Tom Hiddleston will scare the bejesus out of you before you see ‘FSOG’

hiddles1

Hiddles Dump! There are several items of news about Tom Hiddleston, so why not wait for a Friday and then just do a big Hiddles post? That was my thought. This ^^ is the first still from High Rise, where Tommy plays Dr. Laing. The doctor wears nice suits and likes mirrors. Sure.

Hiddles also celebrated his 34th birthday earlier this week and all of the Dragonflies went overboard wishing him a happy birthday. So he tweeted this:

Considering he’s been so quiet on Twitter for months and months, the fact that we’ve gotten four tweets in the span of a week has been nothing short of miraculous. I hope he comes back to Twitter big time. We miss you, Tommy!

And finally, word is that the first trailer for Guillermo del Toro’s Crimson Peak has debuted in front of Fifty Shades of Grey. They were saying the trailer wouldn’t be released until next Tuesday, but versions of it exist online right now. I watched a budget, jacked up copy of the trailer a few minutes ago and it scared the bejesus out of me. I’m not in for this one, you guys. I hate really scary haunted house movies. But at least we know a little bit more of the plot now – Jessica Chastain and Tom Hiddleston play brother and sister. Mia Wasikowska is being seduced/terrorized. Charlie Hunnam is trying to take Mia away from it all. It’s sort of like “What if Jane Eyre was set in a crazy haunted house?”

I’ll try to update with a better trailer if it gets released. Update: Here’s the trailer!!

I’m just here for Charlie Hunnam.

    • xpreson says:

      Ditto!!!

    • Fritanga says:

I like that Hunnam is playing British again. He’s much better in his true metier. He was not a good American.

This films seems to have elements of Rebecca, Jane Eyre and definitely Portrait of a Lady, all jumbled in with Del Toro’s usual creepy violent horror. I respect the homages, but this is not for me.

    • Katie says:

      I’m just here for Tom.

    • Diana says:

YES. Charlie Hunnam >>>>>>>> Tom Hiddleston. Except maybe for that one half-second when Tom Hiddleston was doing his straddly, sexy moves in the bedroom.

      • maria says:

“straddly sexy moves” 😀 I don’t usually get Hiddles but that half-second won me over. But nah. Still would prefer Hunnam to do some straddly sexy moves. and then me.*lol*

  2. scout says:

I LOVE LOVE scary movies, none of them have managed to scare me so far and I have watched many but SAW series of movies made me cringe a little. Bring it on Crimson Peak. I ready for you, specially for Charlie Hunman.

    • AG-UK says:

Have you seen Hellraiser? I too love horror and they don’t make them like they use to.

    • Joy says:

The Babadook creeped me out pretty good.

    • kennedy says:

Hunnam is giving me all sorts of feels in the trailer. His sad puppy dog eyes and how he’s longing for Mia’s character in the ballroom scene – gah. So hot. This man does a number on me. And pair him with Jessica Chastain and I am in my acting crush heaven!

I want Hunnam and Chastain on Watch What Happens Live playing Plead the 5th with Andy Cohen. Make it happen, television gods!

  3. mimif says:

The only way you could have got me to see FSOG was if Hunnam was in it. He’s so hot it’s stupid.

    • Ann says:

I’m glad he doesn’t have anything to do with that crap that promotes abuse as a kinky relationship.
He has great projects coming up.

  4. Bea says:

So much hotness to savour, too little time to put my hand down my pants..

  5. **sighs** says:

This is the first good news I’ve had since my friend informed she was dragging me to see FSOG. Yay!

  6. nikki says:

YES!! I hope 2015 is the year of Hiddleston! Guy worked his very cute ass off in 2014.

    • Lilacflowers says:

Which is why he had to keep adjusting his tux at the BAFTAs. Still doesn’t have all the weight back yet but getting there

      • 'P'enny says:

that’s your fault, you’re mean’t to be feeding your husband up!

      • MtnRunner says:

P’enny, the roasted potatoes and pudding he’s being fed from Lilac is offset by the caloric burn of running with me and engaging in other *natural* acts in the wilderness. His suits may be loose for awhile.

      • Lilacflowers says:

@’p’enny, ahem, he was away on location for three months. He’s recovering but it takes time and I’m finding that when he goes out on loan, well, some are putting their own interests ahead of Thomas’s nutritional needs. He is carbo-loading today, in anticipation of some vigorous in-door activity during our impending blizzard as we plan to be house-bound for the duration until the staff shovels us out Monday. He is not available for loans, runs, or anything else this weekend. Cillian, however, has nothing to do.

      • **sighs** says:

I’m taking you up on the Cillian offer. I just finished Peaky Blinders. Umph. Good lord what a hot man.

      • MtnRunner says:

I can wait until Monday. The huz is home this weekend. Besides, Tom couldn’t handle seven straight days; Monday thru Friday is enough to wear him slap out. I’m just too much woman for one man.

      • Lilacflowers says:

Excuse me, but this is a “holiday weekend”. Monday, the holiday, is part of the weekend.

James, Ewan, Harry, and Fassy are also available

      • 'P'enny says:

Lilacflowers – no excuse!!! i insist on a divorce so he can marry me, NOW!

        🙂

In the meantime, since someone has greedily trapped Cillian i am join to run off with Ewan. I assume Ewan McGregor??

