Carrie Underwood shows off her bikini body on Instagram: inspiring or why?

Carrie Underwood reminded us all that summer is just around the corner by posting a selfie in a bikini from her fitness clothing line Calia by Carrie Underwood. The country star and American Idol alum, who works hard to maintain her trim physique, captioned the picture, “I’m so proud to be able to work with @dickssportinggoods to create a line of swimwear that makes me feel so good! Adorable and athletic…and covers everything I want covered! @caliabycarrie #staythepath #summeriscoming #vegas.” It is a cute suit, and I had best give up the wings and pizza if I want to show off my bikini bod anytime soon. Thanks, Carrie.

When Carrie’s not working out her body, she’s putting her vocal chords through the paces. She was joined on stage by Miranda Lambert at Friday night’s Academy of Country Music’s fourth annual ACM Party for a Cause festival at the Las Vegas Festival Grounds. Carrie headlined the special ACM Women of Country night and sang “Something Bad” with the “Little Red Wagon” singer.

And, if that’s not enough, Carrie just announced she’s extending her Storyteller Tour, which she started back in January into November. The concert has an in-the-round format, and Carrie, through a recent statement, said, “I always love being on the road performing for my fans but something about this tour feels more magnetic than ever. Having a 360-degree view of the audience gives me the opportunity to connect with more fans and feed off their energy. I can’t wait to continue this tour into the fall!”

Singing, working out, designing fitness gear and being a Mom, just typing that made me want to go take a nap. I guess good on you, Carrie. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m off to the gym.

I was wondering what had happened to my Hawaiian placemats. She’s in beast mode though – good for her.

    • Alix says:

LOL! Her eye makeup still ages her a good 15 years.

      • QQ says:

        As do her brows….

I dont get the whole “inspirationess” of the showing your bikini body and The Yogis and Athletes of IG tooting their butts up in order to inspire us to… What?? If we could do away with the pretense that this is anything other than: “I Like My Body, Hot?, no? tell me”

      • littlemissnaughty says:

QQ, word. They’re not inspiring us. It’s good old-fashioned showing off, seasoned with a pinch of fishing for compliments. Or likes, these days. It’s fine, really. She looks pretty damn awesome. But watch these people freak out and throw around “shaming” accusations when somebody says something negative.

Don’t get me wrong, I don’t think there is a reason for anyone to randomly comment on someone else’s body or looks. I don’t do it because … why? The thing is, Instagram’s only reason for existing is people’s narcissism. So we’re actually asked to comment but my god, don’t go negative. It’s ridiculous.

        Her bikini is cute though.

      • QQ says:

Littlemissnaughty YESSSSS jesus Yes! Its so puzzling to me like lets be honest about it, B!

      • Tifygodess24 says:

@littlemissnaughty yes!!! Yes!! I find that people really confuse criticism and shaming. They are two very different things, with two different meanings. No one is free from criticism In life (actions get reactions) and just because someone gives a negative opinion or view about something or someone, doesn’t automatically mean they are shaming the person. It’s really annoying.

      • Jsilly4e says:

But she’s promoting her bikini line at Dicks Sporting Goods. She’s actually wearing a modest bathing suit and hardly showing her body for promotion of her bathing suit line. Therefore she’s not bragging or simply posting a pic to show off her hot body. I just saw a pic of one of the Kardashians on people’s site. She was showing off her side boob and butt cheeks. For no reason but she’s thirsty. I think the headline needs to be changed because nobody is reading what she wrote in her post.

      • littlemissnaughty says:

Jsilly4e, looking at her Insta it’s pretty clear that she’s not someone who constantly posts bikini selfies, that’s true. She’s no Kim K. But yes, of course she is showing off her body for promotion of her bathing suit line. The context of selling something other than the image of her body doesn’t change that. It’s nothing unheard of but while we’re comparing her to the Kardashians, let’s be honest. They sell stuff too. They just go about it a bit differently.

I was trying to make a larger point about social media and the bane of my existence. The selfie. I sound like an old-ass woman when I complain about them but my god, I HATE them. If you have time to take 100 selfies while you’re having such a great time, you’re most likely not having such a great time. Or you wouldn’t constantly pose.

      • jsilly4e says:

        Littlemissnaughty Gotcha! 🙂

(ETA I meant that I now understand what you were writing lol)

  2. PinaColada says:

I LOVE that the top is like a sports bra!!!! I have a larger chest and I absolutely despise the tie around the neck, which seems to be all that’s in stores. It hurts! I’m pregnant so this wouldn’t fit me right now, but I hope I can find it next season!!

