Star Magazine has gotten their hands on Britney Spears’ rider for her trip to London. Unfortunately for all, it does not include the stripper’s pole that was discussed last week. Instead, Britney seems to want bright lights, fresh flowers, Marilyn Monroe movies and chick-lit. All nice requests. She even wants the Dorchester Hotel to provide “running routes” in Hyde park, as well as a chance to ride some horses. Who wrote this rider? Where are all of the crazy demands? I want to see “no green M&Ms” and “lemon flavored baby oil”! Next they’re going to try to convince me that Britney needs the DVD set of the BBC production of Pride and Prejudice. Oh, Mr. Darcy!
Britney Spears is a pop princess so it’s no surprise she wants to be treated like royalty when she visits London next month for her Circus tour.
While staying at the Dorchester Hotel, Britney rider includes a room that has “never” been smoked in at all with humidifiers in all areas. Brit, who plans to bring her own pillows, even specifies that the lighting must be 100 watt bulbs, no low lighting.
The diva also demands her home away from home have a fresh selection of flowers that she will arrange herself. To keep herself busy, Britney asks for a selection of the latest magazines, chick-lit novels and DVDs of her favorite Marilyn Monroe movies.
And while she’s across the pond, Britney plans to stay active outdoors. She requests running routes for nearby Hyde Park be provided as well as horse-riding opportunities.
Also planned: a private visit to Kensington Palace and taking in shows in London’s West End, including the Michael Jackson musical Thriller.

A selection of fresh flowers for Britney to arrange herself? This girl kills me. I love that she goes to London and needs to chill out by arranging some flowers. It probably is very therapeutic for her. I wonder which Marilyn Monroe movies are Britney’s favorite. Maybe Gentlemen Prefer Blondes? Or Some Like It Hot? Or How To Marry a Millionaire? Those are my favorites of Marilyn’s. I hate The Seven-Year Itch and The Misfits with a passion. It bothers me that Britney, much like Lindsay Lohan and other “starlets”, have this sick hero-worship of Marilyn Monroe. Why - because she dies young? Because she lived tragically? Because she lived big? I just don’t think Britney’s interest is healthy.

You know, there was a reason for that no green M&M rule that…god, what band was it? Uhm, but yeah…it was to ensure that the roadies were very focused on details. If they ignored the candy thing, chances were good that something more important was being ignored.
I think that her list is totally reasonable. Except for the Monroe thing…I never saw the appeal. I mean, she was essentially the Paris Hilton of her time-the dumb blonde. But because she died young that makes her so bloody special.

I don’t think it’s an obsession with MM for her. I thinks she probably identifies with MM is all. They both live(d) these fishbowl, bigger than life exsistances.
I like that even that is good for her, I like knowing that she is trying to heal her body, mind and spirit, but then I always liked her, felt empathy for her when she was so young and worked so hard.

Good point, Sixxkitty. Maybe she wants the Monroe comedies to remind herself to lighten up. Comedies can be very therapeutic. And Monroe was a talented comedienne. Yeah, Brit does sound like a normal, nice girl. I hope she has finally found herself and can finally get her life back on track.

My hair stylist has a Marilyn thing going on, too. A customer gave her a 1960 era Life magazine last week with that last photo shoot of Marilyn two weeks before her death. It’s the same one Lindsay Lohan keeps trying to imitate, without success. It’s not that odd to me that so many people are fascinated by MM. She truly did have something special.
Britney actually sounds totally normal. Fooling with flowers and horseback riding sound relaxing.

All her shows are solid sold out in England. They had to add 8 more shows , all sold out. Everyone said she can’t have a tour, she will fail, she won’t sell ticket. Why so much negativity ? She is a nice person and a great performer. We all know that.
