Pres. Biden’s team: The Trump team left NO covid-vaccine distribution plan

President Joe Biden delivers remarks on his administration’s COVID-19 response, and signs executive orders and other presidential actions.

When the history of this political era is written, I genuinely believe that Donald Trump inciting a a white supremacist terrorist mob to murder his political enemies – including the Speaker of the House and the Vice President – will definitely be one of the biggest “headlines.” But alongside that, history will remember Trump’s absolutely criminal negligence during a raging pandemic. There are thousands of Americans dying every day and Trump ordered his people to NOT brief the incoming administration at all. Not only that, Trump completely abdicated responsibility for managing the catastrophe for months because he knew he would just dump it all on the Biden administration and walk away. So now the Biden team is getting a better look at the vaccine distribution plan and guess what? There’s no there there.

Newly sworn in President Joe Biden and his advisers are inheriting no coronavirus vaccine distribution plan to speak of from the Trump administration, sources tell CNN, posing a significant challenge for the new White House.

The Biden administration has promised to try to turn the Covid-19 pandemic around and drastically speed up the pace of vaccinating Americans against the virus. But in the immediate hours following Biden being sworn into office on Wednesday, sources with direct knowledge of the new administration’s Covid-related work told CNN one of the biggest shocks that the Biden team had to digest during the transition period was what they saw as a complete lack of a vaccine distribution strategy under former President Donald Trump, even weeks after multiple vaccines were approved for use in the United States.

“There is nothing for us to rework. We are going to have to build everything from scratch,” one source said. Another source described the moment that it became clear the Biden administration would have to essentially start from “square one” because there simply was no plan as: “Wow, just further affirmation of complete incompetence.”

[From CNN]

CNN confirms that Biden’s Covid-19 advisors were not getting any cooperation or information-sharing from the Trump administration during the transition. They were eager to see what Trump’s people had put in place, and it turns out… it’s nothing. Nothing was put in place. There’s zero structure, just lies, Diet Coke cans and cheeseburger wrappers.

So President Biden signed a huge stack of executive orders yesterday, all related to the pandemic and vaccine production and distribution. He also authorized Dr. Anthony Fauci to come out and speak at the White House podium and Dr. Fauci nerded out and was clearly feeling himself. It was glorious and scary. Fauci explained what the covid mutations mean for the spread of the virus and how the vaccines will still be enormously effective, just not *as* amazingly effective. The point is, people should still wear masks, social distance and pray to receive the vaccine in the next few months.

I was screaming at the TV when Trump was trying to take credit for future work the Biden team will do. He never cared about a distribution plan. They were all thieves trying to make a last buck before they all got kicked out.

    • Seraphina says:

YUP!!!!! They all lined their pockets and gave the American public the big ole fat finger. It is infuriating that he brought us to where we are and that the new team has to pickup the pieces. He should be held accountable for endangering our lives. And what I don’t quite comprehend, is was there NO ONE there to say something or call it out????? I mean, we were lied to and people have died and he is in Florida eating his McRib sandwiches and diet coke. It’s a slap in the face and a huge middle finger to us all and was deliberate. He and his family should be locked away.

  2. Mabs A'Mabbin says:

I could feel Fauci’s elation. He shined and reached out to me personally lmao.

    • Apple Tart says:

Me too I felt like he was an abused spouse that finally got that divorce decree signed. And can move on with his life with truth and science!

    • Seraphina says:

Fauci looks much more relaxed these days. As if dealing with a pandemic wasn’t enough, he had to worry about the tyrant as well.

    • Becks1 says:

He looks so much younger and more relaxed. What a difference to work for someone who cares about the science and is going to let the experts lead the way.

  3. fluffy_bunny says:

Is anyone surprised? I’m not. I heard on the news that Biden’s team is going for radical transparency in regards to the pandemic. And they’re using actual science to guide them.

