Rihanna got a new tattoo, and I find it very dumb. She had “Never a failure, always a lesson” written in cursive on her chest – backwards. So… she can read it in the mirror? I guess. I mean, I guess the saying is interesting and it’s her body and everything, but getting it put on backwards just seems dumb. OK! Magazine did an interview with the tattoo artist:
Say what you will about Rihanna, but the woman doesn’t do things halfheartedly. Last night, the Rated R singer headed to NYC tattoo parlor East Side Ink — one of her favorites — and had her personal motto etched indelibly into her skin forever.
“She came in at about 2:00 A.M.,” East Side Ink owner and artist Keith “Bang Bang” McCurdy tells OK! exclusively. “She told me in advance she’d be coming, and then when she got there, she told me what she wanted: ‘Never a failure, always a lesson,’ but written backwards.”
Bang Bang continues, “I asked her why she wanted that and she said, ‘It’s kind of my motto in life for everything.’ Instead of considering things to be mistakes, considering them lessons.”
He explains that RiRi, who he says is “doing great,” wanted the phrase done in backwards writing so she would be able to read it in the mirror.
Because this piece of body art is so personal to Rihanna, the pop superstar decided she didn’t want this new ink to be as obvious as the ones she already sports. “She said that she wanted to do it in gray, rather than black, because she wanted it to be more subtle,” explains Bang Bang. “She didn’t want it to draw too much attention.”
Of course, Rihanna already drew enough attention to Bang Bang and East Side Ink earlier this year. Back in July, she caused a bit of a problem when she took tattoo needle in hand and inked him and a couple other patrons during a late-night session.
And then, only a few weeks later, ex-boyfriend Chris Brown paid a visit to East Side and did the exact same thing!

In other Rihanna news, the New York Daily News is reporting that at the Vevo event two nights ago (where Justin Timberlake and John Mayer had a douche convention), Rihanna and JT stayed clear of each other, as if they didn’t want to be photographed together. Sketchy. Oh, and Rihanna also told The Mirror recently that she has something of a crush on… wait for it… Megan Fox. Oh, Rihanna. Don’t do it, girl. Rihanna said: “All humans are born with the ability to be attracted to both sexes. I mean, I could see myself in a relationship with a girl. Megan Fox… is yummy. She’s hot!” Ugh.
I used to really love Rihanna, but now I find her so ooky. The more I hear about her personality, antics, and advice, the more I think….. No thanks

She also is in desperate need of a new glam squad. Her fashion sense is way off and now she appears on the fashion don’t lists, whereas before she was considered a trendsetter. It’s a shame to see a young girl who if she would just keep her mouth shut and look like a movie star and lip synch to dance music, learn how to perform she would be a worldwide smash. She was on the verge of becoming a superstar and now she has effectively blown it and is continuing to self-destruct.

Her supposed crush on Fox is not surprising (and probably more shock talk than anything). She (laughingly) tries to get us to believe she uses her sexuality only for the good of womankind, and comes off just as desperate.

She’s been going through a lot this year. She’s real young and she’s figuring herself out. I really think that’s what all the craptastic quotes have been about. It’s funny, first everyone was in Rihanna’s corner now everything she seems to do lately is “dumb”. Her statements to the media are dumd. Her outfits are now ridiculous. Even her freakin’ tattoo is now “dumb”.
What happened recently for the sudden shift to place Rihanna in this “dumb” category? She’s young and is going to make mistakes in life but I don’t think she’s certainly a “dumb” person for all of her choices.
People were in her corner because she was the victim of domestic abuse. Explain to me why people can’t also have an opinion on her clothes, tattoos, or her recent behavior. I got a tattoo on my wrist earlier on in the year, to celebrate my life and to have something to always remind me of what I had gone through. It is facing me, not facing everyone else – because it is for me. I like the idea of Riri’s tattoo being backwards so it can be read in the mirror. I think that’s really nice. Tatts should be a personal thing; they should mean something. I am glad I have mine.

I agree with you Jess. Getting a tattoo or changing your look does not mean anything negative about a person. She has the money, she can afford to change her look whenever she wants and she can get a tattoo if she feels like it. That’s her decision. There is no bad intention toward others with here behavior.
