I can tell you she was no less thin than most other actresses. Her arms are slender but if you look at her in contrast to other actresses standing next to her – it’s no big difference. The difference with Angelina is that she still battles a lot of bitter ladies on account of the other so they’re just lying in wait to attack her and not the other actors.

      • Emma - the JP Lover says:

Thank you! I totally agree. I really don’t see where this ‘skeletal’ crap comes from.

      • LadyMTL says:

ITA, I don’t find her skeletal in the least. I have super thin arms and wrists (I can encircle my wrists with my thumb and pinkie and have room to spare) but I’m not skeletal either; my weight is perfectly healthy.

Judging Angelina or any other woman’s weight based on something as random as her arms is a bit ridiculous.

      • littlestar says:

Some people also have a more prominent bone structure, and AJ is one of them. Even at my thinnest, my bones didn’t “show”, if that makes any sense.

      • FLORC says:

At my thinnest and most unhealthy my bones in my shoulders and arms didn’t show like this.
Now i’m healthy with strong mucle tone and my bones show. During a workout I look skin, bones, and muscle. It really breaks down to how the person is built. Jolie looks healthy and slender.

You’re right littlestar. It really is in how we’re built. Everyone is judging on their own physical perceptions, but there’s more than a few ways a body holds fat around a skeletal structure.

      • TC says:

Angie looks quite normal to me when it comes to her weight. There is nothing that looks “off.” Her skin glows, her eyes are bright and she has a shiny, healthy-looking head of hair. There is nothing that says “illness” in my opinion.

They look like they’re really enjoying themselves at the photo call and Miyavi is rocking the heck out of his outfit. 🙂

    • Dallas says:

Jolie does have a beautiful face, but it too is becoming more slender and gaunt looking. One of the first signs of not being unhealthy, is found in your hair and fingernails. And I have to say, I have never seen her hair to appear so thin! It does not look healthy at all. What has happened?

      *

Love the dress, but the shoes are all sorts of wrong!

  5. shizwhat says:

As beautiful as she is, as poised as she is, as used to the limelight as she is, she always looks awkward to me. I find it endearing. I don’t want to pick on the girl but someone like Ariana Grande has such a smug look on her face constantly… Angelina has always seemed humble and slightly awkward.

    • mar says:

      Agree 100%

    • bns says:

Really? I always think she looks really confident and regal.

      • shizwhat says:

I see that too! But I think she’s feeling awkward and poses in a regal way with her head up… almost like she’s reminding herself to do it. I hate to bring up that whole “leg” event when she wore that leg baring dress but she’s very posed. The only people who focus on a pose are the ones that feel awkward or think it makes them look attractive (side eye to J.Lo)

      • DenisePayne says:

Shizwhat, people have always overreacted to Angelina and they also assume wrongly, that she takes herself seriously..maybe because if they had that face it would be something they’d do. I think the designers of the dress with its high thigh split told her to stand a certain way to best show the design which was leg out and she did it. It was no big deal but of course if Jolie sneezes or looks a certain way at someone it’s a cataclysmic event. Lol they need to read her old interviews or hear from people who know her (Depp said she has a really funny, dark sense of humor) – and rather than posed like eyebrow hipster man friend of rachel’s, she’s poised. There’s a difference.

      • Dallas says:

@DENISEPAYNE, why even bring Jennifer Aniston into this conversation? Why compare the two? They are two totally different women. Take a deep breath! Who died and made you the Jolie defender? How exhausting!!!

      • Natasha says:

Dallas and you’re an Aniston defender how exhausting.

      • Dallas says:

@NATASHA, wrong! I defended Aniston once… But you continue to believe and say what you want.

      • Natasha says:

No, its not wrong. I’ve seen you a few times say nice things about Aniston and bash Jolie and Jolie fans.

    • lisa2 says:

I think people are use to seeing people slouched over. She has great posture and body position. Brad has great posture too.

She stands straight with her shoulders back and head up. That is good posture. I doubt she will ever have back problems.

      • DenisePayne says:

Lisa2, I agree..the way she carries herself is just elegant..i think Denzel Washington said that about her too…he also said she just moves like silk…i wonder if she had taken dance growing up or if that’s just innate. I watched the behind the scenes of Mr and Mrs Smith once, of her and Brad’s dance rehearsals. ..and she was like a ballerina.

  6. lower-case deb says:

after the muumuu phase, are we seeing her in a woolen phase? the kimono power suit, the long gala gown, now the day dress.

single-handedly sustaining the Australian wool industry?

btw, this one reminds me of her Kungfu Panda dress, at least the bodice part.

is Miyavi above average height or are the others not as tall as i thought they would be?

great to see they are having fun at the shoot.

He’s 185cm or about 6’1″. He’s pretty tall in Japan, but that could be because his father is Korean and they’re a bit taller on average.

    • dokilis says:

      No problem ^^

Though I can personally attest to the fact he looks much taller in person. His giant personality must help, too.

  7. Tanguerita says:

I don’t mind her thinness, but I feel that she should gone for a smaller set of boobs that would suit her frame better. These look too big (even when she puts on some weight) it looks like she might topple over at any moment. The dress is all right, the fabric seems cheap though. I like her more with her hair down.

    • Zandy says:

I think they look a lot smaller now then last her after her operation! I think they settled nicely and don’t look that big anymore!

      Lovely dress …

      • Yeah….remember those pictures of her in all black, and they looked like bulldozers–her breasts now look about half the size of that, so I don’t get how people think they still look huge. Especially since she’s always had big boobs for her frame. It’s one of the reasons that I’m always shocked that I find her beautiful…..I tend to veer toward my own body type as the standard for beauty–short, big boobs, butt, thighs…..so I was surprised that I loved AJ so much because she’s always been very thin for my tastes, no butt, etc. I always thought her body shape was very odd, because she’s boxy with big boobs and shoulders, and that face.

      • Ennie says:

I once was complaining to my older sister that Catherine Zeta Jones (when she was hitting it big) did not have a waist at all. I was probably reflecting myself, since in my family we need corsets to show something.
Well, her answer was priceless: there is more to a woman than her looks, also, my father used to say when I was complaining for my lack of shape: What do you need a waist for?
Actually it is to look good in dresses, nothing else.
In time it made me think that there is more to a woman than certain aspects of our appearance. We need confidence. AJ has a beautiful face, but she is not absolutely perfect. Still, she lives and projects confidence.

      • @Ennie
Great comment. Although I am glad that I’m not boxy…..but my family makes up for it for having the ‘Beard curse’–as my cousins all call it. Everyone in the family, whether they have big boobs, or not, ALWAYS end up with really wide hips. Especially after kids.

    • Jess says:

I agree on her boobs, little too big for her frame, but if I had a double mastectomy I’d probably go a little bigger than what I had as well, maybe they’ll settle down and look more natural in a few years.