      • MtnRunner says:

Disregarding the fact that you’re a greedy wench for insisting that you need two husbands (Capn Sexy should be enough), I take The Mac (that’s James, right?) or Ewan since nothin’ beats a full-blooded Scot in my eyes. Not even Halfbreed Hiddleston, unless perhaps he dons a sexy brogue and wears a kilt properly.

Carbo loading this weekend is a good plan as Tom’s got a big workout on Wednesday — it’ll be 60’s and sunny so I’m running him up Pikes Peak for our first 14er of the year. Please keep him carb-loaded through the weekend with taters and beer, so I’m not draggin’ his ass up the mountain. He’s got a fragile ego, y’know.

      • Lilacflowers says:

        @MtnRunner, my husbands need me.

@ ‘P’enny, Ewan is yours, Mark is bringing him to you now.

@Abby J, Jonny Lee went off with a shovel to clear fire hydrants; then he’s heading over to your place to cozy up through the blizzard.

      • Isadora says:

Fassy! <3 ugh.. but he went to make that awful Steve Jobs movie.
-.- So I'll probably wait for my round of Hiddles.

  7. Lilacflowers says:

Not a fan of scary movies but will see this because the visuals have been incredible so far. And by “visual”, I mean the set design, costumes, and Tom’s cheekbones.

Also, I’m fine with a tweet only once every four months if it is going to be things like the tongue-twister challenge in the blue sweater of sex

    • Abby_J says:

I just can’t. I love Tommy dearly, but I just can’t do horror movies, even for his evil beauty. Y’all will have to tell me how it is.

Oh that tongue twister and blue sweater……

  8. InvaderTak says:

Thank you Kaiser! Thankyouthankyouthankyou! Happy Friday to us all!
That High Rise pic is great.

  9. lizzie says:

i cannot wait to see crimson peak. the crap trailer was still awesome. love the cover of red right hand. the more charlie hunnam the better…imho

  10. Miss Jupitero says:

I wish I weren’t watching g this on a tiny crappy samsung. This is going to suit me perfectly. Jane Eyre in a haunted house? Yum. Bluebeard overtones, touches of Angela Carter…. count me in.

    • 'P'enny says:

isn’t Jane Eyre is a haunted house story – or am I missing the point somewhere.?

      • Miss Jupitero says:

Real human being in the attic, not a ghost. I don’t see it as a Gothic horror myself, though it plays with the readers expectations.

      • j.eyre says:

*ahem* A real B!TCH in the attic, Miss Jupitero.

And if I could shuffle Mr. R. out of here for a round of squash every once in a while, she would be a ghost all right – the crazy, old bat.

      • Miss Jupitero says:

Someone needs to read Wide Sargasso Sea! 🙂 Poor Bertha. She just needed to get out for some squash herself…..

      • 'P'enny says:

Wide Sargasso Sea is excellent, loved it. I also have the BBC adaptation with Rebecca Hall and Rafe Spall. Very passionate and well acted.

  11. KT says:

October! I can’t wait until October!

  12. MtnRunner says:

I said something similar on the prior Hiddles post, but I’m not thrilled to see CP associated with FSOG in any way. The glamorizing of emotional and sexual abuse of women shouldn’t be financially supported, tolerated or treated as mere entertainment in this age of empowerment of women. Real life women in Anastasia’s position end up in women’s shelters or buried in the ground. A number of psychiatrists have identified Christian’s behavior as a textbook case of abuse, with his stalking, controlling, belittling and raping (yes, RAPING) her. The difference is, in this twisted scenario what terrorizes her at first, becomes thrilling and exciting in the end. It’s sick and it will mess with the heads of many women that think it’s just innocent mommy porn or BDSM. It’s disrespects the millions of women that have suffered under this kind of physical and sexual abuse.

Whether you consider yourself a feminist or not, if we believe that women should be treated with dignity and respect, we shouldn’t support FSOG and the ideas propagated in it. Domestic abuse should be shown to be as horrible as it actually is, not that it can have a happy ending when SHE finally comes around to the way HE thinks things should be. I wish CP wasn’t buying ads for it and I ask that posters interested in seeing it would consider giving the same money to a woman’s shelter instead.

    • GingerCrunch says:

Thanks, MtnRunner! Now I can feel justified in my smugness in never having picked up any of these books.

    • Allegra says:

I find another reason why they show the CP’s trailer on FSOG:
      – FSOG is a Universal Studios’s film
      – Crimson Peak is Universal + Legendary

    • M.A.F. says:

I said as much after I watch a TV reporter from Australia ripping the movie a new one. The fact that it is based on Twilight, which too was about Bella being emotionally and physically abused, and it keeps getting g hyped just makes me shake my head. I really do want to see CP but I won’t drop money just to see a trailer.

    • 'P'enny says:

Crimson Peak isn’t going to be no Mills and Boon – I have a feeling hiddles is going to get himself in some feminism hot water. But, I suppose he has the excuse it is going to be set in times when this kind of behaviour was acceptable [wrongly, I may add] and its a creepy film.

      • M.A.F. says:

Why would he get into some feminism problem?

      • Crocuta says:

I think most people can tell the difference between a sexist actor and a sexist character. Unless the movie deals with Mia’s character wrongly (I fear the possibility that Charlie’s gonna come to the rescue), but nobody would blame Hiddleston for that.

