Duchess Kate is both ‘the jewel in the crown’ & the ‘savior of the monarchy’…?

Britain's Kate, The Duchess of Cambridge listens during a visit to The Natural History Museum in London, Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2019. The Duchess of Cambridge, Patron of the Museum, visited the Natural History Museum's Angela Marmont Centre for UK Biodiversity

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are leaving (or, halfway leaving) the royal family for very good reasons. I applaud them and wish them well. But there is part of me – the gossip blogger part of me – which is not looking forward to covering the Windsors post-Sussex. This weekend, we got a preview of what the next decade is going to look like: a breathless exaltation of the Duchess of Cambridge for A) existing, B) being white, C) not rocking the boat, D) not divorcing Wandering Willy when he cheats on her and E) did I mention that she’s white? If you thought Kate had a perfect foil when Meghan was around, just wait until Kate is endlessly compared to The Duchess Who Shall Not Be Named. I know that all of us royal-watchers are like “haha, chickens come home to roost for the Cambridges,” but the truth is, the Royal Rota will be – and already IS – all to eager to embiggen Kate even more. Case in point, this Sun article:

Her Maj may well be saddened and disappointed — and Charles and Wills left fuming — but they know they have an asset that will ensure this is all merely a blip. That asset is Kate Middleton. She is the jewel in their crown and carries the hopes for their future on her slender shoulders. Kate doesn’t put a foot wrong. She has coped with difficult pregnancies, rumours about her marriage and accusations of being dull and boring, always gracefully and with dignity. She is a sweet-tempered, gentle-natured woman but has a core of steel which has helped her survive the negativity. And she is now flourishing at the very heart of The Firm.

[From The Sun]

That’s all I could manage to excerpt because my eye was twitching so hard. While I’ve never been Kate’s biggest fan, I could find a way to compliment her in a realistic way. It’s the over-the-top fawning that gets me. I mean, “the jewel in the crown” R U SERIOUS. I’m old enough to remember when INDIA was the jewel in the crown. Because literally, those British colonizers stole the Koh-I-Nor and they refuse to give it back. But I digress. Not content to merely state that Kate IS THE CROWN, the Daily Mirror went further: Kate will single-handedly save the monarchy.

Kate, the future queen, has clearly realised how the weight of responsibility to save this institution is now firmly on her shoulders. She must be the strength behind the throne of King William V. And she must raise her eldest son to face up to his duty too, while helping her other two children lead as normal lives as possible. It is a balancing act that would be tricky at the best of times, but one that has become even more onerous now.

A Palace source said: “There’s a genuine worry over how much this could affect the Cambridges and the strategy that has been carefully crafted for them. William has been taking on more responsibilities at home and abroad – working in the Middle East is a great example, and also his strides into the climate-change arena. With Kate, she has arguably had her best year as a royal, looking very comfortable and relaxed in the role, working with major issues that she will carry on doing for years to come.

“Harry and Meghan deciding to up sticks and leave without any thought about how it could affect them is pretty selfish. If the Sussexes are only here half the year then it will fall to William and Kate to pick up the slack with more engagements, more pressure, and that has not even been considered.”

But her affection and admiration for the Queen means that Kate will never shirk. She once spoke of how she was “struck by the Queen’s sense of duty and commitment”, and she clearly hopes to follow her lead and help William do his duty.

[From The Daily Mirror]

Ah, yes, Harry and Meghan are super-selfish because now Kate and William can’t take credit for their work or throw them under the bus whenever Cambridges-critical headlines happen. My guess is that there is real concern in Buckingham Palace and Clarence House these days about Kate, and that’s why there’s a rush to embiggen her even more, because Kate is all they’ve got. My guess is that the concern is that Kate will just go back to being lazy as f–k because she no longer has any “competition.” If anything, all she’s learned from this entire Sussex debacle is that all she has to do is sit around and everyone will fall all over themselves to kiss her ass. She can coast like this for years. We’re never going to see the Early Years launch.

Lmfaoooooooo this is the WORST. Honestly if Kate herself doesn’t feel embarrassed by this she’s dumber than I thought.

    • Layla Beans says:

Oh yeah she is not embarrassed. And her mom is over the moon and probably adding these clippings to her scrapbooks as we speak.

    • Ronaldinhio says:

I could barely read this I am so embarrassed.

      Please can we just not

    • I’m beginning to think Kate is Queen of the Mean Girls syndicate. But she is perfect for Britain, she’s white, bland, has some sort of eating issue (if modern cameras now add almost 20 lbs, and Kate looks that thin in photos, how extremely thin must she appear in person — she used to have a body, now she’s beginning to look like a Hollywood Lollipop). Oh, and she is developing that clinch jawed, resting bitch face that is so attractive on the senior royal women.

      • malikaeyes says:

I do wonder what sort of company people keep to think Kate has some sort of eating issue. That’s what plenty of naturally thin people look like.

      • Maria says:

Not really. Queen Letizia of Spain is naturally thin. Queen Rania is naturally thin. Kate’s only been this way for recent years. Her choice, but it’s not her natural frame.

      • Lady D says:

Pet peeve here. I don’t think the camera ever did add ten pounds to anyone, and seriously if it did, someone like Angelina or Alicia Vikander would not look like skin and bones on the screen. Can you imagine Natalie Portman looking 20 pounds smaller in real life than she does on the screen? She would disappear. The camera didn’t add 20 pounds to Archie for his first picture. I think more advanced cameras would show a more accurate depiction of someone, not a 20 pounds heavier look. I’m not trying to be argumentative, @JA Low country Lady, I just don’t buy the camera adding pounds theory.

      • Maria says:

Lady D – it depends on the camera used. Lens distortion is an actual thing.
And a lot of Hollywood actresses really are extremely skinny, in real life.
Not all cameras do this, but it’s a real phenomenon.

      • kellybean says:

I think Kate warrants criticism for more than a few reasons but I think it’s unduly harsh to attack her for having an “eating issue.” That’s not a matter that should be trivialized or used as evidence against her character.

      • lucia says:

I didn’t make this comment for you speculate on her body. I suggest you stop.

      • Mrs.Krabapple says:

My friend died as a result of her eating disorder so I don’t trivialize the issue. But what I think the poster above is saying (and what I’ve said before) is that Kaye gets praised for being unnaturally thin. And it is unnatural because she wasn’t this thin when younger. Its not a “fault” of Kate so much as the fault of society to praise a woman simply because she starves herself. Kate doesn’t do anything noteworthy, and her praise is solely for being thin and white. THAT is toxic.

      • Maria says:

While we don’t need to speculate on her body specifically, the fact that she is white and this thin is a large part of why she gets goodwill– in the press and in that family. Not to recognize that is disingenuous. And it’s even more apparent when you contrast it with the articles about Meghan not losing her baby weight as fast as Kate.

      • Amy Too says:

Agreed, she is praised for being tiny. There is literally a quote in this article about how the fate of the monarchy rests on her “slender shoulders.”

      • February Pisces says:

I find it weird when her stans defend her weight with ‘she’s naturally skinny’, like they r doing her some kind of favour. Sure she’s naturally thin to some extent but the weight she’s at now isn’t natural. I know people who have been naturally under weight and they work on gaining weight and see a dietician to help them do so. Even if she was this weight ‘naturally’ she would still have a load of health problems that come with it. I wonder if she still gets a period at this weight. And if she does have an eating disorder (and I think she does) it’s disturbing to praise her for being so skinny because she will never get any help whilst people are complimenting her for being this thin.

      • Mac says:

I’ve been going to Jane Fonda’s Fire Drill Fridays in DC and she has had celebrity guest appearances every week. No one was thinner than they look on TV or in the movies.

      • Maria says:

*Again*, not all cameras do this, but plenty do.

      • malikaeyes says:

Being fat doesn’t make you a better person. I don’t know why people here think it does.

      • Maria says:

Nobody said anything about fatness and nobody said anything about it making someone a better person.
But it is a fact that ideals of thinness police women’s bodies and influence our discussion, and influence our perceptions of notable people.

    • Rice says:

I’ve been trying to come up with one solid reason why Sussexit blew up the way it did. I mean, based on the UK tabloids, Duchess Keen will save the world from certain ruin. But it’s not one reason, it’s a chaotic and complex barrage of reasons, isn’t it?

My cynical, weird and unshakeable feeling is that the other shoe will drop, and this time, there will be no Meghan to blame.

      • Sally says:

In my own humble opinion, I believe that Kate seen Meghan as competition. Kate was used to being the only female around. She could not stand another female, beautiful and talented, taking “Her” place. Meghan was like a breath of fresh air, she was something new. I do not blame Harry and Meghan one bit. Why put up with ‘their’ BS when they can have a good life, outside of the FIRM.

      • bamaborn says:

Rice…just hope I’m alive when that whole thing implodes.

      • Lady2Lazy says:

No, they will find a way to tie it to MM for the demise of Kate’s well being and Wil’s infidelity. Even though H and M are across the pond, MM will take the hit for their demise. Kate was fortunate for Meghan to be there as long as she was since the heat was taken off of her fir her lack of official engagements each year. Now Kate has no one to take the fire that the media shoots now. It will be up to W&K to pull their weight and she is not happy about this one little bit!

      • MsIam says:

I look for Kate and the Middletons to get the boot. Along with Fergie. Charles and his courtiers have long hated the Middletons, there were all these articles about how William turns to them for advice instead of Charles and they were driving a wedge between Charles and William. This is his perfect opportunity, especially since William is tired of her. Watch for “They turned William against his own family!” . It will all be spun as Kate (and Carole) were so jealous and threatened by Meghan that something had to be done. They convinced poor William to participate in this nefarious scheme, even though he thought better because he would never bully his poor beloved little brother whom he put his arm around for his whole life!! It was just to please his wife and keep her happy, but now she and her family have betrayed him (sob)!

      • sandy says:

I don’t think any kind of celebrity analysis requires us to speculate **whether or not someone gets a period**. Stop being gross. No one deserves that.

      • Mac says:

Harry and Meghan stepping back will have zero impact on Kate. She will do exactly as she pleases, as she always has done.

Charles is not going to kick out the Midds. I expect he will give them titles. The Duke and Duchess of York will likely be available in the not-so-distant future.

