Fourth accuser Haley Freedman files report with LAPD accusing Ed Westwick of rape

Louis XIII Celebration of '100 Years' The Movie You Will Never See, starring John Malkovich

Earlier in March, TMZ reported on a very odd lawsuit. Haley Freedman filed a lawsuit against her business team because she says they failed to properly represent her interests… when she was trying to get her story told about how Ed Westwick allegedly raped her and kept her trapped in his Hollywood home for two days. It seemed like a complicated lawsuit, but Freedman had basically tried to tell her story to anyone who would listen immediately afterwards, and her team got scared off by Ed Westwick’s denials and his work to discredit her. The lawsuit is obviously a civil matter, but many of us wondered if Freedman had or would file a police report. Well, she did. And in doing so, she became the fourth woman to accuse Westwick of rape or assault.

A fourth women, whose name is Haley Freedman, has come forward to accuse Ed Westwick of sexual assault, and Us Weekly can confirm that she has filed a police report against the Gossip Girl alum.

“I can confirm Haley filed a police report on Wednesday, regarding allegations that Ed Westwick raped her,” a rep for Freedman said. “She will be meeting with the district attorney next week.”

As previously reported, Westwick was first accused of rape in November by actress Kristina Cohen. He denied the allegations that he sexually assaulted her at his apartment three years prior via Twitter. “I do not know this woman. I have never forced myself in any manner, on any woman. I certainly have never committed rape,” the 30-year-old actor tweeted at the time.

Aurélie Wynn and Rachel Eck, a former actress and former executive assistant, respectively, came forward with their own accusations later that month. A source close to Freedman’s situation told Us Weekly that she “came prepared with evidence including personal medication information from her doctors to back up her claims against Ed Westwick.”

The LAPD opened up an investigation into Westwick last fall, when Kristina Cohen and Aurelie Wynn first came forward to tell their stories publicly. Westwick is currently lawyered up, and he’s deleted all of his written denials from his social media. This week, People Magazine reported that the police have already sent their case to the LA DA’s office:

Sexual assault allegations against Gossip Girl star Ed Westwick are being reviewed by the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office, PEOPLE confirms. While three women have accused the 30-year-old British actor of raping or sexually assaulting them in 2014, it is unclear which of those alleged assaults is being reviewed by the district attorney.

Westwick — who is most famous in the U.S. for his years-long turn as Chuck Bass on The CW — has denied the assault accusations.

Prosecutor spokesman Greg Risling says their office was presented with a case by L.A. police on March 20 and “it is under review.” Under standard procedure, police investigate accusations of crimes and then turn over their findings to the district attorney, who determines whether to bring charges. Risling did not comment on a timeline for the D.A.’s review.

What are the chances of charges being filed? I’m really asking. LA people, lawyers, whomever: do you think there’s any kind of chance that the DA will review the case and decide to prosecute? I have my doubts. But I also hope that the DA’s office knows that simply filing charges and allowing these women to have their day in court would be some kind of victory too.

I am so sick over this. I know a lot of people here say that his character started off as a sleaze who sexually assaulted a young girl. And that’s true. But it was when they thought he would be a a one or two show character. I am a long time General Hospital fan. So I am so used to the rewrite you know? The bad character is good now. And I am good at just forgetting how they started out. It’s like it never happened. (This is NOT about Luke and Laura, btw, that is from before I watched, and i am not down with what happened there).

And I guess I just love Meester so much. She was fire as Blair. I swear that girl created her own sexual chemistry between herself and herself! So I really liked them. I liked Dan too, I am not a couple stan.

I really messed up on this one. And it’s making me much more careful about how I consume tv and film.

    • nonny says:

you know this happened in real life right?

      • Darla says:

        LOL

Yeah, but I am going back to conversations that I had here about how his character really was nothing but a rapist, and how they glorified him. And how Westwick himself said he was becoming more and more like “Chuck”. It almost melded into one thing.

    • Missy says:

@nonny, I think @Darla means that she’s disappointed in herself for loving his character on Gossip Girl – even though he started out as a bad boy sexual predator on that show.

I, too, loved Chuck and Blair when I watched the show as a teenager. He was definitely the worst, but his unexpected chemistry with Blair (Leighton Meester carried that show) is what led to the whitewashing of his character and eventual happily ever after ending.

Ed Westwick probably thought that he, like Chuck, could be an awful sexual predator and get away with it due to his looks and status.

      • Darla says:

Yep missy, I think he did think that. And thank you for explaining me better than I did. lol

    • Raina says:

I was waiting for this, unfortunately. Rapists are usually serial.

  2. lucy2 says:

I really hope they prosecute. He belongs in jail.

I wonder if they will push that producer that was his accomplice – threaten him with charges and see if he’ll flip. They both are monsters.

