Vince Vaughn: I’m finally ready to be a dad

fp_3449469_vaughn_vince_mia
Vince Vaughn and Kyla Weber have been engaged since March, and ever since their announcement, it seems like Vince has been trying to sabotage their relationship. Vince likes to have his cake and eat it too – and the man loves his cake, judging from his bloated figure. He wants to only hang out with his guy friends, tour every bar in America (and then some), flirt with the chicas, and come home to his doting mother, all while maintaining his “relationship” with Kyla. But Vince wants us to know – in time for his new film Couples Retreat – that he’s finally ready, at the age of 39, to settle down. Yes, it seems Vince is experiencing “the first time” he ever felt like being a dad. But is he ready to actually settle down with one woman, and not the neverending stream of bar-girls and college students?

Vince Vaughn swings no more.

Now engaged to Canadian real estate agent Kyla Weber, Vaughn, 39, says he wants to start a family and settle down.

The funny guy even says he’s ready for diaper duty. “It’s the first time that I really want to have kids,” he told PEOPLE while promoting his new comedy Couples Retreat.

“I’ve been very fortunate in my career, and my life has been about that for so long that you get bored of it. You’re ready for your life to be about other people and other things,” Vaughn said.

While filming the movie – costarring his longtime pal Jon Favreau and directed by another friend, Peter Billingsley – Vaughn spent time in exotic Bora Bora with his soon-to-be wife and members of his family. “We had a lot of fun, which was good, and my sister was there and my nephew was there,” he says.

And his buddies have given their approval.

“I’m very happy for Vince. He’s marrying an amazing girl,” says Billingsley, the former child star of A Christmas Story. “It’s a natural cycle of life that we all go in.”

But Billingsley admits one thing is dramatically different from the days when Vaughn and Favreau – who starred in the 1996 Swingers – were making the Hollywood scene.

“The parties are a lot different than they used to be – that’s for sure!” Billingsley says. “I still come with the point of view to have a great time, but it’s kids and strollers and babies and clowns.”

Maybe he has changed and I’m just giving the guy a hard time. Could be. It’s just that Vince incites a bit of rage in me. I used to love the big lug, many, many years ago. But now I look at him and I just think he’s pissed away his talent and he’s pissed away his good looks. Maybe he’s happy doing comedies – obviously, there’s a lot of money there. But he was once a really good actor, and now it feels like he only gets the “buffoon” roles. As for his personal life, I think Vince, much like George Clooney, has started looking around the room at his friends, and he’s just realized he’s the last unmarried guy, the only guy without kids. My guess is that he wants to get married and be a dad because he thinks he’s at that age, but really he still wants to hang out in bars and be skeevy.

The other night, Vince appeared on Jay Leno’s show for a short interview to promote Couples Retreat. Jay made him do the segment “Earn Your Plug”. Jay made Vince workout with 95-year-old Jack LaLanne. LaLanne made Vince do dips in a chair, which Vince did with little effort and good humor. After Vince finished, he gave LaLanne a big kiss, which was really sweet.

    ACCCCK!
Y’just KNOW when a guy says this he’s gonna bail on the kids in the future. He’s such a horrible, useless lump like Jon Gosselin. How do you become “finally ready”? Parenthood isn’t like a bad haircut or a piercing you can change if you regret it.
This guy has always been such a talentless ‘tard.

Vince thinks he is ready to have kids and I’m sure is true. I don’t know if the kids are ready to have Vince for a daddy, tough.

  3. Firestarter says:

Eh, I don’t mind Vince. He is kind of funny in some movies.

ugh. I know a couple of guys like that..that is, they decided to marry the girl they were dating because they realized that all of their friends were married, and some with kids. in essence, it was what they were “supposed” to do at that time in their lives.

    both are now divorced.

  5. Aleksa says:

Ooooh, I DO hope the children look like their mum!!

  6. Mari says:

Most men hate to admit it, but just like women they too have a “biological clock”. Some try to sperminate everything in their path, while others go against the grain and settle with one woman. Who knows which one Vince will be. Only time will tell.

  7. Catherine says:

He comes across as slimy to me. Not a fan at all.

  8. Jeri says:

I think he’s sincere, he didn’t cave in to J Anniston when he wasn’t ready to settle down yet. His financee probably fits in well with his family & friends and he wants to keep her & create a family together.

Not that he gives 2 cents what we think.

  9. What evs says:

I wish he’d be more ready to lose some weight and lay off the booze.. He’s so bloated. But, he’s seems cool otherwise.

  10. Dianne says:

    I think he’s ICKY!

  11. Maritza says:

He’s mother must be bugging him to give her grandchildren

  12. Sigh. says:

He always looks like he’s 2 seconds from either belching or vomiting (sp?)…really gassy-looking.

He sounds more like he can’t handle the new breed of barflies (I’m looking at you, Jude Law), so he’s ready for a “nice, understanding girl”…then 2.7 kids from now, he’ll hit the midlife and implode.

You can’t tell, but I really do hope otherwise. Enough future attention-starved HW kids, already!

He’s a “DUD” and is finally ready to buy a vowel, LOL!!!

I think the comments here are really mean-spirited, Kaiser. And, too bad you don’t have the guts to let my comments stand, either. Sorry, I don’t plan on coming here anymore. You won’t be receiving any more “hits” from me.

I don’t see what is wrong with what he is saying ? Isn’t that the journey of most of us, men included ? At some point, most people when they feel their mortality, or getting old wants to start a family, isn’t it ?

What is wrong with that ? Plus just because some people divorce afterwards doesn’t make them regret having children in the process ! That’s a very mean thing to imply. MANY divorcees even say that the best thing they keep from their deceased marriage is the child/ren who were conceived.

People act like having children is not a blessing, like people who are divorcing regret having children when most of the time it is for them the only thing positive in the mess they are living in.

Wanting children is a natural desire that has nothing to do with marriage and its potential subsequent divorce.

None of us would be there if we weren’t conceived in the first place wether it was within the marriage vows or not. It’s probably the most legitimate, intimate and natural desire one can have whatever his/her condition, status, ect.

The big fatty looks like the Bug in Men In Black! What a scary Baby-Daddy! 🙂

  18. 4Real says:

Okay but is he still getting laid?

  19. crash2GO2 says:

I agree with the sentiment that he’s p*ssed away his opportunities. I think he is/was an incredibly talented actor who likes to drink waaaay to much beer. He was absolutely chilling and supurb in Clay Pigeons.

  20. Jag says:

He’s 39? I would’ve sworn he was pushing 50. As for his being a father, only time will tell. I don’t like him and don’t watch his stuff – to the extreme of when I flipped over to watch Jay and saw that Vaughn was going to be on, I found something else to watch.

  21. Under Revas says:

Uggh, he used to be sooo handsome. Well, if he and the wife are happy then I’m happy for them.

  22. fizXgirl314 says:

gawd, what is he like a 100? and now he’s finally ready? men have it so easy in this world :/

  23. Ally says:

Wow, in those photos he looks like Vincent D’Onofrio in Men in Black (after the alien possession, that is).
