And they’re out. After weeks off-air and in limbo, Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes are officially leaving GMA3. After their affair was revealed, there was an internal investigation and their status as anchors was under review. Instead of laying low while their jobs hung in the balance, Amy and T.J. leaned into their relationship out in the open, seemingly relieved they didn’t have to hide anymore. There were rumblings early on that T.J. was not a one affair man and that he had a lot going on over at GMA. That was just doubly confirmed and ABC has acted pretty quickly since.

The couple, who made headlines when their workplace romance was revealed late last year, while they were both married to other people, have officially departed the popular daytime program GMA3: What You Need to Know and ABC News. The network announced the news Friday evening, more than a month after the co-anchors were taken off the air amid an internal investigation into their relationship.
“After several productive conversations with Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes about different options, we all agreed it’s best for everyone that they move on from ABC News,” a company spokesperson said in a statement provided to EW. “We recognize their talent and commitment over the years and are thankful for their contributions.”
EW has reached out to a representative for Robach and Holmes for comment.
Despite the potential ratings from people tuning in to see the drama, I guess ABC decided these two were too much of a liability after the news of T.J.’s other affairs leaked. And I use the term affairs loosely because there was a definite power imbalance involved with th24-year-old script coordinator and yet another script coordinator more than a decade his junior. Apparently everyone knew about the third woman. Does that include Amy? So far it seems like Amy is the only one that’s his peer and T.J. usually goes for subordinates. Gross. And while Amy’s behavior wasn’t good, she definitely was not on T.J.’s level of bad. But she got sacrificed along with him, probably to avoid any future allegations of discrimination. Maybe they can find a new show to host together. As for how the ouster and the affair revelations have affected T.J. and Amy’s relationship? It seems like they haven’t and the pair is going strong. They were spotted in LA doing just as much PDA as ever.

It only did she choose T.J. over Andrew she choose T.J. over her career. If she had cut it off I’m sure she could have salvaged some of her relationship with ABC.
When I was reading about his baggage, I thought she’s going to regret this choice. He’s shown who he is.

Someone on tiktok said that when it comes to affairs, the f-ing you get is not worth the f-ing you get. I agree a million percent, because this is not simply a job, this is a career!
I love that saying! He won’t stick around. He clearly gets off on sneaking around and screwing women in his office. Now that this is out in the open, he’ll get bored quickly. They’ll probably get jobs that separate them too and he’ll be back in business in a new office with fresh tail to chase.

I know but didn’t follow their news since it came out, and was under the impression that they might come out of it with, like a new show somewhere else with both of them on it? They’re is no value to them separated? They’ll have to bank on their relationship to win this short term? Are they despised or are people generally ok with them?

It’s the fact they were threatening to sue for me and bringing race into it. The pap shot after they were exposed was in bad taste but they still had sympathy now with TJ behavior the sympathy is gone.
I guess I missed something earlier & this won’t be well-received by most readers here. I don’t understand why an affair between adult co-workers of equal rank warrants dismissal.
This happens frequently in many workplaces. Not saying infidelity is admirable, but hospitals, airlines, police departments, and large corporations don’t fire people for having affairs even when the participants are married to or separated from spouses.
I’d rather fire people who are consistently rude & nasty to those co-workers who were lower in job status, as a few popular network anchors were well-known for.
I don’t really have an opinion either way, but I thought I had read on one thread here that it has to do with them being more like a brand since they’re kind of the face of the company, rather than just a regular employee? And also that it had smthg to do with Disney, a “family”
Company owning or being associated with ABC? That’s just what I remember reading here, which kind of made sense, I guess?
I think it’s because of the threats of lawsuits. And TJ past behaviors, they knew about previous affairs and didn’t do anything, now this one go public and they don’t lay low they capitalize on it.
I think it’s also that they became the story and embarrassed the network. They are bad for the brand. Those morning shows live and die on a razor thin ratings margin. After the people (like me) that come for the drama of it all leave, their ratings will tank. Regular morning viewers tend to be older, more conservative. They won’t start their day with adulterers.
It’s because these two are celebrities and their show’s success is completely dependent on the viewers liking them.
I wonder about Amy. she’s a breast cancer survivor, twice divorced, stepmother, and in her late 40s. And aware of one of his previous discretions at least. Like, I get it, we all make mistakes, but usually age and experience (and the libido lowering effects of peri and menopause, I speak from experience LOL!)…I guess her behavior surprises me. I’m her age and in similar life circumstances (except the financial and fame part!) and, no matter how cute and charming he is, I’d know this wasn’t meant for the long term. And hey, that’s fine, short term things are great, but when they destroy your career? Oof. They weren’t even particularly secretive about it and it just….shocks me. Maybe the cancer experience gave her a “f it, we don’t have much time” kind of energy.
100% agree, you put it so well. Maybe this is her mid-life crisis although it seems most women her age (I can say that because I am her age) realize that blowing up your life and your career for a dude is a no-go no matter how cute and charming he is, like you said.
Amy is so ambitious. I can’t believe she would endanger her career for some d. That said, I hope is the real deal and that it lasts.
Maybe he is just a rebound for her. Hopefully. She was divorced before. This isn’t her first rodeo.
Long time hospital experienced observer here; when work place flirtatations, affairs, romances break up, it’s almost always the woman that suffers personally and professionally. The male continues on with his life with never a regret or any fall out. Just swept under the rug for him, not her.

How to publicly fumble a bag 101! This was inevitable. Rule #1 in journalism is you can never be bigger than the story and their messy relationship overshadowed everything and turned many of their viewers off. Them doubling down and flaunting their relationship even more made things worse. They both likely got a “go the hell away”, I mean generous severance package with a nice NDA. Doubt it will last as it rarely does with community peen but who knows?
TJ is disgusting and disappointing. His rise in journalism from BET to CNN to ABC was impressive. His office sex behavior isn’t. I think more women will probably come forward.
blue, totally agree with what you’re saying, but that’s before it turns out he had an affair/affairs with much younger people on the show. If it were JUST the affair between 2 equal colleagues, I’d lean totally into, why not just keep them both? It happens.

I’ve seen it IRL, co-workers and any new employers are going to be stand-offish, too much drama and distraction at work.
In 5 years, it will hit home to her. She blew up her career and marriage, 5 years older as a female anchor will change the landscape of jobs for her. Always younger anchor people willing to take your place, it’s show business after all.
His career will be less damaged, IMO. He seems to be very much a cheater, he will move on and on.
They’ve made their choices, their personal lives are now more famous vs. the news they anchor.