      • MtnRunner says:

What would I do without wikipedia… I had no idea what Mills and Boon was.

    • icerose says:

@MteRunner I agree I was not happy with the connection but it did allow for maximum publicity which may have been [part of the logic. I have never read FSOG because the writing I have seen was just cringe worthy and the thought of all theses women aspiring to a an abusive relationship was beyond my feminist comprehension even if I do understand some of the sexuality kink underlying BDSM.
The kinky relationships in CP may have elements of abusive but I suspect it will be something which is the reversal of the relationship seen in FSOG and will focus on the underlying horror as opposed to the rom com undertones.
I just saw the first gif of Sharpe kissing his way down some ones body and FSOG is swept from existence hope it works
      https://www.tumblr.com/tagged/tom-hiddleston

      • MtnRunner says:

Icerose, I’m pretty sure that someone was Mia and I’m looking forward to seeing what happens after… (better be hawt, Tommy!)

You made my point above. I think it’s irresponsible for artists to portray abuse in any form as anything but destructive to relationships. Otherwise, their ideas do have real consequences in real lives as it feeds into dysfunctional thinking. It shouldn’t be the fuel for someone’s fantasy, but cause them to shudder and see it for the horror that it is. I’m expecting CP to portray abuse as damaging; if not, I’ll take ’em to task here too.

      • ck says:

I’m on the wait and see. I heard they changed the script, so I’m kinda optimistic. The one I saw had some sex stuff that really made me uncomfortable but could totally just be me being a baby.

    • Isadora says:

Well…being borderline or actually abusive towards women is probably the modus operandi for 90% of bodice rippers, right? Of course being set in Victorian or medieval times “helps” justify that but in the end FSOG is a bad mixture of Twilight and those bodice rippers that have been around for many decades. I think the fact that in reality the heros would often be rather a case for Criminal Minds than a romantic interest should be highlighted for all of them not just FSOG. However I also read something lately about FSOG and the fans that had me thinking… In condemning these stories in a way you also condemn people who read it. I’m not sure that’s right (even though FSoG is really horribly written.. ugh..). I don’t know, some women even have rape fantasies, and even though I can’t ever understand that who am I to tell them what they are allowed to get off to. Even if it’s a rich stalking psycho. The most important thing however is to emphazise that it’s fictional and should never be confused with real life.

      • MtnRunner says:

The problem Isadora, is that some don’t separate fiction from reality. I’m not a psychologist to be able to identify why some women “like” books like FSOG, but I have no issue pointing out that it glamorizes behavior that should be reprehensible. I’m not talking specifically of BDSM, I’m talking about the way Christian preys on Anastasia and brings a vulnerable woman under his control. To portray it as a romantic film is doing a disservice to society as a whole and should be called out for what it is. I don’t want my son and daughter (who are not of age yet) to mistake infatuation for romance, or obsession for love. Our world is built on stories and each disseminates it’s own point of view. It’s not harmless entertainment as the ideas to have influence.

      • Isadora says:

I totally understand where you’re coming from and I don’t have a problem with pointing out that Christian Grey would be a disaster in real life. However the reality/fiction thing is something that’s could apply to a LOT of literature and art, so people need to learn to differ anyway. FSOG is just so very badly written, so it’s maybe harder to see it as literature, but there are books where the woman falls in love with a cannibal serial killer (Hannibal), which was even too much for the films so they changed the story. Or TV shows that where serial killers are the heros (Dexter). And even one of the very first stories about BDSM (which partially coined the term), which was written by someone who was into that, the novella “Venus in Furs” is not exactly a great example because (SPOILER) the female dom treats her sub so badly that in the end he is “cured” from his inclination.

      • MtnRunner says:

“… the female dom treats her sub so badly that in the end he is “cured” from his inclination.”

And therein lies the problem. Fiction like that feeds into the notion that an abuser can be “cured” by his one true love, when reality doesn’t line up with that. Hence why those who work with victims of domestic violence are concerned about the messages this kind of fiction gives. I’m just pointing it out here because the FSOG is expected to do very well this weekend, the same criticism applies in many other cases across the board.

  13. Sara says:

I’m from England and I was shocked when I found out Hunnam is British. Never seen any of his work or heard his name here.

Anyway as fan of Tom I can’t wait for this. Maybe, this is the first horror movie I am not going to be closing my eyes through out the film.

  14. Stacie says:

    Happy Valentine’s Day to me!!

  15. GingerCrunch says:

So EXCITED for this! Tommy, Del Toro, Gothic Horror in October!?!?! Perfection!

  16. Lindy79 says:

    Dammit, it’s been removed!!

    • MtnRunner says:

Lindy, huh? The YouTube link Kaiser posted still works. It’s the full trailer, not the partial one that was posted on tumblr.

I just checked the tumblr link (from the last TH thread) and it still works too.

      • Allegra says:

It is not working for me too.
Has to do with the country that i live. So I just have to wait the Hd version on next Tuesday.

    • et alors says:

@Lindy79, the link still works for me. Try it again.

    • Allegra says:

      @Lindy79:

Go to Tom’s last thread. I posted a link there.

