Tom Cruise spends $1 million on Suri’s education

Little Suri Cruise is almost three years old, and her parents are convinced that she’s a tiny genius. Judging solely from photos of Suri, she does have an intelligent face, and she often seems totally over her parents antics. Could it be that Suri is smarter than her parents? Yes!

So Tom Cruise is obsessed with Suri getting the best education possible. She already has a French tutor, a Spanish tutor, and ballet, tap and modern dance lessons. In addition to that, Suri is getting gymnastics lessons and she’s learning soccer. According to a National Enquirer source (story via Showbiz Spy), “Tom wants her to be able to do it better than any other child…Tom and Katie firmly believe Suri is gifted.” The cost of all of these lessons? A cool million dollars.

Tom Cruise takes education seriously — he’s reportedly splashed out a whopping $1 million on classes for his two-year-old daughter Suri.

According to the National Enquirer, Cruise and his wife Katie Homes are keen for the cute tot to have a rounded upbringing, so have decided to spend a fortune on private tuition.

A source reveals, “It doesn’t matter what Suri is doing, Tom wants her to be able to do it better than any other child. All parents think their kids are special, but Tom and Katie firmly believe Suri is gifted.

“She is learning French and Spanish and has a tutor she sees once a week.”

“Suri has shown a real love of dancing, so Tom and Katie are encouraging her as much as possible. She practices ballet, tap and modern dance for hours, nearly every day. She also has private gymnastics lessons and is learning soccer.”

Katie is said to be convinced that socializing with older kids will benefit her daughter’s development.

The source added, “Katie likes to have Victoria and David Beckham’s sons around, since they are older. She thinks Suri will emulate what they do and learn even faster.”

“Piano and violin lessons are on the to-do list. Tom and Katie just have to find time in Suri’s busy schedule!”

From Showbiz Spy

It probably is a good thing for Suri to be around other kids, to learn how to compete and play fair. But Tom and Katie are insane for dishing out that kind of money when Suri isn’t even three years old yet. What about some of cheaper classes at the YWCA? Don’t those kids’ play groups cost next to nothing to join? Wouldn’t tutors be better when Suri is just a little bit older?

Considering the original source for this story is the National Enquirer, it could all be doubtful. But don’t Tom and Katie strike you as the kind of parents who would spent thousands of dollars on Suri’s pre-education?

But the point is, when she’s of age, she’ll have to go to Scientology school instead of regular school and I don’t know what, if anything, she’ll learn.

  2. gg says:

    mmm, jummy peenk flipflop!

The mil is probably just for the $cifitology Nursery School BS and doesn’t even count the dance lessons.

Also? I understand parental doting, but one gets a little weary of hearing parents ALL say how blimmin ‘gifted’ their kid is. If they’re all so gifted, then that raises the bar a little, no? Ergo, they’re ‘normal’.

  3. geronimo says:

If Tom Cruise REALLY wanted the best for Suri, he’d abandon (or pay off) the Co$, cut the Xenu bullshit, and give the kid her only real chance of a normal childhood and increase 100% the likelihood of her having a normal and fulfilled adulthood. Sadly, Suri’s seems to be doomed to a life of empty, pitiful privilege at the hands of a pair of dunces.

  4. waaaahh says:

everyone thinks their kid is gifted

  5. Ellen Smith says:

Any child who chomps on a flip flop is not gifted. This kid is going to rebel like helll when she gets older – they are pushing her to the brink at a tender age.

  6. lilybme says:

a mil to cruise is like us spending a thousand on our kid…so what is the big deal…. he has the coins….he loves his kid…and education is priceless.

  7. Nony says:

Poor kid. Would be a lot better for her development if they got her a load of craft materials and just let her loose at it.

How disappointed will Tommy be if it turns out that she takes after her parents, ie average intelligence at best? Neither of them seem particularly brightly shining lights to me, especially with the cult involvement..

  8. KittyKate says:

I feel so bad for this little girl. No three year old should be trying to learn French, Spanish and English at the same time! And I’m sorry, Modern dance for basically a toddler? That’s BS.
What she needs is to play with kids her own age. That’s something you never see…and she’ll probably never get.

  9. Wif says:

Cuz if she’s spending hours a day in dancing and language lessons, then mommy and daddy have time to shop. But it’s all in her best interests…right?

  10. Wow says:

    *Shrugs*

Their money, their child. They’re not asking us to chip in to help Suri’s education fund.

Suri is a cute little kid, but I wouldn’t be surprised if she rebels in the way some have posted, when she gets older. There’s a funny picture of her coming out of a play-date with one of the Beckham boys, and she has a little princess prissy experession on her face. My first thought upon seeing it was “and so it starts”.

  11. Patrice says:

Ok. Realistically, there is NO WAY that these two could just bring that child down to the local YMCA for a casual day of fun. Although I think Katie and Tom are both a couple of class A nut jobs, there is no doubt in my mind about how much they both love and want what’s best in every way for that little girl. William Mapother’s daughter is looking more and more like him everyday! : )

  12. kiki says:

they are grooming her to take over the Cof$
meanwhile I am digging in my sofa for loose change :/

  13. Nneikha says:

i have a feeling Suri is gonna grow up to become a fine young lady-bright,beatiful,full of life…she’s so cute…

  14. Baby Contest says:

Well… maybe now she’ll stop eating her flip-flops! LOL, but seriously 1 million? Tom spend WAY more on his underground “safe-house” for when the King arrives from outtttterspacccceee… He should spend 10+ Million.

    Your Baby’s Education is Priceless.

