Tom Brady doesn’t get why his friendship with Emperor Baby Fists is a ‘big deal’

Last year, there was a lot of angst about the idea that Tom Brady and Donald Trump were and are friends. Tom Brady had a “Make America Great Again” hat in his locker, and Brady made some odd statements about the election and politics in general, leaving the impression that A) he really doesn’t follow politics and B) he probably did vote for Donald Trump, not because Brady supports Trump’s views but because Brady and Trump are friends. A day before the election, Tom was under such pressure to explain his association with Baby Fists that he admitted that Gisele told him not to talk about politics ever again.

Well, now that the Patriots are going to the Super Bowl again and now that Emperor Baby Fists is Despot For Life, what does Tom have to say about it?

Tom Brady has opened up on his friendship with Donald Trump, but it’s not a subject he appears to want to delve into much further. Brady, a day after leading the Patriots back to another Super Bowl, spoke about his relationship with Trump on his weekly appearance on WEEI’s Kirk and Callahan show.

According to Trump, who made the remarks at a pre-inaugural dinner that included Patriots owner Robert Kraft, Brady called the new president to offer his congratulations before the inauguration. On Monday, Brady was asked if he would confirm he had called him.

“I have called him, yes, in the past,” Brady said. “Sometimes he calls me. Sometimes I call him. But, again, that’s been someone I’ve known. I always try to keep it in context because for 16 years you know someone before maybe he was in the position that he was in. He’s been very supportive of me for a long time. It’s just a friendship. I have a lot of friends. I call a lot of people.”

Brady added: “Why does that make such a big deal? I don’t understand that.”

Brady then was asked on the show about having conversations with women who may not like Trump.

“I don’t want to get into it, but if you know someone, it doesn’t mean you agree with everything they say or they do,” Brady said. “You have a lot of friends in your life. I think there are things that are based in your own dealings with someone that is a personal dealing, not a public dealing. Because you have personal experiences.”

[From CNN]

Yeah… again, this white, male privilege, living in one of the biggest and vaguest bubbles in the world. I truly believe that Tom Brady doesn’t understand why people would have a problem with him buddying up to Baby Fists. He doesn’t get that many people believe racists, sexists, homophobes and Nazis flock together. He doesn’t get many people – women, POCs, the LGBTQ community, immigrants – see Baby Fists as a threat to their very existence, and a threat to democracy. It’s because Tom can’t see past his own nose when it comes to anything other than football.

I have always loathed Tom Baby. I’m so thankful I have a justifiable reason to now.

  2. alfaQ says:

He always sounds so dumb when he opens his mouth.

  3. Shambles says:

Yep. What’s the big deal? He’s only destroying the country. Textbook white male privilege. It doesn’t affect him so he doesn’t care.

    Earth to Tom:
Usually, counting someone as your friend means that you generally accept the kind person that they are to the point that you want to be around them. Given what we’re seeing in front of our faces, that doesn’t look good on you, dude.

    • doofus says:

I think he’s just SO focused on football and SO intellectually/socially/politically incurious that he doesn’t realize what a d-bag Drumpf really is. it’s the privilege. and the DUH factor. Dude knows football and not much else.

      • Emily says:

No. This whole conversation started because Brady put a “Make America Great Again” hat in his locker, where anyone interviewing him could clearly see it. It was only later, when he realized maybe not everyone thought Trump was really going to MAGA (and rumors that his wife told him to shut up about politics) did he want to start backing away from this relationship. He’s just trying to play both sides of the fence now, and to me that’s just annoying.

    • Rico Shew says:

How can people like Brady support Trump? I’m guessing a lot of conservatives don’t agree with the criticisms of Trump. So when people call him a racist misogynistic fascist they probably just see it as being the biased opinions of liberals rather than facts. On the other hand some conservatives probably know he’s a bigot and like him for it because they’re bigots too.

      • Veronica says:

Because he’s a wealthy white man, and wealthy white men have never had to worry about the consequences of their decisions.

      • Lorelai says:

Because Brady will likely see a sizable decrease in his/Gisele’s taxes under Trump.

However, I don’t even know if he’s smart or informed enough to realize this, or if he’s just talking out his ass.

  4. Megan says:

Has he been playing without his helmet?

  5. Syko says:

Birds of a feather. Two assholes.

    • MellyMel says:

      Exactly!

    • Lucy says:

On that note I’m judging the hell out of Giselle for marrying him, and to further that she’s a freaking immigrant from Brazil, it’s people who are in situations like she was that are being threatened by the burnt cheeto I just don’t understand how Tom can support Trump when his own wife was in the position that Trump is so against? Or are hot models an exception to Trump’s stance?
People really confuse me, my cousin in Arizona (I’m in Canada) married a Mexican woman, she and her father came to the USA illegally 15 years ago and she voted for Trump…HOW?!! Her justification is basically well we got away with it but others shouldn’t have the privilege and she looks down on Mexican immigrants now, like she was never in their position, it’s just sick.
My Cuban husband is so scared to go to the US, we planned a trip to Disney for our daughters birthday but he plain refuses to step in the country now because he’s hispanic and biracial and has a very strong accent.

