Anne Hathaway is ‘fascinated’ by her doppelganger, Amal Alamuddin-Clooney

FFN_Hathaway_Anne_TERO_012015_51631221

Here are some photos of Anne Hathaway out and about in NYC yesterday. I hate those jeans. I love her hair these days though. Annie’s doing press/promotion for Song One, the small-budget film she co-produced with her jewelry-designer husband Adam Shulman. During the course of her Extra interview, Annie was asked about something that I actually forgot about months ago! When Amal Alamuddin burst on the scene last year as “George Clooney’s girlfriend,” many of us noted at the time that Amal looked sort of like Anne Hathaway. There’s a passing resemblance if you look hard enough – Anne is pale and Amal has a Mediterranean, olive skin tone. Amal’s face is longer. But there is a resemblance, especially when Amal is wearing sunglasses. There were a few shots where you really thought you were looking at a really tan Annie Hathaway. Which begs the question… does Anne Hathaway ever wonder to herself, “Damn, I could have had George Clooney”? You can see Annie’s Extra interview here.

“Extra’s” Tracey Edmonds caught up with actress Anne Hathaway to chat about her new film, “Song One.” Tracey also bringing up the Anne’s similarity to George Clooney’s wife Amal. Tracey, “You do bare a resemblance to the striking Amal Clooney, has anyone ever told you that?”

Ann, “I’ve never heard that but thank you…That’s so going to be the best thing that happens to me today.” Hathaway not only flattered by the comparison but also just as “fascinated” with her as the rest of us, “I hope that one day I become half the woman she is, she’s so accomplished and it’s so thrilling to look at someone and say ‘wow you really are making the world a better place’.”

Anne and her husband Adam Schulman co-producing “Song One” together, the first producing project for them both. Anne getting emotional talking about her hubby, “He’s great…You know it sounds really silly, but I’m excited to see what he’s going to wear to his first press day as a producer, shoot, I just got teary.” Anne continued, “We both worked so hard on this, but it’s whatever when it’s you, but when it’s someone you care about as much as your husband, I’m just so proud of him.”

Hathaway playing a woman who discovers her brother’s music after he gets in a car accident, explaining how the film is different from others, “It’s a movie that believes deeply in the power of music, if that speaks to you when you hear that then this movie is for you, but if you’re just someone who just thinks music’s okay and listens to it, this might not be the movie for you.”

[From Extra]

Annie talks about Adam like he’s her son, right? “I’m excited to see what he’s going to wear to his first press day as a producer…” Is that the way you talk about your husband? I don’t know. But I’ve always wondered about them. Like, I think Annie married her BFF, not her torrid lover. Well, it takes all kinds. As for Annie’s thoughts on Amal… “I hope that one day I become half the woman she is…” What she’s really thinking is “Damn it, why didn’t anyone tell me I could have ended up married to George Clooney?!?”

Huh. I don’t see the resemblence myself. In other news, I like AnnE’s coat and scarf.

  2. Kiki04 says:

Doppelganger? According to who? I feel like that may be a bit of wishful thinking on Anne’s part…..

    • perplexed says:

She seemed surprised at the comparison in the excerpt above.

    • SpookySpooks says:

      I think Anne’s prettier.

Also, why would she want to marry George Clooney?

      • perplexed says:

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. She’s considerably younger than Clooney. Then again, so is Amal. But…

      • alreadyready says:

I prefer Anne, too. Besides, I don’t see all this Amal ‘ s contribution to a better world. Maybe in the future, who knows. For now I see a woman with a Job who landed a rich and famous older man.

      • AbbySaurusVex says:

Agree on both counts. I wouldn’t wish George Clooney on my worst enemy.

      • kibbles says:

Exactly. Anne is much too young for Clooney. Even though she is married to a hipster jewelry designer, I believe Anne is happier with him than she ever would be with Clooney. The guy is seriously overrated and way past his prime.