    • Ennie says:

She has a wide torso. Without the natural tissue around the breasts, I think the small set would have probably looked funny on her. I don’t know about mastectomies much, only that the implants will usually look unnatural.
She is probably happier anyway now that the risk is much lower, she can go back to enjoy life more instead of worrying due to her family history.

    • DenisePayne says:

Women who I know pay a great deal of attention to Angelina, know that she had a full bosom before, and I think they just like saying this on ‘repeat’ as they get great satisfaction that she went thru something like that (terrible isn’t it? Aren’t they?)

For instance I’m sure they know and have read by now that up to a year, sometimes longer, after any type of augmentation – breasts are swollen and not representative of the size they’ll eventually settle at – looking at Angelina it appears they’ve already gone down somewhat. To me they appear her same size.

As I said yesterday…there’s nothing some women hate more than skinny girls with big racks (and if they’re also beautiful, WHOA -take cover!) so I don’t expect comments like yours to ever end, even when you know she had an almost 90 percent chance of breast cancer that SHE decided to do something about and that THAT is the sole reason you’re even able to talk about it.

You like to throw out inferences that have to do with vanity and how she looks in clothes. That’s not what she’s about.

This pictures are from the 2011 Golden Globes. Can you ‘honestly’ say that Angelina Jolie’s bosom appears to be larger now than in these pictures from 2011?

      • KAI says:

It’s very possible that the green dress has a built in bra with some padding.

I think Jolie did have larger breasts than her small frame would suggest but I believe the reconstruction implants are certainly bigger than her breasts were. It seemed especially so in the dress she wore to last years Oscars.

That said, it was her choice and no ones business.

      • Emma - the JP Lover says:

@Kai, who wrote: “It’s very possible that the green dress has a built in bra with some padding.”

You ‘want’ to believe Angie got large implants so regardless of what you see in front of you … “it’s very possible the green dress has a built in bra with some padding.” Right. Got it.

      • DenisePayne says:

Kai, I guess you didn’t read the enumerable posts about swelling/settling and breast augmentation – otherwise I’m sure you wouldn’t be mentioning her public appearances months after her surgeries.

Also re the example of the Emerald green dress which shows Angelina’s large bosom before her surgery – whether she had ‘pads’ or not (you wouldn’t know) the point is she presented as a slender boy hipped woman with larger breasts. So it makes no diff whether or not she had a padded bra if that’s how she’s looked in her dresses all along and through the years. Really it seems some people forget what points are even being argued and just devolve into wanting to put her down without thinking.

The only point in showing you pre-aug pics is to show you her already full bustline BEFORE surgery and to wonder why you’re mentioning these new pair roughly the same size??

It’s like what I said earlier – some people want her to, if not suffer, at least not consciously want to look like she did. Like they want her to pay a price for a surgery she elected to have for her health…it’s the weirdest meangirl bizarro reaction: ‘Waaah, well it’s fine and all she got implants and decided not to walk around with double mast scars, but why couldn’t she have gotten small ones that don’t fit her broad shoulders and carriage…Daayem her!!!’

  8. David says:

    WAY TO THIN!

  9. Jac says:

    Beautiful, this woman just shines!

  10. lucy2 says:

I like the dress, very appropriate for the occasion.

  11. Santolina says:

A softer color and shoulder coverage. Two thumbs up! Already, she looks ten years younger. The natural light flatters her, too.

  12. paola says:

The dress looks weird on the boob area but on the hips is perfect. She looks happy though and the Aussie sun makes her skin glow.

  13. Kitten says:

She’s stunning and I’m really loving her look lately.
This is just my own personal bias but I absolutely hate the tattoos-they’re so distracting.

That being said, nothing can disrupt the gorgeousness that is La Jolie’s face.

    • I actually like her tattoos. Maybe because they don’t seem random or stupid (like Tom Hardy’s–although I’m willing to lick them off 😉 I hate colored tattoos though………

      • Kitten says:

I just don’t like tattoos period and I find bare skin to be so much more beautiful.

That being said, I understand and respect that people use tattoos as a way to express themselves. FYI, my boyfriend has a tattoo so obviously it’s not a huge deal for me. I just prefer the uninterrupted aesthetic of pure, unmarked skin.

      • Haha–I don’t like tattoos on me either–but I think for Angelina they work. It’s probably just my perception of her–because I see her tattoos as something more meaningful, than I would with some random person (whose tattoos I wouldn’t know the history of). I do like some sleeve tattoos that I’ve seen, but not many. Even the Hardy’s tattoos are growing on me. I guess I also like smaller tattoos, stuff that you can cover up. My mom has a few, and I always forget because she got them in places that she could cover easily.

      • Lady D says:

How could you not like a colour tattoo, Virgi? I’m not a big fan of tatts either, but I think colour looks way better than black and white.

      • FLORC says:

No skin is unmarked. Sometimes a tattoo is just as much a part of the person as a scar,

Re: color tatts. The color fades and doesn’t always age well. If done right it ages well. If not it gets worse with time.

        VC
I have a rather large tattoo. About the size of Jolie’s tiger. It’s easily covered up and I often forget I have it. I couldn’t get 1 I couldn’t have concealed.
And I love Jolie’s because they have meaning. It’s sweet.

        Tatts aren’t for everyone.

      • @FLORC
You badass. I’m gonna call you Baby Angie now. Or maybe Dame FLORC. Which one do you like? As an aside-I was like completely shocked at how young you said you were. I always think you guys are so much older than me, haha. I don’t know why.

    • Esmom says:

Lady D, some people just get one color, which is sort of greenish. My sister has one like that, based on a black and white illustration.

  14. Bee says:

she’s obviously starving. She has never been THAT thin. I bet it’s because of Brad. He loves them very thin. Remember how thin Aniston looked when she was with him?

    • Loopy says:

hhmmm interesting observation Juliette Lewis, Gwyneth Paltrow..who else?

    • Zandy says:

Get lost you sad troll 👎

    • Ennie says:

      hahaha omg.

    • Kori says:

It could also be that they were all 20-something actresses in a profession that encourages women to be as pin-thin as possible. And they were at an age when women are often at their thinnest–before any children and the metabolic slowdown that comes with age. And some, like Gwyneth, still have self-admitted issues with food and self-image.

      • Yeah, I don’t understand how Brad’s the one who’s making all of his girlfriends/wives be skinnier, but I never saw any of those accusations when Goop was still with Chris–and she was in full blown juice cleansing then. And wasn’t there a rumor that Jennifer Aniston and Courteney Cox were having some kind of a ‘thin off’ on the set of Friends. And a producer called Jennifer fat on a previous tv pilot, so that’s why she ate the same salad for lunch for the entire run of Friends. To say it’s Brad’s fault is kind of off to me, especially since he’s never made any asshole comments like Ashton Kutcher did. “I don’t judge Mila for her pregnant body’…whatever.

