Jennifer Lopez gets through SYTYCD without busting her ass

Last night, Jennifer Lopez performed her terrible single “Louboutins” on the So You Think You Can Dance? finale. This is the same song that Jennifer famously performed at the AMAs, when she fell on her ass after attempting some kind of jump onto her dancer’s back. Jennifer later said she “meant to do that” but she was probably just joking – and, after all, that one fall was enough to get her quite a bit of attention for her new album, and for the single.

Anyway, Jennifer managed her performance last night without busting her ass, and she actually gave us some half-decent dance moves (see video above). Here’s the thing – remember when Jennifer could really dance? Like, fly girl dancing. Now she seems kind of stiff – she’s still got something, but it seems weaker. I feel the same way about Britney, by the way. It’s like their moves are just a second too late, or they’re rusty or something.

Jennifer’s bit was pretaped, and Page Six had the behind-the-scenes report:

Jennifer Lopez was in fine form at yesterday’s taping of her dance performance for the finale of Fox’s “So You Think You Can Dance?” “She brought Marc Anthony and the kids along to watch, and she kept going over to the microphone to talk to them between takes,” says an observer. “The audience was eating it up. It was very cute.” Lopez, who sang her new single, “Louboutins,” showed no sign of letdown after her minor tumble at the American Music Awards. “She nailed it,” says our spy. “Even the background dancers were impressed.”

By the way, if you wanted to know who actually won SYTYCD, Entertainment Weekly has a big recap of the show… obviously, there are spoilers on the link if you didn’t see it last night. All EW said about Jennifer’s performance was that is was a “very indulgent, very sparkly performance piece” which “was mostly forgiven because she included SYTYCD alums (I spotted Kayla, Karen, and maybe Courtney from season 4?) in the mix.” That’s all Jennifer got! She should have busted her ass again, then she would have been talked about all day.

Horrible song. And the performance had no heart or excitement to it. It felt like she was going through the moves and didn’t even care for the song herself.

This was an awful performance! She basically walked around the stage, instead of danced and looked very stiff at that. As someone who was known more for her dancing ability than singing, it is time for her to hang up her “louboutins”.

She’s rather stiff to be considered the great dancer they say she is, and when she twirled around it looked like she was counting the steps in her head, and goodness, if she wants a respectable “musical comeback” why is Jlo lipsyncing every single time she performs that song?

Indulgent seems to be a very good word for her. I’ve always thought she found herself much more entertaining/interesting/talented than most other people do.

Why does she insist on still having a music career? She hasn’t sold well since her first album, everyone knows she’s not exactly a great singer, and her songs aren’t great. If I had her millions I’d just sit back, relax, and enjoy the kids and family.

    They are not called “Loo-bi-tans”!
Maybe that is why we’re lucky enough not to have heard it in Europe yet – it’s blasphemy and thus disqualified :-D !

I just don’t get the fawning over Loboutins (sp?). Overpriced shoes that aren’t even that cute. It’s just more rampant materialism being pushed, and isn’t that type of mindless label-wh0ring/spending outside your means the thing that got us into this economic crisis to begin with? I cannot imagine spending a couple hundred dollars on high heels when I can buy a pair from Ross or TJ Maxx for like, $20. And I can’t even tell the difference! Madness. There IS more to life than having the “popular” shoes, I just wish people would see through this mindless consumerism and stop trying to one-up other people, because who f*cking CARES? I mean, really. And J Lo is obnoxious and I’ve never liked her although some of her earlier songs were kinda catchy. But as a person I don’t see anything to recommend her, honestly. But maybe that’s just me?

she cant really sing, but she can definitely still dance. her look and the choreography was WAY better than that weird boxing ring crap from the performance where she busted her ass. the song is still awful. if she could get someone to write better songs for her, keep using autotune, and just do sexy, well-styled performances like that, she could keep a music career going.

She’s lost her edge, dance wise, and she could never sing. All she has left is her big ass and a pretty face. For now.
