Beyonce and Jay-Z decided to walk the carpet of last night’s Met Gala like last year’s post-Met beatdown never happened. Note that they did walk the carpet WITH Solange (Solange arrived separately and did not pose at all with Jay and Bey). I guess that just goes to show you… Beyonce and Jay are fine. One year later, they worked through whatever it was and they’re still strong. And I guess props to them for doing the Met Gala carpet like it was no biggie.
Beyonce was basically naked in this Givenchy gown. If you can tell me how this is Chinese-inspired, I would love for you to try. I think Bey just wanted to look naked and blonde. CB said she looked like Britney Spears in the “Toxic” music video. Truth. I would also say that there’s a heavy dose of Madonna in there, especially with the rooster-tail blonde pony. Bey and Jay were also some of the last people to arrive – wanting a big entrance, I guess, and hoping to soak up the last of the red carpet. As for my general thoughts on Bey’s dress… I don’t even think we should call this a dress. It’s just bejeweled netting. Also: this is like the thinnest Beyonce has ever been, right? Has she been on a crazy diet for six months to wear this dress?
Solange Knowles wore Giles Deacon. This isn’t Chinese-themed either! And it’s a disaster. I know a lot of you enjoy Solange’s offbeat style, but this doesn’t work. At all.

Seriously. I hate both Kim and B’s dresses, but of the two I think Kim’s is actually the better-executed look. The design of Kim’s sequins (or whatever you want to call them) is more intricate, artistic and kinda pretty (even though the dress itself is overdone and try-hard). The jewels on Beyoncé’s “dress” just look like someone threw some random crap over her lady bits to make sure they were covered. No artistry or inspiration. Lazy and cheap.

@atrain – Totally agree. She is acting VERY Mariah these days. It makes her seem like she might be kind of crazy. I think there comes a point when celebrities get too famous that their minds start to slip and I feel like Beyonce has been at this point for a while now. The pictures she posted on Instagram, especially the one with her showing off the back of her dress, were odd! And her poses at the Met Gala were terrible as well.

I just disagree that age should be emphasized. A gaudy mess of a dress shouldn’t be tolerated because it clings to a younger body. Covering up shouldn’t be mandatory because of age. Emma Stone would never wear Beyonce’s tacky dress but if she did it would be excused? Patriarchy demands that young, nubile flesh be worshipped but aging women need to face the fact that they are mother figures. It makes me so mad. It wasn’t until my late 20″s that I found the courage to live my best life on my own terms. As a woman I finally realized I could author my own experience. Being young, others applauded me and encouraged my new courage/freedom. Was it all a joke? When I’m 50 will society pull my card and make me give it all back? Do I put on a housecoat, pour my husband his coffee and smh at young people and their music? Or do I get to wear backless dresses, flip off construction workers and argue politics with my father-in-law for a few more years?

She’s Beyonce, she and her team should know better than that, and do better than that. They famously keep track of everything in her life, so why let this happen.

Solange I like. It is not a wearable dress it’s a fashion piece which is what the event is. It had great creative design elements. Which as Someone in fashion I like. I don’t think thy should produce them as they would never sell but it gave off that Chinese fan vibe without being obvious, was edgy and didn’t feel a need to have her naked for notice. Plus that sucker looks hand painted. Love it.

I really think Bey missed the boat this year. I would have like to see her dressed in something smooth and silky and more colorful. I think she could have pulled off this theme perfectly but ended up looking like she and jLo and KrapTrash were all heading to the Porn awards show.

I was wondering the same, if they sent joke invitations with fake themes to people they don’t like. Katy Perry and Madonna received Graffiti Chic. Ivanka got Yacht Club Princess (but I think she looks amazing), and the trifecta of horror must have been given Bring Your Gynecologist.

Beyonce obviously wanted everyone talking about her and not Kim K.. I think that the dress could’ve been interesting, but the way it is, it’s definitely exhibitionist. She has a gorgeous body and could’ve looked stunning. Instead, she looks like my garden after I’ve pulled out the weeds at the beginning of spring.

As someone who struggles with social anxiety and is too shy to order pizza or whatever, I’m just so endlessly fascinated by (and a liiiiiitle bit jealous of) people… practically NAKED… in front of hundreds of photographers screaming their name…. What that must be like?
Am I the only one who like it and thinks she look sexy and beautiful? I KNOW she was stunt queening like hell and didn’t stuck to the theme. I know she basically did this to steal the thunder and in very rare feat she might have beaten Riri(not in style but in attention seeking). But I still think she looked good and yeah I think she’s been on a diet since last year’s drama just to wear this dress and have everyone talking. I think she succeeded.
No you’re not the only one. I enjoyed her on the red carpet. She owned her look in a big way, and maybe I’m just too vindictive towards Kim, who is a Beyonce wannabe, or Kanye is obsessed with Kim being that. So Kim all solemn with her serious look and Beyonce-inspired gown and out comes Beyonce at the last minute strutting that dress big time with zest and enjoying every minute of it. It gave me a chuckle thinking of that compared to Kim’s super serious posing face she and Kanye do and that probably they were all mad Bey stole Kimmie’s thunder as far as the see-through look going even further but with a far better ass. LL.

I am not a fan of naked dresses, and wasn’t particularly overjoyed over her showing her bits to the world, but Rihanna owned it, especially by going full throttle with is and providing shock value, the same way Cher brought the shock value in her Bob Mackie way back in the day. Because Rih’s look is so recent in memory, the fact that Jlo, Bey and Kim alll tried it only several months later makes it look desperate and copy-cat-ish and none of them went far enough to top Rihanna’s look.

Okay, I get it! Bey has a fabulous body, which I personally feel way too familiar with. IMHO the hands down winner of the night was Fan Bingbing, and she couldn’t have been more covered up. It’s not always about skin, but it’s always about fashion.

Beyoncé lost to basically both press rivals last night-Kim Kardashian, whose dress, while naked but not unexpected from get, looked like a much better version of hers with some excellent beadwork (the geometric beadwork not being commented on is a crime, I think it actually might have been thematic) and RIHANNA, Jay Z’s alleged mistress, and possible subject of last year’s Solange beat down. Rihanna won the Met Gala period this year and she’s not an accessory to a man like Kim K and Bey.