      • BW says:

Why would she want to marry Clooney? She wouldn’t. But she may want to PLAY Clooney’s wife in the Lifetime Made For TV Based On A True Story Movie (TM) “Liz & Dick: The Clooney Years.”

      • Charlie says:

I find both women stunning, but yeah, Anne is slightly prettier.

      • bettyrose says:

        ..

    • OriginalTessa says:

I find Anne to be worlds prettier than Amal, so I guess it’s tomato tomato. She’s softer and more delicate to me. Amal is all edges and hard lines.

    • kibbles says:

I think Anne looks prettier than Amal.

    • Sarah says:

Exactly. In her dreams she looks like Amal. I do love her hair growing out though. How it is that my hair doesn’t look like that when I try to grow it out? LOL!

    • Val says:

Yup… Amal is much more refined.

    • Someonestolemyname says:

      Anne is pretty.

I don’t really think they look alike at all.

  3. ell says:

maybe it’s just me, but i don’t really see much resemblance?

it is a bit odd the way she talks about her hubby… but tbf marrying your best friend works wonderfully for some people.

    • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

They both have dark hair, but I don’t see much resemblance, either.

    • Talie says:

“but tbf marrying your best friend works wonderfully for some people.”

That’s what all the blind items say. I guess she was burned by that bf who went to prison.

  4. Charlotte says:

    Batman never marries Catwoman

  5. Kiddo says:

I don’t see the resemblance, but she handled the question with class.

  6. Belle Epoch says:

“I hope that one day I become half the woman she is, she’s so accomplished and it’s so thrilling to look at someone and say ‘wow you really are making the world a better place’.”

No, she’s not. Just because she bears a passing resemblance to Anne with an e, Amal is not making the world a better place.

    • Cecada says:

True…. But think about this: whenever Amal is in the room with these sleazy Hollywood types, she might as well be some kind of savior. In that sordid company, I mean. And I’m INCLUDING her husband.

      • Tinsel says:

When did lawyers become an ideal? Many are wonderful for sure, but many in the public sphere, like Amal, are egomaniacs.

      • Someonestolemyname says:

Amal defended one of Gadaffi’s son’s and one of his men who blew up an airplane killing hundreds of people.

George’s PR Team is picking out the better aspects of her role in cases but she has some real disgusting, low life’s she has defended.

    • Carny says:

Yes, even Anne has bought into Clooney’s PR bullshit. I really wish someone would write a good tell-all about Clooney – exposing his PR machine.

      I have a title for it …

George Clooney – The Invention Of A Movie Star.

      • perplexed says:

I can’t blame her for falling for it. If I didn’t read anything here, I wouldn’t really know who Amal defends as a lawyer.

I was thinking nonetheless that “Wow, George’s PR is really good!”

      • Someonestolemyname says:

I think Anne is just being nice and classy.

  7. teatimeiscoming says:

Uh… the onlt thing these two have in common, looks-wise, is they’re both skinny brunettes. There is about as much resemblance between Amal Clooney and AnnE Hathaway as there is between me and Sandra Bullock…. which is to mean, next to none.

    • Cecada says:

Me and Jennifer Lawrence bear the same type of “resemblence” too (we are both blonde and like Doritos)… Hey I like this game…

      • teatimeiscoming says:

Haha, then in that case, I too resemble Jennifer Lawrence. All women who like spray tans and red lipstick look like Christina Aguilara; all women who have tattoos look like La Jolie; all men who have blonde hair look like Chris Hemsworth… lol, this game is weirdly entertaining.

  8. Tinsel says:

Is “fascinated” another word for bewildered?

  9. GoodNamesAllTaken says:

I think she’s SO much prettier with her hair growing out.

  10. Loopy says:

Well George married Amal because she is smart and classy right, not because of her looks, so it wouldn’t matter if Anne was her twin.