    • epiphany says:

I don’t believe she’s starving, but empirical evidence does cause one to conclude that Brad likes his women very slender. Aniston lost a ton of weight while dating him during ‘Friends.’ Same with Paltrow, now Jolie.

    • doofus says:

      “obviously”?

if she were, in fact, “starving”, her hair wouldn’t look like it does, nor would her skin. and her cheeks/eyes would be sunken.

I agree she’s very thin, but “starving” is a bit much.

    • DenisePayne says:

My older half sister is Aniston’s age, and I recall her telling me Aniston started out as some nutrisystem like commercial spokesperson on Howard Stern (he made fun of her for years -i think recently they’ve been at the same events because her boyfriend is friends with kimmel and him) and she once promoted some group for young girls surrounding dieting, body image and eating disorders because she struggled with needing to starve herself for roles. She didn’t hang with it long it seems after her tv career picked up and she got a regular sitcom gig. My point: Aniston seemed to have an eating disorder or issues surrounding her weight (remember the jokes about eating the same bland salad every day?) waaay BEFORE Brad Pitt.

It’s funny though – you hear this alot, how Brad influences the women to be skinny while the same angry bitter ladies also want to portray him as an inanimate object who copies his gf’s hairdos who is unable to make his own decisions who gets led around by the nose and stolen. Which is it?

I think it’s neither, he’s a strong man who as his ex Juliette Lewis once stated likes complex women.

My point to some is that you can’t have it both ways.

    • DenisePayne says:

I really don’t get the statement ‘he likes them thin.’ Like Clooney and DiCaprio and Robert Pattinson and their peers are dating zaftig women?? Lol. Brad dates/marries within his industry – i.e., other actors. That means he likes and dates and marries actresses – actresses ARE thin, hello?? Just where is Pitt going to find these fat, plus size or even just voluptuous actresses who are constantly being employed right and left in Hollywood. Heh.

  15. Toot says:

Excellent post Kaiser! She looks so beautiful! Also when she was pregnant with the twins arms and legs were still thin.

    https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQWASf5GRvjihBFifM5FPPppp9tIVHtM7FJUVBF2zFE-biANOET

It doesn’t matter how much she weighs, she can’t help it.

  16. Chris2 says:

Oh that’s impeccable! I love her monochrome palette, imo it’s the best foil for her extravagant beauty. Gorgeous choice.

  17. Maya says:

A heartfelt thank you Kaiser about laying off the body shaming.

Angelina looks gorgeous, happy and content and she is literally glowing here. Angelina is every designers dream – everytime she wears designer stuff – the designer always tweets it straight after.

All of her interviews about this movie are very articulate, inspirational, passionate and well delivered. You can clearly see how in awe and admiration she had/has for Louis Z. And they way the man lived his life.

I sincerely hope that this movie gets awards and is a blockbuster – not because I am a certified Brangeloony but because of Louis Z.

    • Greata says:

      @Maya…Absolutely spot on!

    • lisa2 says:

It is the thing her detractors say ON EVERY SINGLE POST.. that and of course their obsession over her Breast..

I find the breast comments most offensive; especially coming from other women. Especially when you know why she and many women did the procedure.. gross.

  18. Annie says:

Angie is like a living mannequin. Most mannequins have really slender small built body with a big gorgeous face. She is thin but shapely and has this out of this world face. That’s why lots of women are so envious of her. Don’t forget that she is also so smart and talented, and most of all she is beautiful inside. I am a proud fan of hers.

  19. Delta Juliet says:

She got a haircut right? It looks lovely.

  20. Esmom says:

I love the dress, so perfect. The guys look kinda cute but slightly cray, one with his retro vibe and the other with his man-capris.

but great way of handling that reporter there, Angelina. what an awkward situation.

  22. SnarkGirl says:

    Love love love the dress!

Also, I love how she goes from stunningly beautiful to just freakin’ adorable when she laughs.

  23. Jess says:

I think she looks beautiful, and agree about her weight. She’s always been thin and it shows in her arms. I think she’s a busy mom of 6 and works very hard and doesn’t have time to eat, which I can relate to, I barely find time with one child. I wonder if she works out, she strikes me as someone who is naturally thin, can’t see her sweating it out at the gym!

  24. Ollyholly says:

I hate the grey, it’s too heavy on her. Just looks stiff.

As for her thinness, no doubt she is naturally thin. But we must be kidding ourselves as fans if we refuse to recognise that she is so thin, and enough people have spoken about her eating habits, that is pretty obvious she doesn’t eat enough. Some women have naturally small appetites, and I’m sure she is one.

    • Who has publicly spoken about her eating habits, and by that I mean people who actually know her, not speculation? The only thing I’ve ever read about her eating habits is during a few of her Vogue/VF interviews (At least one of them), she and the reporter met at a restaurant, and the reporter said that she ate a ton of pasta (I think it was shortly after she had her twins)….

        http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-2096663/Angelina-Jolies-tiny-frame-draws-gasps-Red-Carpet.html

Last night, a source who worked with Ms Jolie, 36, said that the mother of six often forgets to eat – and when she does, she survives on little more than a handful of nuts and berries.
During a recent photoshoot, the Tomb Raider star ate just a few almonds and picked on fruits including acai, goji, blueberries and chokeberries.
The source said: ‘She requested bowls of the berries, and that is all she ate during the day, even though there was a full buffet lunch on offer.
‘She said she was so busy with the kids that she forgets to eat, and that when she does sit down she prefers all her fruits and vegetables to be organic. She particularly likes exotic berries and was talking about how they were packed with nutrients.’

Oh yes, the always truthful Daily Mail…..eye roll.

These “sources” could not even tell us about her mastectomy or their wedding!!!!

      • DenisePayne says:

Thank you Lou..they don’t know even know the most basic stuff you can Google to find out re Jolie, and yet they know what she ate “*all* day?” (Eyeroll) I guess that means they know how often she went to the bathroom too. Riiiiight. It reminds me of that one fool who tried to write an unauth bio of Jolie yet got her kids birth dates and birth places wrong. Said shiloh was born in 2008 in France. Lol I mean you google shiloh and you get 10 million hits that say 2006 and Namibia.

  25. Annika says:

    She looks lovely.
I agree about laying off the body shaming, once & for all.
But I also think people need to lay off the triangle of doom, too. It’s sooooo old, boring, & nutty. It’s become a real turn off from this wonderful site.

  26. Luca76 says:

Looks so lovely. I love it when she dresses her age and she lets herself be less severe it softens her so much!