  15. Azurea says:

Someone send them a copy of “The Hurried Child” stat.

  16. Pufft says:

True, all parents think their kids are special and gifted. My biggest concern is that the parents are overly excited and are doing too much at once. She is only TWO for crying out loud!

And what about Tom’s other two children? I hardly hear anything about them. Does he still spend time with them, or don’t they gel well with his ‘perfect’ family?

  17. Curly Fry says:

“It doesn’t matter what Suri is doing, Tom wants her to be able to do it better than any other child”

    Wow. No pressure Suri.

I’m sure that when you have your first mental breakdown by 5, that they will spend as much to send you to a great psychiatric hospital.

  18. Codzilla says:

kiki: LOL! I’m right there with you.

  19. luckystar says:

Eh, here’s a shot at normalcy she probably needs — STOP FOLLOWING HER AND TAKING HER PICTURE ALL THE TIME. That would freak me out if I was 3.

  20. Seven says:

Curly Fry : CO$ dont believe in mental hospitals or psychiatric medications. Suri’s breakdown will be treated with barley water and vitamins haha! Anyway.

  21. Shelly Shellz says:

    *Suri…

ANDDD Conner and Isabella were brought up around other children, to be social & live a “normal” life, not constantly thrown in the spotlight…what that kind of life just isn’t good enuff for their natural born kids?? Horrible

  22. Prissa says:

    I agree with lilybme.

  23. Nony says:

Seven: errr, nope. Her mental breakdown would be treated with an ‘introspection rundown’. Basically being locked up, isolated, and no one would talk to her or communicate with her in any way, except for auditing sessions on the lie detector. This situation would last for weeks on end, and it’s NOT pretty. People have died during that ‘procedure’ or have had full psychotic breaks, if they didn’t have them already. Imagine how traumatising it would be if you have a breakdown and you would be locked in a room, with people bringing you food but completely ignoring any attempt to communicate with you.

    Have a look:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Introspection_Rundown

Of course, Tommy boy would probably ensure that Suri got the celebrity version of the Introspection Rundown, not the normal CoS version that includes a dirty room, crappy food and spending quality time with your own excrement!

  24. Mabd says:

Language learning is best done when children are young. They learn it faster and more fluently, and in many non-public schools, kids in preschool and kindergarten routinely learn second languages. 3 is most definitely not too young to be learning more than English.

  25. Curly Fry says:

@ Seven: You’re so right, I forgot that her mental breakdown will mean she has to recharge her thetans or whatever.

Basically her father is creating an atmosphere where not being the best won’t be tolerated. Sounds like a fun childhood. But hey, at least she’ll know a couple of languages!

  26. Hieronymus Grex says:

Whatever happened to letting kids be kids? Suri could seriously benefit from playing in a mud-hole with a stick for few hours- her android parents would too.

  27. nanster says:

Don’t forget that Tommy-boy has learning disabilities and is probably TERRIFIED that Suri will have them, too. This is probably his attempt at early intervention to ensure that his little girl won’t have the same problems that he does.

  28. bittercup says:

Suri is smart. Like a ballplayer from Cuba- she is planning her out. She’ll make a break on the soccer field or dance her way to freedom. I’ll be watching for the coded S.O.S. messages.

  29. naz says:

I think my kid is a genius…she brings home A+ every day and I have not sepent a dime(not even a penny) on her….hope this Suri doesn’t end up in rehap when she is a teenager like kelly ozborne and other celeb kids…Tom’s other doughter is pertty chobby why doesn’t he spend some money on a good nutritionist to work with her??boring news….

  30. Codzilla says:

A pertty chobby doughter? The horror!

  31. Nony says:

by the way, I don’t think that bringing music, dance and different languages into a child’s life at a young age is bad at all, as long as it’s all playful and non-regimental. It’s the ‘she must be the best’ and the study aspect that makes those things unhealthy.

  32. Dirty Martini says:

Everyone in the world thinks their child is the cutest. The smartest. The most gifted.

    But they are wrong.

    Mine is.

  33. Judy says:

His adopted kids had special schooling too. Then got dumped into the COS schools. They have already drank teh coolaide and that is why he wont let Nick see them very often he is afraid because she never was big on COS and actually went back to her own religion full time. Nick has nothing to do with COS.

  34. Ned says:

That is the smartest thing they ever did with their money.

They are doing exactly what caring and responsible parents need to do, if they have the means to do it.

My only issue is with trying to teach 2 languages at the same time- which is not a good idea and will confuse the child.

Other than that- good for them, and it has nothing to do with how intelligent she might be.

  35. Catty says:

How bright can she be? She’s chewing a shoe here. Like she’s a pet puppy.

  36. Nneikha says:

as a child you have a tendency to munch on anything soft that comes around…it’s perfectly natural…that doesn’t mean that the kid won’t grow up to become a bright girl…but yeah…i agree that intelligence depends on one’s own capabilities…she’s gotta learn how to develop herself..(not to become a rotten brat!!)

  37. Fonsie says:

Ah, you perfect Suri. Your way to perfection has been paved in gold and the finest of things. In fact, your place in Heaven is already reserved! We bow before you, Perfect Suri Cruise, and before you Mr. and Mrs. Suri’s crazy scientologistic parents.
A pathetic attempt at parenthood, Mr. and Mrs. Cruise. There is no way Suri can be perfect in every aspect of her young life.

  38. Is the source for the information correct? If so, that’s a heck of a lot of money. However, somehow I’m not really convinced that we are getting perfectly accurate facts.