  4. sa says:

I wish people would stop referring to Trump’s malfeasance as negligence. His administration’s failure to come up with any plans to help us during a pandemic, including having no vaccine distribution plan, was not negligent, it was intentional.

    • StartupSpouse says:

There is another term for it: pre-meditated murder.

      • Anna says:

This @StartupSpouse I am just praying that the “moderate” Democrats will finally stand up to the Republi-thugs and call all of this s*** for what it is and act accordingly on the legal front. There is so much prosecution due for how we have been treated and I’m feeling scared that we will never see justice of any kind because Dems refuse to stand up to it. Like being gaslit and abused all over again. :/

  5. escondista says:

their plan was “let someone else figure it out” – and right now it is states and counties. So there are a million hard-to-find, different websites with no accessibility which leads to inequitable distribution and sign-ups favor computer-literate individuals instead of our elderly and disabled.

    • MaryContrary says:

My 81 year old mom could not figure out the online platform to sign up. Luckily she reached someone by phone who stayed on with her for 50 minutes to walk her through the entire process. Thanks to this kindness, she and my 87 year old dad received their first dose yesterday morning. It makes me so angry that Trump and Jared f-ed this all up so badly, and we’re now going to be so behind in distribution.

      • shanaynay says:

I’m glad your parent’s were able to receive their doses.

DT and Jared intentionally f-ed this up! Always remember that!

      • schmootc says:

50 minutes? That seems like a long time! It should be way easier than that. I’m glad she found someone to help at least.

      • MaryContrary says:

@schmootc-yep, it was super confusing. My brother lives nearby them, and he had looked at it and couldn’t figure it out either. I guess you had to upload your insurance cards? But it wasn’t clear if it was your regular Medicare card or the supplemental. Plus, she got through the whole thing-and then it crashed. Thank goodness for the patience of the healthcare worker!

  6. Coco says:

Jared the Real Boy helped craft the plan of “F*** You, I Got Mine.”

I feel like it was not covered enough – or rather buried by additional horrors – that Trump’s Administration not only did not provide essential medical equipment when it was desperately needed, they were actively seizing shipments of orders that state governments had made.

    • grabbyhands says:

      Same!

The cavalier attitude would have been bad enough, but they actively prevented people from receiving critical care/equipment. That it was for grift was offensive alone, but more often than not it was either to pretend that it wasn’t really needed or worse, it was being withheld from states that he didn’t think were loyal enough to him. That all needs to be shouted from the rooftops for generations to come.

    • Digital Unicorn says:

They were also actively seizing PPE orders from other countries, esp orders made to 3M – an American company. Pissed off half of Europe.

  7. grabbyhands says:

    I am zero percent shocked.

But all things considered, maybe it is for the best since any kind of “plan” under the previous administration probably wouldn’t have been worth much.

  8. BeanieBean says:

    Wow, that Time cover. Savage!

    • Golly Gee says:

I was thinking the same thing. It encapsulates the Trump administration and what has been inherited by the Biden administration in one stark image. And because most of them are corrupt opportunists, come election time, Republicans will blame the Democrats for any mess still left over by Trump that they haven’t been able to finish cleaning up.

  9. Amy Too says:

Didnt we hear something about how the Trump administration was going to release all the vaccines they were holding back for second doses right away so that as many people as possible could get the first dose. Then, it turned out, there were no extra vaccines being held back for second doses. States were so excited about this big new distribution of vaccines and had started to ramp up their plans for distributing them and placed large orders for some of the stockpile, and then…. nothing. I think that was a pretty big hint that there was really no vaccine distribution plan ever.

    • windyriver says:

In anticipation of this, states also changed their guidelines for who can get the vaccine now. NJ dropped the age from 75 to 65, and included smokers. Since they aren’t asking for any documentation (how would you prove you’re a smoker anyway?), this essentially means anyone over age 16 can get an appointment, when they haven’t even finished vaccinating teachers, etc.

Latest is, many existing appointments have had to be cancelled because of unanticipated vaccine shortages.

