Tammy Faye Messner, the fallen PTL minister who earned the respect of the gay community and the love of the public with her kind and mothering personality, passed away on Friday at the age of 65 following a long hard battle with cancer.
I watched this lovely woman on The Surreal Life in 2004 and she was always caring, always understanding, and never without her signature makeup. If there is a heaven, Tammy Faye is surely there.
On Friday her final interview with Larry King was aired via satellite. King asked her what she would like to say to all the people watching, she said “I would like to say that I genuinely love you, and I genuinely care, and I genuinely want to see you in heaven someday. I want you to find peace. I want you to find joy.”
Don’t watch this video of Tammy Faye’s final interview if you don’t want to cry.
Tammy Faye is survived by a son Jay Bakker, 31, a daughter, Tammy Sue (Sissy) Bakker Chapman, 37, and two grandchildren, James and Jonathan.
