Kim Kardashian: ‘Without a doubt, I stand with Hillary. I’m with her.’

kim clinton

While some people focused on Kim Kardashian’s statements about Taylor Swift in her recent Wonderland interview, my biggest concern was what Kim said about politics and which candidate she was planning to vote for. Kim told Wonderland: “At first I thought, ‘Oh my god, I’m so Hillary’, but I had a long political call with Caitlyn last night about why she’s voting Trump. I’m on the fence.” Like, Wonderland didn’t make that quote up. I’m sure she said it. And it bugged me for the same reason why her “I won’t call myself a feminist” essay bugged me. It seemed craven, like an attempt to be so blandly inoffensive so as to appeal to a larger segment of the population. I mean, we already knew that Kim was #WithHer. She already attended a Clinton fundraiser and got a selfie! So Kim posted an essay to her paywalled app claiming she was joking, of course she’s voting for Clinton. Here’s the essay:

“A ‘quote’ of mine was released yesterday causing my phone to blow up by friends, family and even both candidates camps, so I want to explain the context in which I said I was ‘on the fence’ about my vote,” she wrote on her official app. “There was a point when I wasn’t 100% sure I was even going to vote in this election; I didn’t want to vote blindly. But I also thought about how not voting would mean that I wasn’t making my voice heard, so I decided to talk to my closest friends and family who I love and trust, to have an open conversation about politics.

“I believe we owe it to ourselves, and to each other, to ask questions. To do our research so that we vote for the candidate who represents our own beliefs. We should start at a place of openness, receptiveness and honesty, and we should talk to those we love, trust and respect.

“I had a long conversation with Caitlyn, who has always been open about her political views, and she encouraged me to do my research before making my decision and then vote for the candidate whose policies aligned with the things that matter most to me. And so that’s what I did. I thought about the things that are so important to me that they outweigh everything else, such as gun control and protecting women’s rights to safe and legal abortion.

“I found that without a doubt, I stand with Hillary. I’m with her. I believe Hillary will best represent our country and is the most qualified for the job. This year, I’m not just voting for myself, but also for my children, and I took that into careful consideration when I made my decision. Now that I have made my choice I want to be clear… I would never judge anyone based on their political or religious beliefs. I believe that both candidates have the intention of making the country a safer and stronger place for every American, they just have different ideas about how we get there. God bless America for allowing us to even make these decisions – there are so many in this world who are not so privileged.”

[From People]

Well… I applaud her for coming right out and saying that she’s voting on the issues with whch she feels strongly, a woman’s right to choose and gun control. Those are controversial issues in some quarters. I feel like nitpicking this though: “I believe that both candidates have the intention of making the country a safer and stronger place for every American, they just have different ideas about how we get there.” Eh. Not so much. Not when one candidate is cozying up to white supremacists. We can and should draw a line somewhere.

Did you catch any flies, Kim?
Jesus these are some terrible photos of her.

A Hillary fan who’s the same color as Trump.
Seriously, can we FINALLY just vote spray tans off the island?
They don’t look good on anyone and no, you don’t look “bronze”, you look ORANGE.

  2. minx says:

    Well, good.

  3. QQ says:

She Grossly underestimated how much the Internet was gonna drag her ass for it divided by the Amounts of Kim Calendar she was going to sell in Hicksville USA and so here we are… I will still repeat: That The Mother of Brown babies who has a Black Spouse thought this was even a Calculation to make is both Execrable and dovetails nicely with what we Know about the Kardashians

    • Hooboy! says:

A woman of color, with a mixed race child, and a family inclusive of blacks and she even contemplated voting for a hater like Trump? While I am glad she came out with a follow up statement, she still rates pretty low on my list. What was there to consider?

      • Hannah says:

@Hooboy! She knew this statement, after holding a fundraiser for Hillary and posting a seflie (you know Kim takes seflies very seriously), would cause a “polemic” situation and would atract even more “atention” to her, making her “clarify” her fake statement to a magazine in her payed app.

That’s her line on thought, not the fact she’s married to a black man, she has interracial kids, the fact a transgender person is defending a candidate that is against homossexuals and black people.

Kim is there for the kash.

      • Greenieweenie says:

I honestly think she doesn’t really know anything about politics. She might hear Caitlyn present Republicans as a viable party but this doesn’t mean she’s aware of anything going on. Hearing her talk (okay, seeing her write), she reminds me so much of my young students who heard enough from their parents to have a basic sketch of the political system but were too naive to grasp anything more.