  27. Mireille says:

“There was a lot of conversation on yesterday’s post about Angelina’s “thinness.” It pisses me off. She’s a slender woman. She always has been…”

Amen to that Kaiser. Amen to everything you said, EXCEPT for the nude Louboutins. LOVE THOSE shoes. Never get tired of those shoes (I want those shoes). Of her look, this has been said so many times and let me say it again, she’s just a stunner and my gawd how beautiful is her skin under natural light. Sigh. Love her and jealous of her at the same time.

    • The other paige says:

Agree with everything mirellie-those shoes! Major lust…

      • Chris2 says:

I can understand the anti-nude shoes angle, especially regarding the Duchess of Cambridge’s pointless beigey versions.
But Angelina seems to really get it right, matching the leather exactly to her skin, and thus making the shoe work as a visual leg-lengthener (was that a Coco Chanel invention?)
        • And re Chanel….perhaps Angelina might vary the nude with the occasional black toe cap, as seen on the classic Chanel pumps?
        • But I like this look on her….it emphasises the cunning simplicity of her dresses.

  28. TTMuch says:

She looks WAY better than at the Hollywood Film Awards; it’s hard to believe this is taken just days after. She was looking very A Nightmare Before Christmas at the HFAs, totally bobble-head. She looks much better here. That’s gotta be some dress

  29. Brionne says:

The dress drapes over her mommy pooch beautifully. I like this dress on her. I don’t know I feel like during her tomb raider, girl interrupted, billybob years she was a bit fuller figured. Even on Mr and Mrs Smith the was thin but not starved looking. I’m probably the only one who thought her skinny thigh looked emaciated sticking out of that famous black gown. Still she is a stunningly beautiful and happily married woman. I’m waiting for the sequel to SALT.

  30. pnichols says:

I love that dress. It looks soooo comfortable. Her hair looks great too. Looks like she cut it. My girlfriend is super, super thin and always has been. People say stuff to her all the time and it bothers her. Some people are just skinny. No need to dissect them. God the woman had cancer, let’s move on. She looks awesome!! Can’t wait to see Unbroken.

  31. sighhhh says:

It’s not about thin shaming. Yes she has always been thin – however, to say it’s “natural” I think is a stretch. Her face was heavier in Gia, Hackers, George Wallace, etc. I think she likes to be thin to show her facial bone structure – it looks better on camera. She has intentionally under eaten for years. It’s her body so she eats enough to live I suppose but let’s not pretend she looks healthy. It is what it is I love angie and hope the film does well but I would love to plump her up give her a nice tan darken her hair and dress her in glamorous clothing and see her beauty really shine! She is just doing this pale thin thing and I’m not sure it’s her best look.

Brad doesn’t make these women thinner. What Jen Aniston Paltrow and Jolie have is common is they all have body fixations and disordered eating.

    • BNA FAN says:

Why are you so fixated on other people’s weight. Angelina has always been thin, go back and check out her photos on the Internet/check the archives. There are photos of Angelina from about 12 years old until today, she was never fat. I agree with kaiser, it’s time to stop with the body shaming every time a beautiful photo of Angelina is posted, it’s so old cry from tge trolls. “she is to thin, she needs to eat something, so high school mean girls. Angelina bust has always been the same size, above average bust. Angelina has said she is “Not flat Chested” years ago, I have read her saying that, maybe eight years ago. I remember her setting the record straight about her bust. check it out.

      • lisa2 says:

It is catnip to them..What they have to show that she is imperfect.. something every woman is. But how many times do they have to say it.. Always bringing up Tomb Raider. or pictures when she was twenty or younger.

They won’t stop.. so it is what it is.. Angie doesn’t care so whatever.

      • sighhhh says:

I agree she has always been thin that’s not the issue. She has not eaten properly for years and it’s documented there are old articles from the late 90s about her brother begging her to eat and her eating nothing but cheerios. Just because she was never over weight dor not mean she is “naturally ” as thin as she is now. Just accept it. We can love her and her work but it doesn’t require denial about her weight. It’s not in any way a detractor to her greatness but it’s not very flattering to her appearance either.

    • Goats on the Roof says:

I can’t and won’t speak to Angelina’s eating habits because I clearly have no idea. I have to say that it is exhausting that any and every bit of concern over a person’s weight these days is chalked up to ‘body shaming.’ There are some mean comments out there to be sure, but not every expression of concern or even criticism is body shaming, and I’m tired of seeing it all being lumped together.

      • doofus says:

        thank you for this.

there is a difference between simply NOTING someone’s frame and insulting them or shaming them for it.

both occurred on this site yesterday. I am not an official Brangeloonie, but I do like her, I think she seems to be a good mother and partner/wife, and I admire her humanitarian work very much. that being said, it’s not “concern trolling” if you have genuine concern. I think she’s the kind of person who takes really good care of those she cares about, but doesn’t take enough care of herself. yes, the preventative surgery was definitely in the category of “taking care of herself” but I mean more on a day-to-day basis.

yesterday, I chalked up her look to being exhausted and working too hard, and I stand by that. I want her to take a LONG vacation with her family, sit around and eat and drink a lot. The thing is, she’s said that she’s very high energy and doesn’t like just sitting around. when you have a high metabolism, and you “forget” to eat, and you’re running around all the time (oh, and you have six kids), it’s likely that you’ll have a very slight frame.

      • Cindy says:

I know there are some who are actually mean about her weight. But I think most on here adore her. Including me. The words ” body shaming” are a bit over-used. I think she is too thin, because she doesn’t take good enough care of herself and really is more focused on caring for others. We all have our demons. I’m sure angelina has hers.

      • JenniferJustice says:

I tried to say this yesterday on another AJ thread, but to no avail. Yes, she is a stunning woman. Yes, her face is absolutely beautiful, and her works in humanitarianism have been invaluable. But the fact is she doesn’t look healthy. She is well below the BMI for her heighth. Her bones and her veins show. I’m sure she has a high metabolism and I’ve read numerous times, she’s super picky about what she puts in her body, so I doubt she eats much. I don’t really care about her looks. What I do care about is the message that she is “the most beautiful woman in the world” and what that says to girls and young women who think that build should be coveted. It sends a bad message. Period!

    • Emma - the JP Lover says:

@Sighhhh, who wrote: “It’s not about thin shaming. Yes she has always been thin – however, to say it’s “natural” I think is a stretch. Her face was heavier in Gia, Hackers, George Wallace, etc.”

Angie is 39-years-old. She was 20-years-old in “Hackers,” 22-years-old in “George Wallace,” “23-years-old in “Gia,” and 24-years-old in “Girl Interrupted.” That was 19 to 15 years ago. Do you still look the same as you did 19 or 15 years ago? Is your face still as full as it was 19 or 15 years ago?

    • DenisePayne says:

Dude, her face was heavier in “Hackers?” Really? You’re going there? OK I’ll play: my guess is heavier aka fuller because, oh I don’t know…being 19 and youth in general tends to do that. Hello?

