Hayden Panettiere: The paparazzi and public destroy relationships!

I would probably take this message seriously from any other celebrity, barring the reality show ones, than Hayden Panettiere. She’s claiming that the paparazzi – and public – “destroy relationships”! This is from the girl who regularly called the paparazzi to ensure that she had plenty of coverage at the start of her career. She used to dine at paparazzi target restaurants like Koi and Mr. Chow all the time when she first started out. If she only blamed the paparazzi, I would say she’s right, but the public? It’s like she’s saying her fans are sucking the life out of her and I find that offensive. She wouldn’t be where she is if it wasn’t for the public watching her TV shows and sort-of paying attention to her shitty movie career.

Look at Jennifer Garner, who quietly deals with the hoards of paparazzi following her and her husband as they drop their three and a half year-old daughter off to school – every day. Garner has chosen to explain exactly what the paparazzi do and let their actions speak for themselves instead of outright condemning them. Garner said that the paparazzi are aggressive and taunt her daughter, and that it’s a “shame”. She didn’t claim they’re the devil or anything, but just recounted the lengths they go through to get a shot and try and evoke a reaction. Compare that to Hayden Panettiere saying that the paparazzi and public are to blame for destroying relationships:

Hayden Panettiere has blamed the paparazzi and the public for “destroying” her love life – insisting celebrity romances are ruined by media intrusion.

The Heroes actress quickly became a tabloid favorite after the TV show debuted in 2006 and her on-set love affair with co-star Milo Ventimiglia featured heavily in gossip columns.

However, the 19 year old – who split from Ventimiglia in February – is convinced Hollywood couples have it tough because fans’ interest in their love lives puts unprecedented pressure on a relationship.

She tells Britain’s Company magazine, “It’s very, very difficult and people have no idea what they do to peoples’ relationships. They destroy them. The paparazzi and the public. The public wants to read about your personal life, and the paparazzi give it to them by nosing into your personal life and saying things that are just not true and horrible.”

Panettiere insists the ever-present photographers also limit her freedom – because even the most menial of tasks become a chore.

She adds, “I used to walk my dogs in my pajamas. You know something’s not right when you’re lying in bed for 15 minutes in the morning going, ‘How do I get milk for cereal without having to leave my house?’ I would be so happy if I could walk down the street without someone coming out of the buses.”

I get that the paparazzi are a pain, but blame the paparazzi and the people who buy their pictures, not the public. Most members of the public, apart from the few of us who are celebrity-focused, don’t want to see you when you walk your dog and don’t give a shit about your relationships – especially some C-list TV actress like Hayden. It’s like Hayden links she’s above the unwashed masses because she’s a star and our interest in her is OMG ruining her life!

Hayden has an interview in the July issue of Details in which she drops the delicious tidbit that she only gave a group of fans a “a half-smile,” explaining “It’s a survival skill.” She also gave us more evidence that she considers herself above “the public” by explaining that “she started feeling different” from everyone else at a young age. “I always knew that I was. I never felt I missed out—in fact, it was like, ‘Oh, thank God I’m not that.'”

No, Hayden, you’re not like the rest of us. You’re a bitch, and you don’t appreciate the incredible opportunities that you’ve been given. You should thank the public, because when people lose interest in you, you’re over.

HATE Hayden. She does ANYTHING for publicity! She acts like she’s an A-list star, but she’s not! Also, she’s about 22 years old – I’m 24 and I still don’t really know anything about relationships to the extent an older, more experience person would. She needs to shuuuuut up. Also, CB – I love your Jennifer Garner example! So true.

I guess whinning gets you ratings.

  3. elisabetta says:

ugh hayden, wake up and look in the mirror. you knew you were different? why because you are 3 feet tall and look like a troll?

people only cared about you because you were totally in a pedophile relationship as a teenager with a much older man.

this chick is not beautiful. not even attractive. and her personality sucks. whatever shitty show she is on, i hope it gets cancelled and she never works again, then she will very quickly realize, nobody really gives a shit if you think you are ‘different’ and supposed to be a ‘star’.

