Celine Dion in Giambattista Valli at PFW: overdone or amazing?

The photo above is Celine Dion wearing Giambattista Valli at their show during Paris Fashion Week. I don’t love it. I am generally opposed to any sort of tiered-ruffled skirts for people over the age of four, even though I understand they are this season’s trend. The busy black and white pattern almost gives a feathery effect, which I would like except I am angered by the bodice. See-through heavy lace with a faux bib ruffle? Her coat is sensational, there is a better shot of the coat below. Look at her face, though. Her skin looks amazing. According to The Cut, Celine has been actively trying to change up her style of late and it has really been paying off. She is getting high marks from all the fashion mavens.

The person who’s been causing the most commotion at the biannual couture shows this week in Paris is not a 21-year-old ingenue or a fashion blogger. She’s a 48-year-old, sternum-thumping musical icon who’s not too cool to throw a double thumbs-up in the front row. Yes, Celine Dion has taken on couture, and couture will never be the same.

Possibly doing research for her upcoming lifestyle brand, Dion has thus far been spotted at Christian Dior and Giambattista Valli — at the latter, she gave the show a standing ovation and yelled out “Bravo!” (Apparently she’s not on vocal rest at the moment.) Not only has she been impeccably dressed for both outings, she has been transforming her look for some time now, with help from her new stylist, Law Roach, who also works with Zendaya. Believe it or not, Dion — not a grungy Tbilisi starlet — was the first person to wear Demna Gvasalia’s designs for Balenciaga; she’s also been seen sporting pieces by Virgil Abloh’s label Off-White and Jil Sander. Today French Vogue hailed Dion’s “new fashion credibility.” (Where were all these accolades back when she was pioneering the backwards suit?)

[From The Cut]

First of all, I loved Celine’s backwards suit. I don’t mean I remember it fondly, I mean I have been making mental tweaks to its styling since 1999 to wear when I finally make my red carpet appearance. And probably the hat too.

Of course the Canadian Goddess didn’t just politely nod and golf-clap during the show. You can see a play-by-play of Celine’s facial expressions here. I didn’t know Celine was starting a lifestyle brand? Apparently the brand will come out fall 2017 and her manager says they are going to “develop a lifestyle brand that translates Céline’s passions—family, music, performing, entertaining, fashion–into unique products and experiences for her fans around the world,” Huh. Oh my God – do you think she will sell the backwards tuxedo?!? Truthfully, I am thrilled Celine is having a good time in Paris. It’s nice to see her smiling after losing her husband and brother.

This is Celine at the Dior show. There is not a single thing I would do differently – I love this look top to bottom.

These looks are not from PFW but just Celine out and about in Paris prior. If you ever try to picture me, dress me in this grey outfit but have me wearing it while I am grocery shopping or something.

    Her new styling ROCKS!
It’s been reported (Lainey) that she picked Zendaya out of a magazine and wanted her stylist.
    I want him, too.
    Love all of it!

  2. Almondjoy says:

I love everything she wore 😍😍 All of it! My fave is the gray and also the nude/tan outfit. I also wish we could see the man in the third pic with polka dot pants (Zendaya’s stylist), I saw him from a different angle on another site and I WANT THOSE PANTS.

  3. amanda says:

She looks great. These don’t look like summer clothes. How is she staying cool? Leather pants in summer temperatures just seems like a bad idea.

  4. Vic says:

Oh my god what a badass! We love you queen Celine! Keep rocking!

  5. Kiki says:

The first picture of the dress she is wearing is ugly. But the second, third and fourth picture is something out of the ordinary for Celine Dion, it is sleek and retro and I love her style, it something Gwen Stefani would wear.

  6. Azurea says:

Who goes out walking in Paris in those stiletto heels? These are planned pap shots, bringing the drama. I’m sure she had to be wheeled away after each. So annoying. 🙄

    • supposedtobeworking says:

they are intentional pap shots for rebranding, and she’s not hiding it. Similar to Taylor Swift’s sidewalk runway a few years ago. Celine is going into fashion shows, so the purpose is the be photographed.

    • Flowerchild says:

What STW said. She not hiding it or trying to act like it’s more then what it is ( think the exact opposite of Taylor and boyfriend or Kardashians ) Celine not trying to sell some fake image or relationship. Celine is tell us up frount what she doing at these fashion show. Her stylist even posted a picture of fixing her outfit before leaving the hotel were the paparazzi are waiting.

    • Azurea says:

      Still annoying!

      • Almondjoy says:

After all the awful things she’s been through these past fee months I’m just happy to see her out and about and looking happy. Sounds like you just dislike her, which is fine.

  7. KatMC says:

Wow! She looks great! It is nice to see her smiling!

  8. PunkyMomma says:

    I want the boots. 😍

  9. BendyWindy says:

I loved her backward suit, too. And I love so much of what she’s wearing in these photos. If only I had the panache.

  10. holly hobby says:

Love the all black ensemble on the staircase. Hate the busy black and white outfit. Seriously that should be burned.

She’s done business ventures before. When I was at Montreal 10 years ago, she had a restaurant chain, Nickels. Those have since been closed.

  11. Nancy says:

Queen Celine with her King’s essence all around here. Because their love will go on and on. I hate when I’m sappy but I actually have the goosies…

  12. Sue says:

    WOWZA!
She is looking hot. Damn! Get it girl!!!

  13. Annie says:

She looks great! What I love the most is that she doesn’t look like sooooo many of the other cookie-cutter celebrities. She’s rockin’ it.

  14. kri says:

PERFECTION. Except that first dress. But the pantsuits…oh yeah. And also, after the losses she has suffered it’s nice to see her out and about. Tough lady. I admire that.

  15. SwanLake says:

Never been a fan of hers, but I was widowed a couple of weeks before she was, so I can relate to her in that sense. That first dress is hideous. Everything but the gray (minus the stilettos) leaves me cold. I’ve walked all around Paris, but I wouldn’t in any of this footwear.

  16. MezzDame says:

Look how much fun she’s having! As a Canadian, I must say, Quebecois women’s fashion sense that is so much more fantastic than Canadian women elsewhere across our country. I think it’s partly elegance but largely, it is the sense of having some fun with clothes. I think Celine has chosen a new stylist that really taps into her own sense of over the top je ne sais quoi! Love it /j’adore ca!
