Kesha’s face looks very different: lip injections, chin implant & what else?

Kesha departs on a flight from Los Angeles International Airport

Kesha (Ke$ha) has been pretty quiet for more than a year. In October 2014, she sued Dr. Luke for sexual assault, abuse and more. She went away for treatment, she reconnected with her mom, she focused on getting healthier, mentally and physically. All of which is great. But, as you can see in these photos of Kesha from Wednesday, she also took some time away to get some face work done.

CB and I were trying to figure it out. While it’s a given that Kesha has gotten lip injections – she looks like she asked for The Kylie Jenner Special – there’s something else that’s different right? CB thinks that Kesha got something done with her chin. Perhaps a Bristol Palin-esque chin implant. Here’s a close look at Kesha in September:

And here she is now:

I think there’s a chin implant happening, plus new lips, plus some Botox, probably. Her face looks half-dead. And that’s sad. She was open about her body image struggles previously, but I honestly thought she was doing better. Going in for this kind of completely unnecessary plastic surgery is not a good sign.

Wow, umm if that’s what she wants to do then, OK. Now she looks like everyone else in the biz. If you didn’t put her name up I would not know that it was her.

    • Elisa the I. says:

IMO she looked much better before the interventions. So I only see a sad-face. 🙁

      • aemish says:

The face looks sad but the makeup is a zillion times softer and better. That cheesy 80s pink lipstick and eyeliner doesn’t work on her face at ALL

    • Christo says:

Yup, I think some of the change is due to marginally better make-up, but the structure of her face itself is looking a tad Laura Flynn-Boyle.

    • Samtha says:

I didn’t recognize her. Sad–she was really cute before.

      • bella says:

Am I the only one who thinks she looks lovelier now?
I’m not a proponent of plastic surgery for someone so young, but her entire look is much softer, no?
I also think that she must have lost weight because her face appears thinner, which I think is contributing to how different she looks.

      • Shaz says:

        I agree Bella

  2. The Eternal Side-Eye says:

I know women don’t only get plastic surgery if they have low self-esteem but a lot of celebs clearly do. Which makes it suck even more when they don’t end up looking prettier as a result.

She’s gone through a lot with her sexual assault and stress from Dr. Luke and the studio so I’m sure that’s played a big part in her messing with her face.

To Ke$ha, Kylie, and every other celeb with thin lips, if you weren’t born with it naturally odds are you’ll look a hot mess coveting something that wasn’t meant for you.

    • Babalon says:

She’s being forced to work with her rapist, so I feel like she should get a pass. 🙁

    • Kitten says:

Not everybody was meant to have pouty lips, you know?
There was nothing wrong with her original mouth–her curly-lipped smile gave her face character and made her unique and recognizable. Now she looks like every other chick in LA.
      Sigh.

      • Kasia says:

Exactly. Her face was original. I never liked her music or her stage persona but there was something natural and vulnerable to her. Now she looks generic. It’s just like Iggy Azalea’s transformation last year. Disturbing.

      • The Eternal Side-Eye says:

        Iggy Azalea, Ke$ha, Lady Gaga.

Everyone slowly ends up looking the same. Mask-like and painful.

It sucks to have money and have plastic surgery be so available that you end up slowly nitpicking all your unique qualities into nothingness.

      • I Choose Me says:

Sad and so true. All the individualness is gone.

Looks like she even had her freckles erased.

      • Mateo Diaz says:

All she had done were her lips. Her stylist confirmed it. Everything else is just new makeup. Here is a picture of her AFTER these pics were taken, and you’ll see the only differance on her are her lips… Everything else about her is the same! http://twitter.com/KeshaRoseNews/status/678044209576730625/photo/1 And her lip fillers are temporary anyway

    • Mateo Diaz says:

I just spoke with her stylist/bff on instagram. All she had done were her lips. Everything else is strictly styling and minimal makeup. Her brows and eyelashes are bigger because she goes to regular appointments to get them done at a salon in LA that specializes in them. Her chin is the same, it’s just the angle. She literally looks the same, just with fuller lips. Trust. I’ve been a fan of hers since 2009. Her weight has also been fluctuating, and that can cause a difference in facial apperance. Also, go to her instagram. She posted like 10 selfies with all her freckles in them. She’s already stated how much she loves them.

  3. Melibea says:

    Her nose looks different too

    • QQ says:

Brows, specifically whatever filler they put to lift the right brow’s arch

      • Tiffany :) says:

I agree, the brows are in a new position. I don’t get the chin implant trend. It doesn’t seem to help that many people look better.