  3. polonoscopy says:

He kept her in his house for 2 days?? And raped her? That’s beyond fucked.

  4. Mia4s says:

The chances of charges anytime that time has passed are not great. No physical evidence, third party witnesses have fuzzy memories; it’s very difficult. However there are multiple, unrelated accusers in this case which provides corroboration and who knows maybe someone will grow a conscience and fess up to what they know. I hope for the best.

Four rape accusations should be plenty to end his entertainment career thanks. We have plenty of white (and Latino, and Asian, and African Americans, and etc.) men between the ages of 30 and 40 who have not been accused of rape by multiple women. No need for him. Bye.

Oh and what’s the deal with the fame hungry girlfriend? Has she stuck around? Time to bail sweetie, get a clue.

    • deets says:

I wonder if they will still get married.

    • Mia4s says:

Couldn’t resist a quick social media check. Yep, the girlfriend is standing by him. She posted a photo of them kissing 3 days ago and is retweeting fan support on twitter. Yikes. I also checked IMDB and while she had a small part in some nothing movie in 2017 she has nothing for 2018 or in development. So that helps explain her stance I imagine.

      • Mel M says:

I checked it as well and she says that’s not ed, it’s a shot from a pilot she must be filming? She actually hasn’t posted a pic with his in a while.

      • Mia4s says:

Maybe. But she was tweeting support as late as March 18. So if she’s come to her senses it’s a very recent development.

      • Raina says:

@MIA, yeah I think the thirsty girlfriend follows that saying that any publicity is good publicity but it’s being a very, very bad thing here.

    • Missy says:

They’re still together. She posted on IG about being in England and hanging with Ed’s family (“don’t be jelly that eds mum already gave me my Easter Egg nana nana boo boo”). This fameseeker dated Logan Paul; she won’t be fazed by Ed Westwick. To her, it’s probably a huge step up.

  5. Jay says:

    Good!

I’m a criminal defense attorney but I’m not familiar w CA or LA. My experience in Cook County is that the State’s attorneys office (we have SAs, not DAs here) charges far more often than not, and of course a grand jury will indict a ham sandwich. I’m interested in hearing from actual CA attorneys.

    • ELX says:

If I am not mistaken, Ed Westwick is not a US citizen and is presently in the UK. If the LA DA can’t charge and extradite him, at the very least State/Homeland Security can bar him from ever entering the US again.

    • K2 says:

Do you have evidence of first complaint (hearsay exceptions) in the States for sexual offences? That plus no statute of limitations for sexual offences have been very important over here, in getting historic convictions. And even ones a few years, or even months, later.

  6. deets says:

I went back to the first two articles, and the comments were as bad as I remembered. I remember a dumpster fire of ‘he didn’t do it!’
Did stufff get pruned or am I just not good at the remembering?

    • K2 says:

I just went to look, and there were several, but one is awful, and I’d not seen that thread before. It’s telling that several comments were along the lines of, well, let’s see if anyone else accuses him! Along with the usual INNOCENT TILL PROVEN GUILTY being applied to all situations, and not just courts.

Four and counting. They credible enough numbers, yet?

      Believe Women indeed.

  7. Nicegirl says:

I was a Legal Assistant for 10 years in CA as a young adult, I ended my legal career after being sexually assaulted by one attorney and then sexually harassed by another- my experience was primarily in criminal defense and domestic relations.

My hope is that the DA having several complaints filed and public outcry motivates their office to dig through the complaints to find a violarion, any violation they can use to prosecute Westwick.

My expectation, I don’t know! He’s not so famous that the LA DA may be intimidated, not sure if he has a big agency ripping him, and, is he even a Scientologist? Although sexual assault is the most unbelieved crime, and survivors are wrongly made to carry the burden of proof, without the protection of an agency, fame or Scientology, maybe, just maybe, THEY’LL GET HIM.

    • Mia4s says:

He’s not a Scientologist. As far as agency the only thing I can find is he signed with ICM Partners after leaving WME in 2015. ICM is certainly a high level agency and a player, but also certainly not one of the big three. The move was likely the old “hey you’re low on the list at a big agency, come with us and be a bigger fish in a smaller pond.” I doubt ICM could (or will) do much to help him with these charges.

    • Georgia says:

Nice girl, I’m so sorry for what you’ve been through. I hope you are doing ok now and that great things are in your future.

  8. Rumi says:

I hope the victims get justice and he’s thrown in jail.

  9. jwoolman says:

Is that the only picture available for him? Or does he just always have that expression on his face so it seems like the same picture every time?

    • smcollins says:

He has a very punchable face, and I thought that before these allegations came out. He’s just always seemed so sleazy to me.

  10. MDM says:

Im not sure how visas work for foreign actors but surely the least that can happen is that his visa to work in the US would be taken away. Right?

  11. KeepingItReal says:

People on here actually watched Gossip Girl?
