Balmain designer Olivier Rousteing made a big show of bringing several top models to Cannes yesterday. Balmain is pretty model-heavy these days, and the Balmain brand is now all about glitz and glamour (rather than innovative design). One of the big “gets” for Balmain was the reappearance of Irina Shayk, who only gave birth to her first baby back in late March (daughter Lea de Seine Shayk Cooper). I get that her body bounced back like crazy and she’s all about the modeling work, but seriously… there will be other film festivals! Irina’s look here is Balmain, obviously.
Lara Stone also wore custom Balmain. Her body is bangin’ and this dress shows it off, but this just seems sort of meh?
I love Doutzen Kroes and she has my dream body. But this silver Balmain dress is kind of meh. Granted, she elevates it. I would loathe this on a Kardashian, but on Doutzen, it’s okay.
Elsa Hosk is really feeling herself in this wrinkled Alberta Ferretti ballgown. Elsa is also my candidate for the annual Who Wants To Be Leo DiCaprio’s New Girlfriend event.
Tina Kunakey wore Armani and I honestly love this dress. It’s really pretty and summery and cute. If the v-neck was a little bit higher, I would wear this with a light cardi and flip-flops.

They all look so, I don’t know, angry or bored (except Tina). If I was being paid to swan around and wear pretty clothes I’d look happier. And their make up is awful.
I honestly believe it’s due to what they have to do to stay always so gorgeous. Diet, restrictions… no wonder models usually look like this.
I’d wear Tina’s dress faster than Melania Trump swatting Drumpf 45’s hand.
Obviously the comeback figure was pre-planned! Irina is gorgeous but man does she have the worst dress sense, it’s always a little trashy and bizarre. Also, is she planning to hide her daughter forever? She hasn’t acknowledged her baby once – and neither her or BC seem to be around around much…so soon after the birth. I’m covering for someone on paternity and someone on maternity leave at the moment and they seem to not want to leave their babies for a moment. I’m not judging – they can choose to do whatever they want and there is more than one way to be a parent, but I am super curious.
I think it’s easy to forget we don’t know these people and we have no idea if she is helicopter parent from the start, cold hearted snake, something in the middle or whatever. We don’t know her every waking hour or every thought running through her head, so it’s completely possible she doesn’t want to leave her baby for a minute, but is smart enough to know that hefty sum of money she got for appearing here will be very useful to her baby in college days. or when buying a house. Or whatever.
I love that more and more celebrities aren’t using their babies as a PR tool, why wouldn’t they hide their kids? Kids didn’t chose to be displayed for all of public to see.
Last, but not the least: when Geekyboy was a week old, my mom came to babysit and for the next three hours I was drinking my coffee and smoking a cigarette, feeling fabolous and feeling like a functional human being for the first time in those two months. Doesn’t mean I wouldn’t cry for my baby if I was forced to go back to work before my one year leave was finished.
Everyone’s different. I had a really tough time with my first maternity leave and felt an enormous sense of relief when it was over and I returned to work, (and it was only 12 weeks long). Some women struggle mightily putting their little babies in daycare, but I was okay with that, too. And I love my kid more than anything, would do anything for him. I just was not cut out emotionally to care for a newborn 24/7. It took a toll on my mental health in ways I was not prepared for.
All that to say, I don’t like the implication that being out and about without a newborn equates to not being as good of a mom, or not loving your kid enough, or some other subtle judgment.
I was trying to imply the same thing you said in your last paragraph.and I completely agree! Everyone is different and if they are good parents to their kid, it’s nobody’s bussiness!
Rumours the baby has Down Syndrom. Could be the reason she does not show her daughter on IG. BCoop answer to Ellen Degeneres was a stupid “what” when she asked about the baby. Irina left LA last Thursday for work. One week without taking care of 8 weeks baby and BCoop is prob working 20 hours/day for A Star Is Born. Good parents ? Invisible parents for now.

It was gross when people said that about the Jolie-Pitt twins and its gross now too. OMG, parents have every right not to publicly post pics of their kids.
I hope that’s not true, if so it’s very sad. Also, don’t most people get tested for that these days? Anyway, the rumor I heard was that BC isn’t actually the dad but they are playing it off that way.

Actually Irina’s comeback was the day before in a yellow Versace and she looked so much better than in Balmain. But she is one of faces of L’Oreal and they now have some kind of special collaboration with Balmain so all the girls had to wear Balmain for yesterday’s screening (first time she does it, she hasnt even walked for one of his shows ever), I kind of suspect she didnt feel completly comfortable with it.
Irina is a beautiful woman but that dress is ugly, looks unconfortable, and is unflattering. She should fire her stylist.