    • Lindy79 says:

Thanks guys, its region blocked on You Tube so the Tumblr links were much appreciated!!! 🙂

  17. MtnRunner says:

Hiddles is our Friday Morning Man, of course D’flies deserve a post!

That movie looks scary as hell and I want to see more of that sex scene with Tom and Mia. And I like his black hair in this one. Yes, Sir Tom is lookin’ fine in his Victorian garb.

October can’t come soon enough — but I’ll watch it during the day, when the sun is shining bright with something fun to do afterwards so I can recover and get a good night’s sleep.

  18. Dani says:

The trailer was in FSOG when I saw it last night. Looks great.

  19. Madly says:

Not gonna lie, the incest part is icky.

  20. Dancinnancy says:

Link down for copyright by Universal. Darn.

    MOAR HIDDLESTON!!

  21. Tom Hiddleston sex scenes. Can I purchase my advance tickets NOW? I’m a sucker for cheekbones and fancy accents.

  22. Ava says:

TH’s back in the bed scene. Oh boy…..swoon

  23. Cecilia says:

I am truly a fan of Tom Hiddleston’s work but did not and won’t see Only Lovers Left because I saw a trailer where he and Tilda Swinton were sucking on blood popsicles (well, assume they were a prop made to look like blood popsicles, at least, I hope so) and I actually started dry heaving at the sight. And now that it sounds like Crimson Peak will be super scary I will probably give it a pass too (was hoping it would be more like Pan’s Labyrinth “scary” but this sounds horror movie scary, not for me).

Now, High Rise, I will definitely see. Read the book and am super-curious to see how they’ll turn it into a movie. And the Hank Williams I will see also. And any and future Shakespeare that he may choose to do – I’m there.

  24. 'P'enny says:

    SPOILERRRRS!

I am really looking forward to seeing this film and I’d like people not to reveal too much! I am already waiting in anticipation of watching Hiddles painting the walls with crimson paint with an added mountain mural, called peak. I have already read too much about Hunnam’s paint brushing technique already and worst of all, Jessica C is assisting in sanding down doors in Victorian garb and Mia is preparing the tool belt.

  25. jammypants says:

Based on the makeup stains on his suit, he hugs people to the right.

  26. Miss Jupitero says:

Awwww the link is down! Any other place to see it?

  27. Miss Jupitero says:

Where else can one view the trailer? Kaiser’s link is down.

  28. koko says:

Well that looks exactly like how I expected. Creepy, dark, deadly and sexy…only thing missing was “his” voice on the trailer. What is it about that dark hair that makes me shiver.

    • Lilacflowers says:

I’m hoping the voice appears on the full length trailer. It has such power that I’m surprised they didn’t use it

      • koko says:

Ask and we will receive @Lilacflowers.
        “Will you be mine?”
How sexy is that line, from that man.

  29. et alors says:

No one has posted the HD trailer yet?

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-8NTNc7myeE

  30. icerose says:

Tom has tweeted official version and I am beyond expectation
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-8NTNc7myeE&feature=youtu.be

    • 'P'enny says:

      YES!!!

CHECK OUT JULIE WALTERS REPLY! BLESS

      I love Julie W.

      😀

    • M.A.F. says:

      I love it.

    • MtnRunner says:

Scott Mendelson just wrote that CP falls squarely into the “heterosexual women and gay men to who would love the have prurient thoughts about Tom Hiddleston” category.

      Ain’t THAT the truth.

    • icerose says:

      they all love our boy

    • pixie-stix says:

The production looks spectacular. I don’t usually do horror (The Haunting and The Innocents freak me out). But this is a different ball game, spooky and erotic. The melancholy look Tom gives @ :40, oy. And @ :58 will be a gif forevermore. Might need to sneak my hip flask into the theater, a bracer will be on the cards.

      • MtnRunner says:

        The production does look amazing.

I’m hoping that :58 was the PG take. The one we see on the big screen should have nudity (and the rest of the sexy rumpus).

        😉

      • pixie-stix says:

I think you’re right, MtnRunner – I recall feedback after a screening that indicated we’d be in for a treat. *gleefully mixes a batch of PervyToms to celebrate*

  31. allons-y alonso says:

    CP looks gooooooddd

  32. Darya says:

Holy hell, the trailer scared me to death and turned me on! I’m glad the casting worked out the way it did, can’t imagine anyone else in those roles. Is it October yet?

  33. jinni says:

Just saw the trailer and it wasn’t really scary at all. The look of the movie sort of reminded be of Tim Burton film. This trailer has once again made me aware of how much I hate too much cgi in a movie. The fake ghost weren’t scary and the music or the singe’rs voice didn’t really fit the tone the movie trailer for me. I guess I was expecting a more Gothic horror feel, maybe something like The Others or The Woman In Black.

    • 'P'enny says:

      seriously? the creepy fingers?

oh well no pleasing some –> Hellraiser that way.

      • jinni says:

Just re-watched it and what I have seen so far just wasn’t scary. And Mia wig is irking my spirit, why do all of these movies always seem skimp on the weave/wig budget?

I guess I thought it would look more like Prefect Drug from NIN video or something more ominous.