    • GiGi says:

Yeah – I agree! I like to wear a bikini, but I also like to play in the waves at the beach or dive at the pool – doesn’t work so well with a conventional top.

    • Crumpet says:

Yes, I do really like the bikini for that reason as well! If you like that style, check out Title Nine or Athleta. They do a good job with sporty bathing suits as well.

    • EmmGee says:

Target seems to have a lot of swimwear styles this year with over the shoulder straps but the few I tried on really didn’t seem like they would contain my chest for much more than just laying by a pool. Patagonia has great swimwear; it’s a bit pricey but the tops I’ve gotten from them have lasted thru 6-7 seasons of whitewater rafting with a bunch of surf sessions in between and they still look great. No stretching, snagging, or color changes. Can’t say the same for their owner…..

  3. Jag says:

Good for her, and I do mean that.

Why does her face look so weird in the last picture? The one with the dress?

  4. kri says:

All I care about is that necklace in the photo where she’s in the black gown.

  5. Magnoliarose says:

Her makeup is too heavy and I rarely like her style. Her body looks healthy and fit but I wish she went for a more youthful look. She manages to age herself by a decade.

  6. Jess says:

I love that type of sporty top. I wear sports bras or no bra since I’m small chested and I’m glad these types of swimsuits are starting to trend, they’ve been hard to find over the years.

    • GingerCrunch says:

It IS kind of adorable AND athletic! I prefer these kind of suits too and til now Nike and Athleta seemed to be the only ones with them. I’d actually check it out. Hope they don’t cost a hundred bucks tho.

    • Esmom says:

I like the style, too, it’s refreshingly athletic compared to a lot of stuff out there. Makes sense given who she’s partnering with. I was wandering through Dick’s one time and her workout apparel caught my eye because it was kinda cute. But when I saw the brand I walked away, immediate turn off for me. I don’t hate her but I’m not a fan either.

  7. Samtha says:

Well, she’s shilling her swimwear line, so it makes sense to post pics of herself in them.

    • yolo112 says:

This. It’s product placement. It’s not like it’s a heavily photoshopped pic of her by the pool (Brittnaayy) or in her bathroom (almost every other wanna be celeb).

  8. HeyThere! says:

I have big ol’ boobs, that are crazy and all over thanks to having a baby! LOL It’s safe to say NOBODY will ever accuse me of a boob job like they use to do daily. Boo! Anywho, I need a swim suit that holds the girls in place. No triangle tops, no ties at neck or back, no cute cut out, no push up(just lined to hide THO). I wonder how big the sizes come in? I would love a bra with sports bra straps and a clasp at my back! I want it to come up higher toward my neck so my boobs aren’t spilling out when I bend over or swim. I miss my teenage days of an A/B cup and wearing any bra, or no bra! Big boob problems suck for swim suits. All the cute target ones are a no go.

    • Caela says:

I don’t know if you have it in your country but I swear by Bravissimo. I’ve had FF since I was 17 and I’ve always bought bras from there. They now do swimwear and clothes. Honestly I cannot say enough good things about them!!

  9. GoodNamesAllTaken says:

I would be so embarrassed to post a selfie of myself in a bikini even if I had a perfect body. It just seems like bragging. I’m so hot and cute!

    • JudyK says:

I was about to make the same comment until I read she was promoting her swimsuit line.

    • littlemissnaughty says:

It seems like bragging because it is. That’s what Instagram is about. “My life is so awesome, isn’t my life so awesome though?”

    • Esmom says:

I know. But I look at my kids’ Instagram feeds and it seems no one else in the universe is embarrassed about posting selfies, bikinis included. Sigh.

    • Crumpet says:

I hear you. But this is a woman who makes her living in the public eye, so she is probably a bit immune to embarrassment by now and I’m sure she worked really hard for that body just so she could pose in a swimsuit from her line. So yeah, there is definitely some bragging going on.

    • Magnoliarose says:

Let’s count our lucky stars she isn’t doing that obnoxious kissy duck pose.
Some people have cute IG accounts and she’s shilling here, but it really does inspire some eye rolling moments. Everyone wants some adoration and attention, but get hot and bothered when the response is negative.

  10. TippyToes says:

She is the absolute definition of country tackiness!!

    • mayamae says:

Oh I think that title is more suited to Jessica Simpson.

