Here are some photos from the LA premiere of Adrift, the movie about two lovers on a boat and then there’s a hurricane and it’s awful. It’s a true story too. Shailene Woodley and Sam Claflin play the lovers, and while I didn’t hate the trailer for this movie, these two are not doing the most to convince me to see it. They both look like they’re phoning this in, my God! Shailene’s hair screams “I didn’t bother” and Sam recently got this buzzcut-adjacent look. Yikes. Since clip-in bangs are all the rage right now, what’s the consensus for Shailene? Clip-in bangs or did she really do this to herself?? Note: she did have bangs at the Met Gala, but they were much shorter and thicker and they were more clip-in vibey. So I really don’t know.
I’m always so surprised when Shailene ends up on a red carpet too. Her brand is all about being one with nature and living in a hut in a forest, and yet she still turns up to awards shows and Met Galas and premieres, and she does seem to have a stylist or some relationships with various A-list designers. I don’t have the ID for this dress, but I’m getting Elie Saab vibes from it. I enjoy metallic colors, so I’m okay with this, even though I don’t think it really suits her.
Meanwhile, Shailene actually attended the premiere with her boyfriend, a rugby player named Ben Volavola. This is their first red carpet together? They’ve been dating for months, apparently. He’s an Australian-born Fijian. They met while Shailene was filming this movie.

If you have long hair and don’t want to cut it at some point bangs seem like a good idea. They never looked as bad to me as photos clearly displayed not the best look. They look the best when they are growing out. She looks beautiful even with the bangs.

I think the bangs are real and the hot boyfriend debut is an attempt to distract from how hideous they are. It’s mostly working.

I think her stylist is that woman who also styles tom hiddleston and a bunch of other men. I think she does well with means wear not women’s wear.
The true story is worse as the guy died whereas in the trailers he doesn’t, or at least lives longer than the real story.

I just love the look of punk rock bangs w retro dresses, it’s so cool. As a dark skinned person, I can’t really “do” this styling, but appreciate on the right person.

The fit on that bodice is awful. Her poor boobs look SO ANGRY about it. And her hair… oof. The color is too harsh on her and I don’t always hate bangs, but holy lord they look awful here. And I swear to god if I hadn’t been forewarned that was Sam Claflin, I’d have scrolled right past that photo assuming he was some 57-year-old producer on the film. He looks like he hasn’t slept in three years and subsists on a diet of meth and despair. The only not-terrible thing happening here is her hot boyfriend. He can just keep up the good work.

Im not a huge fan of her in general, but there is nothing wrong with her bangs. She looks fine.
