Victoria Beckham is finally going to a gym

The fact that Victoria Beckham’s into her body and her image might not be news, but going to the gym certainly is. In the past, Victoria has said that she can’t work out because she’s not willing to wear anything but high heels: “I have joined a gym but I can’t bring myself to start. Obviously working out is important – well, I don’t. What do you wear on the running machine? I can’t bring myself to wear flat shoes.”

Victoria just turned 35, and it seems that she’s feeling the pressure to stay fit and youthful. There were rumors that Anne Hathaway will be replacing Victoria as the face of Marc Jacobs, and her Armani ads were widely regarded as a cry of “look at me!” With fashion trends moving away from stick-thin to athletic, Victoria is having to change for the times – and for her body.

The former Spice Girl – who turned 35 earlier this month – is reportedly terrified about getting older and is doing everything she can to stop time taking its toll.

A source said: “Victoria really felt that 35 was a turning point. Since moving to Los Angeles in 2007, she been surrounded by young Hollywood stars and she wants to keep up with them.”

The mother-of-three – whose soccer star husband David is currently living in Italy while he plays for AC Milan – has rejoined her exclusive old gym, which also boasts a luxurious spa.

The source added: “Victoria was working out at home with David. But now he’s in Milan, she hates working out alone. So she rejoined the gym.

“She seems to be asking for more treatments – she has more treatments than any other member.”

Victoria, who has always believed in eating healthily, is also now even stricter with her diet.

The source revealed to Britain’s Star magazine: “Her diet consists mostly of fish and vegetables. She works hard at it every single day. She knows she’s getting older, so is very particular about what she eats. She also drinks lots of water – at least two litres a day. It’s great for her skin and it helps keep her body from holding on to sodium, which makes it look bloated.”

Working out with David Beckham, whether he’s your husband or not, must give you a little bit of an inferiority complex. My boyfriend is the captain of his crew team, and though I wouldn’t call myself a couch potato, I feel like one whenever we work out together. And this is David Beckham we’re talking about.

Considering how anti-exercise Posh has been in the past (she has also said that she micro-manages what she eats, though denies an eating disorder), you wonder what it was that really inspired her to get fit. Maybe someone finally explained to her that being thin does not equal being healthy.

I remember reading once that she never drinks water, only diet coke. I thought that was sort of crazy at the time, maybe not true, maybe only true at the time.

I have also read that she has boasted about never having read a book. That makes her kind of sucky in my opinion

  2. HEB says:

Posh you’re never going to get preggers with a girl on that diet!!

  3. Embee says:

HEB: I’m curious, do food choices impact baby gender? Never heard that.

If you drink water you do lose weight actually. I know lots of people who don’t like drinking water but our bodies are made up of 70% water! It’s crazy not to drink it more than any other type of liquid. That being said, Posh always looks so unhappy, I think it’s the micro-managing of food that probably makes her look miserable and weak. A good work-out will probably do her good, but she needs more carbs and protein to keep her energy up as she works out if not she could pass out while exercising.

  5. TinaWithPom says:

This woman is anorexic. “Micro-managing her food”? From what I’ve seen, I believe she has severe eating issues. Friends who say otherwise tell me that the fact that Posh has carried three pregnancies to term means that she cannot be anorexic. As a RN, I can tell you this is nonsense. Anorexics can, and do, get pregnant, and deliver relatively healthy babies. Doesn’t mean their bodies are healthy.

I definitely think that calorie restriction/obsession is a type of eating disorder that many don’t think of as a disorder. Just because you eat three times a day doesn’t necessarily mean you’re healthy and don’t have problems with food. I’m not saying this is the case with VB – ya know, since I don’t know her – but I think, in general, this is something that as a society we should be talking about more often; eating disorders come in other forms besides bulimia and anorexia and raising awareness would be a good thing.

  7. Ned says:

I am not sure what is her claim to fame.