Women can’t win, if she ever does gain 10+ pounds you’ll accuse her of getting fillers.

Her bone structure is her dad’s – look at his young early 20s face it was wide and full…they both looked like cherubs in the face…but the rest of them was long, lean and gangly. Jolie has a wide flatter face with high cheekbones which is why even though she’s thin her face never looks gaunt to me..there’s always that wide sweetness to her face.

  32. Kori says:

Yes, she has always been thin. Yes, she has had a lot of stress and health problems the last few years. But I do think she’s thinner than she has been at other points and would look better with just a few more pounds. Not much but she does look more frail to me than in previous years. Her arms have always been thin but it’s showing more in her face. Just my opinion. And I say this as a huge Angelina fan. To me her most beautiful was when she was pregnant with the twins (and fuller in the face) and appeared at Cannes (?) in the long green gown (which was a perfect color on her with her eyes). You can see her natural thinness then–her arms were still very slender–but she looked softer and glowing. She is so beautiful though and it’s great to see her here with such a beaming smile on her face. Her makeup is great too–I wasn’t a fan of her award appearance earlier–I thought the foundation was too light and the eyeliner too heavy and made her look harsher. This is a great look for her–the slight cat’s eye and lip color.

    • Anne tommy says:

I am not in any way anti Angie or body shaming – she is stunning. But her frame does look thin or very slender or whatever phrase one chooses. To remark on that is not extraordinary on a gossip site. It is the same as noticing that Melissa McCarthy and Gaboure Sidibe are large. I Am a fan of both those talented ladies and am not shaming them either , unlike many who assume all large people are lazy and/ or greedy. Whether Angie is TOO thin is a different issue.

  33. bns says:

    I wonder what’s going on with her…

    • Toot says:

      Happiness! 🙂

      • BNA FAN says:

I agree with you Toot, Angie looks so happy. I’m sure she is living her life doing good things for the less fortunate. Angie is happy with her “Great husband” and loving children, and it shows, she looks absolutely beautiful. Btw, I love her grey dress, fits her perfectively.

The best way to put the trolls in a downward spiral is to see Angelina looking happy, beautiful and healthy with Brad by her side. And yes, I’m a Brad and Angelina’s fan. I will never leave a comment on jennifer’s thread, why waste my time to say something negative about
her when she is just a footnote in Brad’s life now.

      • bns says:

        @BNA Fan

        Trolls? Downward spiral?

        I can’t.

  34. Itsnotthatserious says:

Women spend fortune to lose weight and yet pick on one that is thin. She is born beautiful and will put on weight as she gets older and her metabolism slows down, but if you are born ugly? Well, there is always plastic surgery and your reflection looking back at you.

  35. Observer says:

On a positive note: She has lovely muted green/hazel eyes. I don’t know why magazines insist on photoshopping them blue.

  36. Someonestolemyname1 says:

The dress is perfection. She is a stunning woman.

  37. Itsnotthatserious says:

Her movie is listed at the top of most award sites and yet she is not being asked at every opportunity about the oscar buzz for her movie, ironic isn’t .

  38. Anare says:

The dress is boring. It’s just fine, meh. She is thin. That’s just her shape. Her reconstructed breasts are a just a bit too big for her long thin frame.

    • DenisePayne says:

She probably got them the same size, augmentation as serious as hers also takes much time to heal and you account for swelling and settling. They might go down a bit more and with them your bitter. She didn’t do it for fun and to look great in a bikini in mexico..you do know she had an almost 90% chance of breast cancer and that no one on her mom side even lives to 60 years old? But by all means keep talking like she’s Pam Anderson on baywatch and grinding your teeth. Lol skinny girls and large tahs bring out THE worst in some women.

  39. Jh says:

She looks AMAZING!!! Her face is beyond gorgeous! This is the best she has looked in a while.

  40. Paige says:

Beautiful woman. I love when she wears her hair down.

  41. Josefa says:

My God, her face looks absolutely stunning here. Especially in the thumbnail chosen.

Salt was on TV the other day. I wish they made a sequel for that. That film was hilarious.

  42. Alec says:

I have the exact opposite problem. I have a tiny waist and very big arms. When my arms are by my side you can’t see my waist. It actually gives the illusion of being heavier than I actually am.

  43. Jackson says:

This particular dress style really works for her body – adds a bit of curve and shape and also covers and plumps up her collar bone/shoulder areas. She should have this dress in multiple colors! I think I’m fine with nude shoes more than most on this site are (see Kate Middleton, lol.) Gray pumps would have looked nice here though, too. Wait, is she still in Australia? It’s practically summer there, isn’t it? So, yeah, I like the nude choice vs a darker shoe.

  44. Mellie says:

I want that dress in the worst way…she looks fab in it, I’m with you on the nude shoes though, would like to see something black or gray or red or navy! She is truly beautiful, fat or thin, inside and out. P.S. I love Jen too…let the beatings begin.

  45. Anny says:

The dress is beautiful and her makeup is really pretty. I like this look way more than the previous one. Her body shape worries me though. I used to have an eating disorder in my teens (I overcame it and I can confidently say I am okay now) and my body used to look very similar for a long time. She is way too thin. It does not necessarily mean she is unhealthy or doesn’t eat healthily but you can seriously damage your immunity system longterm. She might be forgetting to eat due to stress – some people eat a lot when stressed and some just forget to eat completely or just don’t feel hungry at all. I just remember that she looked fuller a while ago. Suits her definitely more but I know how hard it is to keep some meat on your bones when you tend to skip meals due to workload or stress. Also she had an eating disorder in her teens – that can seriously mess up your metabolism too. I don’t mean to criticise her or body shame her at all. I know how it feels when everyone seems to tell you to “eat a burger” (it sucks). I just wanted to express that I worry about her. She had a lot on her plate lately so I hope it is just stress and nothing serious. (and sorry for my English, not my first language)

  46. RobN says:

I can’t buy the concept that any comment on a person’s weight is body shaming. Not all comments are created equally and shouldn’t be treated that way. I find her disturbingly thin, the skin hangs on her arms in a way that I find to be incredibly unhealthy. I hope that she is healthy and that there is more going on behind the scenes to keep her that way than anybody knows. That kind of comment should not be treated the same way that we treat some idiot who calls a size 6 woman a pig.

It seems especially important to me when it’s somebody like AJ, who gets a lot of attention for a number of things, that this body shape not be touted as something for 14 year old girls to aspire to.

    • Brittney B says:

When I think of Angelina Jolie as a role model for teenage girls, her body shape is the absolute last thing I think of. She has *never* been famous for her banging body; it was always her face, her talent, and her personality.