      • mimif says:

I think chin implants only look good if a person has a *very* weak chin. In the case of Bristol & Icky, it just makes them look horsey and offsets the balance of their faces.

    • Mateo Diaz says:

And no she did not get her freckles erased 😹😹 she has been posting a lot of selfies on insta with her freckles. Just check it out @iiswhoiis People are so quick to judge.

    • Mateo Diaz says:

Her weight has been fluctuating due to stress from her lawsuit, her stylists have been trying new makeup on her, and the angle is bad. All she had done were her lips. I spoke to her stylists. My god.

  4. MC2 says:

I wouldn’t have recognized her if the article didn’t say who she was…..

    • Esmom says:

Me neither, not in a million years. Even her eyebrows are different. She was adorable the way she was, I love her freckles.

      • Mateo Diaz says:

  5. Mia V. says:

I thought it was Iggy Azalea in hippie clothes.

  6. kate says:

I don’t think she’s had a chin implant. Maybe a little fat removal from that area, or it could just be the difference in angles. Other than her lips, I’m not seeing any big changes. Kesha with make-up vs. Kesha without make-up/with low-key make-up has always been quite a stark difference.

  7. Zapp Brannigan says:

She looks like a couple of members of All Saints blended together. 90’s girl bands forever!

  8. Naddie says:

She was better looking before… It’s actually a trend among non celebrities too, to look like everyone else. Yesterday I saw a pic of a random woman in my facebook and I mistook her for two other ones (and they’re not genetically similar).

    • Mateo Diaz says:

She only had her lips done. I spoke with her stylists on Instagram. Everything else is due to a new hairstyle, new shade of concealer and foundation + she had her eyebrows arched with makeup, not by surgery.

  9. cleveland girl says:

Lips, chin, nose possible, and some aggressive facials. I think she looks good.

  10. leigh says:

She looks pretty good. As long is she is happy, that is what matters. Also, she is a walking reminder to pile on the SPF.

  11. Tulip Garden says:

This body/face modification stuff just makes me sad for all of us 🙁

  12. notEye says:

She reminds me of Courtney love

  13. Em says:

Other than lip injections I don’t think she’s done anything else. She’s been doing some acting so it’s possible she’s doing this for a role. She went around with awful yellow hair for two months a while back. Turns out it was for a movie role. Any other changes I think are due to her putting on weight. Her weight fluctuates a lot so her appearance will change a lot due to that.

I think it’s a bit sad though that this is what’s getting covered when she’s currently in a fight to save her music career. She asked Sony if she could record music without working with Dr. Luke and they refused to let her do that. She’s now filed an injunction asking a court to let her sign to other labels while her case goes through the courts. She has a court date at the end of January to decide whether she’ll get the injunction or not. I think her career being in trouble because she’s refusing to work with a man who she says abused her for years is a much more important story.

    • BendyWindy says:

      All of this.

    • BunnyBear says:

Yeah it kinda makes me mad that this is what they’re choosing to cover with Kesha. Why would you want to snark on whether or not she’s had plastic surgery when she’s facing an extremely traumatic situation. At least maybe mention that she’s being forced to continue working with her rapist?

    • Lea says:

Definitely! I wish we discussed her battle more here on CB.

    • Kitten says:

      Aw now I feel bad.
Big record companies suck because they generally treat their artists like cash cows but this is a particularly toxic situation.

I wish she hadn’t changed her face, but you guys are right to remind me that there’s a bigger story here.

      • Mateo Diaz says:

She only got lip injections. Everything else is the styling and makeup. She got her eye lashes and eyebrows touched up, make-up wise at a spot in LA and she posted about it. The only reason her brows look arched is because she was glancing at something while getting out the car.

    • original kay says:

I had no idea any of this was happening to her.

      • BunnyBear says:

The situation itself is awful and the fact that it’s not really being covered makes it even more so.

      • Lex says:

There’s supposedly a petition around somewhere to have her record company release her so she can make music again without the man who raped and abused her.
I’ll try find a link somewhere.

The record company will take notice if they face a big backlash, surely?

      • Tapioca says:

Probably because when the first album was selling and she was at the top of her game, her relationship with Dr. Luke was all fluffy bunnies and rainbows.

Only AFTER they had argued over the direction of her second record and she wanted out of her contract was there any suggestion of improper behaviour on his part.

I’m not going to be branding anyone “a rapist” just yet, when the situation is still as sketchy as hell…

      • Bridget says:

Because what’s more likely – that someone, fresh out of rehab for an eating disorder, would prefer to try to get out of her contract by initiating a prolonged and humiliating legal battle that could potentially end her career OR that someone of immense power and influence in the music industry was exploiting one of his artists?