    • HH says:

This whole fiasco makes me want to be crude. To paraphrase erica Garner: Just because you love black d*ck , doesn’t meant you care about black people.

Also, once again, CLASSIC example of cultural appropriation. She is wearing Black womanhood as costume, and does not give a damn about the well being of Black people.

If you want to talk about someone not getting it: Rachel Dolezal and Kim Kardashian are the BEST examples. So enmeshed in Black cultural and UTTERLY CLUELESS.

      • QQ says:

COME. THRU HH The Kardashians are Indeed The EPITOME of that quote through and Through, They Love Black D*ck and Taking from Black Culture, Sanitizing it then selling it back to White folks as Exotic

    • lilacflowers says:

      Applause!

    • Shaunna says:

      Kim,
America does not look to you to make statements on anything that requires above a 6th grade education. Go back to your selfies!

      • Jan says:

So true! This is exactly why I was surprised that anyone cared about what she says .! I thought we had established that pretty much anything that comes out of her mouth is either a lie , or said for attention , or money ! SMH

    • Jwoolman says:

Kimmie isn’t very deep. She basically goes whichever way the wind blows, whatever she thinks will get and keep the most fans. So yeah, she probably knows very little about Donald Trump and doesn’t really hang out with people who discuss such things. He claims to have a lot of money, which definitely attracts her attention. But she probably hasn’t even listened to what he’s saying (or what Hillary has been saying) and just decided on Hillary because she got blasted for even being on the fence about Cinnamon Hitler. Otherwise, she would have voted for Trump because the only person who did discuss it seriously with her (Caitlyn) is pro-Trump. It has never crossed her mind that there is a reason almost zero percent of African-Americans support Trump. Her own husband might be in that almost zero percent, since he is also impressed by money and an expensive lifestyle and thinks he’s beyond racism.

There are a lot of people like Kim. They are still making up their minds as they walk into the voting booth, if they get that far. The last person to talk to them is likely to decide their vote.

  4. Moon says:

That quote of hers about both candidates wanting having good intentions made me lol too.

  5. Mousyb says:

While im glad she finally outright said shes not voting for that monster, i find it strange she’s trying to be so diplomatic…the people voting for trump are in no way Kim (and definitely NOT Kanye) fans by any stretch of the imagination …. what is she playing at?

Or maybe she just needed some attention because of the Brangelina split…or right who am I kidding. Of COURSE thats what it was. =)

    • Jwoolman says:

Kim probably has no idea that she would be persona non grata amongst most Trump supporters. After all, her stepdad Caitlyn likes her and she’s voting for Trump. Surprised she doesn’t remember that Trump dissed her for being “fat” when she was pregnant.

Kim really doesn’t pay attention or think too hard about such things. There is a way to be respectful about other people’s decisions without pretending that Trump is anything but a racist, hateful, greedy demagogue. For starters, you can just say there’s no contest for you, your beliefs match Hillary’s far better and leave it at that without talking about Trump at all. Or just say that you prefer to keep your politics to yourself — she doesn’t have to be public about her vote.

But Kim doesn’t really know that Trump is a racist, hateful, greedy demagogue because she doesn’t listen carefully, so she can have her delusions that the situation is symmetric and he’s just a kindly old gentleman who will make a fine President and has the best interests of people other than himself at heart. She’s very self-centered herself, so his narcissism probably doesn’t bother her even if she notices it.

  6. susanne says:

    I like smart kim!

    • Fl girl says:

I like dumb Kim’s smart publicist. Now if only the people who would let Kim sway their opinion were old enough to vote…

      • lucy2 says:

Yeah, there is no way she wrote that all herself.

      • Jwoolman says:

Yes, we can be sure Kim didn’t write this! But she probably does care about gun control and legal access to abortion. She just doesn’t have the knowledge or ability to write the rest.

  7. Tiffany27 says:

Girl you have black children and a black husband. Why did you even fix your mouth to say you’re on the fence?????

ETA: QQ stated this already up top. Speak on it sis!!

    • OhDear says:

It’s actually disputed as to whether or not she said the comments re: Drumpf. The magazine that interviewed her (Wonderland) issued a statement that they never published or printed that quote.

      • Jwoolman says:

Her current statement seems to confirm that the quotes were correct. She’s just backtracking on them. If she hadn’t said it at all, she would just say so.

