Here are some photos from last night’s premiere of Wind River, a film written and directed by Taylor Sheridan (who also wrote Sicario, just FYI). I thought Wind River wasn’t coming out until the fall, but the release date is August 4th. Weird. It seems like just the kind of film which would be at home with an October release, but maybe the studio didn’t want it to get lost in the Oscar-release shuffle. Generally speaking though, an August release date is a bad omen for gritty dramas.
Still, Elizabeth Olsen and Jeremy Renner are doing their best to sell this film. Olsen wore this rather good Roland Mouret dress to the premiere – it’s from Mouret’s Fall 2017 collection. Someone tweeted at me that Olsen looks “pregnant” here, but I don’t really see it? I absolutely think that Olsen “dresses pregnant” a lot of the time (see these photos), but this ensemble isn’t the best example. Besides, if she is knocked up, few people will care, because her current boyfriend is a gigantic “WHO?” While I like the Mouret dress here, her hair is awful and her makeup is too pink/red. I loathe when women wear that pinky-bronze eye makeup because it makes them look sickly.
Renner looks… well, he looks like himself, with a pompadour. Renner reportedly signed on to this film because he really wanted to work with Taylor Sheridan and Elizabeth Olsen, and Olsen and Renner reportedly got along really well during filming. I have to admit, I think this movie looks good. You guys know I like a crime story though. This is like… winter noir. Snow noir.

And I hope she and Renner aren’t playing love interests. Just on appearances he looks old enough to play her father.
No, Sheridan said in an interview it is purely a professional relationship.
I like Jeremy Renner (not sure exactly why but I do). But his face always looks like an apple that has started to go bad… or a Jack O Lantern that’s been left out for entirely too long.
Elizabeth’s face looks off, like she has Voldemort’s nose. It’s weird. She’s pretty when she smiles though, and I actually really like this hairstyle.

It also reminds me of Keira Knightley after she went too small on a nose job.
She looks pregnant. But, allot of her clothes are ‘flowey’.
Some say this is Renner’s best work. I will go see (and have – I’m looking at you Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters) Renner in anything. Despite what people think of him personally, he is a good actor. I hope it’s a hit for both of them. I liked Hell or High Water, and that guy wrote this.
Renner looks bandage free here, he had fractured his right elbow and his left wrist in a stunt gone wrong on the movie Tag he is filming now. That movie sounds like fun. Lighter than his usual work.

I like Elizabeth’s makeup and I think she looks really pretty! Sicario was an amazing and intense movie! Renner is a great actor and I think sometimes he looks really handsome and other times– meh.
Trailer looks good, like a movie length episode of Longmire! Love that show. Don’t care for Olson’s look here. Didn’t like similar dress the Jennifer Aniston wore recently. What’s with the floral print on black? Very meh if there is not an interesting design or cut.