Actually, I started following her when I was 14 (more than a decade ago), so I know where you’re coming from… but I think you’re way off-base here. In all that time, she has always been very thin, and her “odd” (read: not hourglass) body type actually intrigued me as a teenager. Her proportions were never standard Hollywood fare, and that made me happy because I was never going to be a thin, tan blonde with huge boobs and a corset waist.

If you’re not a doctor who knows her personally, I’m not sure how you could possibly tell that her skin or arms are “incredibly unhealthy”. Photos and videos — and comparisons to other stars with very different priorities and genetics — don’t really tell us anything about the woman herself, or how her body’s doing. I also have no idea where this “hanging skin” is, because her skin looks healthy and hydrated in every single one of these pictures.

    • Josefa says:

While I disagree on Angelina’s body in particular (she looks fine to me), I do agree about the body shaming comments. There’s a difference between calling a woman anorexic and saying she’d look better with some extra pounds.

  47. Emma - the JP Lover says:

    @Kaiser …

Way to hold your own. 🙂

  48. Jess says:

Love the dress, hate the shoes.

  49. Brittney B says:

I usually don’t even comment on Angelina posts because I’d be a broken record… she never, ever disappoints.

But this is SUCH a flattering look, and Kaiser is SO right about the body-shaming comments.

Angelina’s weight changes so far have correlated with losing family members, carrying children, and undergoing major surgery. Thanks for continuing to remind us of that, Kaiser. Not because Angelina Jolie needs or wants to be defended — or because her size matters at all compared to the work she does — but because if you’re so quick to judge her, you’re probably quick to judge the real people in your life too. Next time you think an acquaintance is a “pig” for gaining weight or a friend is “anorexic” for losing it — or if you think a stranger must be “strung out” because of how they look — remember that there could be extenuating circumstances that are none of your business. It might make you a little more compassionate in general.

    • Paige says:

Brittney you should comment more often. It’s good to see logic.

    • DenisePayne says:

Beautiful post Brittney B. I continue to maintain ‘Angelina Jolie,’ and how you discuss her is a rorschact test for women who have their priorities skewed. ..and reading the comments in these threads as Kaiser points out is disheartening, not because it hurts Angelina (I doubt Angelina will ever know or care – she lives a very full, exciting and accomplished existence with much love from her husband and 6 kids) – but it shows me how immature, bitter and vindictive women are to each other and that they have an inherent need to destroy perceived (imagined) rivals.

As I’ve said before if ever there was a woman in H’wood who was not just the sum of her parts, it’s Angelina Jolie. Yet some women like the ones in this thread, line up to body shame her as if she’s Courtney Stodden or Kim Kardashian. Personally I think, much like the tabloids and PR enemies its an attempt to distract people from what she does and what she represents. If we’re talking about her implants or her clavicles we’re not talking about the oscar touted feature film she directed…we’re not talking about refugee day, or rape in war time.

Jolie’s presentation to Malalah Yousafazai generates no comments about this kids bravery or about Jolie’s schools for girls in Afghanistan or about KIND which helps persecuted child immigrants – but it devolves into snarky comments about her ‘sack dress’ and being too skinny (for the 3,678,923rd time).

It’s their attempt, it is my belief, to take away her importance and what matters and make her the next tabloid story for the overweight ladies buying glazed doughnuts and feeling angry about their own lives standing in the impulse aisles.

You know it’s a ploy and an attempt to denigrate because it’s the same topic every single time. Almost as if Angelina has suffered some drastic weight loss. How can you see someone so often (we all saw her for an entire month straight in her run up to Maleficent’s release, then we saw various candids as she shot her film down under, we saw her with william hague, etc. ) for soooo long stretching back more than a decade with her being the exact same size (minus a pregnant belly) and say the exact same thing every time?

Did people do this with Babs Streisand? Like talk about her big nose being big from one day to the next and then acting surprised that it’s still a big nose on the following Tuesday?

Or more similarly, did they do the same to Audrey Hepburn who weighed less than Jolie and got smaller and skinnier as she got older and throughout her years and her work with UNICEF? Like do they really think one day soon they’re going to see a fuller figured Angelina?

I almost wish it would happen ( a weight gain) if for no other reason that when Jolie drops the weight and gets skinny again, at least their mass outrage/envy and constant blathering on of her weight loss, and thinness and diet and skinny arms – would at least make sense at that point. It would be a differential, a CHANGE, she’d give a different appearance.

But it’s the same exact Jolie.

Just start every post with, ‘Still skinny.’ Then move on to the topic at hand. If Queen Elizabeth can appreciate an accomplished American woman for more than her bra size and what it says on the scale, surely you peasants ;), can do the same.

People cannot accept someone who’s naturally thin.
      I can’t believe it.
I have always been an average size , except when my thyroid stopped working and I took a lot of pounds. Once I’ve started my medication I went back to normal, and there are people who still tells me how THIN I am. I am not thin, I am a size 8! Which is probably a size 2 in Kardashanland ok…
I’ve been like that for the most part of my life, but they do remember only the time when I was sick and overweight.

  51. kibbles says:

I think Angelina has one of the most beautiful faces in the business and I think in these set of photos she is simply glowing. That said, I have to disagree with Kaiser that this is Angelina’s healthy weight. I know many naturally thin people as well as naturally curvy/thick people and I have seen people who are emaciated as well as morbidly obese. Most of us have the ability to estimate whether someone is on one of those extreme ends. Angelina may be naturally thin, but that doesn’t mean that she is healthy. This look is not good on her and for a woman who is considered one of the most beautiful in the world, it is not a good for people to think that this weight is something most women should strive for. I say this as someone who likes Angelina and appreciates her beauty, but until our society recognizes that Angelina Jolie, Kate Middleton, and so many other celebrities are not following healthy/normal diets and exercise, the sooner we can stop body shaming the majority of non-celebrity women who refuse to starve and over-exercise in order to get this type of bone thin body.

    • DenisePayne says:

Kibbles, I’d lay you odds NO ONE with an ounce of sense thinks anything about Angelina Jolie is attainable.

That’s the primary reason she has such a fierce dedicated broken record of haters that body shame her and call her a homewrecker CONSTANTLY.

It’s because they inherently know they can’t get a layer cut and a self tanner and look like/be Jolie. That evokes anger and lashing out.

When young girls look at Angelina Jolie they should think about what they CAN easily emulate: making this world a better place, being charitable, studying the craft acting and taking classes (WHAT Angelina’s mom had her do) …and wanting to copy her that way….not about buying lips that look like hers or losing weight to be a size 2. Angelina is not to be blamed because some people don’t instill the right priorities in their own children. If you’re looking at this woman and not telling your daughter how she’s matured and accomplished great things that MATTER…and how she helps girls who can’t get educations, or with her husband helps rebuild areas of the country your gov forgot, or establishes foundations for child refugees and gets Microsoft to help fund….if your telling your kid none of that but she hears you constantly focusing on Jolie’s APPEARANCE and reducing her to the exact sum of her body parts…it is YOU who are damaging her through sexism, and misogyny…it’s YOU telling her no matter what she does in life…the most important thing is that her breasts not appear to big for her frame.