  11. Luca76 says:

I see the resemblance but it’s slight I love her outfit omfg love

  12. Calcifer says:

I do think Anne resembles Amal Clooney, they both have doe eyes (I believe that’s what you call them in English), strong eyebrows and not much in the way of cheekbones. And yes, I like them both, I think there is a sweetness to both of their faces. But that may also be because they resemble my sweet younger sister 🙂

  13. Ginger says:

Love Anne’s hair these days too. I’ve always thought she had such great hair so I was a little surprised when she shaved it off. I also like her outfit here. Sorry, I like all of it. Anyway, she looks nothing like Amal. And I don’t think it’s the be all, end all to marry George Clooney. It does sound like Anne married her BFF but there’s nothing wrong with that. Sometimes you need that in a marriage when the “torrid lover” thing wears out.

    • Jayna says:

She shaved it off for the movie, but I have been very surprised she kept it short for so long. It didn’t do anything for me. I love her thick dark hair a little longer like now or longer, because it frames and flatters her features and skin.

      • Veruca Salt says:

I think she also had to keep it short for Interstellar so that might be why it seems she’s had short hair for quite some time

  14. Carrie says:

They don’t look anything alike…..if anything Amal is better looking.

  15. David says:

    What’s wrong with her jeans?

  16. scout says:

Anne H is naturally beautiful, nothing like Amal who has multiple surgeries to look like that. I don’t see the resemblance at all though. She should be proud of herself, she is fabulously talented and achieved on her own terms, shouldn’t compare herself to anybody else.
Amal has degrees, an old rich husband, a shallow life and “saving” rich immoral clientele like Gaddafi and Enron (not Enron victims) etc and also refused to accept UN jobs Like Gaza inquiry commission because she was too busy. Only recently she took up the case of Canadian Journalist imprisoned in Egypt, hope she continues to do that in future. Anne has much more than Amal will ever have, IMO.

    • littlestar says:

She’s working on the case of the Canadian journalist jailed in Egypt? I hadn’t heard that yet. Well, good for her.

I think Anne is very pretty and so is Amal. I think it’s the dark hair that might make them look similar.

    • Someonestolemyname says:

      Well said Scout.

    • siri says:

Amal and one of her collegues from her chamber are two of many counsels for Fahmy, she’s not his lawyer, he has an Egyptian lawyer. Many lawyers have been involved in this case, none with success. That’s why this case is now dealt with on government level (via the Canadian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Baird). No, I don’t think she will soon make the world a better place, she’s still too busy posing at some award show. Anne H. is far prettier, but most of all, much more feminine, and softer looking.
I found some interesting article about Amal:
      http://www.delcotimes.com/opinion/20150117/christine-flowers-finding-fault-with-mrs-clooney

  17. BendyWindy says:

Yes, I talk about my husband that way. I am proud of him when he accomplishes things. I see the work and the drive and it’s really cool to watch and be part of, in some small way.

  18. Josefa says:

I see the resemblance and I like that she talks possitively about Amal. I really hated how she was treated months ago. Sure, let’s grab an accomplished and well-educated woman working for the UN and call her a famewh*re, a sl*t and every other word you can think of because she married this Hollywood actor.

Yeah, yeah, we were all fatigued by that damn wedding but the comments about Amal were so, so negative and she had not even given an interview.

I have no idea what Amal’s personality is like, but it upsets me how people diminish her great accomplishments. This is not some dumb cute VS model.

  19. lucy2 says:

There’s some resemblance, in that they both have small faces with large features.
If Anne’s husband is more like her BBF…so what? There are worse things in the world.
I’m glad to hear she’s producing now, and the movie sounds like it could be an interesting little one.

    • Josefa says:

Yeah, everyone has a different relationship. Maybe they are BFFs who have sex with each other. So what? If it works for them, why not?

  20. A.Key says:

I don’t see it. At all.

    • Jayna says:

Check her out from the 4 -minute mark on. I don’t see it in photos, but when she is speaking and animated, I see it lookswise, a resemblance. The first time I saw this months ago, the first thing I noted was she reminded me of Anne Hathaway and that Amal is prettier in person than still photographs.

She speaks from the 4-minute mark to the end.