      • Maria says:

Charles is never going to give the Middletons a title, and especially not Duke and Duchess of York, for many reasons.

      • Redgrl says:

@rice – few possibilities as to what the “other shoe” could be: more info about to drop about 1) the BRF’s shady financial ties to questionable oligarchs 2) the truth about Andrew and the extent of his involvement, 3) how far up the Royal tree the coverup and knowledge of the coverup goes and 4) the extent of leaks in KP and BP and who is leaking what with whose knowledge. Some of this could be coming from the lawsuit and others could just be dormant knowledge waiting to be exposed by a journalist who doesn’t have their head up the @ss of the BRF….*adjusts tinfoil tiara*

      • Mac says:

@Maria – The comment about the York title was an obvious joke. There have been rumors for years that Charles intends to give them a title. I believe it will happen to sharpen Kate’s bonafides for when William takes the throne.

      • Maria says:

LOL! I’m sorry to take it literally.
I don’t know if I believe the rumors. The Middletons were a large part of the reason he barely saw his grandkids for awhile.

      • Nic919 says:

Carole needs to live until William becomes king because Charles will never give the Middletons a title.

      • morrigan01 says:

Yeah, what @Nic919 said. Charles will never give the Middletons a title. I don’t know why anyone is even entertaining that idea.

Carole better live to see William on the throne. That’s the only way she’ll live out her titled Aristocrat dreams.

    • Amy Too says:

And she’s being praised to high heavens for the exact same things that Meghan is being crucified for. Kate is pulling the strings in the background, steering everything, taking charge. But all of that was absolutely horrible when people even thought Meghan was doing it.

And the whole bit about how this has been her best year ever just because she’s come into her own and seems confident and relaxed? But when Meghan seems confident, it’s because she’s a Hollywood diva narcissist who is trying to steal the spotlight because she’s so cocky and thinks so highly of herself. And if Meghan appears relaxed it means she’s either acting or she’s not taking her position seriously.

I hate everything about this article! The bar is SO LOW for Kate. She’s being praised for “working on” complex issues. Not actually finishing any projects, or providing solutions, or doing/saying anything publicly regarding the complex issues. It’s just assumed that she’s “working” behind the scenes (for the last, what? 3 years, now?) on this huge, yet extremely vague, initiative that keeps being pushed back. Once it’s launched and revealed to be whatever the f*ck it is, it’s probably not going to be nearly as impressive as what it’s been built up to be. When it’s still so vague, everyone can make into whatever they want it to be, the perfect, long term project for her. Because she’s taken years to “work on it” it has to be huge and all-encompassing, right? Otherwise why would it take so long? Such BS.

This article absolutely proves my theory that Kate and the Middletons are the main leakers. And they do it so poorly, too. Besides being over the top, it also actually lists all the negative things about Kate: she’s dull, her marriage is in trouble, she’s lazy. It’s like they went to the press and were like “make sure you write about how she’s NOT dull, lazy, and being cheated on,” so all of those things had to be included in the article so they could be “disputed.” Either that, or the press is as sick as we are of the fawning BS that Kate doesn’t deserve at all so they like to throw in these reminders of why she sucks and give her backhanded compliments.

      • Catting says:

So true. I think the monarchy looks pathetic with all of this, though. Like others have said, the time for the Queen to be “personal and emotional” was before this happened. The time for Kate to be “savior of the monarchy” was before this happened. They didn’t care then; they’re only trying to damage control now, and it’s super obvious and poorly done.

      • Lady2Lazy says:

No, they will find a way to tie it to MM for the demise of Kate’s well being and Wil’s infidelity. Even though H and M are across the pond, MM will take the hit for their demise. Kate was fortunate for Meghan to be there as long as she took the heat off of Kate for her lack of official engagements each year. Now Kate has no one to take the fire that the media shoots now. It will be up to W&K to pull their weight and she is not happy about this one little bit!

      • Lady2Lazy says:

@AmyToo, that is an extremely interesting point that you are making!! I wouldn’t be surprised if Carol M. wasn’t behind these nasty leaks so that her precious Kate could be coddled and had petals placed before her feet. Carol M. was certain to gain Kate access to Will college so that she could meet her prince and wait 11 years for him to put a ring on it. And Carol cannot have her direct line to HRH in jeopardy no matter who she takes down. I see how well you have deciphered their devious code!! I applaud you Amy Too!!

      • Mac says:

Kate has spent years letting us know she wants the royal perks without the royal work. It is ludicrous to suggest she has been pulling the strings and keeping it all together. She’s been playing tennis, shopping, and getting her hair done.

      • Nic919 says:

If Kate was American she would have voted for Dump. She is that white woman and no amount of PR spin is going to make her look smarter or more eloquent or look like she actually cares about the peasants. Her entire life goal was to be part of royalty so she will do whatever it takes to stay there. Well except actual work.

I am very curious as to what happens with Catherine Quinn leaving shortly. Quinn has substance and tried to import it to Kate, but it didn’t stick. Sure those who want to act like that garden solved climate change will say otherwise, but outside of MAGA like camb stans, the rest of the world sees them for what they are.

      • yinyang says:

@Mac I agree. Kate thinks way too much of herself to bother wasting time bringing Meghan down, yes she benifits from it, but someone else is behind this maybe Carol or Kate’s friends from the Press or someone connected to her PR people, someone on the inside that greatly benifits from the monarchy, if Kate and William is behind this they may be providing money on the side.

      • Lisel says:

Not many people in European countries think in terms of ”put a ring on it” especially at the age Will and Kate were during those years. It’s pretty commonplace to wait many years before marrying.

      • Mignionette says:

@Lady2Lazy says I think you’re right. I’m expecting some hit piece in the future about how the strain of H&M, leaving led to the demise of the Cambridge marriage and family life because they had to fill their shoes.

In 20 year time we’ll Louis is going to get thrown under the bus by George and it will be because Meghan’s stepping back meant Kate couldn’t be there for her family so Louis went off the rails.

The cycle of toxicity never ends.

      • Maria says:

Lisel – Will waited because he didn’t want to marry her. Hence the cheating, hence the several breakups (including one where he shouted “I’m free!” on top of a table in public), hence the links to other women who ultimately wouldn’t have him.

    • AMM says:

@LadyD, I have no idea if Kate has an eating disorder or say, just stopped eating junk food and is super slim by eating helathier and not drinking like she did in her 20s. But the camera thing is real. Kim K in real life is legit tiny. Super slim except for the implant areas. I was shocked to see how petite she was compared to how she looks on instagram and tv.

      • Lady D says:

Okay, but that doesn’t explain why the camera didn’t add 20 pounds to the picture of Archie, or Kim’s babies or any other baby seen on television or in movies.

      • Maria says:

Probably for the same reason they don’t put contouring makeup on babies – they aren’t shooting them for a specific aesthetic result akin to what we expect celebrities (mostly women) to look like, so they don’t use the same lens, angles, or photo editing.

    • Lucy De Blois says:

Kate should pay attention to this old slogan: be careful with your wishes, they might became true.

  2. Layla Beans says:

My money says she has another bun in the oven by the end of the year. Then the headlines about her having four kids just like Liz can make us all sick.

    • (TheOG)@jan90067 says:

Totally agree! She has to stretch out the years now that George and Char are in school full time. I think she WILL wait until close to Christmas to announce something, just so by the time she gives birth, Louis will be almost 3 (in time for part time nursery school), and a new baby will give her ANOTHER 3-5 yrs. to do barely anything.

OMG we may get another Duggar situation, only this time, with a crown lol. A new baby for each Rose Bush that’s pruned. Kate may keep it up until she just can’t anymore! 😂🤣😂

      • Lady2Lazy says:

Maybe she is trying to beat Queen Victoria’s baby count? 🤣

      • Liz version 700 says:

Ha!!! They is perfect. She isn’t just copying the Queen but also Queen Victoria. King William Middleton and Queen Kate Victoria Duggar

    • Kk2 says:

Oh yeah she’s definitely having a 4th now. They need that positive pr badly. This sucks is majorly eye rolly but I do think it is coText to say that Kate is vital to the survival of the monarchy. Not because she’s so great but because William is so lame that the likability of the family is going to rest solely on her and the kids (that was always going to be the case even if Meg and Harry provided an assist). She knows it too and I hope she is flexing that power behind the scenes. Especially if will did cheat on her, she could leave him and singlehandedly blow this whole thing apart. I hope she reminds them of that daily. I imagine that might be what the article is really about, in fact.

    • bigrockcandy says:

I’m sure I heard that all throughout 2019, though. About ten psychics on this site were 100% sure she’d announce a pregnancy last year.

      • Mego says:

Who knows she may find that getting pregnant at 38 isn’t so easy. But I truly believe William doesn’t want a 4th.

      • Maria says:

Maybe she wants a fourth and he is firmly saying no – perhaps the reason for Shruggate?

      • malikaeyes says:

Even for you, Maria, that’s weird logic.

        And that’s saying something.

      • JaneBee says:

@malikaeyes – No need to be rude. I don’t think Maria’s logic here is weird. Although, personally, I think the more plausible reason for shruggate is rose bush trimming. Could well be both.

      • notasugarhere says:

Maria’s being logical. Baby #3 came after he was caught dad dancing with blonds. Baby #4 as a result of Rose would be no surprise.

      • Maria says:

        Just speculating.
There are a couple of Marias here too, so be careful with the “even for you” comments, lol.

      • It’s easy to speculate and as an added bonus – at least half the people will be right!

    • Lucy De Blois says:

Let’s be reasonable: if she shrugs so vigorously when he touchs her back, the baking should be ruled out? lol

  3. Sofia says:

So why wasn’t St Catherine the saviour at the summit yesterday with the monarch and two future Kings?

Oh that’s right, it’s because she isn’t the saviour and at this present moment, she’s got the same titles Meghan has but with a different location at the end

    • Digital Unicorn says:

She was too busy posing for the paps during the school run – she’s such a normal earth mother.

    • Bookworm says:

OMG – there were no wives there.

      • Nic919 says:

And it confirms that the consorts are replaceable. All of them, just as Diana was. So all this Queen Kate stuff is pretty empty because only the blood royals matter to that family, despite the Carole Middleton spin.

