The Game of Thrones season 7 trailer needs more dragons, Gendry & Littlefinger

Desert Trip Weekend 2 Day 3

Well, HBO finally released a real trailer for the seventh season of Game of Thrones. Except not really. Like, I don’t consider this a real trailer. To be fair, Game of Thrones trailers are usually not that revealing at all. The purpose is always to build anticipation, not to give you any kind of clues about what happens next or anything like that. The trailers are sort of famous for being insanely cryptic. So, this trailer is more of the same. The song overlay is James’ “Sit Down.” Which I don’t think is the right mood-music for this kind of anticipation. It’s more wink-nudge and the music should have been THUNDER and DRAGONS and ICE DRAMA.

So what we know for sure is that Season 7 will be very heavy on Dany, Jon and Cersei. While I was here for Cersei’s regal bitchery in the last half of Season 6, seeing her smug little smile as WINTER IS HERE is enough to make me want to see her get burned alive by wildfire. Like, girl, what do you have to be smug about? Oh, you’ve got Kings Landing WHO CARES? Dany has dragons and an armada of thousands. Jon is King of the North. Kings Landing is nothing. If you’re wondering about the “throne” Dany is sitting on, the internet nerds believe that is the throne of Dragonstone, known as the seat of the Targaryens. Jon’s throne is a humble seat at Winterfell, right? That represents that he is the heir of Winterfell and the King of the North, I would assume.

What else… no Bran in this trailer. No Littlefinger. No Sansa. No Arya. No Jamie. No GHOST. No Sam and Gilly. And no bloody Gendry. I sincerely hope we get at least a glimpse of Gendry before this show ends. In an ideal world, Sansa would end up married to Gendry and they would make hot Baratheon-Stark babies. Either that of Gendry would be given to badass Lady Mormont as her hot man-servant.

This sh-t isn’t coming out until July!!! GAH.

    *squee* Cannot wait!!!

I ship Gendry and Arya plus I really want Sansa to give it to Littlefinger, Ramsey Bolton dog eat dog style.

    • Lightpurple says:

Definitely Gendry and Arya. Heals the rift between Starks and Baratheons who were close in the beginning.

And spoilers say Hot Pie is back this season too.

    • lannisterforever says:

Yeah, I’ve never heard of anyone shipping Sansa and Gendry – they’ve never even met!

      Gendrya all the way <3

      • Cheryl says:

All I want Sansa to do with Gendry is stand up at his wedding and make his bride’s wedding dress Stark-tastic like only she can…

    • Cheryl says:

I want Sansa and Arya to do Littlefinger together.

They need a project. I just wish I felt like they were going to get more screen time.

I just feel like this season is going to be Dany having endless meet-and-greets.

  2. Heat says:

Let us not forget, all we got was a wall of faces in last season’s trailer. Hopefully we’ll get a few more snippits to tide us over until July.
    I CAN’T WAIT!!!!!!!

    • LadyMTL says:

GoT is sort of known (infamous?) these days for being all sneaky-ish with their trailers and previews. I like it, IMHO it helps build anticipation. I can’t wait for July, but it makes me sad that it’s going to be a short season…all of that waiting and we don’t even get our 10 episodes.

Still! I am excited! I want Cersei to get roasted by one of Dany’s dragons. Or eaten. Or roasted and then eaten, lol.

    • Jenns says:

They tend to release things in phases. I think we’ll get a full trailer in May. Then another trailer in June. And probably sometime between now and then, we’ll get some stills from a few episodes.

  3. Lindy79 says:

It needs more everything but I’m hopeful we will get more before July

  4. Anitas says:

    This is awesome!

Cersei looks amazing, her dress is so fierce. The spiked collar is especially awesome, protection against getting strangled maybe? I love what she’s done with the place too. Her icy breath in the end, wow. Winter’s come to Kings Landing. Perhaps a reminder that all the mighty kings and queens and their petty squabbles are still at the mercy of a force much bigger than them?

Jon looks kingly at last, not like he just smelled your fart.

Littlefinger is at the end of his story line, he’s played his part but the chaos he unleashed is so much bigger than him or his stupid ambitions. He’ll stir some shit before he goes no doubt, but I expect him to be offed this season.

‘Sit Down’ works great if you pay attention to the lyrics and the way they’re matched to each character.

    • BangersandMash says:

      I LOOVE CERSEI!!!!

I know it says a lot about me to love that woman, but I can’t help myself. She is 100% her father’s child. Ambitious, heartless, careless and she has been a pulsating d*ck blister on all the men in King’s Landing, trying to take on that position of power, feeling all entitled because they have penises. She slayed them with a glass of Merlot on her right hand, and rocking the sh*t out of her medieval Tom Ford couture winter/fall collection.

She is without a doubt THE most worthy villain to come into GoT territory.

Like Maleficent, she just shows up like… “Ex boyfriend, I’m gonna kill you, kill all of your guests, wait until your baby is a fully developed young adult so that she can hear and understand every last word coming out my mouth before I kill her, just cause you had the NERVE not to invite me to this medieval block party. Why don’t you take that out for a little spin, ex boyfriend?!”