  4. Ramona says:

When you choose a career in the entertainment business or a career that puts you in the public eye you willfully forfeit your privacy. Everybody in that business knows full well that goes along with being famous, so Hayden, stop being a whiny brat and deal with it. Nobody is going to sympathize with you because you are making millions of dollars for working so hard to be a celebrity. You need to take a lesson from the old Hollywood icons such as Lana Turner, Rita Hayworth and Joan Crawford who handled the ‘Rag Mags’, as they were called back then, and the photographers with ultimate style and grace!! So if you are going to blame anyone for the destruction of any relationships just look in the mirror!!

    Losing interest in Hayden in 3, 2, 1 ….

  6. Cinderella says:

A girl just can’t powder her nose with all them darn paps around.

Oh, and the fact that she was a temperamental child dating a temperamental adult had NOTHING to do with that split.

  7. Annie says:

Makes you kinda wish you could punt her over a field goal right?

  8. Nev says:

What ruined her relationship was she was to darn young-he was too damn old. What man wants to be considered a pedophile.
She needs to learn to take responsibility for her own mess.

  9. crash2GO2 says:

    Only if you let them.

  10. Jenna says:

No, no, no. I’m more than positive it is her mouth that ruins relationships. Err… maybe her words. Or maybe it’s because she thinks she is better than the person she is with. Just a guess.

  11. NJMDPS says:

This is the career she chose. She takes the perks. So she must also take the jerks. If not, go to Wal Mart and apply for a job.

  12. the original kate says:

i’m gonna remember that excuse the next time i need to break up with someone: “i can’t see you anymore. why? it’s not you, and it’s not me -it’s the public… again.”

  13. SolitaryAngel says:

This kid needs to get knocked down a few pegs just to show her what we “ordinary” people have to go through.

She should understand that there are those of us who look at HER and say, “Oh thank GOD I’m not that”.

Possessing a good character and treating others well will take you SO much farther than the road you’re on now, Hayden “Boy’s name” Panieirerytourqwe9.

  14. LuLu says:

Hayden if you want to be able to walk down the street without the paparazzi hounding you and want to stop the public inquiring about her personal life than find another line of work!!! This is all the baggage that comes with being a TV/movie actress. I bet there are a million other young blondes who would trade places with you in a minute and would learn to put up the paparazzi and the public!!

  15. Eileen Yover says:

This is a great race to watch: Katherine Heigl vs. Hayden Panettiere -who can sound like a bigger whiny ingrate!

  16. Jo 'Mama' Besser says:

I’m going with the Pantywaist on this one. I speak French, and I still can’t be bothered with the name.

As if it’s everyone else’s fault that her *ahem* ‘relationships’ don’t work. And by the way, what kind of insight could a teenager give me about mining the fields of love? Sure, I’m an adult, but I think that the insights of a child would clear things up for me. Then, she can do my taxes.

She’s a novice. I don’t know anyone who wants to hear about the world-weary protestations of a person no older than our running shoes. You want hassle? Oh, I can show you some Prime-Cut, Grown-Up Hassle. That’ll have you hiding at The Ivy.

Now, let’s all read from The Book of Common Prayer with Heidi and Hudgens.

  17. Mirdeb says:

Tick, tock on your 15 minutes Miss Hayden….

  18. assistantrachel says:

Don’t worry Hayden…I don’t give a flying rats ass about you…the sooner you fall off the face of the earth, the better.

  19. Green Is Good says:

Don’t you worry Hayden Pantytroll. When Heroes is canceled, you’ll never have to worry about those annoying Pappz bothering you again.

  20. Jazz says:

God I can’t stand this troll!

  21. Sheigh says:

Stars display and we have, that’s always the deal. If you are not o.k, come back to the anonymous crown Panytroll. It’s too hard for you, really, really hard, very good joke.
Stop bad acting and chachacha, without you “Walk on the fame” won’t lose his light. Don’t worry!
