Rob Kardashian may have offered one of his kidneys to save Lamar Odom

These photos sure bring back some memories, right? Back in the day — or at least for a few days — Rob Kardashian, Scott Disick, Lamar Odom, and Kris Humphries were pretty tight … by necessity. It ain’t easy to be a male member of the Kardashian Klan, and the guys are quickly discarded or fall out of their own accord. Rob was particularly devastated when Lamar and Khloe became estranged, for Rob considered Lamar to be his best friend. I think Rob was even more upset than Khloe, if that makes sense. Rob took the loss of his buddy hard, and that was part of his spiral into depression and overeating. They stayed pals, but it’s not like they socialized much because the Kardashians wouldn’t have approved.

In light of Lamar’s ongoing health struggles following his overdose at a Nevada brothel, his kidneys are reportedly failing, and the Mail says Rob has offered to donate a kidney to Lamar to keep him alive. Is this report true?

Rob Kardashian has offered his kidney to brother-in-law and close friend Lamar Odom should the seriously ill former NBA star need a transplant, Daily Mail Online has learned.

Khloe Kardashian’s brother stepped up with the generous offer after it emerged Odom may need a new kidney as his medical treatment continues in Los Angeles.

It’s unclear whether Odom and Rob are a compatible match for a kidney transplant, but Rob is willing to undergo medical tests to find out, sources reveal.

One source told Daily Mail Online: ‘Rob is willing to do whatever it takes to help Lamar recover. If that means donating a kidney then so be it, Rob has a big heart and he’s willing to step up to help his friend.

[From The Daily Mail]

Well, perhaps Rob offered, but that’s only the first step. Rob would also have to be a compatible match with Lamar. Then Lamar would have to accept Rob’s kidney, which is a major decision. In my experience, those in need of kidneys feel an enormous amount of guilt accepting a kidney from someone they know because that creates a future risk for the donor too (the only-having-one-kidney thing can be rough). Anyway, this story might not even be true, but good on Rob if he did offer to help in such a huge way.

I read a blind item yesterday that this would be Kris’s next planned storyline for the show. I know Rob and Lamar were close so chances are his intentions are pure but throw she devil Kris into the mix and who knows what will happen.

    • Luca76 says:

Seriously blind items especially those based on an existing gossip story like this are such BS. Anyone can conjecture what the Kardashians will do to exploit this situation based on their past actions but I’m rolling my eyes big time at anyone who gives credence to sites like CDAN, and Blind Gossip. You’re being duped if you think they have insider information.

      • Tate says:

@Luca nope, don’t think I have insider information. I just know Kris is a low life capable of anything.

    • Mia V. says:

She will buy a kidney is she has to just to get a storyline.

    • C says:

Yeah, I read on blind gossip too. This family is sick.

  2. Loopy says:

That top picture just shows you how rough these guys have had it when they fell out with the Klan.

  3. dr mantis toboggan says:

Are we sure PMK isn’t harvesting his organs with her bare claws?

  4. The Original G says:

Does this story really need more info reported “that might not even be true”?

The fictionalization of this this getting out of hand. Are we really that hungry to insert ourselves in made-up aspects of this drama?

    • Jen43 says:

Great point. I guess it is fun to speculate, but if it isnt true, then irresponsible. The drama surrounding these people is unbearable.

      • The Original G says:

I’m not a K fan, but I’m really starting to question the investment developing in hating them and making up “storylines” on their behalf to hate them for.

      • Josephine says:

The Original G – I think that’s always been the K game. If you can’t get people to love you, you can just as much or more mileage out of hating them. I think they court the hate stories because it keeps them in the gossip rags. In other words, I’m pretty sure that they are the ones pumping out the hate stories. Just look at how the dress – always designed to make everyone gag.

      • The Original G says:

I agree Josephine. It’s like professional wrestling. I’m just getting a bit disturbed about how seriously we’re getting into what has always been a fake narrative?