  4. Becks1 says:

JEWEL IN THE CROWN LMAO ARE YOU KIDDING ME.

Laughter aside….apparently Kate is what the royal family and the british press want. She’s dull, unexciting, and doesnt really detract from William or the other royals.

Now I’ll point out that one of the things that cracks me up about this whole thing is that Kate and William basically did the same thing for the first….5 years of their marriage? They took a giant step back, both while in Wales and then again in Norfolk. They werent launching other non-royal initiatives or anything. They just werent full time royals. But now that H&M are going to do something similar and supplement their royal work with other charity work – its a crisis that will bring down the monarchy? LOL for days.

    • Nic919 says:

The part about not shirking work is hilarious because she’s still not even at 200 engagements a year in what was supposed to be her best year ever.

    • notasugarhere says:

It doesn’t matter if she’s dull. What matters is she’s lazy.

      • Becks1 says:

@Nota – yup. But apparently the british media is okay with that at the present moment. It will be interesting to see how the coverage goes from here, because her laziness is just going to be more and more obvious, especially if they dont have any more kids.

      • Lady2Lazy says:

She is lazy, isn’t she? Hasn’t she had some cockamamie program in the works for the past 2-3 years? We shall see what she comes up with in 2020/2021!

    • Erinn says:

You’ve hit the nail on the head, Becks.

This IS absolutely what they want. She is exactly what they hoped she would be. She follows the status quo for the most part, keeps her mouth shut, and doesn’t get involved in anything with too much substance. While I don’t deny that she’s probably very content with her situation in the vast majority of ways… I suspect it’s not all that rosy either. Part of me feels bad for her in that – if she ever HAD wanted anything more out of the gig, it seems like she’d be too afraid to go for it and incur the wrath of the sketchy little courtiers and everyone else. But I’m also not saying that was the case, or that it’s at all admirable. Courage is important. But I do feel a bit sorry for anyone marrying into this family. I don’t think she’s particularly interesting or ambitious, but I think she’s in a difficult position in some regards.

Meghan is someone who has ambition (in a healthy way imo) and she isn’t so afraid to speak up about things she feels are important. I’m sure living the productive life she’s lived, and dealing with all of the horrible treatment from all angles puts her in a position where she feels like the only choice is to be courageous. But that’s still impressive as hell because not everyone is able to muster that courage. She was never going to be adored by the monarchy. And it’s unfair, but at the same time, I think she’s got huge things on the horizon. I truly believe she’s only at the beginning of her climb to make a difference and we’re going to be seeing some amazing projects in the future.

      • Sarah says:

The *tiniest* part of me feels for Kate right now, especially if she isn’t happy with how her Quest for the Crown is turning out. Seeing Meghan and Harry pull this off must sting is she feels trapped, knowing that her options are to either be locked in for life or tossed aside should William be done with her. Golden cage and all that.

ETA: Sorry! Not sure how my reply ended up here when I was replying to someone else.

      • I think she will end up living with all the toys, but still — a life of quiet desperation.

      • chicken tetrazzini! says:

What worries me is we’re seeing some real nastiness of William’s rising to the surface right now. What goes on behind the scenes that we can’t see? I do not put it past him to be verbally/emotionally abusive or manipulative or any number of awful combinations. Do I know for sure? No, of course not, but it definitely wouldn’t surprise me. Kate probably bears the brunt of that and maybe that’s why she’s so bad at public speaking or taking engagements… if she’s mocked at home or made to feel shitty about the work she has done? Certainly makes me wonder what the home life is like, if he’s such a jerk in public

      • Amy Too says:

Chicken, I think they live separate lives, if not in separate homes all the time, then on separate sides of their very large home(s). It’s not like they’re living together in a one bedroom trailer where she has no way of escaping him and she’s always close by so he’s always going off on her. I think they are extremely emotionally distant, physically distant, and sexually distant. I would think that his way of lashing out would be pouting, running away from the family, staying out all night, and refusing to engage with her (silent treatment). Maybe if he was really mad he’d say bad things about the Middletons or leak something to a reporter that makes Kate look bad. He just seems so childish and petulant, weak and ineffectual. I can’t see him actively bullying her.

      • Nic919 says:

Outside of actual abuse, I can’t feel bad for Kate here, even if William is a petulant tool. Divorce is always an option and if she chooses to stay, that’s on her.

      • morrigan01 says:

Meghan always said she never wanted to be a lady who lunches but a woman who works.

Kate, meanwhile, is the epitome of a lady who lunches:

“The ones who follows the rules/and meet themselves at the schools/to busy to know that they’re fools/aren’t they a gem?”

And for people who don’t get that “Ladies Who Lunch” monicure: “Ladies Who Lunch” is a song from the Stephen Sondheim musical “Company.” It’s a song about upper middle class women who basically lead empty lives of quiet desperation. (Meghan, as a actress and theater major probably knows the whole Sondheim musical catalogue like most theater geeks).

    • EM says:

I think more and more people will want the RF to go away after the Queen passes on and no amount of media exultation will help Kate. She is unlike other modern princesses/Queens (i.e. Spain, Sweden, etc) in that she truly doesn’t want or seem to like to work. I predict a very short shelf-life for Wills and Kate.

  5. Cee says:

I have a feeling Meghan and Harry will completely eclipse the BRF once they launch their Foundation and they’re free to commit to and work with different causes in a more real and tangible way.
William might become King one day, but Harry and Meghan will be the face of the Monarchy, Senior Royals or not. And that’s what these idiots can’t deal with.

    • Sophie says:

God i hope so, that would be delicious.

    • teehee says:

That’s why they’re being smeared now.
They’re more popular than the heirs, and that just isn’t allowed…. no amount of smearing will make them less liked. Only their own actions and words can change that.

    • Liz version 700 says:

Bingo. Becks. That is why they fought so hard to try to bully them into line. Meghan could go to the grocery store on a non staged photo op and light the presses up. She won’t that isn’t her style, but when she and Harry start working their months long plans the clicks will be on the papers talking about the Sussexes. William and Carole’s head will explode. HerE ye here ye comes now the Future Future King …. King William Middleton

      • bigrockcandy says:

She was in the Kensington Whole Foods frequently before they got married. It didn’t light up the presses. People didn’t care.

      • Maria says:

They didn’t care as much because they weren’t engaged yet. That’s obviously not what Liz version 700 is talking about.
But she must have been papped then anyway, because I remember seeing those pics of her in Whole Foods and entering and leaving Kensington Palace, before their engagement.

      • notasugarhere says:

A former poster revealed there was a press injunction against photographing Meghan as she went about daily business. The only WF pictures were the ones before the injunction was put in place.

  6. Brit says:

Well, since the Sussexes and particularly Meghan won’t be there to be a distraction from her lack of work ethic and blatant mediocrity, she will have to step up more. Let’s see the great Queen consort that the media has been talking about. The media knows that covering the Cambridges will be boring and a waste of time. Hey, they kept saying the Sussexes aren’t the stars and they need to step back. They got their wish, didn’t they?.

    • L4frimaire says:

But they like mediocrity in the upper classes over there. The worst words to them are ambition and intellectualism. Yes, most of the coverage and smears were racist and sexist, but the classist spin was always there. Meghan’s American can-do , let’s hit the ground running, let’s use this platform for good, attitude really got to people in charge. Aristocracy and meritocracy are not compatible in their eyes and they felt threatened. If Kate mumbles two speeches in the next two years, that will be a major accomplishment in their eyes. So over it.

  7. carmen says:

Kate is being praised for being a puppet who doesn’t have a mind of her own, or backbone & doesn’t rock the boat.

    • Meg says:

Yes sexist things pushed on women. Which is the opposite of what Meghan and Harry just did, rock the boat.

    • Mrs.Krabapple says:

Yes, what is so effing offensive is the narrative that a woman needs to be thin, white, silent, have no opinions, and willing to be her husband’s doormat in order to be the “perfect” woman like Kate. It is toxic, misogynistic, and racist. I am utterly sick of that narrative. And since the royal family is feeding this narrative, it shows the institution is STILL toxic, misogynistic, and racist.

      • romperstomper says:

Well said! I, too, wonder what goes on behind the scenes between Kate and William. I’m American and really cannot comment on Kate’s work ethic (or lack thereof) as a full time royal. But it does seem, as others have pointed out in other posts, there are some initiatives that Kate could take on – children and sport – which would allow her to shine. Is it that she’s too lazy, or that her husband would be jealous with rage for her to outshine him just a little bit?

  8. Heather says:

Well, as a person who actually likes both Kate & Meghan for separate reasons, I am just looking forward to reading articles about anything BUT the British Royal Family (unless something finally happens, legally, to Prince Andrew – I’m all in for that), because I am all royal-ed out!

    • Laura says:

You know Heather, I agree with you. I might take a royal break until Andrew gets arrested. (Damn, it’s so sad that won’t actually happen though)

      • carmen says:

Sadly, Laura I think you will have a long wait. Doubt they are even investigating him, at the most they may want to ask a few questions about Epstein – because he’s the only one that did anything wrong, right?

    • Bookworm says:

I know – why does the royal family need to be posted about here anyway if they’re going to be so dull?

      • notasugarhere says:

You’re welcome not click on any royal related stories.

      • Bookworm says:

I’m referring to the statement in the post about how dull it will be to cover the royal family. If she thinks they’re dull, why bother posting about them?

      • notasugarhere says:

She said nothing about them being dull. You’re the one who brought that in.

    • DarlingDiana says:

I like them both too and it makes all of the comnents/coverage difficult to read. Apparently, you must detest one to like the other.

      • I really liked Kate when she first came on the scene, but the further she has gotten into this marriage — in my opinion — the more she has disappeared. Now, she appears purposely bland, over accommodating, and lukewarm and doesn’t seem to put forth any real effort to putting her position to work. She shows up, she smiles, she mumbles through a speech in a false, upperclass accent and goes home. I want to admire her, but I find her such a disappointment.