  10. shanaynay says:

I’m completely shocked by this. NOT!!!

Seems like DT wanted to kill as many people as he could on his way out. It’s a horrible thing to say, I know, but it seems as if it’s true.

He’s gonna rot in He_ _ for this!

  11. Emily says:

It was clear from the beginning that draining the swamp meant purging anyone with experience or a desire to do anything more than grift.

  12. Lizzie says:

I live in a red state, Missouri population just over 6 million. Republican gov announced 9 mass vaccination sites. Zero vaccination sites in St Louis Metro (city and county) population over 2 million. I sincerely hope Biden administration can address this literal partisan attack on poor and older people who will not have access to a vaccination site.

    • schmootc says:

Huh? Leaving out a huge metro area like that seems super stupid. I’m in PDX and they just announced the Oregon Convention Center as a mass vaccination site within the last week or so. They don’t have enough doses right now of course, but it’s right across the river from me, centrally located, etc. So it will be quick to get there when they do have doses.

  13. K says:

Did anybody look underneath the ketchup stained McDonald’s wrappers and Mar a Lago brochures? It’s probably on a used napkin.

  14. emu says:

SO glad that this incompetent fool is gone. Can’t believe anyone thought he or his cronies were fit to run anything. Can’t run the government like a slumlord mobster.

  15. OriginalLala says:

Trump and his band of gleeful feces should be held criminally responsible for the insane death toll due to COVID in the US

  16. Nic919 says:

There will eventually need to be a commission on how criminally negligent this pandemic was handled. More people die daily because of covid in the US than 9/11 which has always been preventable.

The multiple Benghazi hearings were for a one day incident. This was a systemic failure that should hold Jared and dump criminally responsible. I know that won’t happen, but at the very least Jared needs to be dragged in to answer for his crimes.

  17. Meg says:

The abuse tactics here from Trump remind me of how the press and royal family treated meghan markle.
‘youre nothing without me/us, anything good from you will actually be because of me’

It’s amazing how abusive toxic people seem to have all read the same manual on how to act

  18. Alarmjaguar says:

This is both truly staggering and not at all surprising. I mean the incompetence! How did 72 million people vote for him? What a farce. What a tragedy for our country.

  19. Annoyed says:

Did you see that some people are now bitching that Biden’s goal of 100 million shots per day isn’t ambitious enough? There is literally not enough vaccine to do more right now, and the Defense Production Act only covers supplies like syringes and vials–the pharma companies are the only ones who can make the actual vaccine and they’re going all out right now. And let’s not forget the orange turd turned out the extra 20 million doses Pfizer offered. Cut the new admin some slack!

  20. Liz version 700 says:

Faucet look 10 years younger and like he lost “239” pounds of oppression. As for the non plan… they really wanted to kill us. Just terrifying.

  21. EllenOlenska says:

Fox News is saying that because Dr fauci said some vaccine distribution had begun it debunks the Biden claim that they are starting from scratch but basically involves a lot of wordsmith games and basically trying to say CNN is pushing a debunked story that was debunked by Fauci and that they have repeated this “ false “ story 47 times…

I’m sure they’re still clinging to Faucis initial mask quote ( considering everyone was supposed to be quarantining at home when he said it! ) during the mask shortage in Marc/ April as well as why everything went wrong,..

  22. Bess says:

Imagine what would be going on if Trump won again.

  23. jferber says:

Coco, And the states had already PAID for these shipments and the federal government stole them en route. What the FUCK?

  24. Lauren says:

Let’s be honest the only plan was to make sure that trump administration and their cronies got the vaccine before anyone else. Remember when Jared said that the PPE stockpile was “ours” whoever “ours” was also received the vaccine when it wasn’t readily available to people.

  25. Amando says:

I hope he gets convicted and can never hold office again. He is a disgusting human being. Couldn’t care less about anyone but himself. I thought Bush would always be the worst pres. from my lifetime, but nope, Trump takes the crown!
