Lohan’s movie scrapped and her partying is blamed

It will take more than sobriety to resurrect Lohan’s film career. The movie that was rearranged around Lindsay’s rehab stint, Poor Things, has been cancelled and producers are blaming Lohan’s jaunt to Vegas. They say that despite the ankle bracelet her partying scared off the investors in the film.

Lohan supporters claim that filmmakers are using her behavior as an excuse and that the film had problems that can’t be blamed on her. Those rumors about Lohan doing whippets in jail and trying to score ecstasy while in Vegas surely didn’t help matters.

Lohan was supposed to start filming “Poor Things” with Shirley MacLaine when she was out of rehab. But last week, product vendors including GE and Dell computers, who had been promised placement in the movie in exchange for cash, got a disturbing e-mail from set designer Fontaine Beauchamp Hebb.

Hebb’s e-mail, with the subject line: ” ‘Poor Things’ has been cancelled,” said, “Sorry to be the harbinger of bad news, but I just received a call from Jacky Gilardi, the producer, pulling the plug on the ill-fated film.

“Apparently, Ms. Lohan’s antics in Las Vegas over the weekend have scared the bond companies and all of the funding has been pulled . . . I look forward to working together in the future and trust our next project will not be as fraught with difficulty.”

The insurers were said to worry that Lohan, despite wearing an alcohol-monitoring device around her ankle and claiming to take daily drug tests, had gone out clubbing with pals…

But a Lohan friend fumes: “She had nothing to do with that movie shutting down. It was a mess to begin with. They randomly fired Channing Tatum for Giovanni Ribisi, and then financing fell through because producers spent money like water. It was only supposed to cost $4 million – Lindsay was being paid nothing for that role.

Meanwhile Lohan turned herself into cops yesterday for her May 26 DUI. She was booked and released from the Beverly Hills precinct in about an hour and posted $30,000 bail.

She will be arraigned on August 24, which means that the charges will be officially stated at the time. E! Online reports that it’s unknown if she will be charged for the small amount of cocaine found in her car after the accident.

Lohan is also said to be working on a new album, which she says she wants “to be a dance record.” She says that she will start recording in August, and that she plans to tour. Lohan claims she wants to do “a Madonna-style show.” [Details form Contact Music]

Now that her movie career is on hold, maybe it’s a good plan to focus on her abandoned music career. Musicians get a lot more leeway for bad behavior.
