Sarah Palin borrowed a dress, fur purse from Bristol for ‘SNL’ event: tacky?

wenn22190829

Well, I’m just thankful that we finally have some new photos of Sarah Palin. I had been recycling old photos for all of our Palin posts over the past few months, so it’s nice to get some new pics. I have to say, Palin is looking healthier here. Sarah Palin came out last night for a “lamestream media event,” otherwise known at NBC’s big shindig for Saturday Night Live’s 40th anniversary. How does Palin justify this appearance with her anti-liberal-media stance?

Us Weekly points out that Sarah Palin actually borrowed this dress from Bristol Palin – you can see the side-by-side here. Bristol wore this dress to the White House Correspondents’ dinner in 2011, and Bristol let her mama borrow it. Sarah Palin said as much to Us Weekly: “I’m wearing all Bristol! Everything I have, I borrowed from Bristol. Her [bag], her dress. It’s something left over from Dancing With the Stars, but her shoes, she made me give her a deposit before I wore her shoes! She was like, ‘Mom, these are like red soles and you don’t mess with them unless you’re on the red carpet, otherwise you pay for them!'” So that bag is Bristol’s too? Some people said it was a bearskin purse?! It looks like real fur, but I’m not sure if it’s bearskin. We know Sarah Palin doesn’t give a crap about animal rights or anti-fur crusades, so… obviously.

Here’s the bit Sarah Palin did with Jerry Seinfeld. I don’t blame you at all if you want to skip ahead to the relevant portion – Palin shows up around the 6:15 minute mark. This whole skit was WAY too long. Palin asks Seinfeld how much money Lorne Michaels would give her to run for president in 2016 with Donald Trump as her running mate (for laughs). Seinfeld also cracked a joke about Brian Williams. Good.

Those shoes need to be shot from a helicopter.

  2. samanthalous says:

I love me some Sarah cause her and Lisa Ann and twins!! But honestly I like her in a suit or something less club like, this really doesn’t suit her.

    • Gea says:

She can criticized for many things she have said and have done. Personally, I think she was put out there purposely by man party to be ridiculed. Yes, we have many damn politicians and many are not exposed as she was and is. After all, she took fair shat to appear maybe in her opinion ok. So, maybe she wore her daughter dress not suited for her age like some will say and her styling was wrong. But, this looks woman great for age and that is the fact.

      • Enui says:

Something nice: she and I are very close in age, and I wish I looked that slim, and my hair wasn’t thinning, so she definitely is doing better in that way than me.

First thought: I despise, loathe, detest and hate those shoes. They make her feet look like hooves. I don’t think anyone looks good in them.

      • mimif says:

Sarah Palin was embarrassing herself as the mayor of Wasyphilis long before she was picked as McCain’s running mate.

  3. Jenns says:

Ah yes. How nice that Sarah Palin took time out from her busy schedule(LOL) to walk a red carpet with the liberal Hollywood elite. She even took a photo with Al Sharpton. And to think this woman accuses Obama of wanting to be a celebrity. This woman wants nothing more than to spend her life in the spotlight.

    • MonicaQ says:

This. I bet that dress is blended fibers too. What kind of god fearing christian is she? /sarcasm

    • PunkyMomma says:

She and Alec Baldwin had arms wrapped around each other on the red carpet. I’m still in shock!

      • Jenjennyjenjenjenn says:

She was shamelessly flirting with Alec during their red carpet interview! Right in front of his wife! It was gross! I did like how Alec pulled Hilaria closer to him after about the 4 time Palin grabbed him. She is ridiculous.

    • lucy2 says:

I know, all those “celebrity” accusations. And she’s the one who has chased every reality show and TV camera she can find since.

      • FLORC says:

Yup. No shocker. She wants fame.
Even during her run for vp a former assistant came out with her desk doodles and notes. They were all about the sum of her name in lights and fame related. Barely anything about politics or current news.

Putting aside this is Palin, that dress is terrible as well and the bag and booties. Tacky and trashy. She’s gross.

  4. Alix says:

    Head-to-toe FAIL!

    • mimif says:

Check out that dueling pistols ring on her index finger. 😂

    • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

I can’t believe her daughter wore that to the White House. How inappropriate. Not to mention ugly.

      • Amy says:

I’m no fan of the Palins, but the White House Correspondents Dinner is not held at the White House. The White House Correspondents host the event at the Washington Hilton.

      • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

Oh, you’re so right. I misread that. I thought it said White House dinner. I was wondering why she was invited to the White House. Lol. Thanks.

    • Josephine says:

This. The dress might be ok on the right person, but certainly not on her. And everything about the styling is wrong. She has a nice figure, but she comes across as a crazy person in this outfit. The shoes and purse are awful, and the jewelry belongs in a rough bar, not on a red carpet. I also don’t get her insistence on the big hair and outdated glasses. The whole thing seems like they found her in the 1980s and threw some clothes on her.

      • Sadezilla says:

The glasses mystify me. They’re so incongruous with the rest of her image. Is that the point of them?

  5. Jaded says:

How deluded she must be to think that outfit could be anything other than ridiculous…..

  6. lirko says:

You nailed it with the header photo…just nailed it.

  7. lucy2 says:

It looks like she ransacked a Forever 21.

  8. neelyo says:

What could have been involved for Sarah to overcome her hatred of the media and attend this event? I suspect a gift suite or killer goodie bag.

  9. Talie says:

It is funny that they sat her next to Taylor Swift.

  10. lassie says:

Is the fact that her face is so obviously lighter than the rest of her skin tone supposed to look ‘young’? She’s looking very middle aged in these photos.

  11. Aussie girl says:

Dang! I was hoping the whole fam bam went and had a punch up in front of their stretch hummer in the parking lot.

  12. Seapharris7 says:

I don’t think the dress looked good on either – pretty baggy, no real shape. And I’m not into fashion, but I always thought black (boots) & brown (purse) don’t match… Like if maybe she had brown boots it would have pulled it together better

  13. mimif says:

Her bag is beaver fur, not bear.

  14. scout says:

Her body looks way better than her head, she should have borrowed Bristol’s new and improved face to wear too. Purse probably made from the animals she shoots down for meat and stores for Winter supply as Alaskans do, saw it on her TV show few years ago. But glad just look at her pics and not hear her talking, makes me throw up.

    • mimif says:

Bristol was a pretty girl before she carved her face up. You could see a hint of her Yup’ik heritage before, now she looks like that Teen Mom train wreck, Farrah Whatever.

  15. Insomniac says:

Just because you can wear your daughter’s clothes doesn’t mean you *should*, Sarah.

  16. bondbabe says:

OH.MY.GAWD!!! Open-toed shin guards (and hose!! hose!!) with a beaded trash bag!! Could she have picked an ensemble that would make her look any stumpier? Or hillbilly-goin-out-on-the-town looking?

  17. tmbg says:

It terrifies me that this woman was actually a vice presidential candidate.

Her hair is straight from 1993.

  18. Beckysuz says:

    No. Just no

  19. vava says:

Words fail me. But not enough to not say that this dress looks tacky on her AND her daughter. The shoes and bag are a complete fail.

I couldn’t really stand to watch much of that show, but I did enjoy the rerun clip of Tina Fey impersonating Palin. LOL.

  20. unmadebed says:

Her mom hairstyle and glasses do not go with that outfit or accessories. She looks so silly. That video, though, was awesome, and her part was funny–good sport.

  21. L says:

Ooh, can we talk about my favorite picture from this event? Taylor Swift making faces while sitting next to Palin. What would those two even talk about?!

  22. TW says:

I understand dressing how you feel rather than what’s expected of you, but those shoes and sleeves shouldn’t be worn by anyone, ever, at any age. You can still be arty, fun, youngish, and do it with class and style. She’s a pretty woman, shouldn’t be difficult.

  23. Tippy says:

While serving his suspension, Brian Williams will undergo therapy for the condition known as Mythomania.

  24. Lama Bean says:

red soles….lol. maybe red bottoms? and just bc they are CL doesn’t make it right.

  25. Bridget says:

She clearly watched Sons of Anarchy for style inspiration

  26. Miran says:

What in gods name is that purse, and I’m really confused by whatever that is on her wrist. It look like those Hot Topic sweatbands my wannabe rockstar ex husband used to wear. I threw them out while he was gone on deployment and told him the neighbors dog chewed them up.

  27. Dr.Funkenstein says:

A better question might be what the hell she was doing there to begin with. Oh, that’s right, she’s not bright enough to realize that those folks aren’t making fun of her because they LIKE her.