      • Amy Too says:

I think Kate is not a bad person. I think she’s honestly trying to be a good daughter, daughter in law, wife, mother, granddaughter, whatever. She has things that she is probably very good at: like playing with her kids, making her home feel warm and cozy, playing tennis, listening with patience, or maintaining a close relationship with her mom, dad, and siblings. But she’s not a good senior working royal or future future queen consort in the 21st century. She is not good at her job. And she’s only supposed to get so much press because of her job. But she rarely does her job and she doesn’t do it very well when she does do it. So the saccharine, flowery, over the top praise she gets is annoying. They can’t give her honest praise for doing her job well, so she gets multiple articles written that extol her new hairstyle instead, or she gets praised for things that people project onto her like her “royal demeanor” or “newfound confidence” or “coming into her own.” She gets articles written about how she’s NOT dull, boring, or being cheated on. Seriously? They don’t have enough things to say about her because she doesn’t work and her supposed virtues are all supposed, so they write about the things she isn’t.

      • Same here and I am always fascinated by how it is determined who is worthy of abuse and who absolutely doesn’t deserve it. Because these threads are full of it.

      • Scorpio ♏️ Rants says:

I absolutely agree that there seems to be this underlying “choose a team, the other is your enemy.” on a lot of these threads. They are different women and I simply choose to admire different aspects of each. I’m not choosing a BRF team…as an American, I quit caring that much when we won our Independence in 1776.😊

  9. lee says:

Time will tell. There’s a bullying vacuum that needs to be filled and I’m guessing that we will see press coverage revert to what it was like before M came on the scene, when K definitely was not the darling she is today. I’ve seen it so many times in my life – a bully HAS to have a target, that’s the nature of the beast, so we know that the British press absolutely needs to have a big target in the RF.

    • Brit says:

Kate and William are really going to regret getting in bed with the tabloids. Harry and Meghan were smart in the long run because the press is a never ending circle of blackmail, threats and foolery. It’s not worth it. I honestly feed bad for their children.

    • notasugarhere says:

There will be no bullying vacuum. The press will go in 10,000 times harder against Meghan (and a little bit Harry).

      • Beach Dreams says:

Agreed. They might not have the same (obligatory) level of access to the Sussexes events anymore, but they’ll still be churning out a ton of nasty stories about her. I’m sure some of those tabloids are already setting up some employees in Canada to keep track of the Sussexes.

      • JaneBee87 says:

@beach dreams – what a depressing thought, but clearly you’re right, that’s exactly what they’ll be scrambling to do right now.

      • Bella DuPont says:

        @ Nota

100% correct, again. The press will feel completely unleashed now. They’ll just keep finding new angles to keep tearing her to pieces. The geographical distance won’t make a huge difference at all. I think they need to lobby behind the scenes for some sort of genuine regulatory body to oversee the cesspool that is the British tabloid press. I don’t understand how they can be allowed to incessantly harass/malign anyone to this extent without repercussions.

      • Liz version 700 says:

Agreed I am sure the press will come at them, but they won’t have William providing inside access because he is across the ocean. They will also finally be able to get their projects the attention they wanted. I think they found the bullying by the tabloids awful, but the frustration seemed to center around the Lack of press for their projects and William not allowing them to put their projects out there to help their charities. To be sure though, they now better be in the process of putting their money where their mouth is they’ve got the world watching now .

      • notasugarhere says:

They didn’t have lack of press for their projects. The cover of Vogue is not lack of press. The issue is, William trying to shove them behind him and get them to work less. This was a big reason for moving their press office from KP to BP, so the staff would be working for Harry and Meghan (not working for W&K and undermining everything Harry and Meghan did).

    • Nibbi says:

“bullying vacuum” = you’ve definitely called it.
both the british RF and the british press seem to need to bully. it’ s gross

    • bamaborn says:

You don’t think they’d get desparate enough to start hinting about 🌹 Who again, do you?

      • notasugarhere says:

They don’t need to hint. The Queen made Rose and her husband do a pap stroll with W&K to pretend everybody is friends.

  10. scottiegal says:

Lainey hinted at a pregnancy for her this year. I believe she will get pregnant (or is already is) to avoid work.

  11. S808 says:

They’re going to have to push her to work more and push out projects with actual substance. Good luck Katie Keen!

    • Sally says:

It is always wise to be careful of what you wish for…………..just saying.

    • Chelle says:

My money says those projects will begin to look more like Meghan’s, i.e., more hands on results and outcomes driven. William and Kate truly didn’t and don’t seem to have a blueprint for success of their own. They were allowed to flounder for too long.

      • notasugarhere says:

She lost the person who made it look like she was working. Catherine Quinn left because she wanted a job where she could focus on working hard for charity. Working for future Queen Consort Keen apparently didn’t provide that option.

    • Elisa says:

Here is sth that has baffled me for a while: why doesn’t she simply delegate all the actual work to competent people? I have changed jobs a lot over the last years and there are always bosses who are doing very little but are excellent at hiring the right staff to do the actual work (and sell it as their own) and thus succeed. Kate has all the resources in the world so I don’t get why her projects don’t take off.

      • notasugarhere says:

She already does this. But without someone at the head with good, innovative ideas, there’s nothing much they can do. Broken Britain is all about rehashing what already exists and is known about early childhood, but publishing a report under the ‘Kate Banner’ to try to make it look like she’s done anything in the last nine years.

      • Exactly Elisha. I’ve worked for similar bosses. I think, because she’s just not that in to it. She wants Pippa’s life, but with a crown.

  12. bonobochick says:

Yea, it won’t be nearly as interesting going forward. I also don’t see Kate picking up the slack work-wise post Sussexes.

Oh well, the Cambridges wanted the full spotlight so I hope they enjoy all of it that comes their way.

  13. Guest says:

I almost feel sorry for her (ALMOST!). It is going to be a long, hard, and inevitable fall off of this pedestal.

    • Digital Unicorn says:

Yep and she won’t get support from her husband, he’ll resort to throwing her under the bus to protect himself.

      • Sally says:

Hubby will be very busy…pruning the rose’s……………….lololololol

      • Beach Dreams says:

It seems she was already quietly tossed under; yesterday an article in USA Today speculated that the leak came from “the Duchess of Cambridge’s secretary”. So Christian Jones apparently only works for Kate now.

      • Rapunzel says:

Digital Unicorn- you know, I sometimes wonder if it isn’t slick Willy’s plan to get Kate on a pedestal and then knocked off so he can look good divorcing her.

If, as some have speculated, he really loves Rose, I’m wondering if his plan isn’t to use the Midds to leak negative H&M stories, drive H&M away, then, make Kate look golden, only to have her exposed as the villain in driving H&M away, so he can have his affair with Rose revealed, and then cue the stories of, “he loved Rose but broke it off to be loyal to Kate, and Kate betrayed him.” Then Rose divorces her hubby and he gets to garden full time. Queen “Rose Who?”, anyone?

He then smooths things over with H&M, and gets credit for bringing them back into the fold by blaming every problem on Kate and the scheming Middletons.

My tin foil tiara is tight this morning, obviously.

      • layla beans says:

@Rapunzel – I like your tinfoil hat. I am not sure he would bring back H&M into the fold but I could see him turfing Kate, waiting a while, and then hooking up with Rose publicly. Worked for his dad – no one cares now that he married his mistress and screwed over his ex-wife. Charles and Camilla are soulmates kept apart by outside forces, dontchaknow? Rose and William can be the same one day.

I need to be sick. This family, my God.

      • Chelle says:

They’ll also show more pictures of the kids to distract.

      • JaneBee87 says:

@Rapunzel I would actually find it somewhat reassuring if Bill possessed the brain cells needed to plan and pull that off 😂

      • aria says:

omg i can totally get your theory on william divorcing kate. because until now i dont belive william would do that because of his image etc. Also i happen to belive those tarot readers in tumblr who sure that cambrige never divorce, meghan will divorce in 5 months. I was stupid to believe them. This is win for william because if people can accept this behavior from harry like stepping down and how everyone public talks about harry should be happy and enjoy his life. many people argue that british public should not feel like they own royal family. These positive coverage make william more push into divorcing her. We can see that in up coming months. He was clearly unhappy with her, he was always looking for someone better but none showed up. I think he will do this after queen died. SO can argue that current king is divorce and marry someone like rose. If rose too, she might come up with his hubby being gay or died?. None of the middletons are happy even in the carribean holiday they have resting bitch face. usually carole and pippa smile for camera and this time nothing. ALso this is press way of building kate up and knock her down. they did with meghan and we know how these goes. I dont think press will leave kate and its going to be 100 times worst. Only kate is there for press. If they divorce william do the same thing with rose where charles reaarnge camilla public image and painted diana as crazy. The real shit show just started. In the abseces of sussex we already seen shrug gate drama, rose, william and kate in same chruch. lets wait and watch.

    • February Pisces says:

It’s kinda remains me if Taylor swift 2017. She was all over the place with her supermodel squad following her singing her praises. She was a media darling and recieved nothing but praise with that “Bad Blood’ track even though it was clearly passive aggressive bullying towards Katy Perry. And then stitching up Kanye to play to poor innocent wholesome white woman who was wronged by an angry black man. The thing with Taylor is she OVER PLAYED her innocent wholesome perfect girl image. When you play that card excessively it leaves no room for controversy whatsoever. When Kim and Kanye exposed her, she was pretty much DONE. She had to lay low for a very long time and her image has never quite been the same since. Taylor got too cocky and thought she was invincible, she was wrong. Kate take note.

    • lara (the other) says:

I am wondering if this embiggening is also a way to make sure Kate nerver ever starts to speak up.
Buliding her up, especially after the rosebushes, and at the same time showing her, what they can do to a far more acomplished and engaged duchess.
And the higher the pedestal, the harder the fall.
If I would be her, I would be totally afraid to do anything that could anger the RF or the press.

      • Elisa says:

Hmmmm, but I’m sure Kate (and Carole) have all the dirt on the RF and know where the skeletons are buried (she has been part of this family for a long time by now). And Carole has good media connections so IMO it’s exactly the other way around.

      • aria says:

elisa, they will have go after charles and william. they will bury carole middleton.

      • MsIam says:

@Elisa, that is why Carole and the rest of the MIddletons must go. They are a threat. I bet Charles has a copy of the receipts that Harry and his team came up with from the lawsuit or however they got them. Look for him to use that against Carole. And I think William will use that to get Kate to agree to a quiet divorce. Charles is the future king, you think he will let himself or his son be held hostage by these people? Nah, not seeing that happen. No wonder Kate is looking so sad and drawn lately.