      • icerose says:

They did not skimp on budget as the design was one of the chief concepts. Del Toro was very specific about the design fro clothing to the architecture of the “living house”. The detail is incredible. Going for the obvious was not what it was about.
The Women in Black was pretty predictable horror film as far as entertainment goes whilst this is much more a bout visual concept, underlying images and complex relationships.. I cannot see the comparison.

      • MtnRunner says:

icerose, I hope del Toro’s attention to production gets him some love at awards season. While this is not the genre I usually get excited about, that trailer tells me I’m not just going to enjoy Twisted Tom, but the cinematography, set design, score and costumes too.

    • Josa says:

It isn’t straightly a horror movie intended to scare only. Quoted from one of Del Toro’s interview “However, even though del Toro constructed ‘an entire Victorian mansion three stories high, with working elevators, working bathrooms, rooms, a full library,’ the director insists that “Crimson Peak” is not a haunted house movie. Rather, this is gothic romance with a touch of horror that only del Toro could dream up: tapping both sides of his personality — the beautiful and the brutal.”

  34. Ginger says:

OOOOHHHH. Jane Eyre in a crazy haunted house with Tommy? I’m so down!

    • Exactly. I looooove me some horror movies. But then, if they were to just sit me in a room and play that brief clip from the trailer of hiim in the bedroom looking as if he was about to go visit her “southern hemisphere”, I would happily watch that over and over too, and just skip the ghosts.

  35. Kate says:

YES to Sex with Sir Thomas (Sharpe). Not a fan of horror films but I am all over this movie.

  36. Camil says:

Apparently, Adam takes revenge against Ava LOL

    • Lilacflowers says:

      Bravo!

    • MtnRunner says:

She certainly had it coming for drinking Ian.

    • TotallyBiased says:

^THIS^ is my favourite observation on the trailer, Camil!
And I agree, MtnRunner, she certainly did!

    • 'P'enny says:

      Haha – so true

plus Ava touched his record collection, you don’t go near the vinyl without permission

    • MtnRunner says:

And she broke his vintage 1905 Gibson guitar… She is evil and must be destroyed!

      • Lilacflowers says:

And she drank Ian and did whatever in Paris 87 years earlier.

      • jammypants says:

I actually felt a pang of loss when you see what happened to the Gibson. In fact when he had to leave everything behind, I was weirdly upset.

      • TotallyBiased says:

jammy–not weird at all! I was pretty upset as well. I guess after hundreds of years one has to develop a certain detachment from possessions–but she didn’t exactly give up her books, now did she? I always harbored this hope that they would eventually go back to Detroit and his beautiful electronics.

      • MtnRunner says:

Jammy, I did too. I’m a musician and instruments are like babies. Seeing them destroyed and having to be trashed is heartbreaking.

      • icerose says:

books are easier to replace than an instrument especially when it is on that really suits your needs and style of playing.
I remember being shattered when I actually put my boot through my favourite acoustic guitar. It is not like you can just find another as good and the memories seep into the wood and your playing.

      • Isadora says:

Yes, I was upset too. That was probably the only moment in this film when I felt ill feelings towards Eve. Poor Adam.

  37. A.Key says:

    Eh…
I like Hiddleston, but after seeing the trailer I’ve a feeling Cumberbatch would have indeed been a better choice for the role.

    • jammypants says:

I’m pretty sure no one would think that if he never got casted in the first place. Just sayin =/

    • MtnRunner says:

Not me. I think Tom is the perfect combo of sexy and creepy and won’t overplay the character, as Ben is prone to do.

    • icerose says:

NAW Benny would come over as stiff as a board and lacking the charm for seduction. Tom will bring an increased dimension to Sharpe’s suffering and he will not come across as an anti- social genius but Tom will be more a tormented charming anti hero.
Agree about Benny overplaying the character as well-al the villainous parts would be over enunciated.

      • jammypants says:

I’m glad you pointed that out. It worked for Sherlock because he was not a huge star before then. So that role was everyone’s first real impression of him. The stiffness worked then…but then you start to notice it…role after role after role and wonder if he has any range. It’s so weird how stiff he is yet he can sometimes go overboard. I find his Turing really similar to Sherlock, except with a distracting speech pattern. I do think he is good, but has limited range.

    • Lilacflowers says:

Well, had that other person remained in the role, I would make no plans to see it unless local critics I trust hailed it as a masterpiece.

    • MtnRunner says:

Same here. Del Toro can thank Tom that he’ll be selling at least one more ticket thanks to his fortuitous casting of Lord Dragonfly.

    • Isadora says:

I’m not sure if I would have seen CP without Tom. I’m usually not into horror films but I like Mia Wasikowska. Maybe I would have waited for a DVD or something.

But we can’t say that GDT will sell additional tickets because of Tom, just to a different audience. Ben would have sold tickets to his fans too and they will not see this movie now. In the end it hardly matters because fact is that Ben left and Tom is now Sir Thomas Sharpe, so everyone is stuck with him anyway – no matter if you are thrilled or annoyed by that. I just hope it will be a huge success and will proof that our Tommy boy can make box office $$.

  38. 'P'enny says:

hides in here – crazy wedding stuff goin’ on 🙁

    • MtnRunner says:

Yes, stay here and have a Fizzy Hiddles, dear.

      *hands glass to P’enny*

    • Darya says:

@Lilacflowers was kind enough to find me in the other room to tell me they were no longer serving cocktails over there – the guests were getting a bit sloppy apparently – so I’ve discreetly wandered in here. Anyone have something in the bourbon family they wish to share?