      • Evie says:

Gisele is a privileged Brazilian “white” woman. She was born in a part of the country where most people are blue eyes and blonde. She doesn’t even care about Brazil, she only comes here to visit her family and to make money.

      • Lauren says:

Yeah you’re excluded if you are white and hot. That’s why Melania gets a pass in the eyes of Trump supporters (let’s completely ignore that she worked without having the right visa for it).

      • teacakes says:

to be fair to Gisele, she answered with a very definite NO! when asked if she had voted for Agent Orange (or if she/Brady had both voted) and had the sense to tell him to stfu and not talk politics.

And also she married him what, a decade ago when no one saw any of this coming.

Drumpf support is not an easy thing to predict – I was horrified to find it in my own family, among my California-dwelling cousins (their thinking: he’s only keeping out the Mexicans and Muslims, we’re the “good” kind of brown, we won’t be affected! )

      • Lorelai says:

Not that this isn’t the least of your concerns at the moment, but I’m sorry about your trip to Disney. It is awful that your husband feels that way. And terrifying that people now feel that way about the US!

      • JRenee says:

        Spot on!

    • B n A fn says:

A cheat and a liar always go together. They are a perfect match. They are both cheaters and liars.

      • Kyre says:

Exactly. White male privilege is in part getting to cheat without consequence – something both these men do every damn day.

  6. QQ says:

I Couldnt read the article, cause No, F*ck That, But what struck me is like… Ya’ll can be serious that this man is attractive … He look like Frankenstein or the previous developmental stage before the Homo sapiens

    • LaraK says:

He’s a white, fairly clean-cut athlete who makes millions. For many, that’s enough.
I find him very uninteresting – he looks and sounds so vapid. It’s hard to be attracted to someone so lacking depth.

      • Embee says:

@LaraK him being a white and clean cut athlete isn’t really it. He truly is the best ever and yes he is attractive to many

      • swak says:

Embee, he’s the best ever until the next one comes along. And yes there is a next one. Very few stand the test of time.

    • Shambles says:

      Lmao.

Maybe that’s why he’s so great at football. All he knows how to do is grunt, run, throw things, and push people over.

He’s a literal Neanderthal. I find zero sexy when I look at him

    • Neelyo says:

He does have rather a Cro Magnon brow, doesn’t he?

    • detritus says:

If republicans could ask god to make a man, it would look like Tom Brady.

Chads make my bits wither into dust, so he’s a hard pass for me.

      • QQ says:

I’m properly crying at this comment cause it rings so absolutely ass true to me

      • detritus says:

        Girl.
        YOUR HAIR.

HOT AF and looking all smart bitches slay with those glasses.

Now the real question, FMK – Brady, Pitt, Chris Pratt. Chad the athlete, Chad the midlife crisis hot dad, and Chad the actor.

      • QQ says:

LOL I’m keeping it for a week Since my boss is outright delighted then add the purple slowly??!

FMK *Difficult Noise* Ummmmmm I guessSame exact Chad Order you posited, F*ck Sexy Surgery Dad Chad, Marry ( why?, God) XXXTREME XTIAN UNT FRAT BRO Super DAD Chad and then definitely Kill Neantherdal Ball Running Chad

    • Veronica says:

I’ve never gotten it either. My friend calls Tom Brady Gisele’s “trophy husband,” and I’m just like, “Only if it’s a participation trophy.”

    • doofus says:

“He look like Frankenstein or the previous developmental stage before the Homo sapiens”

I have always thought this; that’s why he’s LURCH to me.

    • Erinn says:

      This.
Honestly. HONESTLY. How is this man considered even ‘good looking’ let alone the level of hotness people attribute to him?

He does not have a good face, which is fine – but why claim he’s attractive. I know it’s subjective, but COME ON. And his haircuts! We had a good time ribbing Bieber about his hair the other day, but Brady tends to rock a very weird looking bowl cut.

And then he opens his mouth, and it doesn’t improve any of the other issues.

      • Meredith says:

I swear, he used to be more attractive because I used to think he was hot. But then starting around Deflategate, I started noticing his caveman brow more and more. Maybe it became more prominent (if that sort of thing can happen)? They say by the time you’re 40 you get the face you deserve and Tom is 39 right now…

    • Kri says:

@QQ I so much agree with you on this. I never got the hot he is said to have. One bolt on each side of his neck and close the laboratory.