      • notasugarhere says:

I’m sure the royals have plenty of dirt on the Middletons, their offshore accounts, how much they are really worth, violent Daddy Matthews, and all the dirt on convicted wife beater Uncle Gary.

    • Amaria says:

I know – tinfoil hat – but the idea that Wills may be orchestrating public backlash against Kate to make divorce easier PR-wise sounds possible. He settled for her because there were no other options, all the hot aristo girls turned him down. Now there’s Rose, and if he loves her, he could go far for their relationship. Divorce and the crown don’t exclude each other anymore in BRF – but for that, he would need Kate to have bad, bad press. To put her publicly on an absurdly high pedestal means there will, inevitably, be a downfall. But if all that were true, it would mean Wills is a smart dude and a good PR strategist, for which we don’t have any proof so far.

      • aria says:

yes finally someone with common sense. william doesnt love her , he only married her because he doesnt have any girls he wanted. now he has rose and divorce is no longer problem anymore. IF he does mostly after queen died which is not long with current drama in rf. I think more drama for royal family comes when andy cout hearing.

      • Why does everyone believe Rose is the love of his life? Maybe just another night out in a list of night outs that will stretch as far into the future as it has in his past. If Kate plays the game, she’s probably safe because of the kids. If not, Charles/Diana divorce probably has William thinking I can always go that way. I think Kate is on board for now.

      • What. . .now? says:

Yes, but what if Rose doesn’t love Will in return? Maybe he was just a dalliance, nothing more, nothing less. Her position in the aristocracy is an enviable one. Her husband is a Marquess an Earl (which his oldest son, Alexander holds now at age 11) and is the Lord Great Chamberlain.

Also, let’s talk about Houghton Hall versus Anmer Hall. Anmer really looks like hut in comparison to the actually spectacular, palatial Houghton Hall. Let’s not forget they “Chumley’s” ALSO have Chalmondeley Castle in Cheshire with over 7500 acres of land. Loads of priceless artwork and gorgeous gardens.

Plus, Rose and her hubby have a really good standing with the folks of Norfolk — they are liked by local people and they are, as I mentioned, at the tippy top of royal society. She and David have 3 young children, and she can come and go as she pleases.

WHY WOULD SHE GIVE THAT UP FOR WILLIAM THE BLAND?

      • A says:

Are people forgetting that Rose, herself, is married? To a very rich, very eligible man, who has a title, with whom she has 3 children? I mean. Even if William were to divorce Kate, the notion that Rose would divorce her own husband to run off with William and become the Queen is bananas. Rose has everything that she wants. She has a perfectly good life and I HIGHLY doubt she’d throw all that away for f-cking William and the requisite media spotlight that would come with it. It’s highly doubtful that the media would treat her with any respect. Why would Rose ever risk that?

      • Lucy De Blois says:

JA: You may be right. But the sudden recent drastic loss of wait, the forced smiles, the clear coldness between them might be a signal this time is more serious than the others.

The slogan of his great-grandmother’s day was: “the girls should fall in love and fall in line”. Not anymore. Charles changed it all making the divorce of a king, acceptable. Even if she plays the game, there will be nothing to do if Will won’t. And boy! She’s certainly playing the game, desperately.

I didn’t see it as a coincidence: the day before, at the Church with the queen, she looked like if she had cried all night (please, that’s not tiredness). The next day, Rose was in the group (her birthday i think) going to the church with them. And Carole or Kate weren’t sportting those bright, fhashy smiles.

      • Lucy De Blois says:

A: Rose is married to a guy who’s living most of the year in France with his boyfriend in a very luxurious appartment they have as it’s well known (thanks to the press).

I’m not saying she was not aware of this little problem when she married. Certainly she was and it’s ok for her.

But things change, weather change, people change. What was a good arrangement for her before, might not be now.
And in Rose’s case, I think she might not have everything she wants.

  14. Sass says:

    Her SLENDER SHOULDERS

    WHAT

    GAG ME

    • My3cents says:

Yup, there wasnt enough emphasis on her slim figure and groundbreaking hairstyle like last time.

    • Kath says:

I know!! She’s white and SKINNY!!! Someone we can really rely on to look the part.

    • Liz version 700 says:

Sass I know! It is straight out of a penny dreadful. Her slender (white but obsessively tanned) shoulders holding forth against the violent wind causing her to feel all at sea. Our fragile slender heroine. 🤦🏻‍♀️

  15. Chaine says:

Ya gotta wonder if Camilla ever gets offended at s*** like this. I mean, shouldn’t SHE be the jewel in Charles’s crown?

    • Katherine says:

I doubt it. I’m kinda obsessed with Camilla’s whole dgaf vibe. She just has that older experienced woman confident day drinker feel that can’t be bothered with pettiness and game playing. She reminds me so much of one of my great aunts and I just want to hang out with her.

      • Jane'sWastedTalent says:

She reminds me of one of my aunts too! Especially in her sense of humor and how she’s gotten Charles to loosen up and laugh on occasion.

      • horseandhound says:

camilla is really cool. if I were part of their circle, I’d hang out with camilla. also, I likie kate. I don’t think she should be mocked like she is. she seems like a decent woman. why should she be exciting and flashy? her being introverted and reserved doesn’t make her less of a person.

      • Kristina says:

@Karherine that just cracked me up. I love it! Lol

      • JaneBee87 says:

@horseandhound I don’t think people want her to be exciting and flashy, I think they want her to commit to a higher workload commensurate to her position, and they would have liked her to have shown symbolic support to Meghan – e.g. by wearing a piece from the Smart Works collection, by shutting down rumours that Meghan was a bridezilla who made Kate cry. Kate would be perfectly aware that she has benefitted hugely from Meghan’s presence, at enormous cost to Meghan. I think it’s unfair to pit these two against one another, but I don’t think Kate’s behaviour has been ‘decent’ in this regard.

      • Sarah says:

I can’t help it. I have such a fondness for Camilla. She looks like she’d be a riot to spend the day with.

    • Alexandria says:

She is the jewel for Charles but I think Camilla doesn’t take herself that seriously.

      • I also like Camilla, but she knows how to play the long game too. Charles and Diana weren’t the only ones behaving badly and cruelly in that triangle. That being said, I do like this Camilla 2.0.

  16. Lurker says:

I want to be a fly on the wall at Kensington. Notice they did another school drive today? This time starring William. I suspect Kate was inside having a nervous breakdown at figuring out a way to avoid all the work she’s about to have thrust on her.

    • Becks1 says:

Those school run pics are such obvious PR. Even Richard Palmer made a comment about it, lol.

      • Lurker says:

They are and I know it was Willy’s turn to look normal. It doesn’t change the fact they’re both having nervous breakdowns about the idea of doing more work. Whatever will Kate do if she has to do more than 80 engagements this year? William is arsed because he can’t take his helicopter to events.

      • carmen says:

Yes, why all of a sudden does she get “spotted” – don’t they go to school every day and have been doing so for a while now?

  17. Beach Dreams says:

LOL. The excerpts from the article have a barely disguised desperation. “She must do this for her husband; she must do that for her eldest son! But she’ll be totally fine because she’s the future queen!!”

Between these constant kiss-ass stories and whatever deal is in place with the press, Kate better get ready to be papped ‘candidly’ (again, lol) in school runs and other private life things more often. They’ll be expecting a lot more of her now, especially to keep her husband’s rose-pruning out of the news. If she doesn’t announce baby #4 by the end of the year I’ll be shocked.

    • aria says:

i dont think she will be pregant. From the start william only wnated heir and spare but kate was the only pushing for it and not to work because of it. With william ski trips and embrassment, william have deal with kate to have louis(feel sorry for that kid). Now kate was hoping for 4 kid and with rose story , she thought william might accept it but william become braver to bring his mistress and wife to same chruch at same time. I think kate might freaked out that william might possibly divorce her and go for rose becaue she is blue blood and we know how royal feels about blue blood and they welcome meghan and camilla so divorcee wont be an issue. with her disappering smile everyday is very clear. No amount mcqueen gowns will bring her happiness back. One thing i learned from these people and celebities marriage is that when you go with wrong intension in heart like by marrying for materilaist things or saving you from your drepession it will end up in bad shape. You have to marry the person with pure heart. i bet zillion dollar that william doesnt have that pure heart towards kate and he doesnt truly love her. If jecca was willing to royal duty, he would have ditch kate in a secconds.

      • fatladysinging says:

Though I understand your thought process, I disagree that William will ever divorce Kate. There’s no need; she accepts his extracurricular activity. Plus, he’s image conscience enough to know that divorcing her would look TERRIBLE!

And Kate will never divorce him.

      • aria says:

fat lady kate wont but william might be. he doesnt love her and now divorce is no problem in rf, finally she might make some moves. they even accept edo who have son with ex fiances. these things made william braver to bring his mistress and kate to chruch.

  18. Maria says:

“She has coped with…rumours about her marriage and accusations of being dull and boring”
    LOL! The shade.

  19. Daisyfly says:

    Waity Katie.
    Persistent Princess.
    Determined Duchess.
    Royally Resigned Robot.

  20. nina says:

    That is so pathetic.
In 8 years in the royal family kate did nothing impactful and only woke up once she felt threatened by meghan’s popularity.
At least any highly qualified and experienced woman will marry in that circus will know that kate and her husband will find their happiness in assassinating her character.

  21. Sarah says:

Lol! She’s a regular Jane Seymour compared to that awful Anne Boleyn. 😆

    • Maria says:

At least Jane Seymour spoke up for the abbeys and was promptly shut down. And defended Princess Mary.
Kate speaks for nothing and defends no one, lol.
      (sorry. Tudor stan here)

  22. AprilMay says:

I think the Cambs will be surprised just how quickly the media will turn on them now the sussexes have taken A step back. For now they’ll be built up as so dutiful blah blah blah compared to Harry and Meghan. But once that calms down and depending on how long the sussexes are away the media will get bored just like they did before H&M got engaged.
The Cambs are really going to have to step it up and I don’t think they will.