I’m sort of avoiding Tumblr too – everyone is gif-ing and posting the scenes from the CP trailer into more and more elaborate scenarios. I don’t want to become bored or de-sensitized to it all this early on so I’m doing my best Scarlet O’Hara impression and trying not to think about it.

      • MtnRunner says:

Agree, Darya. I saw the Torrilla gifs and stills and said “enough!”. I want to keep my excitement for this movie heightened by not viewing them or the trailer too much.

I’m already looking forward to the next trailer tho… and the one for High Rise.

As far as drinks, I keep Jameson in the cabinet if you’d like something that will warm you up.

      • pixie-stix says:

I’m doing same…it’s a long haul until October. Any word on when the High Rise trailer will appear? Might be we’ll see Tom @ Cannes. @MtnRunner, mind if I have a wee dram? I saw a recipe for Guinness cupcakes with Jameson ganache, sounds lovely (might need a couple drams, one for the cakes a couple for me). 😉

      • MtnRunner says:

Pixie, just a wee dram? *hands bottle to pixie*

I’ve had those Guinness cupcakes and they are perfect with any Tommy-inspired beverage.

      • Lilacflowers says:

@Darya, the guests were not getting sloppy; they were getting outright violent and Mark decreed that they were on their own. No need for sharing bottles here, waiters are circulating about and will bring you any concoction you desire. Colin has made sure we are well-stocked for Tom threads.

    • Darya says:

Holy crap – Tom is at the wedding! Check Torrilla.

    • TotallyBiased says:

I’m afraid to even peek into any thread with the word Cumberbatch on it…think I’ll just put my glass out for whatever you’re serving, MtnRunner, and warm my feet on this cold day by the heat of the Crimson Peak trailer (if any major urban area suffers a power outage this weekend, they should just hook their grid up to Tumblr! )

      • icerose says:

Torrila has Tom in a morning suit-it s a sight to see.

      • MtnRunner says:

*grabs bottle back from pixie and passes to TB*

Ladies, I propose a toast to having made it through six months of Otter/Comet speculation (Is she the sgf? Will she walk the RC? Is she preggers? Will he marry her?) to be treated to one morning-suited Lord Dragonfly now that the results are in. It’s been a super month for drought-ed D’flies with 4 TH appearances, 3 CB posts and 1 spooky, sexy trailer to feast on. With the end of Oscar campaigning next week, we can turn ourselves away from Cumbers clusterf*** of bad decisions and look forward to more appearances of our Tom. Let’s raise a glass to celebrate, shall we?

      • TotallyBiased says:

        Hear, Hear!
Now–where is Colin with that tray of dark chocolate dipped strawberries in champagne? Because at some point this actually became a Valentine’s Day worth celebrating (some point after the first look at Wedding!Tom, LOL!)

      • pixie-stix says:

*Clink* @MtnRunner, I ordered a case of the stuff, think this is a recipe worth repeating (and we’re a thirsty lot). Made plenty of Guinness cupcakes with Jameson ganache to share with all to enjoy. @TotallyBiased, if you see Colin can you point him in my direction? After yesterday’s chocolate (homemade rocky road!), a choc-strawb sounds positively healthy.

      • icerose says:

Jussit back with the Jamison or whatever tickles your throat and imagine him dancing the evening out .As the night moves on the jacket, then the waistcoat dissaopear, the buttons of the shirt open and his wee red hairs take on new life.

  39. Allegra says:

    Holy crXp!
Tom was invited to BC wedding. Torrilla got the pics.
    He looks so hot!

    • 'P'enny says:

      Arrrrrrrrrgh 😃😃😃😃😃😃🍷 tom ❤️

    • pixie-stix says:

Very elegant…pretty blue lining on the jacket. I like when his hair isn’t working high angles, he looks great.

    • MtnRunner says:

Yep, Dapper TomTom was the best thing going for that wedding.

      • Allegra says:

        I agree with you.
Tom brought joy and lightness to the wedding.
Well, I can’t say the same about BC. It seems that he is suffering from a terrible toothache. I’m starting to feel sorry for his bride…
Let’s hope everything works out for the sake of their child.

    • jammypants says:

      Fanning myself right now.

  40. TotallyBiased says:

I’ll just be recovering for the rest of 2015. Or my natural life. Even Sir Thomas Sharpe has NOTHING on Wedding!Tom. I may never breathe again.
Thank you, Allegra and Darya, for the notification!
    Thank You!

    • Allegra says:

      You’re welcome!

    • Darya says:

You’re welcome, darling @TeeBee. Wedding Tom really is the best Valentine any girl could wish for.

    • icerose says:

I think Tom will out shine Benny at his own wedding and make up for the Evening Standard fiasco.

      • Darya says:

        Good, serves him right.

      • MtnRunner says:

If Tom lowered himself to Ben’s level of PR shenanigans he would have brought a woman to the wedding. To up the ante, it would have been JA.

Fortunately, our boy knows how to keep his private life under wraps so only his morning suit and smile upstaged Ben on his big day.

    • Josa says:

Wedding! Tom trumps everything, and it’s not even his wedding. He’s so gorgeous.