    • MeAnnWhines says:

Leann Rimes gets the tackiest award. Oh Leann, it seems Carrie has paid her dues!!! What were you doing during the ACMs?

    • Birdix says:

How bad is this? This is the first time I reized that she and Miranda Lambert were two different people…

      • Magnoliarose says:

Bahahaha! I mix all those country people up except for a few. If someone tomorrow asked me to identify 5 of them including Lambert, I could not.

  11. Nancy says:

Carrie is like a cup of warm milk. White, warm and before you know it you’re falling asleep.

  12. Isa says:

She’s promoting her swimsuit line so I don’t see the big deal.
Honestly, If I had her body I would be showing it off way more than she does. She has beautiful legs and I would probably never wear pants if I were her.
I love the top. I was walking around in my sports bra and underwear after a workout and noticed how comfy and cute it would be as a bikini. I have a small chest but I have three kids and they cling to you like a spider monkey in the pool. It would be nice to not have to worry about a boob popping out.

    • Jsilly4e says:

Exactly she barely showed her body so even if she wasn’t doing it to promote her workout and swimwear line I’d welcome this pic with open arms.

People complain about nude shaming when I feel you shouldn’t put all your bits out there (just my honest personal opinion) but here is a celeb that works hard at her body wearing a modest bathing suit and not spreading her legs or needing black bars across her body and people are calling her a braggart. And she’s promoting her line at Dick’s. SMH

      • mee says:

yes. I think this makes sense, unlike those nudie pics from KK. She’s selling the bikini line. Plus the pic is fine and her body isn’t falling out of it.

    • lurkernomore says:

+1. Don’t get the complaining. For one, she is promoting a swimsuit line. So it makes sense that she would pose in one. It’s marketing 101. For two, the title clearly stated what the post would be a about. If you have such a huge problem with bikini selfies, why enter the post in the first place? Is there no pt in hating something unless ppl know it? Wtf??? I skip more post on here than I read bc it doesn’t interest me. I just don’t get ppl who are unnecessarily negative.

  13. Crumpet says:

OK ladies, haven’t been recently educated (here) about tadpole eyebrows, do with think Carrie is venturing into that territory?

    • lucy says:

They’re not tadpoles, but they’re not right, either. Btw, I always have called “tadpole” eyebrows golf clubs or hockey sticks! Either way: YUCK!

  14. lucy says:

The swimsuit is cute. I sure wonder what this woman looks like without the severe makeup though! Do women think guys dig pale-faced cartoon raccoons with a bottle-blonde blowout? Yeesh! She’s practically Tammy Faye Bakker (minus the tears and lipstick)!

    • Isa says:

Oh yes! What will the men think?!? 🙄

      • lucy says:

If that is a snide remark aimed at my considering that Underwood may be applying the heavy slap to appeal to males, it is off-base. I wholly think that styling oneself to appeal to anyone but oneself is misguided. However, in this case, I wonder if CU is misguidedly attempting to please others with that quantity of camo makeup. And I darethink NO ONE but CU actually thinks it looks okay.

So, unless you think the makeup looks good and you are defending CU for wearing it, we agree. If CU, or anyone else, thinks it looks good, then I am offering a counter-opinion to which anyone is welcome to disagree.

  15. J-Who says:

WHY so much makeup??? Geez, I honestly don’t think I could stand having all of that sh*t packed on my face all the time.

  16. JenniferJustice says:

She has a swimsuit line she’s schilling and it’s not a true body shot like LeAnn Rhymes posts constantly. It’s almost more of a headshot that capture some of her body and at an odd angle. I think instagram pics are desperate and obvious attempts for praise, but she’s pretty mild, so whatever. I think all these celeb that instagram and post pics are over-exposing themselves, but that’s just me.

  17. KBeth says:

Totally agree…her “style” really ages her. Super heavy make up, bleached hair, pageant looking clothes…*shudder*.
She has a lovely face& great figure, I would love to see her looking more natural.
The swimsuit pic is fine, rather modest actually.

  18. Joanie says:

I can’t believe how skinny she had gotten since Idol.

  19. Dani says:

While most bikini pics are eye roll worthy, I think Carrie’s is pretty tasteful.

    • JFresh says:

I agree. She’s not excessively sexualizing herself. Not that theres anything wrong with that, just nice to see a more mellow, normal image of a woman just wearing her bathing suit.

That said though, I never shop @ Dick’s. Gotta go to Mo’s!!!! #Modells is the best.

  20. MezzDame says:

It’s like she’s becoming the Kate Hudson of country music.