    • Yeah, I think William has short-sidedly played the short game with the press. But, the British tabloids like the taste of blood and will feed it whatever it takes. The long game is going to be loooong and toxic for the Cambridges I think.

      • aria says:

yes yes this is what i have been saying this for long time. when diana was leaking about charles and camilla , diana was prasied. when she left and no more stories about camilla and charles , the press quickly turned against her. This will be same for cambridge mostly for kate. William will do whatever to protect his image , he might even throw kate under bus. its going to be nasty.

      • Nic919 says:

I think there are still several months of attacking Harry and Meghan by the tabloids. However, eventually they will turn on the Cambridges, and they will go after Kate before William. The media will protect the blood royal over the married in. Even Diana, who had tons of popular support got attacked a lot by the media. Kate is nowhere near as popular and thus an easier media target.

  23. Ames says:

That anybody takes this fatuous toadying seriously defies reason or explanation.

The “source”-dependent British press should consider lobbying to make being passive aggressive, petty, and gleefully stupid all at once an Olympic sport. They’d dominate.

Express, 2011, re Kate’s wedding bouquet: “She is evidently well-versed in the language of flowers; Like the bride herself the bouquet was effortlessly elegant and understated.”

Express, 2019, re Meghan’s wedding bouquet: “Express.co.uk can now reveal the children’s crowns were made of flowers that can be deadly, especially for children; As Meghan’s bridesmaids were so young, [it] could be considered a dangerous decision.”

Soooo… just so we’re clear: Kate speaks flower and floats on petals, and Meghan tried to poison children.

    I just … I can’t.

    • notasugarhere says:

Pippa’s flowers for children also included lily of the valley (the ‘poison’ one), but no one accused Pippa of trying to kill Charlotte the bridesmaid.

      • Maria says:

I believe Kate’s bridesmaids also had lily of the valley crowns – as we can see, Lady Louise Windsor is fine.

  24. Ames says:

Any word on how they keep Kate from wandering away every time she sees something shiny?

    • (TheOG)@jan90067 says:

Probably a head cone, with a slit open just angled enough for her to see Big Blue on her hand.

      • A ring she wouldn’t have if Harry hadn’t given it up for William to give it to Kate. When William and Harry decided up Diane’s jewelry, it was reported that Harry got the ring. It was then reported that he gave it to William to give to Kate as he thought it would honor his mother to have the future Queen of England wear her ring. Harry has always been the better man.

      • notasugarhere says:

Stolen, not given up in exchange. I’ll bet William still has the Cartier watch.

  25. Rapunzel says:

Lol….Carole is going overboard setting up good press for Katie Keen because she knows her days of access to the press are numbered.

If the rumors that the Middletons are in involved in leaking negative Sussex stories are true, and H&M really got proof in their lawsuit, it game over for Ma Midds. And if her machinations get out in the press, she’s gonna regret the day she first made Willy Rosebush cheesy toast.

    • Mrs.Krabapple says:

I wondered whether the lawsuit would reveal leaks coming from within the family. That certainly would explain the excessive attempts to “sell” Kate as the perfect future queen, before the fecal matter hits the rotating ventilator.

  26. Meg says:

Honestly this is what toxic families/groups do, praise people who don’t acknowledge the reality of their behavior and the situation. So theyre passive aggressively criticizing truth tellers who acknowledge the toxicity which in this case is of course Meghan and harry

  27. kerwood says:

Kate needs to watch her back because she’s going to have to live up to all of this crap. Being the woman SHE is and having the family she has (natural-born and married), she’s got a lot on her plate. And we know how much Kate likes that! She’s probably going to stay pregnant for the next 20 years.

  28. Feeshalori says:

Why do I need sugar in my coffee when I can just dump this article in it?

  29. leigh says:

Having the Embiggened Kate in our face is the price we’ll have to pay to know that somewhere in Canada Meghan and Harry and Archie are out having a picnic without a tabloid shouting that their picnic blanket killed approximately 3,000 blades of grass while they were sitting on it.

I totally agree that the tabloids need a negative story. Maybe there will be more of a payoff now to follow Rose and Wills around in the hopes for a smoking gun?

    • bamaborn says:

Leigh…those are my thoughts exactly. They might get desparate and start following Wills heli around to see if it lands near any 🌹 bushes. Lol

  30. AnnaKist says:

And that’s why Meghan had to be sidelined. My son’s partner did the same to his sister. Our family has still not recovered, and likely never will. A lovely fave doesn’t mean a lovely heart.

  31. Angie says:

I’m happy for Harry and Meghan to do what’s best for them- truly I do, cuz the media against them is gross…. but I don’t really understand why all the hate towards Kate? She’s doing exactly what she is expected to do as part of a Monarchy. Yes it’s antiquated, FOR SURE, but the purpose of the Royal Family is to unite its people by being a stable, neutral entity. I know that’s not what we want in this day and age of “let’s change this! Let’s improve that!” But this is what the Royal Family’s role is. I don’t know, it just seems SO skewed to me, no?

    • notasugarhere says:

Kate’s role is not breed, be silent, and be lazy. She is part of the third royal couple of the land. She’s supposed to be working hard for the people. All the other royal consorts manage to do this while raising happy kids, but Kate fans insist she is incapable of doing more. The constant infantilising of their fav says a lot.

    • Guest says:

The hate (it’s actually disdain – hate is too strong an emotion) for kate is because it is widely (and credibly) believed that she, her mother, and her husband were actively feeding negative stories to various gossip mongers to make her look better; she has never really stepped up to the plate work-wise; she never once defended her sister-in-law during a constant barage of negative and dangerous narratives (a lot of it while she was pregnant and really vulnerable) because, well, see above.

    • Alexandria says:

She is allowed to be, for lack of a better word, dull. Most of the royals lack natural charisma anyway if you set aside the pomp and pageantry. But she’s not meant to be lazy in this role. Sophie is not very glamorous nor charismatic but she’s not lazy. Pippa really got the deal Kate wanted.

      • Mrs.Krabapple says:

And I think Kate got the deal Pippa wanted. I don’t know whether Kate ever *really* wanted William, but I think her family pushed her to “land” him and after a while she invested so much time in the chase that she couldn’t let him go, or else her entire 20’s would have been wasted.

But Pippa seemed like she desperately wanted a title. I remember the Middletons trying to float the story that Harry and Pippa were a thing, until Harry had to publicly deny it. Then Pippa chased a string of peerage boys, none of whom wanted to actually marry her, before she ended up with her rich-but-boring-no-title husband. I think if the sisters had switched places, they may both have been happier.

    • MsIam says:

I believe Kate’s days are numbered in the RF. William is already tired of her and feels she served her purpose. If it turns out her family is behind/involved in this mess, Charles and the royals will spin it that they “influenced William to turn against his own brother!” and therefor must go. William is the heir and in their thinking he must be protected above all else. Kate is expendable.

      • aria says:

yes very true . only his needs are matter and he wont be afraid to throw kate under bus. atleast charles have the desecenty to protect camilla from bad press.

      • February Pisces says:

The middletons will get their karma when the time is right. There is a reason why kate is clinging on for dear life, once she’s out she’s completely finished. Meghan and Harry can happily walk away and know they are gonna thrive even more. The only thing kate has to feel proud of is that she’s ‘royal’. It only recently dawned on me that the whole ‘skip a generation’ press campaign from a few years ago was probably masterminded by Ma Middleton, as a way to get William and Kate on the throne faster and overthrow Charles.

    • kerwood says:

@Angie, any woman who can take advantage of the kind of vicious assault that the Duchess of Sussex has endured, for her own personal gain, is beneath contempt as far as I’m concerned.

Add that Keen Katie’s boring, lazy, pretentious and incapable of putting two sentences together and I think that her fans are getting the heroine they so RICHLY deserve.

    • Svetlana says:

This. I think Kate is doing exactly what she should be doing, what she signed on for. Some may see it as boring and vacuous, but then could we not say the same about the Queen? Kudos to both of them.

      • Nic919 says:

The Queen works and puts in hundreds of engagements on top of the red boxes. Kate has been the laziest married in for years. Dull is not the problem. Lazy is.

    • I see her much the same way, she is doing what the BRF expects her to do. While some have other expectations as far as work, projects, appearance etc., ultimately her employer is TRF and by all accounts (not opinions) she is doing exactly what they want her to do.

  32. Guest2.0 says:

Gosh, what fan fiction. How can anyone write such garbage. I’m just hoping the gutter press don’t follow them to Canada and continue the stalking. I’m sure it will take some time for interest in them to die down, but hopefully the Sussexes will be alright.

    • yinyang says:

As long they are not taking from taxpayers, Canadians will adore them and won’t let the British trash them or we’ll trash back.

  33. Toot says:

I would say good luck to the UK with Catherine the Great, but Brexit and this whole situation with Sussexes and their treatment by the media that alot of the UK believe in droves has turned me off completely of your nation and feel ya’ll get what you deserve from great Kate and Willy.

Sorry to those over there with some sense.

The nerve these rags feel able to post about M&H thinking about their family unit first as a negative.

  34. Charfromdarock says:

    “ She is a sweet-tempered, gentle-natured woman but has a core of steel … ”

In other words, Meghan is weak to not endure the “press”.

    • Are we talking about Tunsten” here? Isn’t that what Charles nicknamed Meghan because of her strength. I think both Charles and William know for sure now just how strong Meghan is.

  35. notasugarhere says:

    LOL at the headline

  36. MellyMel says:

Building her up now, to tear her down later. Good luck Kate!

  37. MsIam says:

That headline is an insult to the queen. I think Kate (and her mother) should watch her back thinking she is untouchable in all this. She may find a bus being driven over her.

    • Mrs.Krabapple says:

And insulting to Charles, and Camilla, and William. None of them need Katie Keen to “save” the monarchy.

  38. Myra says:

Wait did they say Kate was dull and boring…LOL. The Brits are CRAZY

  39. kirsh says:

    OK, Carole!
” If the Sussexes are only here half the year then it will fall to William and Kate to pick up the slack with more engagements, more pressure, and that has not even been considered.”
Poor things, they will actually have to leave the house 3 times a week to wave at the Peasants.

