‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ has a new trailer: seriously, this looks really good?

x1

I always complain about superhero movies and how they’re oversaturating the market. I make an exception for one franchise though: the X-Men. Ever since they rebooted the franchise with X-Men: First Class, this franchise has been one of my favorites. To me, mutants are always going to be more compelling than Batman, Iron-Man, Captain America or whatever. I realize that I’m in a minority with that, and so be it. But I love Michael Fassbender as Young Magneto, I love James McAvoy as Young Charles Xavier, and many of the young actors filling these mutant roles are doing good work.

As for this rebooted franchise (which has deep connections to the original), this year’s film will probably be the last for this cast. Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender and James McAvoy have all fulfilled their three-film contracts and I think all of them are eager to step away now. So… enjoy them in what will likely be their final outing. Here’s the latest trailer for X-Men: Apocalypse.

I like how Fassbender-heavy this one feels. Magneto is a great ambiguous villain/anti-hero, and I’m interested in seeing what happens in his scenes with Apocalypse. Oscar Isaac is Apocalypse, and something is bugging me… what are they doing to his voice? His real voice is lovely and deep, but they’re doing weird post-production work on it. Sophie Turner (Sansa Stark) is the young Jean Grey, and J-Law returns as Mystique, obviously, and Nicholas Hoult returns as Beast. I liked Evan Peters’ version of Quicksilver (and Magneto is his daddy!), Rose Byrne returns as Moira and what else? I’m not looking forward to Olivia Munn’s Psylocke, but that’s just because Munn plucks my last nerve.

So, yeah. I’m into this. I’ll watch it in the theater.

I think it looks really good! But I dont know how the rumoured (and for me very much anticipated) Mystique/Magneto relationship happens with them on opposite sides?

  3. Kitten says:

That last pic OMG. I want to go to there…

As much as I love Oscar, Fassy is The Sex in these pics. Yum.

    • NUTBALLS says:

Yep, he’s overshadowing McAvoy in this and I love me some Mac.

Despite my weariness of superhero films, I’ll be there on opening night for this and Cap 3.

JLaw aaaand Sophie Turner? The fanboys on reddit must be positively giddy.

  5. mia girl says:

    I just fainted a little.
I am so in love with James McAvoy. It’s a problem.

  6. Mia4s says:

    Fassy, McAvoy, Isaac….Damn.

The press tour is going to kill me before I ever get to see the movie.

  7. Lizzie McGuire says:

This is a good trailer, I’ve always liked the bromance between McAvoy & Fassbender. I totally forgot that Oscar Isaac was in the movie, agree with the voice don’t like what they’re doing with it. As for the costume, it really reminds me of the Power Rangers villain.

  8. Beez says:

Ahhhhh Fassbender in the morning 🙂

  9. Aooo says:

Fassbender and Isaac are just so handsome together. Movie should be only yhe two of them.

  10. Monie says:

Oh hells yeah! I ALWAYS watch X-Men flicks in the theaters. I’m so there!!

  11. SBS says:

Nothing beats the combo of McAvoy+Fassbender.

  12. Dani2 says:

Oscar Isaac is in this? Urm, heck yeah, take my money in already.

I’ll watch anything with Oscar Isaac in it.

  13. SugarMalone says:

Thankfully it may not be the last X-Men film for Fassbender and McAvoy – they supposedly extended their contracts this past August.

I’m glad because the X-Men movies are the only “superhero” movies I look forward to. I do kind of wish Bryan Singer would step down and let Matthew Vaughn come back, though. I think he’s a more dynamic filmmaker and in my opinion, FIRST CLASS was an overall better film than DAYS OF FUTURE PAST.

  14. CornyBlue says:

The trailers look awful jfc and the CGI looks unfinished still. Their ad campaign has been so bad . Like how do you make a movie with Fassbender and Lawrence look forgettable.

  15. AnotherDirtyMartini says:

Oh Fassbender…why are you so hot?

  16. Ari says:

I can’t stand Munn but I am looking forward to her psylocke because i think she is going to nail it for some reason and she is my favorite character next to Koriand’r (starfire)

  17. Margo S. says:

I am not into this. I’m disappointed in the casting of munn. She sucks. Plus I think there are way to many super hero movies on there. Please just tone it down a tad.

  18. platospopcorn says:

I’ve legit been having dreams about Michael Fassbender for the past week, and I don’t mean the daydream/imaginary boyfriend type of dream. I mean I SEE HIM IN MY DREAMS!!!! He always shows up in some capacity and it just stops me in my tracks.

    WHAT IS HAPPENING????

  19. Danielle says:

I dislike the new x men. Magneto and x were such huge jersey to mystique and she was so passive and bland. Yuck.

  20. annaloo. says:

I am sorry that Munn gets on your last nerve….:-(

BUT I LOVE HER IN THIS!!

  21. serena says:

Man, that looks great. And Munn’s Psylocke looks amazing too!

  22. Grant says:

So excited for Psylocke, only because she’s my favorite X-woman. Go Betsy Braddock!!!

  23. Rux says:

Uh the kids are totally getting dropped off at the Uncle’s house and we are seeing this in the theater; it’s been FOUR years since we went to the movies.

  24. Chewbacca says:

There’s this one shot in the trailer that makes me wonder if they’re going to address what happened to Storm’s parents and her resulting claustrophobia. I hope so, it’s an important part of her story, and so heartbreaking. I’ve always felt like surviving that and become such a powerful force for good made her all the more heroic.