  5. Jennyjenjenjenjenn says:

If this was true you better believe PMK would be pushing it everywhere.

    • antipodean says:

If you believe this to be true, would you be interested in this nearly new bridge I have for sale?
Whatever the case, you can be sure that, very sadly, Rob’s tissue will not be a match for Lamar’s, what a shame, how sad, never mind.

  6. GoodNamesAllTaken says:

There’s a handful of people I’d give a kidney to without a second thought. If Lamar is one of those to Rob, the divorce must have been really hard for him. I think Rob is sort of a lost soul and I feel sorry for him.

    • Nicolette says:

Completely agree. How could someone not become lost being surrounded by that coven of witches? And I’m sure Kim shooting her mouth off about him publicly didn’t help matters. If this story is true I wouldn’t be surprised. None of his sisters would make such a selfless gesture that’s for sure. The recovery time after surgery would infringe upon their selfies and daily pap strolls.

    • Lama Bean says:

GNAT ITA. I think Rob might be a decent guy who is just lost (perhaps in a pile of his unsold socks). I feel like he doesn’t want to be in the family pimping business but also doesn’t know what to do otherwise.

  7. jwoolman says:

Would Rob even be a suitable candidate as a donor before testing? Doesn’t he have his own problems with drugs and other things? Of course, Rob might not realize that, so he still might have made the offer.

I really wish the Kardashians would just stop seeing everything as a storyline for their stupid show. All these reality shows are pretty awful, but the K Klan seems to go way beyond the rest on manipulating things. Or is it just that I’m more familiar with their wicked ways?

    • swack says:

I think we’re all more familiar with KUWTK than the other reality shows. Seems like there are 10 Kardashian stories for every story concerning the Real Housewives. If you believe the stories, then yes Rob has issues with drugs. Also, if he is so depressed is he even in the proper mind to even make a decision like that?

  8. Betsy says:

The guy in the black satin suit looks like Agent Michael Scarn, for those who watched the Office closely.

  9. EN says:

I normally don’t go to Kardashian threads at all, don’t want to feed the monster.
But one thing I wanted to say here – how out of touch with reality a guy has to be. How not appreciative of what he had.
He had it all. And then he just goes and destroys his body? Something he and the people around him will have to deal with for the rest of his life.
    And he has kids too.

    • mimif says:

That’s addiction for you. Doesn’t matter who you are or what you have, it will destroy your life if left untreated.

    • AlmondJoy says:

      “He had it all.”

Are you talking about money, riches and fame? Do you realize that even people who seemingly “have it all” still have demons from their pasts? They still deal with depression and addiction, just like regular people. Many times people turn to drugs because they don’t know how to cope with their problems. It’s awful but it’s real. Addiction can be a problem for all people, whether they’re rich or not.

      • AmyB says:

Agreed. Addiction and depression do not discriminate. You can have all the money in the world and still suffer….maybe even longer b/c you have the disposable income to indulge longer than regular folks. Perhaps it just takes them longer to “hit rock bottom”. Addiction will destroy your life, regardless of what that life entails.

  10. AmyB says:

I could be wrong, but since Lamar has an extensive, proven history with drugs/addiction, he would not be eligible to be on a donor list until he has some substantial time sober. Therefore a directed donation is probably his only chance at a new kidney. I have said it before and I will say it again, if this stuff regarding Lamar is televised on their show next year and they DON’T lose fans, I will seriously lose hope in mankind. I can’t for the life of me understand this family’s popularity and they all disgust me in various degrees, but I hate to see anyone lose their life to the pain of addiction. I wish for Lamar recovery and then I hope he has the good sense to permanently separate himself from these vultures. Wish Rob could do the same thing (as he seems to be tormented by them), but it is his family so that is much more unrealistic and problematic. Whole thing is sad regardless.

  11. original kay says:

aw, and there is Khloe on the cover of People this week. Breaking her silence at long last (it’s been at least a week).