      • EscapedConvent says:

Yes. I always thought he looked like the Creature. Glad it’s not just me seeing that.

    • shannon says:

He’s like Jerry’s girlfriend in that one Seinfeld episode when she looked good in certain lighting and not so attractive in other lighting. That is Tom Brady for me. He can look cute in some pictures, really icky in others.

      Remember the court drawings?

    • Lorelai says:

He looks so bad in these pictures that he makes Twitler look…not terrible. That is quite a feat – to be seated next to Trump and look pretty much as ugly!

  7. Slowsnow says:

He makes it sound like a fart. Sometimes I fart, sometimes he farts. We all fart, why am I to blame. Other friends of mine fart too.

  8. Aims says:

I was told you are the company you keep.

  9. Indiana Joanna says:

Brady’s dim, “Wayne’s World” behaviour during deflategate was a shock for me in revealing how much of an idiot he is. Brady may be a great quarterback but he is stupid as hell.

  10. Digital Unicorn (aka Betti) says:

He always struck me as the US version of David Beckham. Not very bright and reasonably easy on the eye if he only keeps his gob shut.

  11. Nancy says:

Two good old white rich boys. Crazy is as crazy does. We are all being trumped. Waiting to see pigs fly.

  12. Lyka says:

But like, if my casual friend of 16 years was on tape bragging about sexual assault, or saying an American judge can’t be unbiased because he’s Latino, or going on a thinly veiled hate campaign against a president simply for existing while black, or brazenly discrediting a genuine hero’s Gold Star family because they’re Muslim, or alleging that most immigrants are terrorists/rapists, or associating with white supremacists, I’D RETHINK THAT FRIENDSHIP.

This whole “Well I’ve known him for a long time” schtick is boring and cowardly and GO FALCONS.

  13. AnotherDirtyMartini says:

Trump, Brady, Gisele. All filthy rich. All morons.

  14. anonymous says:

He is trash ! Gisele looks like she has decent values I don’t know how she stays with that man. As a matter of fact I don’t know how decent people stay married to Trump supporters.

    • Miss M says:

Read teacakes’s comment. When Gisele was asked if she would vote for Trump she answered “No” and she did tell Brady to shut it and stay away from politics…

  15. Lambda says:

Hey, Brady, have some mushrooms and bell pepper before the Superbowl!

    You clod.

  16. Veronica says:

My sister and I were discussing this last night about how many Trump supporters Just. Don’t. Get. It. For them, it’s a “libtard” issue, the equivalent of political sour grapes, as though the country hasn’t already lived through a Republican president who won the electoral over the popular vote. It really doesn’t occur to them that this was a moral reckoning for many people. It fundamentally changed our idea of the kind of person you are if you voted for this man. Over and over again, I’ve had to explain to people that ACTIONS SPEAK LOUDER THAN WORDS. It doesn’t matter if you didn’t agree with the nastier elements of his running – if you decided to put party over nation, you tacitly supported all of that. And you don’t get to remove yourself from the responsibility of your choices now, even if you regret it.

  17. robyn says:

What a lucky man to have such a beautiful family. He’s in a tight spot about Trump and he is trying to sit on the fence. For all we know his kids play with Ivanka’s kids and the ties are deeper than realized.

    • Juls says:

I don’t know y’all. It sounds to me, based on his word salad, that he is trying to distance himself from Trump without totally going against him. Maybe Tom’s afraid of Gisele. Or maybe he has a real fear that if he denounces Trump, Cheeto will try to have Gisele deported. Crazy, but not outside the realm of possibility with this madman, and maybe Tom knows from experience that Trump truly is insane. And I’m no fan of Tom.

  18. Lolamd says:

Isn’t Gisele pro environment? Wonder what that conversation is like in their household.

  19. Heather says:

Oh my. Y’all know I love the Pats here (along with Kitten), but even I have to give my Brady the side eye for not denouncing the actions of his “friend.” I would love to know what goes on behind closed doors. I follow Giselle on instagram and when this story first came out folks were commenting on her feed about how they dislike Trump and could not support Gis and Tom if they could support such a man. Giselle herself came back to say “NO!!!” in response to a person who asked her if they were voting for Trump. Then a few weeks ago, Brady said “my wife told me not to talk politics” or something to that effect. My take on it is, Giselle doesn’t support Trump but maybe Tom does just because that is his “golf buddy” or whatever. I am not sure what to make of it all, but I do have friends and family who voted for Trump and I am not going to dump them because of it – though we sure have argued about it!

    • teacakes says:

My impression is that Gisele has her own political opinions, I don’t know why people are going after her for Brady’s ‘he’s my friend’ bs.

I mean, that NO! earns her more respect from me than her husband will ever get.

