Prince Harry stepped out for veterans as Meghan Markle completed her India trip

Here are some photos of Prince Harry’s Monday visit to the Help for Heroes Recovery Centre in Wilshire. He was checking out the work the organization does to support veterans, and it sounds a lot like the Wounded Warrior Project here in America (which is to say, a great organization). Harry is at his best, I feel, when he’s doing work with and for veterans, and he’s carved out a big place in veterans’ issues over the past five years. I believe the issue is big enough and important enough that some other royal family members could also join Harry, but for the most part, he’s representing these issues by himself.

Reportedly, Meghan Markle was by Harry’s side for weeks – she arrived in London in late December, then they had a week’s vacation in Norway, and then they went back to London and she was staying at his place. Now we’ve learned that Meghan actually did go on her five-day trip to India after all. She was photographed at a Mumbai airport over the weekend, where she was apparently flying out of India after her humanitarian trip. As for her work in India… she’s a goodwill ambassador for World Vision, and her trip was part of the organization’s Rise Up! Daughters of India initiative. Meghan met with girls and women in the slums of Delhi, with a focus on health, wellness and education issues. Fascinatingly enough, a big part of the conversation was about menstruation and how “23 percent of girls having to drop out of full-time education after starting their periods.” It would have been amazing for the Duchess of Cambridge to tackle that kind of issue, right? But no.

If you’d like to read more about Meghan’s trip, go here – Us Weekly had a very detailed story about it, which I don’t hate. Meaning, I don’t hate that Meghan is using the interest in her dating life to push stories to Us Weekly and People Magazine about the worthy and interesting charity work that she’s involved with.

I know the DM is a piece of crap, but the people writing in are absolutely vicious about her for no real reason. I hope she never reads those comments!

Meghan seems sweet and well-spoken and actually does a good amount of charity work. I have a tiny girl crush 😍
Totally speculative and probably won’t happen but if her and Harry did get married I actually think she’d use her new position to do good work.

I would not call the Wounded Warrior Project a “great organization,” although its stated mission is admirable and I sincerely hope it rebuilds its reputation and culture after the scandals of last year:

    • Sixer says:

I wouldn’t call Help For Heroes a great organisation either, but for different reasons.

It does fantastic work, undoubtedly. But, as a charity, it spends money on things that really should be the responsibility of the Ministry of Defence (and always were before its inception), it has been guilty of prioritising current enlistees over veterans (again, what the MoD is for), and has had a significant effect of hoovering up many of the donations that previously went to small, local, grassroots charities for veterans, leaving them short of cash or having to close altogether.

Mr Sixer, a veteran, HATES Help For Heroes.

      • Nilber says:

Unfortunately I stand with Mr Sixer on this one. Wounded warriors and like organizations are founded on great principles and their cause is very relevant but money corrupts so many times. I am for any organization helping out veterans but before you start sending money please do your research. I would honestly advise looking close to home.
A lot of places need help with what they are trying to accomplish.
Two organizations that I know of that are wonderful are
        http://www.veteranshealingfarm.org
        &
        http://www.hopesanddreamsridingfacility.com

There are places like this that don’t have the big bucks coming in but do a lot to help our veterans.

I wonder when we’ll realise that we can acknowledge MM without slamming DK. And nah don’t tell me it’s about her (lack of) work. It’s just pure hate most of the time. She gets ragged on for her clothing, smile, face, body, husband, what her husband thinks of her, how much her husband loves her…. It’s sickening. I’ve been a daily visitor on this site every weekday since 2010. I thought it was a good place with intelligent comments but these days the comments on the DK threads have me scratching my head. Nope, it’s not constructive criticism because DK is definitely not seeing it. Angelina Jolie Doesn’t get as much “concern” for her weight and Good Lord knows she’s skinnier. Jennifer Aniston used to get the most hate before but since MM it’s almost like “let’s put her down some more”. I’ll be staying off these threads henceforth do happy bashing.
Unrelated but I’m rooting for MM and PH even though I think MM is the most basic and vanilla of them all (I’ve been to her blog so I have the receipts) but I’ll always root for a sista before some privileged white chick. Might be just me but I actually find her as uninteresting as DK… Way less if I’m being honest

    • K says:

I’m with you on Angelina and Aniston..but no way is MM less interesting than DK!

    • Luca76 says:

Except Kate married into a title and is in effect a public servant. I’m not English but I think it’s completely fair to critique her and her husband for their epic laziness and to hope that she’s shamed into doing her responsibilities by seeing someone like Meghan do humanitarian work. I don’t ever comment on her looks etc.

    • Bitsy says:

👏👏👏 never understood the DoC bashing either, given its obvious how little control she has in that role. Even during dating years, it wasn’t like she could’ve worked a regular job with that type of attention. Any promotion or praise would’ve been considered unfair given the circumstances.

      • graymatters says:

The palace actually commented on this during the dating years when they stated that Kate had NEVER received any sort of instructions regarding her inability to work. Similar to comments post-wedding when they’ve commented that she sets her own schedule.

Even if you are correct, what stopped her from doing more charity work? In they years between graduation and marriage, she did a few PP bags for sick kids and attended a few gala fundraisers. She signed up for the rowing thing and then dropped it as soon as Will came back around. I think it was inexcusable for her to leave her team like that.

      • Nic919 says:

Both Diana and Sophie worked when they were dating. Kate is lazy. There is no other excuse.

    • Paula says:

I agree. I’m all for criticizing her laziness and pushing her to work more, but the comments on her body/clothes have become really nasty. Last time she wore a pair of jeggings people were short of calling her a wh*re for it.

      • KoolaidGuurrl says:

I’ve been seeing more and more of these types of comments and I tend to agree.
I read a beautiful and well written post about the Women’s March on this site, and then proceed to read a post about a women constantly being thrown under the bus for little to no reason, even when she has nothing to do with conversation.
And it seems as if the same people tell you that she is lazy, and married for the position, but never ever talk about what is being complained about.
The weight shaming, hair shaming, skin shaming, intelligence shaming, speculation on her kids and husband’s relationships. All being stated as facts, like everyone knows these people personally.
No one denies that it is wrong, instead they give you a million reasons why it is right.
Then again, I notice that some people are given a pass while others are forever condemned.

Harry popularity seems to dip but I know a lot of you guys will say I’m lying.

    • Lobbit says:

But how are you assessing his popularity? Daily Mail comments? A poll?

    • AT says:

You are literally commenting this on every damn article her and on the Daily Mail. Daily Mail comments say nothing about the popularity on an individual. Trump is LOVED there, so Harry not being loved by the same commentators is actually a good thing.

  6. Anare says:

Prince Harry looks so thin. Is that boy eating?

  7. Lilac says:

What happened to the matching bracelets?

  8. Mary Carol says:

CDAN is blinding that MM has over played her hand, and PH is off her hook. It could be true. When Cressida got too clingy, and reportedly thought she was pregnant, Harry ran. Her family did call a family meeting, supposedly to coordinate the push for Harry, and he was gone the next day. MM may have gotten ahead of herself, and he didn’t like it. They spent too much time out of bed, and she talked like the deal was done, or he found out she had gone off the pill wishing for a pregnancy. Time will tell.

Am I the only one who wants Michael K to type something creative about that last picture?