  40. Myra says:

Kaiser, please continue to cover the Cambridge’s. We need to hear your opinion because there is NO ONE that covers the Royals like you…pure HONESTY

  41. Nibbi says:

The headline alone makes me queasy here
The obvious FAWNING. & grabbing for straws… (welp, ok, her shoulders are indeed slender, there’s that)

  42. Loretta says:

    This is so embarassing.

  43. L4frimaire says:

Kate is smart to keep her head down because the minute she says anything remotely “ woke” or nice about the Sussexes, they’ll come for her. If she gets too much attention, more than her husband, he won’t like it at all. Her role is fairly well defined, just she and Wills just didn’t want to do it for years. Now they have to and no one will say anything. She can do whatever she wants now, but for her, that’s just keeping up appearances.

  44. yinyang says:

Their private secretary has advised William and Kate to stay as quiet as possible right now. Any stir and it’ll call attention to this immoral institution that Harry is so uncomfortable with he had to leave.

  45. Coco says:

Yeah, yeah, we get it, gutter press:
Kate walks on water, while Meghan melts when you throw a bucket of it on her.

  46. My3cents says:

Early years initiative? They’ll be senior citizens by the time it’s launched.

  47. L4frimaire says:

Once the Sussexes have moved on, I’m pretty much done with the Royal family and will only bounce back in if the Sussexes do anything for the Firm or show up for events like TOC. And as difficult as it may be, it would look much better for all parties if they stay somewhat visible, to look like there is some unity. Other than that, politics and primaries beckon. I’ll continue to follow and root for Harry and Meghan but the rest, not interested.

  48. The Recluse says:

    Bahahahahahahaha!
Kate – suddenly- became more active, dutiful, blah, blah, blah when Meghan came on the scene.
So. Either she is going to regress into old, withdrawn habits of self indulgence or she’s going to paddle in a panic now that there is no one to divert attention.
Expect to see the precious children to be trotted out on a frequent basis.

  49. Emily says:

The media makes everything about building up and tearing down women. It’s basically her emails.

It’s impossible for the media to be kind to two women at once. Before Meghan, the media wasn’t kind to Kate. Once Meghan came on to the scene they got into full cat fight mode and suddenly Kate an angel and Meghan a devil. God forbid both women be seen in shades of grey. I like both women – who married into this trash family. My problem is with William and Charles, the future monarchs, who actually have power and choose how and when to use it. They aren’t getting the same level of reporting. But of course THE WOMEN! Like come on, Harry chose to leave responsibilities from HIS family but it’s the derogatory Megixt (thank you for always using Sussexit)

  50. Basi says:

Question. Has anyone else heard the rumor about a falling out between Kate and Meghan over WhatsApp a few months ago?? They severed all ties.

If yes…wonder what it was about.

    • Peg says:

What I read was that the Sussexes got off the Royal WhatsApp Group, six months ago, of course they will make It about Kate and Meghan. This WhatsApp group includes all the young Royals.

  51. Peg says:

One of the US Tabloids said, Cain is worried about how thin Kate is, a so called Doctor, said she weighs 115 lbs, not enough for her height.
Apparently all the work she is doing, she is just too busy to eat.

  52. Lila says:

She should enjoy it while it lasts. The RR aren’t going to be sunshine and roses forever. At some point William is going back to trimming the roses, or Charles is going to get jealous of her positive press, or Pedo will do something else atrocious and they’ll have to distract from it.

  53. Guest says:

Eventually the shine will wear off. Acting like kate is the next mother Theresa will not sale papers. She hasnt changed. Her and husband are still lazy and eventually that karma will catch up.

  54. Nicegirl says:

Pretty sure she also walks on water. 🤣

  55. Penguin says:

She had good press at the moment. But the press is a fickle thing. In 5 years time, once all the other scapegoats have fled- she maybe the only punching bag to deflect from William

    • Ina says:

I was going to say the same thing! Eventually, the press will have to find a scapegoat to generate intrigue and sales and it will boomerang back to doormat Kate.

  56. bamaborn says:

I don’t get the majority of British people. They’ve managed to run the Duchess out of the country, which is what they said they wanted, yet they appear to still be angry. What gives?

    • Mrs.Krabapple says:

I suspect they wanted Harry to divorce Meghan, not stand by her. And, they wanted to see Meghan fail — but by all accounts, Harry and Meghan are willing to do the work it takes to make their foundations into big successes. They have connections, drive, work ethic, etc. The racists are probably bitter that Meghan still has her husband and so many prospects in front of her.

      • Eugh says:

I agree, it all heated up in stages. Stage 1 was after the wedding with the making Kate cry, diva stuffy smell in the church, and tiara gate leaks. Stage 2 heated up when she was pregnant because she sealed the deal. They/vipers/public hoped she would not last, and now blame her for taking their favourite ginger son (when it probably his idea to start with).

  57. mj says:

I used to think the same re: Koh-i-noor, but “spoils of war” are a reality. Conquest is intrinsically unfair. And, let’s not pretend if the situation were reversed we’d voluntarily return artifacts. Yes, Brits colonized India, but they had help from within India. The same goes for India’s freedom – wouldn’t have been possible without some help from Brits. Nothing is completely black or white. And, before anyone goes off on a tangent, this doesn’t mean I welcome or condone colonization.

    • aria says:

actually indian freedom is mostly due to mountbatten wife having affair with former prime minister of india mr. nehru. thats why mountbatten rushed freedom movement in india. Its been long joke among us indian that gandhi doesnt give us freedom only nehru did because of his affair. Mountbatten wife is known to have many affairs in her colorful life.

      • A says:

@aria, that’s not true, and I’d urge you to learn about Indian history from something other than salacious Whatsapp forwards created by people who have a specific bone to pick with the INC and Nehru, lmao.

    • Mrs.Krabapple says:

Spoils of war may be a reality, but some of the damage can be easily undone. I do not ask that countries like the USA or Canada return all land to the first peoples, because that simply is not feasible. But, what is stopping Britain from returning the Koh-i-Noor diamond? Nothing, other than “I don’t want to.” To me, “I don’t want to” is not sufficient excuse to keep something of such historical and intrinsic value away from the people of its origin.

      • mihie says:

They don’t have to return it. They know that makes them look bad. Until it actually benefits them (to return it) in a way they care about, it’s not going to happen. And India doesn’t care enough to pressurize them in a way that might work either. No, I don’t know what either of the ways might be, and tbh I don’t care. India has real problems without having to worry about who owns the rights to a rock.

    • A says:

“It wouldn’t have been possible without the Brits” Ah yes, good old Dickie Mounbatten, who rushed the entire process of freedom, tried to get it done in July and had to push it to August, so set it for August 15th because he wanted it to coincide with the day that WW2 ended out of his own personal ego, and completely ignored the warnings that EVERY SINGLE SANE PERSON IN INDIA raised at the time regarding sectarian issues and the partitioning of the country, all because he wanted to rush the process and get it done as quickly as possible, even though this meant the deaths of literally MILLIONS of people because him and the rest of his negotiators were too stupid and shortsighted and more concerned about the glory of being the one to do this job rather than actually taking the time to do it right. Because hey, it’s just a bunch of brown people right? We breed like rabbits, so who cares if a few million of us are senselessly slaughtered because of a poorly executed and ill thought out plan that was, until the end, more concerned with Britain’s international image as opposed to Indian or Pakistani lives lol. We’re just expendable, aren’t we?

Decolonization is more than just returning land or items to the original people. It’s a process that’s been talked about at great length by many folks, if anyone cares to find out anything about it. Colonizers deigning to treat the colonized like equal people isn’t “help.” You don’t get cookies for doing what you’re SUPPOSED to do. The fact that “we” wouldn’t do the same thing is beside the point–it’s equally wrong when anyone does it, and the fact that India has also dispossessed people throughout its history doesn’t make this justifiable.

      • Aria says:

I’m Indian too and it was joke that goes around. Nothing serious I’m sure our ancestors fight for our freedom and this is the joke

  58. Jumpingthesnark says:

I do think Kate genuinely enjoys being a Mom/ her kids and sports/athletics. But I don’t ever get the sense that Kate is “thriving” . More like she is keeping her Mama and now Bill happy.

    • aria says:

if she enjoys being mom then she should have married any normal rich person like pippa. when you marry into crown then you have to do the work not to use kids as excuse. more like helping william happy. everything kate does revolve around william and his needs.

      • A says:

She wants to be Queen. And she’s prepared to endure any amount of unhappiness if it means she’ll get there. People think she has any other ulterior motives, and the fact is, she likely doesn’t. She’s in it for the long haul. And that’s what people will praise her for. That she stuck around.

  59. Liz version 700 says:

Yes thanks. I know Kate was photographed at the whole foods so poor example. I just think Meghan and Harry will get attention naturally because they care. Will has proven to be very jealous of any attention that he can’t control. I see the Mids doubling down, but their “party pieces empire” and closeness to the worst of the British tabloids does not extend to the global press. They will judge active charitable endeavors more favorably and King Middleton the 1st is getting ready to be hit by the backlash of treating his brother’s family like expendable targets and of Charles ongoing efforts to humble him a bit.

  60. RoyalBlue says:

I predict the Cambridges are thrilled and will be on easy street. She doesn’t have to do anything and she will still get praise. That’s white privilege. The DOC will no longer feel the need to have a pet project. She and her husband can do the fun summer sailing gig and run around the world giving out prizes for his eco project and sitting on tree swings and never actually have to account to anyone for not saving broken Britain. She doesn’t have to actually do anything but show up and look pretty in fancy designer clothes. The media have still trained their guns on the Sussexes and are trying their best to destroy their reputation and hamper their fund rising efforts. They got their first mission of driving them out so now they will continue the onslaught. It’s terrible. And the members of parliament and public figures are silent.

    • aria says:

no i dont think press will go after them in full force because the main leaks about press is from palace. Also they fight back aginst press in court becasue they gave up their taxpayer money which the press is holding a leavage to go after them. i think its going to hell for kate not william. her unhappines is clearly seen in those picture.