      • Sarah says:

Hmmmmm they do studies about this. It’s nearly always far worse for the victim to not be believed than an innocent person to be accused (as that happens so infrequently, regardless of what MRAs say). I’m in the habit of believing victims. If they’re lying, so be it. If not, they deserve respect as they so rarely get.

    • Alyce says:

Yes! I thought they were finally going to mention that Sony has her trapped in a situation where she either work with her rapist or give up her career. But no… Lets talk about her looks instead!

    • I Choose Me says:

I for one had no idea about this so thanks for sharing this info. No one should have to work with their rapist. What an effed up situation. I hope she’s able to find some legal recourse and soon.

    • Sopha says:

@tapioca, I am glad you have said that. I thought I was the only one who wasn’t convinced. I am not a dr Luke or kesha fan, but this court case intrigued me so I have been following it closely, reading court docs etc.
I think Dr Luke is probably a sleazy old man, but the rape was meant to have happened when she was 18, she continued to work with him for years and only claimed rape when she wanted out of her contract because she wanted to get out of pop. Also she had previously signed an affidavit saying that he had never touched her (in relation to another matter).
I also think her legal team is playing things up. Her lawyer told the media that Dr Luke was the person who raped lady gaga and then had to retract it. They also let her put in the court document that he pressured his partner for an abortion. He is still with the partner and has 2 kids with her, why would you put something in that is obviously going to be denied?
Anyway, I do think kesha is probably a victim of horrible music industry, but I am just not sure about the rape …
      Please don’t crucify me.

  14. aenflex says:

Generally not a fan of obvious plastic surgery, et al. However, I think she looks better now. The fuller lip actually fits her face. The different brow shape opens up her eyes as well.

  15. Jenni says:

Lips. Chin. Brow lift. No a good look.

  16. GoodNamesAllTaken says:

It’s funny to me that big, puffy lips are such a requirement these days. I don’t think they look better or worse than thinner lips if you were born with them, but why add them? They don’t necessarily improve your looks.

    • Kitten says:

I can kind of get behind the idea of having fillers to add the natural volume that we lose as our lips age but why so damn much? Little, subtle tweaks ok–but I will never understand the extremist approach to injections. There’s a way to do it where nobody notices, you know?

But maybe that’s the point…maybe celebs just want us to talk about them.

      • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

Right, if you’re replacing what you had. I don’t have big lips, and never did, so I think it would be odd to stick them on my face now.

  17. Jag says:

Mid-face facelift – look at her eyebrows raised at the ends now and the lessened lines to her mouth, neck/under chin lipo, and maybe a chin implant. Lip stuff of course.

    • Mateo Diaz says:

I just spoke with her stylist/bff on instagram. All she had done were her lips. Everything else is strictly styling and minimal makeup. 18. nora says:

She’s going through a lot. The surgery might be an attempt at having some control over her life. I feel bad for her.

  19. Barrett says:

I wish the injected over done lip trend would go away. It’s really true some people like Kylie look wrong w it, like totally off? Why can’t some some people accept that thinner to normal lip sizes is actually attractive on how their faces come together.

Beauty can be about some level of symmetry in ones face and then some level of something that is not perfect but yet distinct.

I need some major fashion houses or famous people to revolt new natural face trend!!! revolt!

  20. WR says:

She posted a pic on Instagram last night that was taken after these pictures and other than lips she looks the same as she always did. Light, make-up, styling, position facing the camera etc. can give the appearance of having work when none has been done. A couple of months ago people were making a big deal about Kesha’s face when she first did her lips but make up free pics revealed she looked the same. Add to that her weight has been yo-yoing so much over the last 6 months so comparing before and after could reflect weight changes. She should stop messing with her lips but other than that she looks the same.

    • Kitten says:

I just peaked at her IG and it’s pretty nice actually. She has a much better selection of pics than your average celeb. I dig all the cat photos too 🙂

    • Cece says:

Agreed. I don’t think she’s had very much done at all. For some reason she always looks terrible in airport pics. But then you check her instagram and she looks basically like she always does.

  21. Reine_Didon says:

IRL women who work for a luving, study have kids lead a career don’t have time to be 24/7 photo ready. And they are beautiful and brave without laser yoga faux nails etc… Iggy Azalea, Kesha and of course Kylie, all have transformed their faces and morphed into the same oval face/big lips combo. Imposing this trend of “perfection”. Now are we supposed to be “amazed” by their “beauty” without pointing out the obvious fact that they have surgically transformed their natural looks ?! Coz so far iggy and K are blantly lying about it. Wich is pathetic and insulting.