      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lpavo6HbYAY

  21. SamiHami says:

I don’t see any resemblance, and actually I think Anne is much prettier.

  22. Andrea says:

I personally think Anne is prettier. But Amal is sexier. Anne H. has no sex appeal whatsoever (from my point of view).

  23. miriam says:

What’s wrong with the jeans? They’re dark denim, well fitting and she’s got great legs for them.

    • anon says:

The look cheap and the boots too while the coat and scarf are fashionable.

    • manta says:

They’re OK. I don’t see what’s so atrocious about that the poster “hates” them.
But again, I failed to see what was so wonderful about Lupita Nyong’o’s outfit yesterday, whereas the same poster was in awe before it and liked her skinny jeans. A matter of different taste, that’s all.

  24. curleque says:

If you are interested in having a long, happy marriage, you should marry the person you consider your BFF. That’s who you want on a daily basis as a partner in life, after the “torrid lover” phase fizzles.

  25. Jayna says:

I’ve always loved Anne in movies. She was my favorite for years in the under 30 group. The camera loves her, like in the Jane Austen role, Becoming Jane. I was such a fan of hers that I went to this movie opening night. It didn’t hurt that I was a James McAvoy fan also.

And One Day wasn’t that great of a movie, but I loved her quirkiness in it and the chickflickness of it all, and she made me cry. I watched it twice. LOL

  26. anon says:

I think they look alike. Anne is Jewish, right? Their ethnicities come from the same region. May be there is something there.

  27. Penelope says:

    Both beautiful women.

Just curious: What’s wrong with Anne’s jeans–are they too skinny or something?

    • Luce says:

That’s what I kept thinking — why are the jeans an issue? I thought they looked nice with her oversized coat and scarf. I actually scrolled down expecting another picture that showed something hideous about them.

Add me also to the list who thinks Anne is prettier, and ironically, a lot more authentic. Anne comes across as desperate and geeky sometimes because that is what she is then (eg. the Oscar campaign, the Oscar hosting, the Oscar speech — anything to do with the Oscars). Amal, Clooney, and their PR put her out there as some sort of world leader, but if she were that concerned with her career and accomplishments, she wouldn’t be globetrotting around on Clooney’s yacht with Crawford and Gerber and famewhoring out her wedding.

Anne seems to be very much in love with her husband. Being bffs and lovers aren’t mutually exclusive, and I feel excited to support my husband, too, when he becomes involved in new things. I think it’s just her way of expressing herself that makes it come across as geeky. Geeky, but authentically geeky.

  28. Dari says:

When is Amal sexy? When she’s turning up her nose thinking she’s better than all concerned; or when she’s turning up her nose when he tells her to stop being so cold? I’ve never seen anyone turn a black dress into a zero. Anne is prettier than her and should not compare herself to her. I think a year from now she will regret it.

  29. Nikki says:

They may look somewhat similar, but Amal’s vibe is of elegant reserve, and Anne’s still a bit eager to please. It’s like a greyhound and a lab. But Anne is warmer than Amal, and she gets more true elegance each year. I like Anne better.

  30. A mascarada says:

    She’s prettier than Amal.
Loved everything she’s wearing. Specially the coat.

  31. DottieDot says:

Why would Anne Hathaway ever want George Clooney? Pffft!

  32. lisa2 says:

When I saw “what’s wrong with her jeans”..

I thought they were talking about the outside seams. they are turned away from the side..

    But I LOVE her coat.

  33. Dinah says:

Amal is pretty and interesting, but I’ve heard she’s extremely hairy. She likely has wax-downs on a regular basis. Still has a bright, sunny smile. If George is an alcoholic, he’ll promise her heaven while dragging her through hell. Alcoholics are addicts who are basically the same weak, co-dependent people who will drag you down with them. Fame and money have nothing to do with it. Living with an alc is hellish for anyone. Their lives are forever spinning out of control until and unless they get the help they desperately need from professionals.

  34. Katie says:

Well someone’s thinking highly of themselves.