  41. Anony Miss says:

Absolutely no one in the Hiddleston fandom refers to themselves as Dragonflies. That phrase appears no where amongst any of the top fan sites on Tumblr or Twitter or Facebook. And while the photoshoot of Tom that included the dragonfly jacket was lovely, it’s hardly ranked as fangirls top favorite photoshoot.

    • Darya says:

Truthfully, I would hope that no one who is a fan of Hiddleston (or any actor or performer actually) calls themselves anything – except a fan. Personally, I think naming a fandom is ridiculous, bordering on infantile, and I’ve never seen any serious actor embrace the concept without just a smidge of embarrassment about it. For some reason it only seems to happen to British actors (and teen pop stars), so not sure what that is about.

The term Dragonfly is a solely a creation of Celebitchy and I hope here is where it stays. I rather like it – it seems to be used here with the full sense of how ridiculous it is. if you are going to give a fandom a name it should at least be the most laughable and tongue in cheek name possible.

That said – long live the Dragonflies!

    • Isadora says:

What Darya said. It’s a tongue-in-cheek term by Celebitchy and not to be taken too seriously. 😉

    • MtnRunner says:

Kaiser coined the name Dragonflies for the Hiddles fans here due to the fuss made about the jacket and they embraced it as a way of distinguishing themselves from the Hiddlestoners. Back in those days, some of the regulars were taking a piss out of him for his try-hardness, so their willingness to mock their crushes set them apart in the fandom.

      http://www.celebitchy.com/288632/tom_hiddlestons_flaunt_pictorial_with_extra_dragonflies_too_cutesy_or_just_sexy/

I for one, hope the term stays here and doesn’t spread. I like a place where we can celebrate the things we love about our favorite actors and still call them out when necessary. I have no problem balancing both. No fawning!!

    • Lilacflowers says:

I really don’t care what Tumblr or Twitter people do and they will never define me. Thank you.

  42. Lilacflowers says:

Coriolanus just won Best Revival at the What’s on Stage Awards and Tom did the acceptance speech. WHY ARE THERE NO PICTURES OR VIDEO???

    • Lilacflowers says:

There are now a few pictures up on the What’s On Stage website of him and Josie Rourke. Tennant won Best Actor – never underestimate the fans of David Tennant in getting out the popular vote.

      • 'P'enny says:

also think don’t underestimate the Dr Who fans, Billie Piper picked up best actress and she expectantly to failed to show. something went pair-shaped there.

I like Billie, she can act too.

    • Allegra says:

Yes, I know. Last year, David T’ s fan beat Tom and BC’s fan twice.
      This year, once.

  43. Allegra says:

Crap, Tom lost to David T,but Coriolanus won the Best Play Revival.
There are lovely pics with Tom and Josie Rourke in the press room.

    • TotallyBiased says:

Tennant fans worked HARD! Pleased for Best Play Revival, though.

      • Allegra says:

They really work hard, but last year things were kind quiet for Tom and for us, his fans.
It seemed that we were all hibernating and waiting for spring to arrive.
This year, with the premiere of 3 maybe 4 movies, things will begin to fall into place.
And I pleased that at least Tom and crew got one.

    • Allegra says:

A fan was there and she took amazing pics:

      • Allegra says:

Yes, lots of pics, videos and interviews.
And here are some funny tweets:

        From @TimeOutTheatre :
Tom Hiddlestone has turned up to collect the award! The entire room has lost its shit!

        @FionaHiddles
@… for your infos, he thanked Hadley for “punching me so hard and kissing me so sweetly”. Oh yes.

        ‏From @WhatsOnStage :
-That means one thing and one thing only: TOM HIDDLESTON’S ON THE STAGE.
        – Ooh, Tom Hiddleston’s a charmer, isn’t he? “I share this with all the actors and crew.”
        – “Love you Tom,” shouts Mel into the wings…

      • pixie-stix says:

Those are great tweets – you always bring good stuff, thanks Allegra. 🙂 The video of Tom and Josie is fun…”A big whoop, wooo!”

    • Josa says:

There’re photos from Getty. He looks a bit tired, must be all the celebrations in the past 2 days in the island. Just look up pics at Getty Images cos I don’t know if I can link.

      • Lilacflowers says:

Josa, he’s been in full celebration mode for the past 10 days. He had the BAFTA Gala, the BAFTA awards and after-parties, his own birthday, that wedding, which involved some travel to and fro, and the What’s on Stage Awards all in just over a week.

      • Josa says:

        @Lilacflowers. You’re Right. 🙂

MIA for more than a year and then since Bafta Gala, it’s been non-stop celebration for Tom. I think he’s taking Feb as the month he’s going all out to have fun, and then probably back to MIA in Spring to work on 2 massive projects.

      • Darya says:

I say this with all the love and affection in my Dragonfly heart, but the WOS photos do not do Tom any favors. He looks seriously worse for wear even in the formal portrait, which presumably had a little help in Photoshop/Lightroom.

It’s understandable, it’s been a big week with lots of late nights and adult beverages, but lordy. It looks like the guy needs some Advil, a little hair of the dog, some under eye concealer, and a nap – asap. Still cute though, damn him.

