There are many, many reports swirling around Penelope Cruz lately, and most of them involve her hot Spanish boyfriend/lover/maybe-fiancée Javier Bardem. Javier has maybe proposed to Penelope, or possibly gotten her pregnant, or perhaps they’re just still having hot Spanish sex whenever they can and Javier can’t be bothered to put on a ring on it or knock her up. Thus far, Penelope has denied the pregnancy rumors in a sort-of random, cryptic way, but she hasn’t really confirmed or denied the engagement rumors. She showed up at a Sunday screening of Broken Embraces wearing a rather large, beautiful sapphire ring on her left ring finger, and people are now considering it an engagement ring. Oh, and they’re also wondering about Penelope’s weird outfit - as in, is she concealing a bump?
I actually pretty tired of Penelope bump-watch. I was interested in it a few months ago, when she really looked pregnant, but now I just want the press to leave the poor girl alone. Beyond that, I honestly didn’t figure Penelope for a conventional “get married then have babies” approach - in a July interview she even said: “I want to have babies one day but not right now… I don’t know if I believe in marriage.”
Penelope latest act is just as much of a head-scratcher. It looks like Penelope and Madonna may be friends…? Friendly enough to have dinner together, with their respective hottie boyfriends (except Javier is totally a million times hotter than Jesus Luz) at Mr. Chow in New York (photo evidence here). Radar is reporting that what appears to be a double date might not have been - I’m thinking Madge and baby Jesus gatecrashed Penelope’s nice family dinner:
Who knew that Madonna and Penelope Cruz were such close pals? Madge and boyfriend Jesus Luz were spotted having dinner with Cruz and her rumored fiancé Javier Bardem on Friday at Mr. Chow in New York.
“Penelope was with Javier and her family sharing chicken satay and beijing duck,” a source tells RadarOnline. “Madonna and Jesus arrived about 30 minutes into the meal and sat with the group for nearly two hours.”
According to the source, “The group was loud, laughing and seemed overall in great spirits.”
During the dinner, the Material Girl sipped martinis, but “Penelope didn’t drink” says the source – fueling the rumors that Cruz is pregnant with Bardem’s baby.
Cruz and Madonna kept the love fest going the next night at a dinner honoring director Pedro Almodovar.

This is one of the worst things about Madonna - she always latches on to whatever or whoever is really hot and tries to get extra cool points by hanging out with them. Some of her new associates become genuine friends (Gwyneth Paltrow, Stella McCartney) while others are just discarded once the Madge Vadge has gotten the publicity she so desperately needed. Ten bucks says that Madge’s painful cheekbones tried to flirt with Javier during dinner. My guess is that Javier was unimpressed.

Don’t feel too sorry for Ms. Cruz, her name & Pedro Almodovar’s were on the “Free Roman Polanski” petition. No one seemed to read the entire list, which just because I wanted to know who was two-faced about it, did all 150 names. and her name is never mentioned, but Tilda Swinton’s is frequently, not that that bothers me.

I don’t really care for Penelope but I never saw her name on that petition and I read the entire list. Here is the link. Pedro’s is on there but Penelope’s is not. So is Portman’s…ugh she is so annoying.

I stand corrected “e”, excellent link. I read the original one on a French website before it was alphabetized, so tedious, & when the list first came out. Apology to Ms. Cruz. The latest list according to your link has added new ones no less shocking i.e. Harrison Ford (WTF)?? I also read the criminal transcript on “Smoking Gun” & if anyone had any doubts as to his guilt, her testimony is stomach churning to say the least. Thanks again for the terrific link. Realize the rest of this should have been on another section.

..forget about the Polanski list! Doesn’t Pene deserve a gigunda ring? I could buy that one for MYSELF! She’s worth more than that, and in the jewelry biz, we tell guys who have some dough that they should spend on a ring what they would spend on a fancy new truck. That, my friends, looks like QVC.

I don’t think there is proof she gatecrashed… most other sites have called it a double date. Madonna was at the premiere, the were hugging on the red carpet, they stayed for two hours, and sounded like they were enjoying themselves. The only thing I can think of that would point to “gate crashing” is the lateness, but Madonna probably wouldn’t care about keeping others waiting and their seemingly sudden friendship. Maybe they have seen each other a different events and are sort of friends, maybe they hit it off at the premiere, maybe Penelope is a fan and wanted to have dinner with her, maybe Madonna asked her for publicity or because she liked the movie and wanted to celebrate with her. Who knows? It’s not like you have to be really close to someone to invite them to have dinner with you at a restaurant after an event you both were attending.
I don’t doubt that Madonna wants to be photographed with a young Hollywood star with two movies coming out, especially with Nine getting so much press. They probably won’t be seen together again often. They seem really different from one another.
I bet it is just a sort of pretty, simple ring she wore to accessorize her strange outfit. It doesn’t seem like the best piece for the dress but the whole look is odd. I would like to see the top of the dress. There are better ways to hide a bump than a jacket over a floor length gown.
Maybe she wore this ensemble and ring to bring attention to her movie. Maybe that is the reason they had dinner, it is mutually beneficial. This hasn’t been a heavily marketed movie. I bet her real ring will be gorgeous.
On another note can you please stop calling her Madge Vadge - its crass, not a funny or widely used nick name, and brings up a bad mental image? Even just Vadge is somehow better.

I doubt your plea will have much effect for the Madge Vadge nick users just because you’re offended by the mental image. I happen to find Madge Vadge one of the less offensive things you can call Madonna. I mean Madge Vadge.
As for the “real” ring looking better? Didn’t Di have a sapphire with diamonds around it? My wedding set has sapphires in it - sapphires are hardly cheap.

That outfit is not very attractive on Penelope.
That said, why is it when women don’t drink at a dinner or event the pregnancy rumors swirl? Could it be possible that she maybe didn’t want to drink? There are a few in this world who prefer not to drink with dinner or at all.
