As soon as Rooney Mara walked on to the carpet, Twitter blew up with people groaning about her Givenchy gown. I love it… I love the hate, I mean. I HATE the dress and love that people were calling her a sad goth doll for like an hour last night. While I am relieved that Rooney didn’t trot out yet another black dress nor another terrible nude dress, I can’t say this white Givenchy was much better. She looked like a Tim Burton creation… something something Corpse Bride, maybe? It is a very bridal look, but like, off-kilter bride. Like she’s about to marry Marilyn Manson.
Speaking of bridal… I think Priyanka Chopra is SO PRETTY. But this Zuhair Murad gown was not the look for her. The idea of it – putting a beautiful Indian woman in white – is fine. But the execution was lacking. The skirt was too see-through (my kingdom for some appropriate lining on these gowns last night) and the belt saved it from looking like a wedding gown, but still… she could have done much better.
And again, speaking of bridal… Olivia Wilde in Valentino. Is it just me or was she on the red carpet for like two straight hours? She did TWO interviews with ABC, and she was in every wideshot of the carpet for a really long time. All because she wanted people to see this Valentino dress which… eh, is not good at all. It reminded me of the Louis Vuitton apron that Alicia Vikander wore to the Golden Globes. Only Olivia’s Valentino was worse, somehow. I really, really do not like her boobs look in this.

rooney mara manages to wear a variation of the same dress at every award. even her hair and make up look exactly the same. sometimes i see a picture of her at an event and think it’s an old one, because everything looks the same. i don’t get it.
If that dress came in black and more sheer, Kim Kardashian would wear it.
Those Valentino’s dresses we’ve been seing lately are THE HORROR. The only one I liked was the one Kirsten Dunst wore for the GG.

What kills me about Rooney Mara is that she has such, SUCH a cute smile, and yet she never uses it. I feel depressed just looking at these photos.
During the show, the camera caught a glimpse of Rooney laughing and smiling and I swear I caught sight of a dimple. She is stunningly beautiful when she smiles. It was almost the highlight of the entire show.
She was on camera a lot! The camera kept showing Cate and Rooney was behind her….she looked so pleasant when she was smiling!!
I don’t think she needs to smile just look pleasant and appreciate being invited to an event. She finally accomplished that in these pictures so I will give her a thumbs up. (P.S. Do you read Celebitchy Rooney?? Hi!)
Im done with the dungaree gowns. Totally overkill this season and 99% looked unflattering.
How do you wear a dress like Olivia’s without having a wardrobe malfunction? Do they tape the dress on her or something?

Olivia Wilde tried to happen for awhile and it was no go. I do give her points for taking on interesting independent work but she’s just not a star.
Rooney Mara was dour and sour on the red carpet. Even when she was interviewed she managed to be completely joyless. For crying out loud, Rooney! You’re on the red carpet of the biggest awards show in Hollywood! Acknowledge that your job really isn’t that serious. Enjoy life a little. It’s okay. No one will think less of you.

If you google her before tgwtdt. She actually smiles and has a better style. For some reason she wanted to be deep and dark as lisbeth and took her personality or something lol

There is not one single thing that is positive about Rooney’s dress. Awful awful awful. I am fed up with the following: lace, see-through badly lined dresses, boobing out all over the place, “dresses” that are basically body-suits with see-though lace skirts, bared midriffs or otherwise awkwardly-placed cut-outs…. etc etc. End of rant.

I actually quite like Priyanka’s dress, and her figure looks amazing in it.
Olivia’s look was unfortunate, and just a bad choice overall, but the look could have been salvaged if she ditched the thick heavy choker! That kind of plunging look shouldn’t be completely cut off with that style of necklace, it kind of defeats the purpose of the neckline.
All dresses are MEH but I will give Priyanka a pass because it’s a lovely contrast with her skin tone. The lining was a tad too see-through I agree, but it wasn’t terrible. And she was super confident in it, and that counts and helps.
Im pretty sure Rooney has worn a really similar dress at a past event. I actually like Olivia’s dress, I just don’t like the choker.
I think Priyanka looks beautiful, I like the dress and it’s very flattering, but I also agree that it could have been better lined.
Unfortunately I can think of absolutely nothing remotely kind to say about Rooney’s appearance (except perhaps that she has a lovely figure), so I will just move on…
I didn’t *mind* Rooney’s dress (it looked better on camera) but she completely ruined it by wearing white stripper shoes. That were too small.
It would have worked way better with delicate sandals, either bronze or bright to give a touch of colour.
Olivia looked like someone had dressed her as a joke. Just like Kate Hudson in that awfull Ill- fitting shiny pleated gold monstrosity she wore at the VF after party.
As for Priyanka I just can’t with sheer. Sheer should not be in a thing. I see gorgeous beading, intricate embroidery etc- why ruin it by seeing bare legs underneath?

I think no matter what she wears (50 Shades of Neutrals), her look is best described as Professional Mourner. Bland and suitably morose-looking. A real pity as she has such a charming, impish smile.
I understand that red carpets can be traumatic for introverts, but surely she would have learnt some coping skills by now. Or try acting as though she has!

I disliked Rooney’s, was disappointed in Priyanka’s, and hated Olivia’s with a fiery passion. Awkward and unflattering, and somehow I’m not surprised to hear she lingered on the red carpet.
I actually really like Priyanka’s dress, but only on her. It’s tacky, but her figure looks espectacular and the white goes so well against her skin.
Rooney’s dress is AWFUL, but I’ll never understand people who get offended by people not smiling.
Olivia’s dress is a vulgar, oversexualised apron. One of the worst of the night.

I liked Rooney’s look too. She did have a little of the corpse’s bride look going on, and I think that’s probably what she was going for, but I thought she looked great. And I didn’t mind the stripper shoes either.
Olivia is just mind-boggling beautiful. She kind of looked like a more slutty Princess Leia here.
I like it, too! Probably my least fave part is the front slit, but the top is so gorgeous. Love really delicate details and small buttons like that.

She is wearing a dirty doily. Not good. Her entire awards season has been one big flopping fail.
First I want to say that I feel badly criticizing anyone’s dress because when I look at most of the photos, it’s so clear that most of these ladies are so happy with what they’ve chosen to wear and feel beautiful in their gowns. Imagine how horrible they must feel finding themselves on a Worst Dressed list.
That being said, Rooney Mara never looks like she feels happy… ever… wearing anything. So I don’t feel badly saying her dress is boring. Plus it’s basically the same dress I’ve seen her in a number of times before.

Before Dragon Tattoo Rooney Mara used to wear color and look delighted to be on the RC. But she lost like 15 pounds and went full method for Dragon Tattoo and stayed there including keeping all her tattoos. So it’s always hard not to see this as a disguise but she did look friendlier than in the past.
I like R.M. dress. But I would have chosen color instead of white. Have a friend that saw her in public and told me that she is a beautiful woman, so I don’t get why she always looks so harsh.