    • Cece says:

I don’t think Kesha’s transformed her face at all other than lip injections. Everything else is just styling. Celebrities have stylists so their looks will often change.

    • Mateo Diaz says:

I actually spoke to both her stylists, Vittorio Massechia and Shelby Hearts, and they confirmed she had lip injections, but that is it. Everything else is makeup, styling and natural facials. 🙂

  22. Ellie says:

Co-sign with everyone pointing out that she’s going through a LOT right now. I feel for her.

Yes, it looks like she’s had work done, but I think she looks pretty good. Definitely not Kylie Jenner-ish. It has to be more than Botox and whatever’s happening around her mouth. I feel like this site thinks Botox does more than it does. It doesn’t even make most wrinkles go away, only the smallest ones — its main purpose is to stop the muscle from moving, so chances are, if someone is looking tweaked, they had one or more other types of fillers or some kind of actual surgery.

  23. Rainbow says:

I don’t like her as an artist but i feel sorry for her. The situation that she’s in, is horrible. SONY sucks and her producer should go to jail.
As for the phots, i’m surprised that some people say she looks good or even like the average LA starlet. She looks really bad imo. Her face looks weird and dead, like she had a face transplant. I hope she gets better emotionally and her surgeries settle down.

    • Cece says:

These are just bad pictures taken at the airport on her way to Texas. It was probably a morning flight and she may have been tired. I saw some pictures of her on Twitter last night in Texas and she looked great.

  24. Elle says:

I just don’t get the desire for a chin implant at all. Or cheek implants for that matter…

  25. teehee says:

Well you know… if the culture puts the Trashians on a pedestal, an they have had multiple plastic surgeries by the age of 18, wear 2 pounds of contour, wear shaping clothes, extensions, false lashes, and are photoshopped to a cartoon—- its sad to say, the some people will actually strive to attain that themselves too— I expect that many young girls today will be going under the knife much sooner and more often (more thigns done) as a result.
I cant say its bad or wrong, but this shouldnt be the norm. Hey! It makes us normal people look all the better (and smarter) by comparison.
I can understand wanting to fix one feature, but doing many and changing your face completely— WHYYYYY

  26. Dq says:

Poor kesha! She’s my favorite young poptart. I feel real bad for her because she seems to be slowly falling apart. This new face makes it seem that way anyway. Sexual assault can fuck up anyone’s life, it’s sad to see how she is not managing.

    • Lex says:

She doesn’t need to be revictimised. If making some alterations is how she is choosing to move on, then so be it.
It could be an empowerment thing? New face, new me!
It’s not necessarily a sad and negative thing.
If this makes her feel better and helps her to heal, then GREAT!

  27. Tiffany says:

The lips are noticable. But I am thinking the no makeup is what is making the difference.

  28. Megan says:

    brow lift. for real.

  29. Skins says:

That is the most ridiculous chin I have ever seen

  30. A~ says:

    She looks the same.

  31. WILZ says:

no chin implant,I think this is the result of a face lift + fat grafting and obviously lip fillers…I don’t think she looks bad but definitely unrecognizable

  32. word says:

I only notice the obvious lip injections but that’s about it. We need to remember that fuller lips can really transform a face…on some it looks good, on others not so much.

  33. daj79 says:

noooo!!!!! she was so great and now here we go again with the quack quack duck lips

  34. lesbastardsmiserables says:

This is very sad and concerning, I hope she has people looking out for her. Just really sorry to hear of all she’s gone through, the whole LA/celebrity environment can’t be a healthy place for someone who’s been abused by their “team”. I wish Kesha and Britney would just run far, far away :/

    • Mateo Diaz says:

All she had done were her lips. She looks the same she did years back, just with bigger lips. Trust. I spoke to her stylists and I’ve been a fan of her’s since 2009. She put on ‘natural’ makeup and a different hairstyle and people are quick to scream surgery.

  35. Twinkle says:

Looks like a brow lift, some laser resurfacing on the skin and maybe some filler underneath the eyes to fill out the hollowness.

  36. LAK says:

Apart from the lips, I can’t tell if she’s done anything else. She’s not wearing make up in the second picture, and angles are different.

  37. Marianne says:

She looks a little more puffier in the face as well.

  38. Katija says:

I recently cancelled an appointment to have work done, deciding to just stay natural, so these comments are giving me warm fuzzies. 🙂

  39. Mateo Diaz says:

  40. fiona says:

Looks like she’s had a fat transplant/dermal fillers under her eyes – looks good. Those lip injections look awful though. Too much, subtle lip injections look incredible when done right. her chin looks the same to me, just a bad angle in the photo.