Cersai Lannister, first of her name… everything men fear and despise in women but fear and RESPECT in men = Cersei.

      YAAAASSSSSSS QUEEN!!!

      • Sayrah says:

I love Cersei too but it’s like I have to feel ashamed telling other people that, lol.

      • BangersandMash says:

        I share your shame.
But also, I think we need to unite before the end is here. We need to share our love, and which aspects or scenes and moments of Cersei that we admire or love. I mean, I think we know, Khaleesi is taking the throne, but I hope Cersei is every godd*mn thing I think she is, and is gonna give the haters a RUN for their money.

My ex HATED Cersei, and every opportunity he had he would call her a b*tch… And the intensity he had when calling her that… WHOA!!

The day I fell in love with Cersei, was that moment between her and Lord Baelish. Where he said, “Information is power” trying to blackmail her with her relations with Jaime, and then she turned around, and got her goons to slit his throat, but then changed her mind, and said, “POWER… is power!”

I was like… whooooooo!!! *clap back*

AND the shame scene, where that crusty old man was busy shoving his religion down her throat forced her to walk naked in the streets. Her bravery, her grace, her firey spirit….

Shameful, as I am, I can’t NOT respect and love her style. She doesn’t apologise her way through power, she OWNS it.

      • Sayrah says:

        @bangers

I was giddy watching her water board septa unella with wine last season. I felt a little icky for it after she sent the mountain in there to do whatever he ended up doing but that moment with the wine boarding her was sweet vengeance.

      • Pdxari says:

This comment was so amazing and I would like to subscribe to your newsletter!! 😉

    • lannisterforever says:

Cersei is my favorite fictional character of all time. No shame (pun intended)

      • Sansa says:

Yes the Cersei chapters are the best in the books too. GRRM really had that character down in every way clearly drawn and so entertaining. The HBO production Lena Hedley do a perfect job here.

      • Digital Unicorn (aka Betti) says:

Cersei is a great character in the books but Lena Hedley adds so much more to the screen Cersei – that role really show cases her talent.

  5. Zan says:

The music was so disapointing !! It didn’t fit GOT at all.
Give me some big medieval dubstep beat plz!

    • HK9 says:

I hated the music too and they usually do that so well…I guess you can’t have everything.

  6. alona says:

The GOT 7 trailer needs more decent music. And more Jaime.

  7. Jenns says:

    GIVE IT TO ME NOW!

This is more of a teaser than a trailer. I loved it, especially with The Night King’s. If you look closely, you see the reflection of the wall in his eye. I’m so excited for more white walker action, because when they show up, sh*t goes down. And given what leaked for season 7, we’re in for it.

  8. Aiobhan Targaryen says:

This seems more like a teaser trailer than a real trailer for the season, but I still love it.

My two favorite Queens… and Jon. Queen Dany finally wearing her family’s signature clothing makes me squee with childish joy. It is going to be interesting watching her fully embrace her Targ nature this season. I hope they don’t write Tyrion into a lot of her scenes and have him chewing up the scenery. Last season was frustrating enough to watch him being ott while Dany just sat there and watched him without responding to his nonsense.

Cersei looks like a total badass. While I love Cersei, I agree she should be dead by now. I have no clue why they are keeping her alive other than the fact that the writers really love the Lannisters and will do anything to have that stupid family stay around as long as possible.

    • Div says:

Cackling at the “and Jon” part. I’ve always found him so meh. I want more Cesei, Dany, Sansa, Jaime, and then Jon can come last.

  9. Lightpurple says:

    DROGON!
    RHAEGON!
    VISERION!
    GHOST!
NYMERIA! – she had better show up now that Arya is back in Westeros

  10. laur says:

I haven’t seen any GOT yet as I wanted to read the books first – I was disappointed that the show strays from the actual plot of the books (quite far in some cases) but will still watch it all one day. The books are pretty heavy-going so I’m looking forward to the show being a little less so. I refuse to pay for Sky in the UK just for the odd good show like this so will have to find some other way to watch it!

    • Lindy79 says:

My brother in law is the same, wants to finish the books first, so hasn’t watched any of the show. Are you hopeful that GRR Martin will complete them?

      • laur says:

I hope so! The seventh book is due this year sometime so we shall see! I think I’ll get annoyed at all the differences between the book and the show though lol.

      • Jenns says:

“The seventh book is due this year sometime”

        LOL.

      • Lindy79 says:

        HAHA Jenns

      • Amelie says:

Seeing as how Book 6 hasn’t come out yet with no announced date of publication, I quite doubt Book 7 is coming out this year.

    • M.A.F. says:

I still have not finished Dance of Dragons. I started it then put it down. Show ended up passing it. Some day I’ll go back to it.

    • Lightpurple says:

@Laur, the 7th book was due two years ago sometime.