    Is she a “model” now?
Because she would be one of the ugliest models can’t really compete.

Is she an actress? a musician?

Being married to someone famous is so last century.

  8. dirtyoldman says:

She has the body of an Asian stewardess, which is amazing after three kids. Anything Posh does is all right by me.

As for what she tells the magazines, that could just be hot air to get attention — it’s a crowded media marketplace and she’s got to get her name in the blogs somehow.

  9. michellle says:

Fish & veg/fruits sounds like a wonderul diet, I wish I were so disciplined. Although if she really does eat that I think the problem for her is most likely an exceptionally limited amount rather than being an issue of quality. She may eat healthy food but may still be starving herself if her calorie intact is insufficient.

PH – babies are about 78% water, men are 60% & women 55%.

On on sep note, I love her hair.

  10. Granger says:

She’s so worried about aging — but has she SEEN older women who’ve spent years restricting their calories the way she does? They’ve obsessed so much about being thin that their faces end up looking gaunt and skeletal. They look terrible! I’d rather have a few extra pounds when I’m older so my face always looks plump and pleasant.

  11. BluePlanet says:

We all know she behaves this way to stay skinny, nobody’s fooled by the trying to be “healthy” claims. If it were about health, she would be exercising and not worrying about being in flat shoes. For god’s sake woman, get over yourself, everyone else has!

  12. jess says:

she looks so miserable because of all the paparazzi everywhere. if you see any of her interviews or reality shows, she is happy and extremely hilarious.

  13. czarina says:

Why does she need a gym? Carting around those giant purses (which have straps too small to go over the shoulder), I bet she has serious muscles in those arms!!LOL
Seriously, though, it is always a concern that anyone is completely obsessed by their body image, but I have never seen her looking “unhealthy”. Whether she eats enough or not, she must at least have the good sense to eat nutriously so that she does not look as if she is wasting away.

  14. Come on says:

Come on now – she’s miserable because she’s spent her entire life pursuing fame and fortune and believes that those things will bring her the satisfaction she needs. Turns out that they haven’t – no big surprise there. Victoria Beckham, like many celebrities, is a narcissist and a borderline sociopath. Do you really think that fame, fake adoration, and money bring happiness? If you do, I feel for you. Look at her face and eyes – devoid of happiness, depressed, totally self-absorbed. This is not a happy person.

  15. Layla says:

Go to the gym to do what a fashion shoot.

  16. czarina says:

@Come On–Let’s see…amazingly rich and married to David Beckham…maybe you’re right and she IS miserable. In the interests of being totally giving, altruistic and selfless, I will offer to trade places with her for a year or two so she can have a break from all the disappointment and unhappiness her life has to cause her!!LOL

  17. Magsy says:

Her and Katie Holmes rank right up there as two of the most unhappy looking celeb moms. What a pair of misery chops! And they supposedly have it all. Kate Moss would probably be number 3. So see, just because a famous gal is skinny doesn’t mean she’s happier than her more meaty counterparts. C’mon who laughs more Kirstie Ally or Posh? Rosie O’Donell or Tori Spelling?

  18. paris herpes says:

I think the comment about wearing heels is odd. I do recall seeing pics of her in Disneyland one time wearing flip flops and baggy jeans. So she is capable of wearing other shoes besides those killer platforms. She needs to get over her image and get some muscles because her calves look a little saggy even though she’s pin thin.

  19. paris herpes says:

michelle, thanks for the info. I had no idea women were made up of so little water. No wonder I’m always so thirsty! And practically the only thing I drink is water!

  20. Zoe (The Other One) says:

The long face is just a character she plays up to for the cameras. She’s playing the ‘fashion maven’ cos it gets her photographed. Same as the comment about working out in high heels – she’s playing up to her ‘Posh’ caricature. It’s not brain sugery.

She is, in reality, an absolute doll. Very funny, self deprecating and completely, disarmingly charming. She eats healthily and looks well for it.
