It used to be that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were constantly going on vacation. Even before they were married, Will and Kate had a near-constant vacation schedule, going to Ibiza or Mustique or various ski resorts. Their 20s and early 30s were a haze of beaches and yachts and ski trips. Then they started having kids, and honestly, the vacations continued. But now that George and Charlotte are older and there are school schedules to deal with, Will and Kate have eased up on the vacations. I still argue that they consistently manage to slip away a few times a year without telling anyone, but for the most part, we can determine their vacations by George and Charlotte’s school schedule now. And George and Charlotte have this week off. So… a ski trip, maybe?
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will be taking a short break from the royal circuit next week as they enjoy family time with their children Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis. George, five, and Charlotte, three, are on half-term from Thomas’s Battersea and Willcocks Nursery School, which means, usually, the palace does not schedule any official engagements during the kids’ holidays.
The Cambridges may head to their country home, Anmer Hall, in Norfolk, which is where the royals usually spend Christmas, Easter and a period of the summer. But William and Kate may have booked a holiday to the mountains. The couple took their first ski holiday in the French Alps in March 2016 when Charlotte was just ten months old and George was turning three. It wouldn’t be a complete surprise if the family went skiing again this year so that nine-month-old Louis can experience his first taste of snow.
It true that William and Kate don’t have anything scheduled for this week. I think… it’s been a while, hasn’t it? I can’t even remember if they did go on vacation during the Christmas holidays? I don’t think they did. So sure, they’re “due.” Plus, a family trip to a ski resort with three kids sounds more like work than a vacation. We’ll see – it will be interesting if they do go somewhere, will they release family photos again?

Some of my fondest childhood memories are of family vacations. Why shouldn’t William and Kate’s kids have the same experiences?
It’s really common for families to go away during the school holidays so I don’t know why people are surprised.

I was reading up on their mother Janet and seems to have been the poster child for controlling mothers a la Carole and Kris Jenner.
I read the J.Randy Taraborelli book “Jackie,Janet and Lee” and it was so interesting. I was sad about Lee’s death because it’s really the end of an era.
I will have to read that. I read his book about “Jackie, Ethel, Joan” multiple times.
Meh, I don’t see the problem with this. I think the last time they went abroad for a holiday was last summer to Mystique for George’s birthday.
That we know of.
But I have no issues with them being away.
Charlotte and George are probably working far harder in nursery school/primary school than their parents ever do a day in their “working royal” lives. Those kids deserve a vacay!
It’s midwinter break for public schools here and most people are taking a vacation of some sort if they can.

They should go on vacation since the kids are out of school. I just hope it isn’t all the way to the Caribbean.
I think it was Kelly Ripa who said a vacation with kids is a trip, not a vacation, and I LOL’d because it’s so true.
In any event, if they’ve been on vacation recently, they’ve been discreet. So sure, they are “due.”
They will have nannies and possibly Ma Middleton in tow. This is the perfect time for them to be away. DM will protect them from the news with loads of Meghan and Harry stories. Meghan in New York, Meghan’s baby shower, and then Meghan goes to Morrocco.
Good for them, with 3 kids it’s still a lot of work even if you have help, which they do.
I wonder if everyone at KP has the week off, or if it’s just the royals. Meghan is apparently in NYC for a baby shower and a five day visit.
I wouldn’t mind them going on holiday if they (William in particular) had done a lick of work (that’s what you say in the US, right?) last year. But maybe this will be the year! Or maybe not. The Queen and Charles will continue to age, and William will continue to be given a pass because he’s “only the heir to the heir.”