      A girl must wait.

      • Sansa says:

Even the show is being dragged out with 14 episodes over 2 seasons over a year apart. My 89 year old mum is like ‘I spent 6 years on this show am I going to make it to see the ending’. Something very Unsatisfying watching characters for years just be killed off but then that GOT.

      • Laur says:

I only got into it last year so am like come on come on come on finish that book!!

    • Janetdr says:

I saw the first season (on Netflix) then bought all of the books. I still watch on Netflix, even though it’s a long wait. I kind of like reading online about what’s happening first anyhow, it lessens the tension for me. As well as knowing what the inevitable differences from the books are so it bothers me less. All I want is more Arya and of course her direwolf!

  11. Lightpurple says:

And, of course, the most burning question of all: who will Brienne choose? Jaimie? The Hound? Tormund?

    • Lindy79 says:

HAHA what a rogues gallery for her to choose.
I know Jamie is the prettiest but urgh the whole Cersie thing.

I’m rooting for Tormund, I love the character and his interactions with her last season were beyond hilarious.

Not sure The Hound will ever forgive her for winning that fight although he might go all Tormund on her. Hopefully they will be interacting this season!

      • third ginger says:

Can’t we get an interesting, smart, heroic man for her? Miss Christie is everything, as the kids say.

      • Lindy79 says:

None of the above really apply then. I dont think there are any in GoT in all fairness

    • justcrimmles says:

      ^^THIS over Gendry and whomever.

    • Jenns says:

I’m more looking forward to Brienne taking Oathkeeper and kicking some white walker butt.

I think she could give those ice boys a run for their money.

    • Lightpurple says:

      Or maybe Jaqen H’ghar.

    • NotSoSocialButterfy says:

I watched him in Force Majeure last year because I missed his ginger Viking hotness!

  12. Tatjana says:

Kaiser, this is a teaser trailer, not a real one , it would be too early for a real one since the post production began few days go. Speaking of Littlefinger, Aidan joined Peaky Blinders as a regular, so …

  13. M.A.F. says:

They all die in the end and as her last dying wish Dany names Lady Mormont as her heir. It is written.

God, we have to wait until JULY?! So far away.

  14. WendyNerd says:

The only thing I want to see of Littlefinger this season is him getting his dumb, pervy head bashed in.

  15. chlo says:

Can someone please help me?! I have an increasingly unhealthy crush on Littlefinger/Aidan Gillen. I mean, Aidan Gillen is a good looking guy in real life, but I just melt and giggle when Littlefinger appears with that ridiculous accent. And am I making up the chemistry between Littlefinger and Sansa?? Don’t get me wrong, I know he’s the bad guy, but he’s my favorite bad guy. <3

    • lannisterforever says:

No I ship Sansa and Littlefinger too! I actually have a secret fantasy of them ending up on the Throne after everything is over, King & Queen of the ashes <3

    • Laura says:

His little crooked smile is what gets me. Every time. 🙂

I think he is a great villain and would love to see a lot of him this season!

    • NotSoSocialButterfy says:

      Littlefinger has The Hotness.

  16. diamondRottweiler says:

You know, if they could just make the King of the North look as tall as he is wide. Such a wee fellow. I confess, it really dings his Medieval Times fantasy potential for me. Maybe some lifts in his kingly boots?

    • third ginger says:

LOL. I just always think he is lucky to be employed [Harrington, I mean. not the rightful King in the North who is the one true king.]

  17. Lucy says:

DRACARYS. Also, Winter starts in July in South America…interesting.

  18. Diana B says:

    Damn! Still so far away!

  19. Ash says:

    that teaser seemed corny

  20. Penfold says:

King in the North! Go Jon, you’ve made it. :). I hope we get a bit more of Little Lady Mormont this season, she is the fiercest 10 year old I think I’ve ever seen on tv! Not too much, but just a little more.

And I hope my boy the Hound makes it up to Winterfell. I want to see a reunion between him, Arya, Sansa, and Brienne. The Brienne/Hound fight was one of the best fights on the show- I didn’t want either to lose. Haha. I would love for them to meet again, peacefully.

    • Sayrah says:

That was a great scene. I was so conflicted. I knew I didn’t want brienne to lose but I really liked the hound by then.

  21. Amelie says:

According to spoilers I found, Gendry seems to reappear in season 7 (so this upcoming season) but I won’t say what or where or how. You can go find that info if you’d like. I’m even surprised they are bringing him back because he had served his purpose on the show and we had reached the end of his storyline that had been touched upon in the books. But reading some background on House Baratheon and House Targaryen, I suppose it makes sense. Gendry is supposedly the last living descendant of House Baratheon, even though he is illegitimate so I guess that may play a role. He can bond with Jon Snow over this.

Daenerys is most likely in Dragonstone, it makes sense for her to land there since its the Targaryens ancestral home in the Seven Kingdoms. Stannis, who used to live there, is now dead as is his daughter so there is nobody to claim it apart from Daenerys.