I dimly recall hearing that the quotes did not show up in the final version of the print interview, though.

    • Lolo86lf says:

I think she said she was on the fence because just like Caitlin Jenner she is very wealthy and Donald Trump would give rich people a break on income taxes.

  8. Saras says:

Trump is a racist who wants to start stop and frisk again. That will lead to more incarceration, distrust of police, and death. Anyone of color or who cares about them should vote against more unfair harassment! All the progress that has been made with gay, civil, and women’s rights will be flushed with Trump and Pence is even more scary. Remember he wanted to force that miscarriges be buried or cremated which is CRAZY!

    • KittenFarts says:

Totally agree! It’s actually unsafe to vote for Trump! Anyone who says they are voting for Trump, I always wonder if they are secretly racist. My boss is Indian & he is voting for Trump. At first I was shocked, I realized it’s bc he would never vote for a woman in office. So I think that’s contributes toward some of these Trump supporters. Sexiest or racist basically

      • lucy2 says:

That’s interesting – I know a really kind, smart, older guy who is from India and now lives in the US, and he’s voting for Trump. I couldn’t figure it out, as Trump would likely have the guy profiled, frisked, and thrown out of the county without a second thought, but I hadn’t thought about the “woman in power” angle. I wonder if that’s it, or he’s just super conservative or super confused.

      • Cran says:

In my experience POC who are not black or African think American racism doesn’t apply to them. They don’t get that American racism is color based. If you are not white you are other. I’m black & have been discriminated against by people from India whose skin tone is darker than the majority of my family. Without exception they are SHOCKED when they are treated as black Americans have always been treated. They never consider that the American concept of racism includes them and that they are considered other BECAUSE THEY ARE NOT WHITE. Supporting Trump will not change the fact that they are voting against their self interest.

      • Jwoolman says:

Remember the 18 year old Trump supporter of Indian heritage was shocked when he was tossed out of a Trump rally as a potential troublemaker. It really shook him up as well as his baffled parents (also Trump supporters, they might have actually been from India). I’m sure they didn’t think racism would be directed against them since they didn’t have any African in them and are actually Caucasian in the real sense. But their skin color determines their racial category here regardless. To Trump and his supporters, they are “the brown people” and immigrants who are to be suspected. No matter that they are probably comfortably middle class or above. Money doesn’t count, skin color does.

  9. Lolo86lf says:

I am not a KK fan by any stretch of the imagination. But her decision to endorse HC has endeared herself to me a little, not a lot! I hope she did it because she meant it not to avoid the wrath of media.

  10. Shambles says:

At first I wanted to be like, wow, good Kim. But then QQ and Tiffany brought up the very potent point that her husband and children are POC and she had the audacity to even float the idea that she was considering voting for Trump, and wtf is that? Thank you for continuing to open my mind, ladies.

  11. JudyK says:

Why in hell would ANYONE care who Kim Kardashian is going to vote for. She’s not my go-to source for being informed. Gagging.

    • Hannah says:

Unfortunately to the state of the world we live in, the Kardashians are a source of inspiration to many young people who aspire fake asses/lips/tan/way of life.

  12. me says:

A world where people care who Kim Kardashian votes for. Yikes !

    • Michelina says:

Cosign. I don’t understand why anyone was freaking out over this. Who cares? She’s not a politician. Her opinion on politics means nothing. Half of her fans probably won’t vote anyway.

  13. lilacflowers says:

Way to call attention to yourself by inserting yourself into the presidential race. Now, Kim, go sit over in the corner way, way over there with Gennifer Flowers and the other non-entities. That is, after you read what QQ and HH had to say about you above.

  14. Smh, I’m just eternally grateful that when people start squawking some nonsense about how this child is secretly intelligent and underneath the porn shots shes a successful political woman she consistently proves them wrong through HER OWN actions.

I don’t care how many black people are around the Kardashians, they sleep with, they have babies with or etc. I honestly do not EVER expect them to get it.

  15. Dominique says:

She knew what she was doing making that comment, don’t fall for it. She has always been in the camp of “any publicity is good publicity”.

  16. nicegirl says:

So she is not as stupid as she pretends, then?

    GO HILLARY

  17. Trixie says:

“both candidates have the intention of making the country a safer and stronger place for every American”

NO! One candidate does, but the other one only cares about straight white males.