THAT is effed up. I worry about some women who are driven to disassemble and dissect and gang up on other women to cannibalize them. I’ve always cringed when a girlfriend of mine would say she wouldn’t ever want to work for another woman, or she’d say women shouldn’t run the country or be ceos….- but I also know she’d look at this entire thread…and show this as her evidence.

  52. tabasco says:

Note to Kim Kardashian: THIS is the right style of dress for your body shape. In the correct size. NOT the too-small, too-complicated, too-everything stuff you normally wear.

  53. Dee Kay says:

When I see these photos, I see a person who has accomplished a huge goal — directing an epic film about a dear friend who was heroic and inspiring to her — and who is so happy and excited to bring her work to the public. I see the joy and positive energy in her posture and her gestures and facial expressions. She is so proud of this film, and I feel extremely proud of her for getting this work completed and released. How great for her!!

Meanwhile, this site is full of comments about her body, most of them negative.

I wish we could see Angelina Jolie here as a model of a working woman, not just as…another model, another body, another physical form to admire or disparage. Let’s praise women’s work, and care less about their figures.

    • Brittney B says:

      Thank you!

That’s what I see, too. She’s glowing and proud, and she’s in the company of colleagues she respects. Her beauty is impossible to ignore, but so is her joy, and I’d rather have the latter than the former.

  54. Ciria says:

Great dress. Her legs are so unnattractive. Her face is still beautiful by my goodness, I think she has an eating disorder. She was not always this thin, no way. In her Gia days, she had a lot more meat on her skin. When she was in Tomb Raider, she looked healthy/muscular. Now she looks so gaunt and emaciated.

    • Luciana says:

How dare you say that about Dame Jolie?!

    • Apricotvodka says:

Gia vs now = early 20s vs late 30s
TR (need to put on weight & muscles) vs now (health issues)
Not fair, not fair at all.

    • Amcn says:

Tireless humanitarian, devoted mother and wife, accomplished actress and film maker, called most beautiful woman in the world, definitely one of the most famous, awarded and respected role model…but her legs are not nearly shapely or tan enough. Better call it quits.

Why do we need feminism again? Oh yeah.

  55. INeedANap says:

I am not going to comment on La Jolie, mostly because I think her humanitarian work far surpasses any commentary on her looks.

I am, however, going to comment on how well Miyavi is rocking the high-waters and loafers. That could have looked really dumb, but he looks fab!

    • dokilis says:

I think he has kind of a fashion magic – he looks good in anything. I suppose considering all the weird stuff he’s worn over the years, though, something like this wouldn’t even make me bat an eye, though 🙂

  56. Amcn says:

She is gorgeous. Perfect face, beautiful body and absolutely glowing with happiness and confidence from head to toe. Eloquent and thoughtful. I love when she hesitates over an answer like that because it seems like she is really searching for a meaningful way to express herself, rather than a cookie cutter response. What she said about men, brad, her sons etc. was beautiful.

  57. Cait says:

    She looks stunning.

  58. Apricotvodka says:

Her custom made Versace clothes always look like the have built-in undergarments, much like Lady Diana’s did.

  59. maddelina says:

Wow! That was awkward. Interesting how she had to bring up the letters. I don’t think she likes to go off script.

    • Lou says:

What was awkward about it? You seem mad that they wrote letters. Was she not asked about the time her & Brad were filming apart?

At least she is not talking about thinking thoughts and being so empowered with no makeup. She at least can speak properly and talk about things beyond her looks, unlike some shallow people…….

    • DenisePayne says:

Half of the deeply personal ish we know about Jolie, the TMI, what we know about her early emotional struggles, her childhood, her dad, her mom, her work – etc., are because she went off script….back in the mid 90s no starlets were walking around with tats…and showing them if they wanted to be employed…she didn’t care…her cutting and why she cut…no one else reported on that stuff…it was Jolie telling the world. Off script is kinda what she does. She’s got a film to promote.

  61. Claudia says:

Still, she looks painfully thin to me and she was not that thin a couple of years ago, her face was not as gaunt as it is now. I makes me sad, she used to be so out of this world beautiful.

    • DenisePayne says:

Oh please. You can do a search on this very site from “a couple years ago,” – and read the exact same comments from women concern trolling her then. In fact I just did it…she took the 3 kids out for a stroll in NOLA and is wearing a black poncho and jeans and in between the incessant comments from haters of how because she’s walking with her kids she’s using them for PR, the thread is interspersed with the usual mouth foaming suspects saying she’s a 36 year old anorexic and that’s why she’s wearing the poncho. In fact, it was quite interesting in 2013 (almost “a couple years ago”) she showed up to the ‘Women in the World’ conference in NYC and presented Malalah Yousafazai in long floor length garb, looking pretty much the same but little did people know she was post surgery and wearing drainage tubes. She’d fly to the ME with William Hague a week later and he was astounded at her stamina he never suspected she had just had major surger Yet you want to say in both of these circumstances (2012, and 2013) she was so noticeably heavier than present day that you noticed it and that’s the only reason you’re commenting? Riiiiiiiiight.

  62. JenniferJustice says:

  65. Twinkle says:

It’s a beautiful dress and she looks great in it. Typically, I’m not a fan of Versace and I wish that Angelina would expand her closet with other designers. But, she looks beautiful!

As for her thinness, one should have the problem of being naturally thin. As long as she’s healthy then more power to her for her slim frame. I wish I could be naturally thin, but I have to work. Hard. It’s a drag. I don’t understand why she gets the brunt of the rude comments about her body when there are other women out there that are just as skinny or even skinnier: Alessandra Ambrosio and Miranda Kerr to name two. I like Angelina’s frame: long, long legs, thin arms, beautiful cavicle and shoulders.

  66. JenniferJustice says:

So much fighting and arguing about her weight and health.

I want to turn the subject to the fact that of all the women in the world (and yes, he could probably have any one of them), Brad chose AJ and he remains completely devoted and I beleive, in love with her. Regardless of her weight, boniness, even boxy shape as some of you say, it is she he wants. I don’t think Brad Pitt is the catch that everybody thinks. He is a beautiful specimen, yes, but he is not intellectually stimulating. What is attractive about him to me is that he is attracted to her brain…as well as her beauty. In this day and age and in Hollywood, no less, I find that refreshing and hopeful. It’s also something to remember when talk turns to how catty we women are with one another. I, for one, am happy to see a man truly enchanted with his wife and her life force.

  67. TuesdaysChild says:

She looks great. Happy. That dress is fabulous and is extremely flattering on her. Hope the movie does well.

