Princess Eugenie welcomed her second child, son Ernest George Ronnie

Days ago, some of the royal reporters repeated some “gossip” they heard about Princess Eugenie checking into the hospital and how she was in labor. That was June 2 or 3. Well, looks like they were wrong, or rather, days late. Princess Eugenie gave birth to her second child, another boy, on May 30th. Eugenie and Jack have named their second son Ernest George Ronnie Brooksbank. He is apparently named “after his great great great Grandfather George, his Grandpa George and my Grandpa Ronald.” Ernest joins big brother August Philip Hawke Brooksbank.

Buckingham Palace does all of the official announcements for the York princesses these days, so the palace sat on the news for several days. I mean, I would like to believe that everyone simply respected a mother’s privacy and wanted to give Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank a few days home with the baby before anything was announced. But I suspect this news was held specifically to coincide with Prince Harry’s first day in court, only Harry skipped the first day. So the palace just released the news anyway. Speaking of, there’s a rumor going around that Harry might be staying with Eugenie and Jack at Ivy Cottage, on the Kensington Palace complex? I doubt it.

Anyway, congrats to Eugenie, Jack, big brother August and baby Ernest!

Some people seemed so delighted that the baby was gonna share the same bday with lili as if that would be bad.
Also saw someone commenting on a different post that they shared the same birthday without verification.

Some people really do believe everything they see on Twitter which is really sad.

Anyhoo congrats to her family. Glad they got a week of peace and once again the royal reporter is exposed for knowing nothing.

aww congrats to them. another beautiful baby for them! I know harry and eugenie are close but doubt he’s staying with them with a very brand new newborn.

I don’t know why but i was convinced she was going to have a girl this time around lol. Anyway, Congratulations to Eugenie and Jack and big brother August!

    uh, “Ronnie” 😬😬😬

The focus should probably be on the Georges. It is funny that so many of the royal children were named with some kind of wink to Queen Elizabeth. Now with a new clown era, I’m not sure anyone is going to name them after the “great” King Charles 3. They’re all gonna go with George and philip lol. it’s going to be very embarrassing if on a bigger spectrum the UK, the name Charles (and Camilla) goes down in popularity in the coming years (it will). LOL

      • Tacky says:

The Hanoverians weren’t particularly beloved either. Not sure why George VI took the name.

      • Lauren says:

He took the name for continuity with his father, George V. Plus, Edward VII made the precedent that there would be no King Albert when he dropped his first name for his second (Victoria had wanted a line of double-named kings, all Albert X Someothername, but Edward VII want the name Albert to be only associated with his father).

I have an uncle whose actual first name isn’t “Ron” or “Ronald,” but “Ronnie.” He’s the sweetest, most caring dude. Never gonna side-eye the name! 😆

      • aftershocks says:

Eugenie and Jack seem to be reflective and family-focused in naming their children. Fergie’s father’s name is Ronald, but E&J chose to use the nickname, ‘Ronnie,’ instead as a tribute (similar to M&H choosing ‘Archie,’ rather than the old-fashioned ‘Archibald’).

Jack’s father’s name is ‘George,’ and the great-great-great grandpa George, referenced on the Windsor side, is George V, whose third given name is ‘Ernest.’ E&J have thoughtfully managed to avoid any of Andrew’s names for their sons. 🙂

It looks like Augie, Ernie, Archie & Lili Diana will grow up knowing each other since their parents are close cousins and good friends.

      It’s better than Andrew…

i think it’s more possible that eugenie is at royal lodge with her family being closer to her and ivy cottage freed up because they’re gone. there’s no way harry would stay in there with parents, a young kid and a newborn. COngrats to the parents and August!

  7. Becks1 says:

Aw congrats to the whole family!

I doubt Harry is staying at Ivy Cottage if they are there with a brand new baby. Maybe they’re at Royal Lodge though or Sarah’s place in Mayfair and Harry is at Ivy?

  8. Nubia says:

Is it an aristo/royal thing to give your child 10 names?

    • LadyHanbury says:

      usually aristos have three forenames

      • aftershocks says:

Many of the royals have four given names. Harry and Willy have four names, which I would imagine are difficult for others to remember. Diana flubbed reciting Charles’ many names during their vows. The Spanish royals historically had an endless series of names.

    • Jay says:

Yes! You have to put in all of your forebears, it’s totally a thing. Also double-barrelled last names! The irony of course being that most of them will be known by a nickname anyway.

      • aftershocks says:

On the other hand, Bea and Edo named their daughter Sienna, without any additional given names, apparently. Perhaps they felt her double-barrelled last name, Mapelli-Mozzi, is enough syllables to go with Sienna, without adding extra names. 🤔

    • Grace says:

In my country 2-4 names is common. My daughter has three and so do I.

  9. Kittenmom says:

Ernest. Cute name! August and Ernest go well together.

    • Shawna says:

It’s a nice strategy to have the similar sound at the end, rather than the beginning (a la Kardashians).

    • PunkPrincessPhD says:

Is it too twee to hope they use Auggie and Ernie?

      • aftershocks says:

^^ They are using Augie as a nickname for August, as seen in Eugenie’s ‘big brother’ comments in her Instagram post. It makes sense for them to use Ernie for Ernest. Both names go well with Archie! 😘

    • BQM says:

Ernst Augustus was the name of George III’s fifth son, the unpopular Duke of Cumberland. He became king of Hanover when Victoria became queen since Hanover had Salic law so no women. Previous Hanoverian monarchs were king of both countries. He was paddy that Victoria, daughter of the late fourth brother, inherited the British crown instead of him.
