Kate Hudson is hated by Yankees’ WAGs & beloved by fans

Kate Hudson watches the New York Yankees play the Minnesota Twins in game 2 of the ALDS at Yankee Stadium in New York City
As many of you know, I am not in my element when I talk about sports. I could care less about nearly anything involving “balls” (except for, you know, actual balls). I only follow tennis and soccer because I think some of the guys are hot. But if anyone starts talking to me about baseball (or football… or basketball…) my eyes glaze over and I start imagining Clive Owen (and his balls). So it with great trepidation that I cut-and-past this line from the NYDN in the hopes that it makes sense: “[After last night’s game], the Yankees now move on to the ALCS for the first time since 2004, when they were last seen blowing a 3-0 lead to the Red Sox.” So… the Yankees are doing well, yes?

The only reason I know anything about the Yankees and how they’re doing this season (baseball has “seasons” right?) is because Alex Rodriguez is dating Kate Hudson, and this has lead to many gossip stories with a sports edge. There’s been a slew of Kate/A-Rod/Yankees stories lately, and some of them are really juicy. It just goes along with my theory that men gossip about sports like women gossip about celebrities. And when the two meet, it can get really bitchy up in this joint. Take this story from Page Six about how the other Yankees wives-and-girlfriends (WAGs) were told to shut the hell up about Kate because it could affect the Yankees’ game:

The Yankees’ wives and girlfriends have been banned from trashing Kate Hudson after Page Six revealed there was coldness between her and Derek Jeter’s squeeze, Minka Kelly. We told how low-key Kelly disapproved of Hudson’s antics including cheering wildly from the front row and smooching A-Rod all over town. A source said, “The Yankees told the girls to be careful who they spoke to about Kate. They are concerned about the ramifications for the players.”

[From Page Six]

So, the Yankees’ WAGs don’t care for Kate. Seriously? Does everyone have to revert back to high school on this one? Can’t Kate get some love from the WAGs? Why all the drama? In any case, Yankees fans seem to like Kate and her positive influence on A-Rod’s game. The NYDN ran a piece that was just fans praising Hudson, with quotes like “A-Rod’s got his groove on….I’ll give Kate Hudson the credit for this” and “A beautiful lady like that? Of course having her is an incentive.” Who knew? Kate Hudson, fan favorite. Now if she could only translate Yankees’ fan-love into box office.

People don’t have to warm to Kate if they don’t want to. Simple as that.

  2. Popcorny says:

As a die-hard Red Sox fan I’m going to resist the urge to say …

    “YANKEES SUCK”

    OOPS … I failed again.

  3. random says:

I’m a Twins fan, so vomit to “A-Rod” and anything associated with him. I have a new found disrespect for Kate Hudson because of that.

  4. Iggles says:

    The Boston Red Sox suck!!!

They were whining about some curse causing them to play crappy all throughout the 20th century 😀

Well, it’s true that they should not have traded Babe, but that besides the point..

    GO YANKEES!!!!

  5. Madchen says:

Not a big Kate fan, but you’re right, Kaiser — they should all get out of the eighth grade! If they want to |bitch, they can come to this site and |bitch away. That’s what it’s here for. (But they should give us some srsly good stuff, anonymously of course!)

You’ll like this: the big celeb DJ in Philadelphia is Pierre Robert and he often talks about “our boys in blue.” When I moved here I just didn’t get it; the context was all wrong. “Our boys in blue did really well last night.” “Congrats to our boys in blue for pulling that one off yesterday.” WTF?! The cops did well? Firefighters?

Pierre refers to the Eagles, Phillies, Flyers, 76ers and all other sports teams collectively as “our boys in blue.” *grin* One glance at the sports page and he’s completely up to date — without having to learn all the pesky details! Love it.

the only thing that bugs me about her being in the stands is that every time A-Rod does ANYTHING, they cut to show her reaction.

newsflash to tbs/tnt, I DON’T CARE ABOUT KATE HUDSON OR HER REACTIONS. I’M WATCHING THE BASEBALL GAME. IF I WANT TO SEE CELEBS, I WILL WATCH ET OR SOME CRAP LIKE THAT.

  7. Nebraska says:

If A Rod played Hockey I would totally watch it! He could take those damn Canuckleheads to a Stanley Cup!

  8. Oi says:

Go Angels! i hope they kick the Yanks to the curb in the ALCS like they did the Sox in the DLS. I want to see LAD play LAA for the series!

  9. Annie says:

I myself, am not a Yankees fan, but, sorry Red Sox fans, your team was sucking it up in the alds series. Angels whooped em and whooped em good due to a LOT of big mistakes on their part. And that’s why the Angels are going up against the Yankees (And they’ll win!!)

Although in my house? We bleed Dodger blue.

And anyway, no matter the age, girls will be catty little girls.

does kate still make movies? i can’t remember the last time i saw her in anything.

  11. alexa says:

I don’t get it. The original New York Post article a couple months ago was all about how the WAGs loved Kate and didn’t like Minka Kelly (Jeter’s GF). I think the Post is full of crap and is just trying to sell newspapers with stories about girl fights.

Kate and Minka were actually sitting together at last night’s game, along with the other Yankee significant others!

  12. Hieronyus Grex says:

Another one on the ‘Why are you famous anymore ?’ list. Aside from being a descendant from that withered old skeleton Goldie Hawn and a few bad movies- who really cares ?

  13. Juice In LA says:

It has to be said: Kate Hudson is a irrelevant talentless child of an actress who has great taste in men -if she is just sleeping around- or questionable taste (at best) if she’s really trying to have relationships with these guys.

I feel better already. and I can’t stand her.

  14. Kevin says:

Kate, I watched her in Bride Wars, to see Anne Hathaway. It was a waste of my money and time though.

  15. pickelhaube says:

Baseball is so boring, I give Kate credit for actually being able to stay awake through it. However, that’s about the nicest thing I have to say about her.

Oh, and to answer the question “Why all the drama”? Because women are horrendous, catty, hateful, backstabbing monsters that will not hesitate to destroy you if you are perceived to have something that they do not. It’s why I haven’t had a female friend since high school, and never will. Kate is better off just ignoring them and living her own life. Soon enough she won’t even notice the haters, which is even more fun because it just makes them madder, so you still win! And believe me, NOTHING is missing from my life now that I don’t deal with other females on a friendship level. In fact, I have more confidence, am more secure, and am definitely happier since I live to make myself happy and don’t worry about what other women are saying or thinking. Maybe Kate is doing the same, and if so, good for her!

  16. TwinkleToes says:

Kate should be, in reality, a cashier at T.J. Maxx.

I agree with Pickel above. I’ve learned a little too late that women make bad friends who will freak out the moment they notice you have something they don’t. Some are just too pretty to have girlfriends. My only female friend is old enough to be my mother so I don’t have to worry about the constant competition most females engage in…and it is ugly when they lose.

  17. BW says:

Dear pickelhaube: Not that I think you should change if it’s working for you, but there are a FEW of us women out here where it would never cross our minds to be “horrendous, catty, hateful, . . “. I’ve had some life-long decent female friends and women bosses too. I hear ya though, cuz of the “female friends” my daughter has been experiencing lately. Two of them have turned on her for insignificant reasons and one tore her apartment apart, and my daughter is appalled. I guess I didn’t raise her to beware, cuz I wasn’t! Kinda sad. And I don’t want her to turn into that, just to survive, which she hasn’t.

  18. TwinkleToes says:

BW, attractive women from wealthy families, unfortunately, know this. Or just attractive women, period.
