Madonna e-mails Malawian paper about adoption; gets cosy with ex Guy Ritchie

The tabloids are reporting this week that Madonna isn’t about to give up her bid to adopt Mercy James and they seem to be right. The 50 year-old pop singer and mother of three e-mailed Malawi’s Nation paper that she still intends to provide a home for the girl after her initial adoption attempt was denied:

“I want to provide Mercy with a home, a loving family environment and the best education and healthcare possible,” she e-mailed Malawi’s Nation newspaper in response to its questions. “And it’s my hope that she, like David, will one day return to Malawi and help the people of their country.”

Madonna, 50, continued: “Though I have been advised that I cannot publicly discuss the pending appeal regarding my desire to adopt Mercy, I do want to say how much I appreciate the level of support that I have received from the people of Malawi and my friends around the world.”

Madonna’s appeal might be successful and she could eventually take Mercy home as expected. It was surprising that she was told “no” for once, and US Weekly reports from a source in the latest print issue that the judge who ruled against Madonna, Esme Chombo, “is very religious and a moralist. She might not be in favor of Madonna’s lifestyle and her seminude stage antics.” Madonna did violate adoption laws in the country and Chombo stated in her ruling that allowing her to adopt without meeting residency requirements would open the floodgates for child trafficking. She may be attempting to reconcile that and is said to be building a home along with a girls’ school in Malawi.

Madonna is single again after her divorce was finalized, but that might not be for long. She’s had at least two romances in the past few months, including a fling with a model young enough to be her grandson. Most recently Madonna was spotted getting cosy with none other than her ex husband, Guy Ritchie. Ritchie issued a statement in support of Madonna following her failed adoption bid but is thought to be privately against another adoption. He must be somewhat supportive in person if this latest news from News of The World is accurate. The exes were seen cuddling at a Kabbalah event.

The pair were all over each other at a bizarre Kabbalah celebration in central London on Wednesday.

Yes, you heard me right. An insider confirmed: “Guy was stroking Madonna’s back and they were cuddling. She looked very sad and Guy seemed to be comforting her. LOURDES and ROCCO were there too. They looked like a family again.”

If this is true, he could have just been hugging her or something. The item is so brief that it’s hard to tell. I don’t see these two reconciling anytime soon, and even if Madonna is open to it I doubt that Ritchie will take the bait. He learned his lesson. At least they’re friendly for the sake of their children amid all this turmoil over the adoption. It’s got to be hard for them.

I hate being so cynical, but knowing Madonna she could be trying to stage a brief reunion with Guy because she thinks it could help her chances of securing the adoption for Mercy. Wouldn’t put it past her at all.

You know, I had the same thought.

I hope it fails. The last thing she needs is another child to warp.

If the judge’s only objective to this old shrew is her residency, not her marital status, her loopy religious or child rearing practices or her widely reported narcissism, then I see the solution as being very simple; Madge go and plant your roided up arse in Malawi for 18 months. I’m sooo sure after the locals get true 1st hand experiences of what this woman is truly like, they’d be lodging more than residency objections.

Don’t do it Guy! Run, run as fast as you can!!

‘You can’t always get what you want…..’

Does she think the word “no” doesn’t apply to her or something? And I think if she DOES try to get around the residency thing, then I hope the judge adds her single status as another reason – plenty of countries refuse to allow singles to adopt.

Whatever her motives, maintaining a good relationship with Guy will benefit Madonna’s public image, plus it’s good for her children’s emotional health.

I thought the Malawi judge made a pretty compelling argument about taking children out of the country. Up till then it never occurred to me that not everybody wants to be an American–probably because all we hear about is how immigrants are risking their lives to get into the country. But not everybody feels this way. Malawi has its own traditions and community and they don’t want to part with their children, no matter how poor or disadvantaged.

Also if the child’s natural father wants custody and is a fit parent, I don’t see how Malawi can put her up for adoption.

I can’t believe some of you are saying “I hope she fails” as if she’s the devil. I’m not a big Madonna fan, but she can provide a good life to someone who may very well die young in an impoverished country! WTF?

did anyone read the recent interview in harper’s with tracy anderson, trainer to M and GOOP?
OMG!!! I k now there have been posts about her,but that interview really lays it out….
This woman was ‘too heavy [20 lbs overweight or something like that]’ to be a professional dancer, even tho’ her mom owned a dance studio growing up. She later used her pro bbal player husband’s connections ot meet with drs. of every kind in her quest to see if every body type, regardless of genetics, could be teeny tiny like a dancer’s. And she talks about putting the body in a state of fear,so that they auxillary muscles are activitated-as her main strategy for work outs.
Does she realize that adrenal rush such as this releases chemicals in that state,as those muscles are supposed to be activited in flight or fight, survival situations?

And these same chemicals, create an acidic condition in the blood and body-which ages the body tremendously!!! that is why stress is such a big ager!
No wonder M and GOOP look so much older and harder under these workout conditions.

AND,Anderson freely talks about her junk food eating, and binging, specifically. The article doesnt call it that, but when they describe it,it’s obvious. It’s also obvious that since she was never able to fulfill her dance goals, she has major body image issues.

She says her only go with Madonna is that she look good in fish nets on stage, and that Madonna will never run again,b/c it bulges her muscles.

SO weird. These women look aged and haggard now, albeit it with the frame of a ballerina.
And we all know that most ballerinas struggle with food issues,or at the very least must work very hard to remain rail thin, and have tiny bones to begin with. [most,if not all professional level dancers].
Why would these two want to be teeny tiny at the level of bone structure? That is not long term body/bone strength, and is certainly NOT a good anti-aging strategy.

I cannot believe how obvious it is that this trainer has parlayed her body image and food issues into a career training the rich and famous. Severely unhealthy training,in my book,as I read about it,anyway. And not just the hard work required, but her approach and ideas that the training are built upon, are NOT healthy. Tangent,I know, but I just read it. Was there a post on celebitchy already on this article? If so,sorry i did not read it.

lrm will you post a link to the interview?

With my body frame, my bones would have to be shaved down…..I hope thats not the next `hot` procedure