If it looks like a duck….

  12. QQ says:

But Lean Marinated Kidneys are gonna work for Lamar tho?!? I mean…

    • BunnyBear says:

Right?!? One of my coworkers donated a kidney to her sister last year. She was already pretty healthy but she still had to do a lot of work in preparation. Like constantly drinking warm water with lemon, morning yoga, Pinterest fitspo kinda stuff.
Rob’s weed and cheeseburger binges aren’t a great start, you know?

  13. NewWester says:

So should we expect stories about how Demon Mother is so worried about her son and his unselfish offer? I can see the In Touch headline: Kris Jenner worried about Rob Kardashian: ” I don’t want to lose my son!”
She is probably more concerned about the ratings for her show not increasing

  14. Liberty says:

Good for Rob if he offered this, truly.

But if it is a made-up story, then I think we know PimpMama is testing the water for the idea she has excitedly percolating on the back burner: Kardashian Kidneys. And perhaps Kim is approving designs for her new game, Kim’s Kidney Kwikmatchparty.

    • mimif says:

I just peed a little at Kardashian Kidneys™.

    • Lucrezia says:

      I know you’re kidding but Kidney-Kwikmatch actually would be a good story-line.

They do kidney donation chains when people are willing to donate to someone specific, but aren’t a match. So if A needs a kidney, and A’s father is willing to donate but isn’t a match, A’s father donates to B … and B’s mother then instead donates to C … and C’s sister donates to A. Donors “save” their intended target, but not directly.

Lots of potential for drama. Lots of diverse people suddenly connected. Large stakes and high risk (since the surgeries aren’t necessarily done in order, someone can theoretically break the chain by backing-out of donation after their loved-one has received a kidney.)

      I’d watch it.

      • WinnieCoopersMom says:

That was an episode of Grey’s a few seasons ago, except there were about 11 people involved. It was dramatic when one person threatened to break the chain, but in the end, everyone got what they needed and it worked out. I kant imagine the K koncept for that.

    • Katydid20 says:

If he truly wanted to give Lamar a kidney, even if he wasn’t eligible he could do one of those domino trades – where he gives one to someone else so a match can give theirs to Lamar. I guess we will see how serious Rob is being, in the next few weeks or months………..

  15. Rob has been pickling his kidneys for some time, so I doubt if they would hold up. I wonder why Kloe hasn’t offered her organs..

    • Arpeggi says:

Considering that ethnicity plays a role in compatibility, and so does gender, I highly doubt that even if they offered it, neither Khloe or Rob are compatible with him, compatibility between non-related people is pretty rare after all. Moreover there are been studies showing that women tend to be attracted to men who’s HLA (a component of our self/non-self recognition machinery of our immune system) is the most different from theirs (something to do with our sense of smell). So if we take this into account, it’s even less likely that they are compatible.

  16. Mrs Odie says:

I see nothing brave or generous about this whatsoever. You know what, Lamar, you can have one of my kidneys! Where’s my Nobel Peace Prize? Fact is, the chances I’d be a tissue match for Lamar Odom are almost zero. About as good as Rob Kardashian’s chances of being a match. So he could yell from the hilltops that he’d do anything for Lammy, but it’s as easy to promise as half of all his doughnut holes.

  17. Ravensdaughter says:

Matches are tricky, although there are several medical studies showing an unexpectedly high rate of compatibility if a spouse donates a kidney. Where’s Khloe?

  18. Ravensdaughter says:

Matches are tricky, although there are several medical studies showing an unexpectedly high rate of compatibility if a spouse donates a kidney. It is true that ethnicity matters too.
    Where’s Khloe?

  19. Mylene - Montreal says:

when u see the picture of scott, lamar and rob together is like sad …..

  20. LAK says:

Sometimes, it’s the thought that counts….if there is any truth to this rumour, I hope Lamar realises that someone in the K Klan truly loved him and not for the ratings and glory potential of him.