  68. Lucky Charm says:

Now THIS is the type of dress that Duchess Kate should wear. It’s flattering, but not matronly, and won’t fly up. She even has her own pair of nude pumps to wear with it! Personally, I think a pair of red shoes would be awesome with this color dress.

Angelina looks so young and happy here, you forget she’s almost 40. Definitely one of her better looks, but I have to admit she really knocks it out of the park when she wears a color. Has she ever worn a royal blue dress? I don’t recall ever seeing her in one.

  69. scout says:

See how few nights of good sleep works? She looks radiant and beautiful in that Gray dress. I agree, she was always slim as a 16yrs old in old photos and she still has the same slim frame but mature face. She has evolved in every way beautifully.

  70. jane16 says:

    Gorgeous.

  71. Natasha says:

I’ve rarely seen her look so beautiful! She is glowing! Her skin looks great and her hair looks so full and shiny! Hair doesn’t lie, and her thick full and shiny hair shows good health.

  72. Sasha says:

    Ridiculously beautiful. Oh Lord.

  73. Eat Angelina says:

Angelina does not look good or healthy at all. Yes she has always been slender not bony and skeletal anyone with a right mind would know she doesn’t look healthy right now. I don’t care how much of a celebrity crush anyone has on Angelina… I personally do not think she is the shit there are actresses with way better bodies and curves. If she is as strong as she thinks she is why is she so skeletal something there has been going on for awhile I truly believe she is a different person outside the public view.

    • Natasha says:

She looks very healthy, she is naturally thin, stop body shaming. And Angelina is what you see, publicly and privately. What you see is what you get. But believe what you need to believe.

  74. Likey says:

I still find Jessica Chastain much more beautiful, honestly. Angelina is just so thin. The dress is nice but she picked it to make her thinness – you’re in denial if you think she’s not cruising on some sort of caloric restrictive diet – less obvious. On her red carpet looks, her best ever look was the LA premiere of Mr and Mrs Smith. (And she was at least 10 pounds heavier.) The story of Unbroken is the exact sort of thing that I would have guessed she’d pick: “heroic” and “individualistic,” and a bit one dimensional in philosophy. She’s the Olympic Games of the film industry.

    • DenisePayne says:

Interesting Likey, you threw everything in your kitchen sink of bitter. Let’s review:

You told us about some random actress who you think is ‘much more beautiful’ than Jolie (how special for her that you and her mom think so), body shamed Jolie, implied Jolie has an eating disorder, claimed Jolie was 10lbs heavier 10 years ago with no proof in evidence (actual photos suggest..nah, same exact size), and last but not least bizarrely insulting Jolie’s Oscar touted film you (and no one else) haven’t even seen yet – weirdly calling her the ‘Olympic games of the film industry,’ on what is only her sophomore effort (how does that happen exactly? Are you bad mouthing the future films she hasn’t even made yet? Whoa. That’s some next level meangirling right there)

Does a woman director who’s recently just started her career acquire a premature tag inferring she has a ‘go to’ type of film/story she likes to direct when she’s yet to release even one wide releasing feature film?

Your comment implies she’s been around for decades and makes these certain kinds of films, I.e., say about war heroes like scorcese makes films about good fellas.

      One film dude, one.

Settle down. Your chomping at the bit to release the meangirl kracken but shhhhh….at least wait until it comes out – you’ll sound less predictable, unhinged and nasty.

Her next film is a period piece focusing on a deteriorating romantic relationship…for your sake, maybe the characters are ‘heroic and individualistic”…maybe they’re Olympic athletes…one dimensional Olympic athletes…but hey even if the film is not even close, we’ll be right here expecting you to hate it sight unseen anyway! 🙂

      • Likey says:

Hey, it’s not the end of the world if someone doesn’t love a public figure you might love. Agree to disagree, and my post was definitely no where near the meangirl kracken level you refer to. Chill, buddy. The Internet’s a diverse place; let’s keep it that way.

      • lisa2 says:

        @denise

your assessment was spot on.. I find it funny when someone post and thinks others don’t get the underlying theme.

and you don’t have to like a celebrity.. and yes people get to comment on your comment. Thus is the nature of posting on any site.

        Chill on that.

      • DenisePayne says:

        Thanks Lisa2! 🙂

Also likey, as Lisa2 mentioned I’m commenting on your comment – that’s what happens on message boards…why so sensitive? 😉 If Angelina was as sensitive as you she’d wake up one day in the future a 46 yr old neurotic basket case with no Oscars. Not speaking of anyone in particular mind you. The cool inspiring thing about her is that she gets it done.

I don’t mind people ‘not liking,’ someone – but the reason for my response to other ‘haters,’ or ‘non-likers,’ is that listing 5 random things like 1) jessica is more beautiful 2) she was heavier 10 yrs ago 3) her directed films I’ve had a chance to see are all the same, all 1 of them. 4) skinny. 5) did I say skinny. Bonus disliker: did I mention there’s another exquisite actress who’s more exquisite than the one many think is most exquisite…sooo..nah?

Those reasons don’t really seem a valid reason to dislike anyone. What am I missing? I like things to make sense. I like honesty. If you think she and Brad wounded and hurt his ex by hooking up too quickly after his split, if you’re a super fan of the ex and will continue to hate Jolie for home wrecking (as you perceive it), if you think Brad was just an a hole for leaving the smartest most beautiful ensemble sit com actress ever even if he did nothing wrong at all….just say THAT. That, I get. It explains the constant ragging on his beautiful accomplished wife even today 10 years later. Wear your team shirt proudly.

It’s when I don’t get the vitriol and when I sense unspoken rage – that’s when I post. More people should just be as honest as chelsea handler: I.e., I’m jealous, I’m unattractive and I don’t like her because she’s a demon who will take my man.

But disliking her because Chastain looks better (you believe) and because you have a hunch any and all of her future films will be ‘heroic?’ That doesn’t sound right. It’s my belief that these comments are spurred by Brad Pitts personal love life..and like most basic ishes…our feelings toward each other usually come down to what we value as the biggest prize, ‘the guy.’ The kracken is released when what we covet goes to the unattainable beautiful accomplished girl we can’t easily emulate. Yes. Meow.

Sorry, but I’m not jealous of her at all, and all the psychobabble won’t make it so. I understand it’s hard for you to understand that, but it’s okay, I know you’re a little obsessed. If it makes you feel better, okay, there’s no reason why people shouldn’t be completely crazy about Angelina Jolie unless they’re petty, jealous meangirls (not!). Thanks for illustrating the Brangeloonie phenomenon in action. Peace out!

I really like the hair color darker and length.. She must be happy to finally get the film out there.

That video brought tears to my eyes.

Well, at least you admit to being a certifiable Brangeloonie. The Cumberloonies should be so honest with themselves.