    • A says:

I kind of agree. If the monarchy makes it long enough for William to become King, I definitely think that people will think of Kate fondly and look at her legacy for the sum of its parts rather than the details. They’ll think she’s a beautiful, glamorous commoner, who came from humble beginnings, whose parents worked hard and made something of themselves, who stayed silent and was always constant, and never faltered. They’ll write about her love story with William as something for the ages. She had there beautiful children. And there will be no one left to remember the facts about her.

  61. Sunshine says:

I truly wish the Cambridge’s well in the knowledge that karma comes around a lot quicker these days. But hell, Trump got elected President after undermining Obama for 9 years. Sigh.

    • BarbN says:

Sunshine, being President IS serious karma for Trump. He will now be forever known as the incompetent, impeached, con-man, liar and all-around evil player who followed a president who embodied all the high character, dignity, intelligence and compassion that Trump has never had and will never understand. It will be in the history books for all to see.
Had Trump remained a private citizen, his evil would have stayed (more or less) under the radar. He is a modern-day Icarus, trying to fly to the sun on wax wings and a major case of Hubris. The wings are melting, slowly but surely, and he WILL plummet into the sea and be lost – with lots of people watching and cheering.
Karmic justice shows up in weird ways. Too much public scrutiny of one’s life and doings can do the job quite well, sometimes. Fame, however it arrives, can be a right old bitch.

  62. WM says:

I’m sure the Cambridge’s are upset because they can no longer use Harry and Meghan as a shield from the press and throw them to the wolves, when convenient. Will and Kate have turned out to be the absolute worst. I never cared about the royal family until Harry and Meghan got married. I guess it was naive to be excited that an American was in the mix and start planning my first trip to England. The whole awful thing has been really eye opening and such a poor reflection on the royal family and the British press. Sad.

  63. Kris says:

Is toxic femininity a thing? It should be. Kate is its ideal: silent. Endlessly ‘supportive’ of everything her husband does (i.e. a doormat). Extremely thin. Content to play dress up in expensive clothes, a perfect ideal of a ‘doting’ mother who’s whole world revolves around her kids (which is why she works so little, despite having all that help at home). Toxic femininity. Shes literally everything I dont want to be, and which women have been trying to liberate themselves of, for decades. And yet, here it is, portrayed as feminine perfection. 🙁

They’re really well suited to the exact type of demographic they’re attempting to appeal to. The Brexit class, the white Little England types, the people who think the colonies should be grateful to Britain for “civilizing” them.

Frankly, I don’t think I’ll be following the royal family all that closely after this. I was ambivalent on Kate before Meghan arrived, and I liked her fashion somewhat, but after all of what’s happened, it’s evaporated my desire to give much of a f-ck about anything they do. I’m sure my opinion counts for very little, since I don’t live in Britain, but if anything, I think it’s taken away any sense of sentimentalism I might have had about the monarchy. Between them being so impossibly racist, to their continued defense of Prince Andrew’s behaviour, I’m more firmly convinced now, than I’ve ever been, that the monarchy has to be abolished. There is nothing left to really hook me in that might make me rethink that stance any longer.

I’ll keep up with Willy’s shenanigans, and I know in my soul that these two are gonna f-ck something up, BIG TIME, in the future, and I’ll keep an eye on them for the drama and the gossip, but otherwise? They’re all a big fat zero to me. Which is, I’m sure, exactly how the Queen wants the family to be. Congratulations to her for that I suppose.

ETA: As a Canadian, rest assured that I’m going to be supporting any efforts to get rid of the monarchy and become a republic. I’ve hesitated on this front in the past because I have a few indigenous friends who have pointed out the logistic issues wrt treaties that have been negotiated with the Crown as an entity. So I will only be supporting any efforts on this front that will support indigenous rights and take their lead on this one. But the monarchy has got to go. It’s a ridiculously outdated institution that predicates its existence on the ego of a single person. There are flaws to this system that go well beyond its inherent inequality, imo.

I read today that although they trademarked RoyalSuxxes ( I know I spelled it wrong) in England they neglected to do so in America. Someone bought the name & said they will give it back to them for free, if they promise to pay attention to business details in the future. The man said if they don’t want it he will use it in business, which deals with intellectual properties.

I think Kate’s insecurity really shines through in these embiggening pieces. The second Diana and Meghan came on the scene they were the tabloids obsession. It was never ending for Diana and has been never ending for Meghan. They both equal money for them. It must really kill kate that they were never obsessed with her the same way. Other then the wedding and when George was born, what memorable moments has kate had? Meghan made her relevant again. ma Middleton can run to the press all she wants, kate will never be a ‘phenomenon’ like Diana was and like Meghan is. Meghan in two years had already made the history books, and she will be known as a strong inspiring woman. Unfortunately for Kate dull, boring women don’t really make history ‘doing the school run’.

    • carmen says:

Charisma, genuine passion for their causes and work ethic are traits Meghan shares with the late Diana. Kate possesses none of these and has made no effort to improve and make a meaningful contribution. She can’t work at gaining charisma – you either have it or you don’t – but she can work harder and pull her weight.

  67. Carolind says:

OK about her weight. It could be that she is one of these people – and I was one when I was young – who just cannot eat if they are nervous/upset. If I had to go out for a meal or when I was on holiday or away on a course etc etc I just could not get food down. When I was not quite 20 my then boyfriend was being unkind and I was hardly eating because I couldn’t. It was the days before everyone had their own bathroom scales and I used to weigh myself at lunchtime wearing quite heavy knee high boots and a coat. I was nearly 20 and 5 feet 5 inches and I would weigh 7 stone 3lbs. It gradually went up but I was just under 8 stone for a few years. My periods never stopped. I read an old biography about Kate a month or so ago and it did say she could not eat if she got.upset. I am no great fan but if she does suffer like this it is horrible. I hated being so thin. It was never anorexia.

    • cath says:

So, are you saying she’s been upset since the engagement? That was the point where her weight declined sharply and other than pregnancy she’s maintained an extremely low weight since then. Prior to the engagement, she was lean but athetic v.s. “scary” skinny or frail. This could be yet another example ( Diana and Meghan are the most obvious others) of the negative effects of the royal family on people’s health and well being.

    • Suz says:

I was the same in my 20s. I had a horrible boyfriend in my early 20s, like text book emotionally abusive and I just wouldn’t eat because I felt so worthless. Happened some years later after another awful boyfriend cheated on me. I didn’t eat much all summer and I look back at photos from then and you can see too much of my rib cage.

    • Just a note: There is now an article out there today claiming William worried about how thin Kate is getting caused by all the stress over the Sussexes behavior.

  68. Well-Wisher says:

India was seen as the jewel of the crown. The British used so many things from it. Tea, yoga, office practices and precious stones.etc.

Where is the comparison with the duchess?
    She is the consolation prize.
The trolls wanted Prince Harry , good work ethic, founded Invictus Games etc. His CV is full. They want him without the wife. Now that he has shown that he has character by supporting and protecting his family. Even more so.

There is a vacuum and a need, since Carol and daughter has been .so kind with their access , it is fitting to reward them.
She has to be the new item and made to be a must-have.

Seriously, there is a item floating in the intraweb from 2015 where the poster is saying that they want Prince Harry to find someone like himself to settle down. The answer is prophetic- it included the fact the Carol and her daughter will make that person’s life a living hell and infered that Chelsey Davy avoided Kate for that reason. They included a description of the type of person who can persevere against their treachery.
The description fits- the Duchess of Sussex.

Omg that first photo after the article. The cameras love to capture Kate making awkward facial expressions. Someone in another article suggested she overdoes it to make sure she looks engaged with who she’s speaking with and ends up with photos like this.

  71. Mignionette says:

Here’s the thing I think Kate IS what the Monarchy want by proxy of the UK right wing govt and certain parts of the public.

The UK is currently a toxic mix of Brexit, islamophobia, anti-Semitism, broad brush racism tinged with xenophobia. It’s a very clever form of racism born of nativism for the sole purpose of alienating anyone who’s origins are not from the British Isles. The net effect being that only those who can trace their lineage get a voice. This very bold marketing of racism under the guise of ‘taking back control’ has effectively allowed for a right wing coup so much so, that the former leader of the House, Ken Clarke described the current Tory Govt as the most right wing Conservative Govt he’d ever seen. And this reality is something that I am facing as of late. The amount of times I’ve had to remind people that I’m British is just shocking (but I digress).

Kate currently fits the mould of ‘perfect Duchess and future Queen Consort’ because essentially she a blank canvas whom the people described above (the ‘natives’) can project themselves onto. She is white with a very middle middling English name (pun intended), a traditional semi-SAHM, has no opinions, her interests all line up with aristocratic country life and most importantly she has secured the line of succession with gorgeous blue eyed babes.

Meghan on the other hand is the dangerous interloper who according to Boris Johnson’s sister in her article for that most glorious of publications (not to be named), has ‘thickened the blood of the Royals with her rich and exotic DNA” (yes she really said that). This should give you an insight into the workings of the minds of the establishment and institutions of the UK, when the PMs sister who is public school educated and grew up with Norland nanny thinks in this way. Basically the UK is inherently and institutionally racist. So Meghan with her can do attitude, natural personality and enthusiasm never stood a chance. All the hard work in the world will not make up for the fact that Meghan is not ‘one of us’ according to the aristocracy.

Having grown up in the UK one thing that stands out is the notion of ‘knowing your place’ and waiting for those in power to ‘big you up’. You never ‘big yourself up’ it’s just not the done thing. And when it is done, it’s seen as gaudy and gauche and the sort of thing an American would do with all their lofty ideals of the ‘the American dream’ and ‘egalitarianism’. That is how the Aristocracy have stayed in power so long and that is why the UK is one of the last true classed based society with little social mobility at the upper echelons. Meghan and her brand of liberal politics at a time of Brexit was always going to be a disaster. Refusing to also play the game (aka kissing the ring of certain media moguls and other rainmakers’) further solidified her and Harry’s positions. That is what they were alluding to in refusing to play the game and they should be applauded for it. Playing the game for Meghan would have meant assuming some horrible outdated colonial trope of the ‘look at our black Princess’. I truly feel they had no choice but to leave, the other choice would have involved a complete stripping of identity which brings me back full circle to Kate patron saint of dress coats.

Maybe Meghan’s master plan was to make Kate work and this is how she went about it! Brilliant! 🤣