    • Lightpurple says:

Brady has made a point for over a decade that he will not discuss politics and he will not endorse candidates. He is also friendly with John Kerry but didn’t endorse him and he didn’t endorse Romney, who very much wanted that endorsement and he did not endorse Trump. He is very friendly with the Shriver family.

  20. dappadaph says:

He just another one trying to normalize Trump abhorrent behavior…….

    http://thelab.bleacherreport.com/donald-trump-is-tearing-the-nfl-apart/

  21. me says:

What do these two have in common is the question? What do they talk about with each other? Yuck.

    • OriginallyBlue says:

I wondered the same thing. There is a generation between them. Tom is a healthy athlete and 45 is a disgusting pig. I guess they bond over rich white guy stuff idk.

    • Lorelai says:

I wondered that when Trump met with Kanye recently. WTH did they talk about??

  22. Brit says:

I give credit to Gisele for her emphatehic no when asked if they were supporting trump, her work on climate change and her attending and support of the women’s march.

It does seem like he has no idea that he sounds privileged as hell, and doesn’t seem to realize who will be affected by trumps policies.

  23. Jennifer says:

Brady is a sniveling baby, as much of a baby as Trump.

  24. Dee says:

I am no fan of Tom Brady…..never have been. Deflategate was a joke.

    (rIse up Falcons!)

But so he and The Donald are friends. Where does anyone get off telling adults who they can and can’t, should and shouldn’t, be friends with? seriously wtf?

Heck, it didn’t work when your mama did it when you were 14 and it doesn’t work with grown adults.

I judge Tom for being the smug, arrogant, pompous pro athlete he is all on his own merits. Th Donald has nothing to do with how I feel about Tom, nor vice versa.

  25. jana says:

As if I needed one more reason to despise either one of them.

    • Kathleen says:

Eh, that doesn’t mean anything. Plenty of white people have poc in their families but it’s like they make an exception for that one person but still can’t conceptualize that white privilege exists and has a massive impact on the larger community.

  26. minx says:

Pampered rich dumb white jock said what?

  27. Kathleen says:

I’ve always found Tom Brady to be a smug jerk so thanks for confirming that I was right all along. Ugh to him.

  28. adastraperaspera says:

They are buds from way back. Brady first met trump when he was asked to judge one of trump’s beauty pageants (2002 Miss USA), about 15 years ago. Trump entertained Brady with lots of “models” and told Howard Stern later that he thought Brady and his daughter Ivanka “would make a great combination.” It’s pretty clear that the “model” connections that trump introduced Brady into led to his meeting Gisele. They are very close.

  29. hogtowngooner says:

This guy’s such an idiot. How hard is it to just say, “I don’t comment on politics”???

And this guy, being a millionaire sports star, is totally safe from Trump’s policies. Thing is, when it comes to climate change, your money won’t make you any safer than the rest of us poors.

  30. Embee says:

Trump better not show up at the Super Bowl! He has work to do at the White House and someone can tell him about it later. Go Pats!!!!!!

  31. Erica_V says:

I love Tom Brady. He could burn my house down and I’d still wear his jersey and root for him on Sundays.

That said – he needs to STFU. Whoever Tom thinks Cheeto was for the past 16 years of their friendship is not who he is now. He needs to stop calling him because Cheeto can’t hold his wad and stop himself from telling everyone that Tom called him. We need no distractions. We need no more hate. We need Tom to STFU.

Tom has been calling into their show weekly for probably about 10 years now so they tend to pull more candid comments from him than anyone else. Kirk HATES Cheeto and blasts Brady for it. Gerry is a Cheeto supporter. It makes for an interesting show.

  32. EscapedConvent says:

That’s sweet—that first picture where they’re leaning in, holding their heads together like they’re on a date.

I never had a good impression of Tom Brady. Now I see his taste in friends is heinous.

  33. Marley says:

Despite all evidence to the contrary a lot of conservatives don’t see Trump as a bigot or a misogynist. So when you ask them how they can support such a reprehensible character they genuinely don’t what you’re talking about.

    • Tate says:

It’s like they didn’t watch the hate filled rallies that the rest of us did.

    • naomipaige says:

I guess in their cases, ignorance is bliss! In my opinion, it certainly says a lot about their character. I’m sorry, lack of character. If you ask me, nothing but a bunch of dumba**es!!!

  34. cindyp says:

I heard the radio interview where he was asked about calling Trump. I honestly believed that he didn’t & his hesitance to answer was because of that. This is absolutely something Trump would lie about because that’s what he does. That being said, I do think he’s a dumb jock who lives in his insular bubble. I don’t think he’s interested in anything but football & keeping in shape. Robert Kraft in another matter. His late wife was from a wealthy philanthropic family, from my home town, who gave him his start. She would never support bigot Trump.