  28. jc126 says:

I love it – a person who endlessly complains about “liberal Hollywood” all excited to attend an event honoring same. She’s so full of it.

  29. YummyMummy says:

    Her orange Palm is hilarious!!!!

  30. Iheartgossip says:

She is an idiot. Talk about 5 pounds of bondo make-up on her face. And, she seemed drunk.

  31. roxy750 says:

I’m a conservative, not in the world she or some others live in though, I like to let people live how they want and don’t care what they choose, I’m conservative more on budget issues with how our govt spends–she claims to be conservative, republican, tea party whatever–just bc I like to think conservatively on fiscal issues with our country and keep our freedom and defend our constitution that is about all I have in common with this woman–this woman is absurd. Complete idiot and I cannot stand her fame whore ways and she makes all women look bad–honestly she makes me sick and makes me even more sick that news channels and political parties and people of higher up positions give this woman any air time.

  32. anne_000 says:

She looks like a 51 year old hooker.

Is she just trying to give Tina Fey more material to work with?

  33. Veronica says:

A LOT of those skits ran for way too long. The Californicans one is another that was fantastic until it just. didn’t. stop.

I find the whole look tacky, with the black shoe being too heavy with the cream dress. It’s exactly what you’d expect from her though.

  34. Dirty Martini says:

Dress isn’t that bad–face it, shes a good looking woman, and even ifyou don’t like her style, she has an attractive face and figure. I agree that the shoes should be banished. Just awful.

I tend toward fiscal conservatism and am moderate on the social side. I would not vote for her on any national level. SHe was a popular enough Alaskan governor before she was elevated beyond her capacity……but saying you are a popular enough governor of the nation’s largest state is nothing to sneeze at. Give her credit for that. Tearing her down in all things and in all ways because you don’t like her politics isn’t necessary.

Having said all that….she doesn’t have to “justify” her participation in a so called liberal media show. Whatever else you want to say about her, it must be acknowledged that she has always been playful with SNL’s jabs at her, she appeared several years ago with Tina Fey, and so she showed up here again. She apparently has a healthy enough sense of humor about herself. That’s more than a lot of people …politicians and internet pundit warriors included.

  35. yogapants says:

Loved the SNL special but was disappointed to see Sarah Palin there. Given her hatred for media, leftist Hollywood, and pretty much everyone who disagrees with her, I don’t think she should have been invited, period.

I’m not sure about her having a sense of humor about herself. I’m inclined to think she appeared on SNL in the past and now only because it gives her time in the spotlight. JMO.

  36. Mythra sun says:

When did Gemma Morrow return from the dead ?

  37. mollyrogers says:

Bethenny Frankel’s pride at squeezing into her daughter’s pj set comes to mind … Though BF wanted to look ‘skinny’, whereas SP wants to look young.

  38. Jana says:

I’m happy to see Palin dressed as the bat-shit crazy bitch that she has always been. This country truly dodged a bullet 7 years ago.

  39. JenniferJustice says:

Is she ever not tacky? Her choice of attire says it all. She wants to stay in the spotlight and she can’t carry it off as an informed intelligent politician, so “MILF” it is. She’s becoming dangerously close to the likes of Kris Jenner. Doesn’t she have PR to steer her on a smarter track? The Baldwin flirtation was just embarrassing. I think she might be on drugs or threw a few back before the show.

  40. Donna says:

Sarah is wearing Hooters girl hose.

  41. redfox819 says:

So, I recognize that this comment may stir up a lot more debate but: I am from Alaska and I think her purse is sealskin. That may sound shocking but sealskin products (mittens, hats, purses) are made by many Alaska Natives after they’ve hunted seals for subsistence. Most truly use the animals as a food source and then create clothing or accessories with the hide either to use for themselves or sell. It may be that she thought to represent Alaska in this way but why bring it SNL, I have no idea.

  42. LaurieH says:

I like the dress, but not the rest of the outfit. And regardless of what one thinks of her politics – she REALLY is a very pretty woman. I think she was a good sport to show up given how much mileage SNL has gotten out of her over the years (obviously why she was invited). And I think it was nice that she was able to stand there with Alec Baldwin – the political opposite of her – and both of them show civility and make jokes. Clearly from the video, Hilaria (I keep wanting to call her Hilarious) was not amused. Then again, Hilaria is a yoga-posing tool, so I rather enjoyed the annoyed look on her face.