      • Lilacflowers says:

@Darya, he did attend a friend’s wedding just yesterday and either had to stay on the Isle of Wight in a hotel bed, not his own, and travel three hours home today OR made the three hour journey late last night. Either way, I doubt he got much sleep between the wedding and the awards ceremony.

      • Darya says:

@lilac – I think you’re right, I wasn’t sure how long the trip back to London was, hopefully there was a train or he wasn’t the one doing the driving. Dude looks like he got no sleep at all.

  44. 'P'enny says:

there are some really beaut pictures of David Tennant and Tom Hiddleston together. [At last] David is now also a member of the Marvel Universe 🙂 as a baddy. Seems like Marvel are scooping up all my favourite actors. I’ve been following David for a very long time and i am happy he was won this award, it’s been a fair spread amongst the theatre awards. It gets rather dull when one actor sweeps the board. David deserves the win, he’s been treading the boards for a while now. 🙂

If Marvel put David, Bendy and Tom in one scene…. [mind you i am so over Bendy]

    • Lilacflowers says:

‘p’enny, it should be interesting if Marvel does any crossovers with the Netflix series. They announced recently that Lady Sif will be appearing on Agents of SHIELD again this spring, but this time with amnesia. So, Loki must have done something to her memory. Marvel is scooping up everybody who acts.

I saw Tennant’s Richard II in a broadcast. He was good but I thought Tom’s Coriolanus was stronger. But I agree, nice to see them both at the podium with awards in their hands.

    • MtnRunner says:

OK so, I saw Tennant’s Much Ado and thought he was the best Benedick I’ve seen. He rounds out my trifecta of Scots with McGregor and McAvoy. Besides Dr. Who and Broadchurch (which I’m watching now), what Tennant TV shows/films should I add to my must watch list?

Tom has been quite the party boy the past 10 days. I hope he gets some recovery from it all before work ramps back up again. Anyone know when Avengers will premier?

      • Darya says:

May 1 here in the states, I think. Maybe earlier in other countries, not sure. Knowing the Tomster is in AoU has moved it up in my priority list. I’ll see it opening weekend rather than waiting a few weeks as I was planning to.

Which version of Broadchurch are you watching – the US or UK version? Tennant is the only reason I watched either one. And he was the one and only reason I watched the few Dr. Who episodes I did. Well, him and a wee crush I had on John Barrowman for about 15 minutes a few years ago. God Almighty, that was before I even knew Tom existed, and it wasn’t that long ago.

      • MtnRunner says:

Darya, not sure which version. Whichever one is on Netflix. It’s not as suspenseful as The Fall (holy crap, that was a addicting creepfest!), but I’m enjoying it. Now that I’ve seen Tennant’s comedic side, I find his serious one less engaging, I have to admit.

      • pixie-stix says:

@Darya, David T. bare-chested wearing leather pants is hot and funny in Fright Night (2011). He needs to wear leather pants more often. Tom needs to be bare-chested in leather pants too, just sayin.

      • Josa says:

Broadchurch’s US version is called Gracepoint. I watched Gracepoint, liked it, like David Tennant. I want to watch Broadchurch too but I read it’s exactly like Gracepoint. Anyone watched both versions and think it’s worth it to watch both?

      • Darya says:

That’s right @Josa, I forgot they changed the name when it was made here. I watched Broadchurch first, then was curious about Gracepoint. Truth be told, I was only there to watch Tennant, so I’ve forgotten the fine details of the differences, but the storyline, major plot points and characters are mostly the same. Tennant with an American accent is not quite the same, but he’s still very good. I preferred his US detective partner- she was the wife in Breaking Bad, I’ve forgotten her name – she was very compelling, better than the original I thought.

  45. icerose says:

    What’s on Stage Awards.
Coriolanus beers revival, best lighting and supporting actor (Gatiss)
As expected Tennant won best actor for Richard 11 as he has won several fan awards in which Ben and Tom were runners up.
It is kind of nice that Mark Strong, Tom and Tennant won one award across each across the awards this year. All three put in great performances.

  46. Darya says:

I didn’t want to thread-jack the BC thread with more Tom musings, but it’s wedding related. I finally tracked down the photo agency that had the Tom photos from Torrilla – my thought was there were other photos of guests leaving the hotel that didn’t interest her (or us) that might be fun to see. Funny thing – he was the only one in the photo set.

I’m pretty sure the photos were taken outside the hotel that hosted the dinner Friday night (it’s mentioned in a newspaper article and the hotel retweeted the article). I sniggered when someone suggested Tom was sent out as a decoy while Ben or others snuck out the back door, but now I’m wondering if they weren’t right. Maybe everyone was staying elsewhere (it’s a smallish property) and there was no else to take photos of, and I doubt we’ll ever know the entire story, but I rather like the idea of Tom taking one for the team.

    • icerose says:

it had crossed my mind that he was sent out to draw the paps in whilst Ben and the comet made their ever so private arrival but guess we will never really know.
Does it really mater any way-we got some hot amazing pictures as a reward.

      • Darya says:

@icerose, exactly right. Ultimately, I don’t care why those photos happened, I’m just glad they did.

  47. jammypants says:

He’s been looking better since he dropped the orange makeup artist.

  48. TotallyBiased says:

There’s a new post (re WOSAwards, but she just might have the wedding pic up, too!) I couldn’t let this sit at 199 comments.
